The photographs are from the Society’s glass negatives. Photographs of the late 19th Century life in Manheim, living in a log home. The only inscription is C. Toland. Home location unknown. Mrs. Toland washes the dishes from a table in another corner of the log home. The kitchen cabinet is on the corner with a small clock on top of it. Not much storage was required in the kitchen of the 18th century. Note: The photograph of what appears to be a young child above her head. This could be a grandchild. Photographs were available in this area after 1860. Last week a group of dedicated volunteers from Target Distribution Center 587 came to beautify a few of our spaces for the individuals and families we serve. Though the weather was chilly, it didn’t stop this group from making a huge impact on our outdoor space! This same group of people, and more from their center, have also partnered with us for Holiday Giving and provided truly remarkable holiday seasons for our client families. Target is such a great partner because we both understand that we all deserve beautiful and peaceful surroundings.
