✨Book Review✨ Legendary by Stephanie Garber ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 Okay, so while I thoroughly enjoy this series and the world that Stephanie Garber created, this one was a little bit it a let down. First off - if you follow my reviews at all, you know I’m a HUGE fan of The Once Upon a Broken Heart series. I know that comes after the Caraval series, but I read it first. I actually was nervous to read Caraval, like would it be just as good? And while I did very much enjoyed Caraval, Legendary fell a little flat for me. Caraval had so many layers and kept leaving little crumbs to figure things out, which kept me really engaged however I felt like most of this was Tella just going back and forth between who you trust and nothing really led to new clues until close to the end and even then it was like exactly what she thought - it lacked the element of surprise. I didn’t feel the same excitement as I did with the first. I did really enjoy the introduction of Jacks though! I knew he was part of this series but I didn’t realize he’d have such a big part in it. Review: Caraval Genre: YA Fantasy Verdict: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Magical islands, cute mystery boys, a faceless game master, sisterly bonds…this one was ticking the boxes! I’m MAD at myself for waiting this long to read because it was SUCH an enjoyable reading experience. I was hooked on the writing from the start and loved the way it played with form by incorporating letters and written notes. The world was easy to picture and I was enraptured by it! This is the type of YA that I would’ve ate up as a teenager but absolutely still loved now. The whole time I was nostalgic for books from my youth. It’s romantic, spooky, sinister, adventurous, mysterious, and head spinning. Scarlett is a strong female lead driven by her love for her sister and the willingness to do anything for her. But she, and you, can’t trust anyone or anything!! The game of it all is a mind bend at times. While I loved the book overall, the ending was a little too info dumpy and wrapped up loose ends a bit too easily. It wasn’t the perfect topper for an otherwise great book. If you haven’t read this yet – though I feel like the last one – you won’t regret picking it up! 🎩❤️🪄

Hace unos días terminé “Caraval” de Stephanie Garber. Llevaba mucho tiempo con la lectura pendiente y, en general, con ganas de empezar a conocer el universo creado por la autora. Aquí os dejo mi opinión (sin spoilers) 🎡 “Caraval” es el primer libro de lo que hasta ahora es una trilogía (ya que una nueva novela extra se publica a finales de año). En él conocemos a las hermanas Dragna, Scarlett y Donatella, que viven junto con su padre, el infame gobernador, en una pequeña isla de la que nunca han salido. De su madre se dice que desapareció hace tiempo y que nadie ha vuelto a saber nada de ella. Scarlett, desde hace años, le escribe cartas a un misterioso personaje, Legend, el maestro de Caraval: un juego anual, mágico y misterioso del que las hermanas han escuchado, desde pequeñas, todo tipo de historias. La joven nunca ha recibido respuesta, pero, de la forma más inesperada, varias invitaciones llegan a sus manos en un momento crítico. Scarlett irá a Caraval sin imaginar que la temática de la celebración de ese año está directamente relacionada con ella: Donatella, su hermana, ha desaparecido, y el objetivo de los participantes no es otro que encontrarla. . Esta ha sido, para mí, una lectura muy agradable. Me ha parecido una fantasía distinta a la que estoy acostumbrada, más juvenil y sencilla, por lo que la recomendaría especialmente a alguien que quiere empezar en el género. Que la trama esté basada en un juego y el hecho de incluir misterio, han sido mis puntos favoritos del libro. Creo, sin embargo, que esta novela será una base para las siguientes, en las que espero un poco más de desarrollo de los personajes, de la trama en general y que ojalá cuente con los detalles que quizá sí me han faltado para estar un poco más enganchada a la historia. ~ SERIES REVIEW ~ ♡ The Once Upon a Broken Heart Series - Stephanie Garber ♡ Once Upon a Broken Heart ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Ballad of Never After ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Curse for True Love ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 *SPOILER WARNING* after loving the caraval series i was excited to read the OUABH series, especially since we’re focusing on jacks. this takes place after the events of caraval, after the fates are banned to the north, including jacks. we meet evangeline fox who desperately makes a deal with jacks…which we all know never ends well. the first book was great, full of action and amazing one liners from jacks💓 the hot & coldness attitude he has towards evangeline creates great tension and build up as their relationship complicates. he needs her newly found gift as a tool, she needs his cleverness and fated magic to help clear her name. really great introduction, great action, overall a lot of fun :) the second book was BY FAR the best. garber definitely has a tendency to write amazing second books. jacks and eva grow to have more of a partnership, he softens up with her and is always saving her under the guise of “you can’t die because you’re the key for what i need” but we all know he cares. there’s more tender moments between the two of them, and ugh its just so good. we also get more backstory on jacks, where he came from, and his upbringing! overall my fave, i loved every second. the ending killed me😭😭 the third was kind of underwhelming and disappointing though. i hated that we were now getting an apollo pov, it was so boring and i did not care for his plot AT ALL. he had so many chapters, jacks got like 4 or 5….likeee what?? we had the stupid cliche of eva losing her memories, which frustrated me so much because i felt like we had so much build up in the second book but for it to fall apart in this book. we barely saw jacks, and most of it was just eva trying to regain her memories. i wish there was a different plot. eva and jacks’s reunion at the end with their first kiss also was underwhelming and i think its because all of the build up and tension of the second book completely dissipated. overall, it felt rushed, i wish we had more jacks and eva😕

Constantly having new questions and not knowing what was going on. The author’s descriptions of the Caraval locations and places were so captivating that I was mesmerized. It truly felt like I was a part of the game and you can feel the magic of this game. I really liked Scarlet’s character! The bond that she has with her sister Donatella was so heartwarming even though I wasn’t the biggest fan of Donatella due to her reckless behavior. I quickly fell for Julian as soon as he saved Scarlett from drowning in the sea but I knew there was something fishy about him but I was still rooting for him and Scarlett. I adore the sisterhood between Scarlett and Tella, after everything they’ve been through together with their mother leaving and the abuse from their father, their unbreakable bond, the love they have for each other and Scarlett’s devotion to finding Tella was so heartwarming and powerful. I love this book! It was so fun to fall into this easy reading book after a hard read with my last book. I feel like I’m back in my comfort zone and I never wanna leave. I’ve already started book 2 and I’m enjoying that we’re now in Tella’s POV. I’m really curious where it’s going to leave and who this “friend” is. I’m also interested to see if anything is going to go further between her and Danté and wether Scarlett will find out the truth about her ex fiancée and hope her relationship with Julian doesn’t crumble because of it! Hola!! Hace poco acabé de leer Caraval, una trilogía de fantasía juvenil que se aleja bastante de lo que he leído hasta ahora. Con Caraval nos adentramos en un mundo lleno de ilusiones (en el sentido más literal de la palabra) en el que dudamos de si lo que ocurre es real. Seguimos a Scarlett y Tella, dos hermanas que se ven involucradas (de formas distintas) en un juego organizado por Legend. Quiera o no, Scarlett deberá ganar Caraval porque, de lo contrario, habrá consecuencias nefastas. El primer libro me pareció increíble. La magia, el mundo, los personajes, la desconfianza que hay que tener en todos ellos, todo el camino que hay que recorrer para resolver los retos que van apareciendo… El segundo se aleja mucho del primero. Para mí, la magia se pierde y no sorprende, pero da pie al tercer libro, que me volvió a conquistar (aunque no tanto como el primero y a su propia manera). En general, es una trilogía que me ha gustado mucho. Los momentos menos interesantes se compensan con el mundo que ha creado Stephanie Garber, que me parece una pasada. book review📖 Have you read caraval? ( dansk i bunden) Caraval was 100% a disappointment to me 🥲 I thought I would love it, and I really didn’t. Took me half a month to get through.😖 The ending changed my rating from 2 to 3 stars, so that’s something. It’s nothing about the book, it’s more about me lol. I liked the writing, but I was confused for like 70% of it, so it felt quite pointless to read. I’m probably not gonna continue the series, but I will try and read OUABH someday😆 ————- Caraval var en kæmpe skuffelse for mig, hvis jeg skal være ærlig🥺 Jeg var overbevist om, at jeg ville elske den, men det gjorde jeg virkelig ikke.
