My beautiful friend @amber.luise.celeste got me back into reading with Sarah J Maas books a few years ago. So far I have read her Throne of Glass series, the A Court of Thorns and Roses series, and I am now reading the Crescent City Series. Sarah J Mass's books are so well written and captivating. Her female lead characters are such strong inspiring women, and the friendships between the characters are truly beautiful. The romance in them is petty spicey too haha! It feels so good reading again, I haven't been so excited to read again in a long time! June et Nolan c'est la romance de ce livre, c'est June qui porte la plus grande parole, Nolan est plus réservé sur les chapitres🤭, mais quand il le fait, c'est bien, c'est beau, c'est émouvant. June et Nolan c'est une rencontre qui devait se faire, l'un ne va pas sans l'autre, ils se complètent. In einer verlassenen Lungenheilanstalt haben Jugendliche, die auf Geistersuche waren, eine grauenhafte Entdeckung gemacht. In Statuen vor der Klinik sind mehrere mumifizierte Leichen gefunden worden. Dieses lässt nun Cora keine Ruhe und so beschließt sie, die Cold Case Einheit des LKA zu unterstützen. Dabei führt die Spur des Verbrechens in die düstere Vergangenheit der Klinik zurück, wie auch in die Gegenwart. Kriminalhauptkommissar Till Moritz ist ebenfalls involviert, denn der Sanatoriumsmord bleibt kein Cold Case, sondern weist mysteriöse Verbindungen zu den aktuellen Fällen auf. Hier will jemand mit allen Mitteln verhindern, dass die wahre Geschichte ans Licht kommt. Werden Cora Brecht und Till Moritz diese Fälle aufklären können? Das Cover passt perfekt. Der Schreibstil ist flüssig und die einzelnen Kapitel gehen nahtlos ineinander über. Die Protagonisten werden detailliert dargestellt, sodass man sich in sie hineinversetzen kann. Auch die Umgebungen werden optimal beschrieben. Von Anfang an baut sich eine Spannung auf, die bis zum Schluss gehalten wird. Das Zwischenmenschliche kommt auch nicht zu kurz. Während des Lesens hatte ich oft ein Gänsehautgefühl, denn das Gelesene hat mich manchmal sehr erschüttert, denn man kann sich gar nicht vorstellen, wozu Menschen fähig sein können. Auch sind einige Tränen geflossen, denn das, was geschehen ist, damals wie auch jetzt, hat mich sehr berührt. Von mir gibt es eine absolute Leseempfehlung und ich freue mich schon auf die Fortsetzung mit Cora Brecht. Silna kobieta, bardzo mocna osobowość, kreatorka, córka, siostra, żona, matka, babka i prababka - królowa. Paola Calvetti ciekawie prowadzi nas przez życie Elżbiety II. Posługuje się obrazem, fotografią, tworzy z czytelnika wręcz fotoreportera, dziennikarza, który robi co może, by złapać odpowiednie ujęcie. Ten sposób narracji, ten pomysł wyjątkowo przypadł mi do gustu. Samych zdjęć nie jest w książce dużo, ale te, które się pojawiają zostały mądrze dobrane i robią wrażenie. Ja wybierałam fragmenty, które mnie najbardziej interesują. Dużą przyjemność czerpałam z czytania o dzieciństwie królowej, a potem o miłości do Filipa. Myślę, że to właśnie dzieciństwo i miłość ukształtowały jej osobowość - reszta, to historia. "ELŻBIETA II portrety królowej", to nie tylko biografia Elżbiety - to biografia pewnej epoki. Nie da się mówić o jej życiu, bez kontekstu historycznego, politycznego, społecznego. Może nie jestem jakąś ogromną fanką brytyjskiej rodziny królewskiej (w sensie nie śledzę ich losów z wypiekami na policzkach), ale uważam, ze są ważni dla Brytyjczyków i, że spajają ich naród. Kto by co nie mówił, to piękna tradycja i oby trwała, bo nie wyrywa się korzeni. Książka została naprawdę świetnie wydana. Polska okładka jest ładniejsza od zagranicznych. Twarda oprawa i złote litery, ponadto dobrej jakości papier i atrakcyjny grzbiet. Even though we already know what happens in the first book, it feels fresh. The story is told from Casteels point of view from the first book. He is basically re-telling the first time he met Poppy and the events that followed. I actually really liked seeing his motives from the get-go and how he thought and felt throughout the story. From going hell bent on kidnapping the maidan to seeing who she really was and not being what he expected. The romance and banter are perfect! ♥️ I LOVE the from blood and ash world, and I was excited when JLA announced we would get a book from Cas's point of view, and it did not disappoint. There's snippets of the present thrown in that I think will be important to the next book, so it's definitely worth reading!
