A spur of the moment decision to do the 5km circular route around Loch an Eilein was very much worth it because of the stunning loch views and the beautiful pine forest we immersed ourselves in. After a busy few days it was a great way to relax and enjoy our surroundings. We didn't set off until after 3pm so it was certainly a brisk walk to get back in time for Beth's bed time!

Steall Falls in Glen Nevis, Scotland 🏴 We were in Fort William recently and had a day to spare. The weather was good (never something to take for granted in Scotland) so we decided to head to Steall Falls. I'm not sure if it was just the sun being out after so many months of grey sky, or the fact that we both had time off from work, but it was a really lovely day with some breathtaking views. 🏴 Steall Falls is the second highest waterfall in Scotland and it is accessed via a wire bridge, which certainly makes the crossing all the more fun. Spotting a newt was an unexpected bonus, as I had never actually seen one before. 🏴

Meall Garbh Finally got back to finish off the Lawers range! We were so close to this one back in November when we done Meall Greig but didn’t want to loose day light, so decided to cut back down and missed this at the time. Today the weather was decent for most of the walk, but the weather closed in within 30 seconds of reaching the summit. It was probably the coldest summit to date. I took my hand out my glove to take a picture and instantly my hand was in agony with the cold, so it was a fairly quick turnaround. YOUR REMINDER THAT REST IS JUST AS IMPORTANT AS MOVING! ☀️👏🏻 Today I had a 9km run on my training plan. Did I do it? Nope 🙃 I woke up absolutely loaded with the cold & I’m on day 3 of heavy antibiotics. My body needed REST and that’s exactly what I’ve chosen to give it 🫶🏻 Sometimes plans need to be changed & switched around. We can have all the best intentions but some things are out of our control. Enjoyed an evening spring time hike around the fields and shore here at Bracadale Views- the primroses, celandines and violets are carpeting the way! So beautiful. Stopped a while to watch the littlest lambs invent a new game- scrambling down a sheer cliff and their bemused maaas come rumbling down the hill like an avalanche to berate them! Did you know that Scotland has its very own pyramid, which can be found on Balmoral Estate. This cairn is the Prince Albert Cairn which was built by Queen Victoria (I’m sure not personally by her!) as a memorial to her husband Albert when he passed away. Pictures don’t really do justice to how big this cairn is! Monadh Liath Munros: Càrn Dearg, Càrn Sgulain & A’ Chailleach 16.03.24 16 miles 9 hours 1 min A gorgeous morning to wake up the van, we set off at 7:14 and headed for the long slog to the first Munro, easy going for the first few kms (with a dodgy bridge crossing) then the bog started and my feet were soaked before we got to the first cairn 🤣. It was pure snow from then on, it’s quite a steep ascent to Càrn Dearg and it was absolutely freezing but blue skies all around! The walk between Càrn Dearg and Càrn Sgulain was about 7k if I remember right, through knee high snow at places and gale force winds, it was a tough walk and seemed never ending at the time! We were very happy to finally see the next top after a couple hours walking 🥲 we spent no time at Càrn Sgulain and headed for the final Munro of the day, A’ Chailleach. This was a much shorter walk, downhill mostly and then a steep ascent again to the summit, we were both knackered by this point and very glad to see the final summit!
