Shopping with my daughter yesterday as she needs clothes for her summer internship. I don’t often get shakes or smoothies, but this stand at the Park City Mall has a few under 300 cal options. And sadly my lunch at PF Chang’s was lacking in fruits or veggies
 Often smoothies end up being like 700-800 calories and are way more added sugar than fruit or are calorie dense with ingredients. I opted to add a scoop of whey protein, of course I inquire and they use Optimum Nutrition whey, which I like. 120 cal for 24 g of protein. My flavor was the Green Surf Rider, that’s the one I like, I usually opt for a green shake. Bean Cream! Easy, healthy, cheap way to make dishes creamyyyy. Can be used like cream or Schmand in any recipe (to make the dish vegan, healthier or just because you don’t have cream at home but a can of beans). I already used the bean cream as 🧅Base for Flammkuchen (German style onion pizza), đŸ„ŹCabbage-smoky tofu stir fry (Wirsing Pfanne mit RĂ€uchertofu oder Speck) and đŸ„—in a white salad dressing Simply purĂ©e beans (any light colored variety, canned or cooked until veeery soft) with oil (linen and/or olive), add bean water and soy milk depending on the desired texture. Add salt, pepper and garlic to taste. You can also throw some tofu in there if you have. For a sweet version, use tasteless rapeseed oil and a teaspoon of sugar instead of salt. I missed my live tonight bc dinner took a bit longer to make than I anticipated. I’ve been trying out some new dinner recipes the past couple weeks and tonight was a new pasta dish, pasta with cheese and eggs. I used a red lentil pasta and egg whites instead of whole eggs to boost the protein. Paired with some homemade chicken tenders (and peas not pictured) and it was a yummy new recipe to add to my repertoire 😁 Also meal prepped yesterday are overnight oats for myself and @pixpups âœŒđŸ» tiramisu oats and chocolate PB oats with added raspberries for more fiber and nutrients. Protein is my friend. I struggle to get in the recommended amount for me every single day. So, in order to make it a little less challenging, I choose products that are high in protein, easily accessible, and convenient, and taste delicious. A simple question, but one we don’t think about, especially as women. I never used to think about whether I had added protein to my meals or not, I was just looking for healthy. And by heathy I thought low calorie salad bulking meals. What I didn’t realise that I do now was the importance of adding protein to every meal. By the time I finished my salads I’d be full because they were bulky, problem was a couple of hours later I’d notice I was hungry again. And o mean hungry! Now I realise what was missing was protein. Since I changed that & added protein in the form of lean meat, tuna or egg, I’ve noticed I stay full for longer. I also started adding protein to my breakfast in the form of protein powder, making a smoothie, protein yoghurt or protein pancakes. It’s been the game changer I never knew I needed. Many people know that oats contain beta-glucan which can help lower your cholesterol by interacting with your bile. Did you know that the active beta-glucan is doubled when you eat your oats raw? Be sure to get the plain rolled oats (quick oats have been steamed/cooked, lowering their beta-glucan content). how i've been trying to add more protein into my diet (easy edition lol) It's so hard as a vegetarian to get a decent amount of protein into your meals without getting stuck in the mental loop of only substituting meat for tofu, but here are some simple ways I've been slowly trying to up my protein that enhance my meals instead of just tacking on the protein for the sake of it: 1. Cottage cheese w avo toast/hashbrowns 2. Greek yogurt and soaked chia seeds in smoothies 3. Greek yogurt in baking 4. Asking for extra tofu with pho 5. Adding feta to meals/trying friend's recipes 😉 6.
