🩸 BOOK REVIEW 🩸 Once again I loved Crush, book two in the YA paranormal Crave series, in the same "guilty pleasure" kind of way, as I did the first. I'm totally hooked on these books, I just find them so fun and so easy to blast through. I enjoy how badass Grace, the main character is, and not in a "not like other girls" way. Just in the sense that she stands up to the dudes in her life, and won't tolerate being cast as the simpering damsel in their narrative. She's feisty without being a dick, and I like that a lot. I also loved the twist in this, even though it was straight out of the SJM playbook, not to mention it was obviously coming for the whole 600 page book 😂. I can see how some readers might have been upset over events if they were attached to a certain circumstance established in the first book. But I personally loved the switch and I can't wait to read how it pans out in the next book. Overall, it's just once again extremely fun trash and I'm loving it. Literally all I've read this month is these books, but in my defence they're like a million pages long. How's your reading month going? Any stand outs?

My mom and i went for a mother daughter day and we were there for over two hours just browsing, drinking coffee, eating a *very* good lox bagel, and enjoying the comfy couches ☕️ There was a paint-by-numbers mural outside and i definitely had to join in. (I mean, when do you ever get the chance to paint an electrical box green?? Never!!) My mom and i each got a blind date with a book as well and i ended up getting The Midnight Library, which i have been super eager to read! Fred is a man I highly respect and has served our community selflessly for so many years between law enforcement and entertainment. When I think of Fred - I think of all the joy he brings to others. Fred has once again performed a selfless act of sharing his story in hopes that it will pull others from their darkness. Fred truly is a light in this world leading others out of despair. Fred provides resources and coping tools to help deal with trauma. Even if you’re not law enforcement, you will still find hope within these pages. Fred was offered an opportunity to attend a three month leadership training program out of state during the timeframe of our wedding. Instead of calling in backup, he chose to spend his own money to fly home for our event. He said he wouldn’t miss it for the world. And it meant the world to me and my husband. 🌸 April is truly flying by, I can’t believe it’s almost over. For me it turned out to be a month of small miracles, sleeping too little, doing scary things, seeing lots of lovely flowers and reading some pretty good books. I’m trying to enjoy spring as much as I can, as it’s my favorite season and it always ends too quickly. ☀️ Book Review ☀️ Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez Rating: 4.75 ⭐️ Justin feels cursed. Everyone woman he dates finds their soulmate right after they break up. He’s known for this on Reddit, and when a woman, Emma, dm’s him claiming to have the same curse, they decide to date each other hoping that when they breakup, they will find their soulmates and the curse will be broken. This is my first Abby Jimenez book I’ve read, and it definitely lived up to the hype. It felt like I was in one of those Netflix small town series. It had great summer vibes and a super sweet MMC 🥰 (I loved Justin’s little surveys!). I also think Emma made a great FMC. I love how she is so empathetic, but the author does a great job at also showing the potential downsides of this (i.e people taking advantage). I feel like Emma handled so many situations in this book with grace and I loved to see it! This book was such a great balance of cute, quirky romance and emotional real life situations that the characters go through. Justin’s family situation in particular had my mind reeling thinking about what I would do and how I would feel if I was in his position. And the friends of both main characters were AMAZING and I loved to see how important their roles are in supporting Justin and Emma through their situations. Overall, this was a great read and I will be definitely checking out more from this author! Have you read anything from this author? If so, what would you recommend?

It’s a bit ironic that this book grew on me. If you’ve read it, you’ll get it. This is a rather dark fairytale, written like a classic horror with the twist of a strong female lead, which is my jam. It hooked me from the start, the suspense building took a bit, but once it did, I was there for the ride. Suffice it to say, I’ll be suspect of any mushrooms I consume for a while. 🍄

English below! Ostatnia część trylogii "Dziewczyny z Hex Hall"! Spell Bound to książka, która niestety nigdy nie pojawiła się na polskim rynku. Dlatego właśnie postanowiłam przeczytać całą trylogię po angielsku i dowiedzieć się w końcu jak kończy się historia. Szkoda, że książka nie została przetłumaczona kilka lat temu, kiedy byłam młodsza, bo teraz czuję, że jestem za stara na takie książki 😅 Niestety nie powaliło mnie zakończenie tej trylogii. Byłam już trochę zmęczona zachowaniem bohaterów, szczególnie głównej bohaterki - Sophie. Dziewczyna wszystko próbuje zwalczyć sarkazmem i śmiechem, ale robi to w taki sposób, że raczej wywracałam oczami zamiast się śmiać. Samo zakończenie było dość przewidywalne - wszelkie zło zostaje pokonane, a Sophie dostaje propozycję zarządzania radą, której odmawia. Przynajmniej na razie. Nie wiem czy kiedyś wrócę jeszcze do tej serii, ale miło było w końcu dowiedzieć się jak kończy się ta historia. 🖤 🌷 🖤 The last part of the Hex Hall trilogy! Spell Bound was never translated into Polish, which is why I decided to re-read the series in English and finally find out how the story ends. It's a shame it was never translated when I was younger, because I feel like I'm too old for those types of books now 😅 Unfortunately the ending didn't blow me away. I grew tired of the way the characters acted, especially the main character - Sophie. She tries to fight everything with laughter and sarcasm but she does that in such a way that I found myself rolling my eyes rather than laughing. The ending itself is pretty predictable - the evil is defeated and Sophie gets a proposition to lead the Council, which she declines. At least for now. Aerodrom Hitrou u Londonu, 1981. godina. Gomila ljudi koja putuje na različita odredišta, makrokosmosom, i koja ne sluti da će njihovim telima - mikrokosmosom, uskoro putovati smrtonosni virus koji kao krajnje odredište ima njihov mozak. Virus besnila. Mutant. Međutim, da li je on posledica našeg lošeg odnosa prema prirodi, njenog dugotrajnog razaranja i ubijanja ili je ipak veštački virus nastao u laboratoriji? U svakom slučaju, delo je čoveka. Vreme inkubacije ovog virusa kraće je od trajanja prosečnog avionskog leta. Sa povećanjem broja slučajeva dolazi do uvođenja karantina i proglašavanja epidemije kojima Pekić navlači jedne, ali skida druge maske sa lica ljudi pokazujući ko su zapravo iznutra. Ukazuje na drugu vrstu besnila koja ne potiče od virusa. I tako dolazi do dvostruke epidemije, epidemije virusa besnila i besnila koje je u ljudima vekovima duboko ukorenjeno i čeka da ispliva u kriznoj situaciji. Struktura romana je takva da nam poput medicinske literature pokazuje kako besnilo nastupa po fazama, kako kod obolelih, tako i kod "zdravih" koji su često opasniji od bolesnih. ,,Besni smo mi. Oni su samo bolesni..." Pekić simbolično bira baš virus Besnila, jer usud za sve bolesne od virusa predstavlja svetlost, a isto tako za besnu-bolesnu civilizaciju koja je u tami, usud je svetlost ljudske duše i probuđena svest. (Da li u romanu postoje likovi koji su izuzeti od svih vrsta besnila, ljudi bez straha koji predstavljaju svetlo, nadu i spas za čovečanstvo?) Slično kao i u romanu ,,Novi Jerusalim" i ovde se ukazuje da se istorija često ponavlja, sa istim (različitim) akterima u glavnoj ulozi jer se u knjizi na trenutke vraćamo u neke od ključnih perioda istorije čovečanstva koji su takođe doveli do apokaliptičnih scenarija i rušili svaku nadu u bolje sutra. ⬇️ #besnilo #borislavpekić #pekić

Charlotte Mew, Selected Poetry and Prose (ed. Julia Copus). : "...the world must die with me." —Impossibility, Mew Spring is incomplete without reading some Charlotte Mew. This is the only poet I consider to be the last great transitional bridge between the Victorian and Modernist periods. The deep influence of British Romanticism, Pre-Raphaelites, and obviously Hardy is unmistakable. There are some hints of Graveyard Poets and their style of writing. Her two volumes of poems that we treasure are: The Farmer's Bride (1916/1921) and The Rambling Sailor (1929). Writing during WWI and constantly suffering economically do introduce a sense of urgency to her poems. The Hardys were her patron! Anyway, sharing some passages on Spring here. If you are reading Mew for the first time then definitely read: 'The Saturday Market' (an abortion poem, which she used to read out loud to the Hardys), 'In Nunhead Cemetery,' 'The Farmer's Bride,' 'The Quiet House,' 'Ken,' 'The Forest Road,' 'Madeleine in Church,' 'The Rambling Sailor' (referencing Colerdige's The Rime of the Ancient Mariner), 'Fin de Fête,' and 'The Trees are Down.' The countryside, outcasts, trees, greenery, birds, and windows are recurring themes in most of these poems. Reading 'The Saturday Market,' which for me is Mew's greatest poem (and opinions may vary on this) on a Saturday morning in Spring is quite an out of body experience! It Ends With Us 🌸/ ✰✰✰✰✰ Why didn't I read this sooner !!! I know most have probably read this already and loved it just like I did. A beautiful story that sheds light on domestic abuse and breaking cycles. This book was absolutely perfect. I wouldn't change a thing . I felt so many emotions while reading. Happiness, empathy, sadness, anger, even rage at some points. I was even yelling aloud at certain parts that I just couldn't stand. Some of my favorite parts are Lilly's love for Ellen DeGeneres and the way she would write her journal entry's. I loved how Ellen was such a comfort show for them (until It wasn't) I was also a huge fan of Lilly and Alyssa's friendship. It was so cute and genuine and it's a platonic relationship I crave to one day have in my adult life. 🥹🫂 I had Strong opinions in the beginning of this book that were challenged by the end. Sometimes breaking cycles aren't as easy as we may believe. QUOTES ♡ "you saved my life Lilly , and you weren't even trying" ♡ "you're the best friend I've ever had" ♡ "just keep swimming" ♡"it stops here, with me and you. it ends with us" The movie comes out this year and Im scared it won't be able to come anywhere close to the book . Hi everyone! How are you doing? I'm so sorry I disappeared, it's been a busy week! There's lots of gorgeous art, fics and digital merch! (yours truly also wrote a piece! 👀) Last weekend I inhaled Covenant, a really cool graphic novel where demons roam the streets and queer tattooed priests vanquish them! I came across the artist last year, as they also drew one of the Fence issue covers! Added this to my tbr, forgot about it, then I saw a couple of months ago that it was getting a physical release 🎊 The world building is really intriguing as we learn more about Ezra and his team of exorcists. Tensions are running high; war is on the horizon and his church is under scrutiny for "unorthodox" methods. These priests have tattoos - sigils - granted by angels themselves which confer the priests extra powers. In addition, Archangel Gabriel gives Ezra an extra task: look after a young man called Sunny. He seems like a regular college student, but for some mysterious reason demons are after him. I really like the art style and character designs. The gothic atmosphere is great, but I also love when Ezra is being a little shit - he's a bit of a goof, which made me like him instantly. Can't wait to read more! 😍

Pages: 341 Genre: Paranormal Thriller Published on: 3/5/24 Rating: 3.5⭐️ Swipe to read the book synopsis! 👍🏻 -creeeeepy! Read with a light on😜 -queen of supernatural stories strikes again👻 -Loved the snell sisters. They were such fun side characters! -the 2 main characters were likable -twisty ending 👎🏻 -wished for a little more info at the end? Wrapped up quickly. -I know you have to suspend belief with supernatural stuff, which I love. But I felt like I also had to suspend belief with how the police officers worked… which I didn’t love Although I have enjoyed her other books a bit more, I still highly recommend reading this one! Perfect if you’re wanting something eerie 🫣 What is your favorite St. James book⁉️ If you haven’t read any, what are your thoughts on paranormal elements in a book⁉️
