Truly this has to be my #1 fave tipš„to any wellbeing restoration or maintenance. Some people embark on treatments expecting a one hit wonder. Donāt get me wrong I do love a quick fix, but often we donāt end up in a state of imbalance randomly and we need some time to u pick the situation. It is a culmination of often months or years of poor diet and lifestyle choices (including those that donāt match the environment or season of life we are in) and harboured emotions, the āseven evilsā as the ancient Chinese texts call it. So it takes a while to get to point (B) then thereās going to be an unpicking process to get back to point (A). Clinical results can be expedited by regular and consistent Yang Shen practices guided by your CM dr and sticking to treatment plan including taking your herbs as prescribed. This is your medicine. When people complain about not finding the time or forgetting or not prioritising treatments or some other form of self sabotage I always come back to normalise setting a new habit. āThis is what we do now: we take herbs in the morning and at night, we set a bettime alarm for 8:30pm and in bed by 9pm, we eat breakfast daily, we have a glass of water before a glass of wine etc..." Rather than get caught up in the āthis is another thing for me to doā narrative we normalise it like brushing our teeth or having a shower. We do the 1%-ers, the low effort / low time commitment things so that we set and forget the habit and over time we can reap the rewards and benefits. Thatās the only way you are going to get bang for buck and getting the medicine to work. Learning to recognise when you're in a self sabotage moment, expecting unrealistic results, and not confusing the situation by starting and stopping new things all the time (panic mode) certainly helps. Your future self will thank you. This has become my new mantra. It has served me incredibly well for decisions big and small, and is so very different from my drinking days. I realized I was out of coffee at 9:30 last night. Those of you who have been following along for a while know how much I LOVE my morning coffee. The forecast was calling for snow overnight, so I ventured out to Target at 9:30pm because I knew my future self would thank me. I woke up to snow/ice and all the coffee my heart desired. This may seem like a minor thing - and it is in the big picture, but these small choices have been life-changing. Theyāve added up to BIG happiness and fulfillment and peace. When I was drinking, I couldnāt plan ahead. I couldnāt see past that first drink of the day. Despite my best intentions, my evenings and mornings looked the same. I spent my nights drinking on the couch, and my mornings nursing hangovers, laden with shame and regret. I was so focused on the drink that I was abandoning my true self, along with my To Do list and everything else truly good for me. As I was driving home last night, I gave thanks for this new, beautiful, quiet life and all that sobriety has given me. That one decision has changed everything. So if you need a reminder todayā¦. Some days I just wrap up warm like everyone else and take a walk with friends. Yes I do cold exposure almost every day in some form. This doesn't mean I jump in ice each day...maybe I walk the dog in shorts, or climb a mountain, maybe I take a swim in the river or a cold shower in a warm room...this doesn't mean you have to do that to get the benefits. I'm training, I'm doing the unusual and pushing boundaries but you don't have to. Don't make this a competition. Most of my participants are female and the female body is complicated, listen to what it is telling you and do that. Do not get sucked in by the ego, the manufactured rule of thumb that social media is full of. Listen carefully to what your body is whispering...just remember self care is not always doing the easy stuff. Anthony and I do not live the same way He doesnāt train at the gym multiple times a week He doesnāt eat the same way I do most of the time (seriously this guy eats everything and loves his pasta and desserts, multiple times a week he makes a pie, cookies, cinnamon rolls, you name it, he is a big sweet tooth guy ā¤ļø He doesnāt stress over his step goals or how much sleep he is getting He snacks late night after the kids go to bed- again multiple times a week he is eating ice cream in bed He can also get away with all this because he works his ass off all day working in construction while I am sitting most of the day at my desk and NEED to schedule workouts to be active. We are not the same. But guess what?? šš”šš ššØšš¬š§āš š¦ššš§ š¢š ššššššš¬ šš”š š°šš² š š„š¢šÆš! I hear too often āmy husband sabotaged my goals by ordering pizza for dinnerā āMy husband brought home cookiesā āMy husband wanted to go out for drinksā āMy husband blah blah blahā Your goals are not his they areā¦ ššššš! Your husband or partner does not have to live the same way you do to be successful and he for sure isnāt sabotaging your goals. YOU ARE!!! And to be clear he fully supports how I eat as well and I definitely have some of the treats from time to time and have learned how to make it fit in my goals in moderation. This is why I also donāt necessarily agree with if it temps you get it out of the house completely. We have to learn how to be around food and heal our relationship with food. Because there are always going to be temptations at home, at social gatherings or in the break room at work. Day 38 - 40to40 Self Sabotage Iām still learning not to self sabotage and battle myself daily with it. This is something Iāve struggled with my entire life. As a result of my trauma I feel that I shouldnāt burden people (even when it really isnāt a burden at all). No matter how excited I am about something, even if Iām the one who makes all the plans, I still, more times than not start to change the planās because Iām worried about putting others out. I get in my head and ultimately I self sabotage. - My birthday for example. My friends and Lover gifted me with the ultimate gift this summer, a surprise party (5 month early!), which didnāt allow me to self sabotage & just enjoy the celebration. I could have an incredible opportunity in front of me but Iāll procrastinate leading to self sabotaging because I live with the belief that I donāt deserve the opportunity. Iāve lost out on opportunities in the past all because Iāve stopped myself from following through because I live with a voice telling me that Iām not deserving. But Iām learning, Iām learning to unlearn this negative pattern of self sabotage. Awareness was the first step towards actively trying to stop and healing that broken piece of me. Home without is a home within. To escape outside is to escape within and vice versa, there can be no sepration. Sit on your edge now, your edge between comfort and discomfort. A life of fire without any sight of the flow. Because this is how it should be all or nothing as every experience will show. For every fire storm serves its purpose in light. Just as every wounded musculine is still occupied with an inner fight. There is no seperation, but in the knowing that everything is only a temporary physical experience. Therefore it is from within the abyss that space exist. Space is empty, but it is from this emptiness that creation is born. It is from nothingness that oneness is formed. And from one contrast comes the next, Just as when the fire burns out, the tides will change and the water will rise. To fully immerse oneself is to truly surrender in flow even if one is completing drowning in disguise. This is too truly immerse yourself within the deep waters and oceans. āGood things take timeā is what Iāve been reminding myself when anxiety about where I am in my journey toward fulfilling my purpose sets in. When imposter syndrome wells up in my gut (which I hate to say happens FAR more often than Iād like to admit, which is crazy for someone who doesnāt do anything without certified credentials, experience and receipts). When I write out these amazing ideas and processes that I think can change peopleās lives for the better, and I somehow talk myself out of NINETY percent of them. When I think of milestones I set and missed while conveniently forgetting the many incredible ones Iāve hit. When I am, year after year, my own worst critic and so hard on myself that itās actually on my list of things to discuss with my therapist because it really has to stop, because it keeps me from saying yes to things I keep saying no to. Things Iām almost certain God is sending my way but in full transparency Iām not trusting either of us enough to embrace them. And while usually the āgood thingā that takes time is some goal or dream, right now, the good thing is me. And as much as I want to power through these issues to get to (more) good stuff, Iām recognizing and accepting it may take some time to get to (more of) the good work thatās begun in me. I don't like to give up on people when they need someone not to give up on them. My peers tell me Iām probably one of the most loyal people they know. Loyalty for me is not about length of time, but about human connection, decency and sincere empathy. I talk a lot about resilience. When people think about that word, they typically think about resilience of self. But what about resilience of our goals, dreams, relationships and vision ? This is so incredibly inner-connected with loyalty as well. A big part of what I have the privilege to do every day with my clients and those in my life is help them hang in there when things get tough. It could be negative self talk, lack of self worth, fear, uncertainty, our pasts, confusion, a reaction or response to a world pandemic etc...in fact my own entire personal brand is built on resilience. I loved getting back to networking last week with @lauratearejones and her @get_itdoneclub, as well as my own @network_she netwalk. I met and spent time with some fabulous ladies, and it got me thinking a lot about why Iām so passionate about helping business owners. So often we set up our small business because traditional employed roles just arenāt working for us. I really believe that designing a business that fits around our situation can be the best thing we ever do, especially for us women who have so many competing priorities and challenges. Evening gorgeous! š Our beautiful moon will beam at her fullness today and tomorrow (Thursday 31st August 2023). This energy of the Full Moon is an opportunity to ask the deeper questions that we mightnāt necessarily want to answer despite those questions being pertinent to our souls growth (and toward feeling good about yourself and your life). So for this full moon, the questions that came up were: āDo you feel that you are deserving to be in a really good relationship?ā and āDo you feel that thereās any part of you that might be getting in the way of a relationship blossoming?āā¦ā¦.. I get it, we donāt always want to admit that weāre sabotaging our happiness ā but yet we still do it and this can show up in our relationships. Zelf sabotage Waarom doen we dat? Je hebt ooit een beslissing gemaakt je niet meer kwetsbaar op te stellen. Dit is een onbewust besluit geweest vanuit een gekwetst kind deel. Waarschijnlijk weet je niet eens dat je ooit die beslissing/overtuiging, genomen hebt. Deze beslissing is ooit genomen op iets overweldigends en pijnlijks. Zo pijnlijk dat het voor een kind (nog) niet voelbaar is maar voor jou als volwassene wel. De overtuiging is wel vanuit een kind stuk, om dit nooit meer te voelen/ervaren. Je hebt jezelf ook beloofd nooit meer aan te geven wat je nodig hebt in dit stuk. Of niet meer je hart open te stellen, nooit meer te vertrouwen, nooit meer jezelf helemaal te laten zien etc. Dit is de perfecte manier om jezelf te beschermen en de controle te pakken als je, je niet in je kracht voelt staan. Het probleem is dat dit besluit te groot is en je leven controleert. Waakzaamheid als er liefde op je pad komt of een (leer/groei)uitdaging zich aandient. Je zelf defense treed dan in werking waardoor je jezelf beperkt. Je systeem ervaart het als groot gevaar en zorgt voor uitstel, isolatie, vermijden, perfectionisme en soms zelfs verslaving. Eigenlijk is dit allemaal angst!! Angst voor die pijn. Als je kunt gaan erkennen en herkennen waar dit vandaan komt en waar het over gaat, realiseer je je dat het een onnodige angst is. Als kind kon je de pijn niet ervaren die je nu zo goed voelt. Zodra je weet waar het vandaan komt kun je het gaan weerleggen en deze pijn/angst gaan reguleren. Jezelf weer open stellen, liefhebben en je vrij voelen is wat er dan mag zijn.

Self-compassion can easily be an oversight and a challenge for humans. This trends us to also be very judgmental of ourselves and generates perfectionist tendencies. We are so hard on ourselves, to a point that what could be healthy drive, optimism, growth etc becomes anxiety, procrastination and depression. Picture on the left came up as a memory today. It was taken on our first vacation 20 years ago this upcoming September. Picture on the right was taken last night. Our relationship is the strongest itās ever been and is ever evolving. We have absolute commitment and loyalty and a deeper growing love every day. Our appreciation for one another is on a whole other level. We used to be incredibly stubborn people, operating from conditioned beliefs and expectations. I used to hate being questionedā¦about anything, was fiercely independent and had a super charged need to be right about everything (a coping mechanism) from early childhood trauma. We both had pain, distrust, fears and insecurities from life experiences and relationships, but we were willing and wanted to work on ourselves and together as a couple. We are reaping the benefits from our hard work and there is no better feeling than to be loved truly unconditionally for exactly who you are. The beginning of our relationship wasnāt easy. Major external factors tried to separate us multiple times. We didnāt budge. We stayed together through it all and we probably wouldnāt have made if we werenāt willing to do the inner work and we did it tirelessly. Forgiveness - without it, we wouldnāt have made it. Forgiving the other and most especially ourselves for the decisions we made from ego and the behaviors that followed suit. Through our upbringing or our genetic tendencies or even our star signs we can be predisposed to wanting to be perfect and have life perfectly sorted out so we feel in control of everything but there is a tipping point where it becomes unhealthy and counterproductive and suddenly when life throws us some curveballs and we can't keep up that level of perfection it effects us physically and mentally and it shows through anxiety and high stress and feeling we are not good enough because we are not achieving our perfectionist standard as things seem out of control! (when they possibly aren't but our expectations are so high they can't be met of course) Through becoming aware that perfectionism might have tipped us out of balance and then to re learn that our selfworth and enoughness does not depend on having everything perfectly organised and planned in life, we can learn to detach ourselves from the belief that we are only good enough if everything is perfect! The key is to shift our mindset from Lack to Abundance. The concept of abundance can look different for everyone, but typically people thought that it means having access to an unlimited supply of whatever we need - be it wealth, health, wellness, spirituality, relationships and friendships or any other form of abundance. Unfortunately, there are many more myths that surround abundance - like it's only available to a select few or that itās too good to be true. These false beliefs create blocks and cause us to self-sabotage when we start to experience feelings of abundance. The truth is that abundance is something that is accessible for every single one of us. All we have to do is open ourselves up to receiving it and let go of our mental blocks. By recognising that there is an abundance of opportunity in the world for everyone, we can begin to create a life filled with more than enough.
