Anderson squats 15x1, front squats 5x3, back squat 135 2 rounds of 3 minutes, cable pushdowns and rear delt fluff I've made half hearted attempts at @plagueofstrength style training over the years and it's finally sticking. 6 days a week push Pull legs 3 or 4 things per day no belt short rest all big fun af movements you can do with confidence RIGHT up to the point before your eyes bulge is a lot cooler than constantly testing and certainly cooler than anything involving a calculator. And holy shit the volume. 🏋🏾‍♀️Is training with a full range of motion better for muscle growth? 💪🏻Training with a small range of motion allows for greater weights to be used. It is often joked that this is more effective for training your ego, than it is for training your muscles. 🔍This study investigated the impact of heavy shallow squats (0-60 degrees knee flexion) and lighter deep squats (0-120 degrees knee flexion) on muscle growth. The 12-week strength training program was periodized, progressive, and had the same relative intensity. The subjects were sport science students with little or no resistance training experience. 🦵Muscle growth was measured at several positions on the front thigh (quadriceps, adductors, sartorius) and the back thigh (hamstrings) with MRI. 📈Deep squats resulted in greater muscle growth in all measured positions on the front thigh compared to the shallow squats, especially in the distal region (towards the knee). 📊There were no clear changes in the back thigh muscles as a result of the training. Therefore, there were also no differences between the groups. 🧐A strength of the study are the MRI scans at multiple heights of the muscle, which is a very good method to assess muscle mass. A limitation is that only one specific exercise was used. It is possible that the results do not translate to exercises that have different biomechanical properties. There is some indication that growth is not necessarily modulated by a greater range of motion, but by effort in the more stretched range specifically. I have the “I’m-in-my-head-that-this-is heavy-so-I’m-cutting-my-reps-high” yips. The depth on these are terrible, quarter squat ego lifting high. I did sets with 455 before this which were borderline. I may need to try using spotters when I go heavy next week. Next week will be my last heavy squat day for maybe five months. Form is breaking down above 445. I am planning on doing more and more sets of low rep 3-4 plate squats, and my double pause bottom half squats until my form, depth and conditioning are much better, And then maybe do a 4 week peak in June. Squat depth only matters based on the context you're in. Do you need to squat below parallel? Not unless your competition standards demand it. Realistically speaking, squat depth is often a universally applied standard to individuals because we want something objective to be able to measure. But for some people, they don't possess enough stability to squat effectively below a parallel position. Does this mean we don't try to mobilize and stabilize to get us into a deeper squat? Absolutely not. Deep squats are an expression of function and skill, so developing the skills to get low is crucial. But to hold each individual to a standard of depth will quickly expose some individuals who may not necessarily need to hit that depth yet. #throwbackthursday to 2014 and the hype squad @crossfit1force First time hitting 405lb front squat PR. 🏋️‍♂️ … I pose a question commonly asked in the fitness community. HOW LOW SHOULD YOU SQUAT? My opinion: In all the ranges. Ass to grass, just below parallel. Quarter squat. Twisted, shifted, and more. And even more so....flat back, hyper extended, rounded back. 😱 There is no bad movement. Only less efficient for the task and context. Additionally we should consider not doing too much too soon. I train (and train my athletes) in as many ranges as possible with specific (In)Tension and constraints. In its earnings call, Ubisoft revealed that the company will reduce its focus on AAA releases and instead focus on what it refers to as "high-end free-to-play" games. Ubisoft also stated that it has no AAA games scheduled for release during the second half of this fiscal year. "In line with the evolution of our high-quality line-up that is increasingly diverse, we are moving on from our prior comment regarding releasing 3-4 premium AAAs per year," said Ubisoft CFO Frederick Duguet, according to Video Games Chronicle. "It is indeed no longer a proper indication of our value creation dynamics. For example, our expectation for Just Dance and Riders Republic are consistent with some of the industry's AAA performers. Additionally, we are building high-end free-to-play games to be trending towards AAA ambitions over the long-term." Duguet also points out that while the company won't focus on tentpole AAA releases as much moving forward, it doesn't expect the quality of its releases to go down. "This is purely a financial communication evolution and doesn't change the fact that we continue to expect a high cadence of content delivery including powerful premium and free-to-play new releases," said Duguet. Last week's announcement of The Division Heartland likely plays a big role in Ubisoft's new release plan. The game, announced last Friday, will be a free-to-play game set in The Division. Heartland will be a standalone game, and won't need players to have prior experience with The Division. The Division Heartland is currently accepting registrations for playtesting for its PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series XIS versions.
