I admit it, early on at the beginning of my gym days I was doing the same thing. Set myself a program and half way through it I would start looking at what to do next. Whatโ€™s that new program, or exercise that would get me instant results and edge over others that I can show off and be admired for. I was in competition with everyone and did everything I could come across. In this day and age of fitness it is very easy to get swept in into trends that promise instant results without any effort needed but deliver very little. Itโ€™s almost damn impossible to stay the course and do what you need to do. Train old school, using trusted exercises that worked for decades honing in on technique. Some 10 years ago my own trainer did the same with me what I laid out here in this infographic. Actually, body builder Danny Padilla โ€œThe Giant Killerโ€ did the same workouts for decades. Muscle building๐Ÿ’ช This is an area that people often struggle with. All you have to do is look online and youโ€™ll see the next big thing for gaining muscle or lose fat in a certain area. As most of you know by the pictures I post๐Ÿ˜‰, I have been on a fitness journey the past few years. I have been working towards CLAIMING my body back from Cancer, Endometriosis, Ovarian cysts, Hysterectomy, being septic, hormones all over the place and STRESS! 6 months ago I decided to get a physical trainer to help with lifting weights. I needed more of a push and direction. @amysimmons has been nothing but informative, encouraging, understanding and willing to go the extra mile to accommodate any obstacles I have had! She pushed me and was EXACTLY what I needed! We sat down and came up with some goals to work toward! GOALS: Weight of 125lbs โœ… now 123lbs Lose 6% body fat โœ… lost 7% bf Gain muscle โœ… What I have noticed: * I am more determined than ever to continue to make goals for myself and achieve them! * Immune system is up. I have not gotten sick in quite awhile. * My energy levels are through the roof! * Confidence is up! * Iโ€™m happier and STRONGER!!! * Stress is easier to manage! And for once in along time I feel in control of my body and health! ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿป Fitness is a life long journey and can be very difficult when you have swords thrown at you every time you stand up. I am proud of myself and how far I have come in the last 12 years. These last 3 have been such a time of growth and reflection of what I am capable of. Today was my last training sesh with Amy but The journey continues and I now have more GOALS to accomplish! Most people want to see results immediately.โฃ โฃ We work our asses off in the gym and kitchen and, understandably, want to see the fruits of our labor ASAP.โฃ โฃ Many sleazy companies and coaches feed into this desire, promoting supplements, workout programs, and diet plans while promising rapid results.โฃ โฃ I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but remarkable results take time. There are no shortcuts for natural lifters โ€” stay patient.โฃ โฃ Your workouts must facilitate progressive overload. GRADUALLY performing more reps for a given exercise or GRADUALLY increasing the weight you're using for a given number of reps indicates that you're training provides the stimulus your muscles need to grow.โฃ โฃ Eat adequate calories and protein so your muscles have the raw materials to grow.โฃ โฃ Ensure adequate sleep and control stress (to the best of your ability, given life and family circumstances), so your muscles can recover and grow.โฃ โฃ Be patient as hell.โฃ โฃ Make changes in your training program as needed to ensure progress and boost motivation without changing things too frequently. Otherwise, you'll spend more time learning new movements than growing muscle and gaining strength.โฃ โฃ That's it.
