This one is probably one of my favourites by this author so far. It was a really easy book to read with some lovely little characters, who are always too nice in books like these!! But you do have soft spots for them! A fun storyline, but with a very predictable ending. (I think all books like this, you know how it’s going to end before you even open the book) It is nice to read a straightforward book sometimes and immerse yourself in a bubble of romance. Raced through this one as wanted to get it read before April ends. 9/10 #KidsofConcern by #PerryLogan This was a suggestion from KU. I had no idea what it was about. But I was sure (based on the cover) that it was going to be a short horror story. Now I laugh at myself, no horror and not short. I can't put this in a genre. And it is 500+ pages long. This was political, thriller, mystery, domestic fiction, technology, kidnapping, violence... and way more. This story was weird at first, I had no idea where it was going, and then I realized I would never know where it was going, and that was the point! This story kept getting crazier and crazier every chapter. And it kept throwing curveballs with every new character. This was soooo good ! I am extremely glad that KU made me read it. Joshua gets kidnapped from school while his parents, classmates and teachers where there. Still no one has any idea where he is and the police has no clues. During the investigation, they start to realize that Joshua is not the only missing kid. There has been several kidnappings going on, that no one has been connecting. And then.. where they kidnapped or did they leave on their own? Why are they not with their parents? Are they ok? How are the Prime Minister and the President of the United States involved? Sci-fi | Thriller | Adventure 💉 Another 5✨ read! Dark Matter by Blake Crouch is a sci-fi thriller novel about a man named Jason and his experience waking up in a lab in an unknown place. The plot gets thick fast, there are so many twists, and they’re all unpredictable and shocking. The author was really good at creating an exceptional story. I was able to picture each scene vividly, which I feel would be hard to achieve given the content and genre. This is a given but the description is simple yet effective. From the weather to the scenic city scapes, everything is carefully detailed. Apart from the twists, this book was a quick read because of its formatting. There aren’t many large paragraphs to read through. Instead, each sentence often had its own line. I also find books easier to read when there’s a lot of dialogue and this book has that. Elle a pris cette décision après avoir vécu un évènement tragique et marquant à Denver, qui la terrifie encore aujourd'hui. Sa belle sœur la force à sortir, à vivre après cela et l'amène à une fête. Elle va y faire la rencontre plutôt explosive de Weston alias Red Falcon, l'ailier des Huskies et meilleur ami de son frère, mais ça elle ne le sait pas encore. Ils vont au fur et à mesure de la soirée se rapprocher jusqu'à succomber au désir qu'il les anime. Charlie filera au milieu de la nuit en laissant un mot à Weston lui demandant de ne parler à personne de ce qu'il s'est passé entre eux. Quand ils comprennent réciproquement qu'ils y sont pour Bill, ils essayent de rester loin l'un de l'autre surtout que Bill informe Charlie que Weston n'est pas fréquentable et qu'il met ses amis en danger, un de leurs coéquipiers s'est fait agressé pour cela, mais l'attirance entre eux est bien trop forte. Charlie va-t-elle écouter son frère ou ses désirs? Que cache Weston et l'agression? Encore un roman avec une forte hype qui le mérite. J'adore cette romance universitaire, les thèmes abordés et le climat angoissant qu'instaure l'auteure avec Weston et ce qu'il dissimule. La trope brother best friend j'adore pour le côté secret et l'intensité que cela amène entre les héros, leurs intermèdes sont tellement sensuels 🔥. L'intrigue nous tient vraiment en haleine avec tous ses mystères et les menaces que Weston recoit. J'ai hâte de découvrir qui est celui qui lui veut autant pour lui faire vivre cet enfer. Zero Posteingang ist zero umsetzbar, denn jede beantwortet Email generier unter Umständen eine neue und je schneller und effizienter man arbeiten, umso mehr Leute wenden sich an einen ... Burkeman nennt das treffend "Die Effizienzfalle". Der Ausweg? Ich habe erst knapp 100 Seiten gelesen und daher keine allumfassende Antwort .. sich zu entscheiden seine Endlichkeit zu akzeptieren und anfangen tatsächlich Entscheidungen zu treffen anstatt sie durch vermeintlich wichtige Themen aufzuschieben, ist eine Lösung, die in dem Buch genannt wird. Burkeman beruft sich auf viele Wissenschaftler und Philosophen, er diskutiert die heutige Aufmerksamkeitsökonomie, "eine riesige Maschine, die einen dazu verleitet, falsche Entscheidungen darüber zu treffen, was man mit seiner Aufmerksamkeit und damit mit seinem endlichen Leben anfangen soll, indem sie einen dazu bringt, sich für Dinge zu interessieren, für die man sich eigentlich nicht interessieren wollte." In jedem Fall bisher eine spannende Lektüre, die zum Nachdenken anregt. *REVIEW* De ontvoering – Jeroen van Berckum Door de tijdmachine die hij heeft gebouwd, weet Jonas’ opa wat er morgen gaat gebeuren. Jonas en Maartje krijgen de schrik van hun leven als hij hun vertelt dat er een aantal beroemde vloggers ontvoerd zullen worden. Nog erger: Maartje is een van hen. Ze proberen de ontvoeringen te voorkomen, maar DUTCHCREEPYPASTA, degene die achter alles zit, is hen steeds een stap voor. Langzaam sluit het net zich rondom Maartje. Weten ze het te redden? ‘De ontvoering’ is het derde deel in de serie De speurders van morgen en prima zelfstandig te lezen. In het eerste hoofdstuk vertelt Jonas al wat er voorafging en wordt er voldoende duidelijk om meteen in het verhaal te duiken. Maar eerlijk is eerlijk, deze serie is echt veel te leuk om niet in zijn geheel te lezen. Het verhaal leest erg prettig met korte hoofdstukken die lekker weglezen en vaak afsluiten met kleine, maar toffe cliffhangers. Dit houdt de vaart erin en door de goed opgebouwde spanning kun je, eenmaal begonnen eigenlijk ook niet meer stoppen met lezen. Het verhaal is dan ook helemaal van deze tijd met vloggers en games, dat zal de jeugd dus zeker aanspreken! De mooie, veelal paginagrote illustraties van @katrijnjacobsillustrator zijn in zwart/wit en passen goed bij het verhaal. De speurders van morgen is een erg leuke serie voor speurneuzen vanaf ongeveer 9 jaar die van spannende verhalen houden. Laat deel vier dus maar snel komen. L’intrigue avait tout pour m’embarquer mais je n’ai pas non plus été charmée par la plume trop légère et trop répétitive. Je sais que ce roman a séduit beaucoup de lecteurs ; pour ma part, c’est une déception. ▪︎ BOOK REVIEW N°30 ▪︎ Hello #bookstagrammers ! J'ai pu lire beaucoup d'avis très positifs sur ce roman mais pour ma part, ce fut une lecture en demie teinte. Les faits historiques relatés dans le roman sont intéressants et surtout assez méconnus. L'histoire de la Malaisie sous l'occupation Britannique qui va subir pendant la seconde guerre mondiale, l'occupation Japonnaise. Les principales victimes seront bien sûr les Malaisiens qui vont vivre l'horreur et la peur quotidiennement car si les Britanniques les laissaient un peu tranquille, les Japonais beaucoup moins... Nous suivons donc l'histoire d'une famille Malaisienne. Et c'est là que le bât blesse... Durant toute ma lecture, je me suis sentie un peu extérieure à l'histoire et à ses personnages qui pour moi manquaient d'un petit quelque chose. Je n'ai pas eu de joie ou de peine, je suis restée assez impassible. Sans compter que le roman est très dense, beaucoup de parlotte qui à mon sens, n'apporte pas grand chose au roman si ce n'est pas mal de longueurs...les chapitres sont également assez longs donc alourdissent encore plus le récit. Pour résumer, seul le côté historique m'a vraiment intéressé dans ce roman et c'est dommage. book review - 5💫 Whenever I read an Emily Henry book, it feels like it was personally written for me. Like she can see into the deepest parts of my mind and put them onto the page in a way where I don’t hate what I see. This time I could really see myself in both Daphne and Miles. I love how after two heavy hitters with Book Lovers and Happy Place, this one is much more of a traditional romcom. But that doesn’t stop the themes of family hardships and finding yourself outside of a relationship from being explored. Daphne and Miles through friendship were able to help each other so much. I think the deep friendships Emily Henry’s couples tend to form make their romance so much stronger. This one will hit hard for the girls who want to feel chosen by the people around them, especially in romantic relationships. And for the girls who have trouble opening up and trusting people with their feelings. I haven’t read a single Emily Henry without crying honestly.

Den größten Unterhaltungswert in "Niemalsland" haben zweifellos die beiden blutrünstigen Killer, die mich mit ihren Gesprächen immer wieder zum Grinsen brachten, auch wenn man den beiden in freier Wildbahn lieber nicht begegnen möchte, denn sie beherrschen ihr Handwerk und haben keinerlei Probleme damit, ihre Opfer ausgiebig bluten zu lassen. Ja, der Ausflug in die Unterwelt hat hin und wieder auch ein paar brutalere Momente, aber gerade diese Darstellung fand ich großartig gelungen. Leider bleibt der Protagonist im Gegensatz dazu ein wenig blass. Richard rutscht eher zufällig in die Geschichte hinein, scheint aber nie so ganz anzukommen. Ich hatte immer wieder das Gefühl, dass er eher unbeteiligt vom Spielfeldrand aus als mitten aus dem Geschehen berichtet. Schade, denn gerade das Setting macht die Story zu etwas Besonderem, vor allem, wenn man sich in London ein wenig auskennt. ... It’s another area where literacy and humour can help kids build critical thinking skills so they question the messages they receive. Key to this is fostering reading cultures by valuing reading for pleasure. Humour is powerful. That’s why we addressed cyber bulling with ‘tweeting’ birds in That Birds Got Arms and used ridiculous froggy adbreaks in Frog Squad. It gets kids asking, who is talking to me? And the ending quite literally made me sob.😭 🥰 The Reading List follows the lives of a group of strangers who find connection and solace through a shared list of books. The characters come from diverse backgrounds and are dealing with various personal challenges, but their love for books brings them together in unexpected ways, helping them navigate life’s struggles. And as a reader, you can relate to the way that books can sometimes be the best therapy. 🥰 Vera Wongs unsolicited advice for murderers follows along with Vera Wong. A Chinese woman whose husband has passed away and whose son is now grown up and gone. One morning when Vera comes down to open her tea shop, she finds a dead body right there in the middle of her floor. And Vera takes it upon herself, and anyone who will listen to find out who killed this man. All while serving up the most delicious Chinese food made with love.
Bonjour, bonjour ! 🪷 Aujourd'hui c'est samedi donc voici mon post SP de la semaine 😁 📝 Résumé tome Voir la deuxième photo 😉 💡Mon avis 🪷 Je vous met ça au début : Je me suis donnée à fond sur le visuel, regardez les cartes (je suis trop fière) 🪷 J'ai tout simplement A.D.O.R.É ce livre ! Il était absolument génial, à commencer par les personnages qui sont certes, nombreux à la fin mais comme ils arrivent au fur et à mesure, on a aucun mal à suivre. De plus, petite particularité : aucun n'a de prénom, ce ne sont que des surnoms ! J'ai également adoré la relation qu'ils ont entre eux. Elle se développe plus ou moins doucement pour ceux qui ne se connaissaient pas où sont déjà bien fortes pour ceux qui se connaissent et/ou qui ont un passé commun. Ces relations sont très bien expliqué et j'ai vraiment adoré. Pour les amateurs d'amour il y en a même si c'est très peu, ça rehausse (si je puis dire) l'histoire. 🪷 Histoire que j'ai adoré d'ailleurs 🤩 Pour commencer, l'héroïne est absolument badass et sait s'imposer. En plus, l'idée du café à deux facettes (une café et une bar érotique) est super intéressante et très bien exploré sans prendre tout le roman pour ne pas nous lasser. Non franchement super maîtrise.
