How To Kill A Guy In Ten Ways Book Review 📖 Thank you again to Susan for another great buddy read. I'll forgive you for reading ahead 😂 This was a great easy read, despite some of the chapters being on the long side. For me, you can't beat the Sweet Pea series, Rhiannon is the OG female serial killer, and the only one that has come close has been How To Kill Men And Get Away With It. This, however, is a strong contender. The first half of the book was a bit slower paced, and me and Susan both felt it didn't quite match up to the blurb. You do have to suspend belief somewhat, as things felt a little too easy at times, but this isn't a book you have to take too seriously, so it works. The second half of this book though, is where it came alive, and I can absolutely see why Susan stormed ahead. It definitely got pretty tense towards the end, and in true buddy read style we both finished early. With books like this, you can't help but root for the MC, and although Millie wasn't a particularly likeable character, you definitely wanted her to get the bad guy. I did feel sad for her in parts, especially when she describes her past. As much as she clearly didn't like people, you could tell she loved her sister and best friend Nina. Well done to Susan for putting two and two together and absolutely smashing four on the head with her theory, I was completely in the dark until the end! If you have enjoyed books by C.J.Skuse, Katy Brent or Bella Mackie, then this one will be for you! A great debut 4.5⭐️ Thank you to @netgalley for the advance copy I exchange for an honest review.

The Silence Factory Book Review 📖 I can't say this is one of those books where you're hooked from the start. I felt it was difficult to get into, I found myself re reading the same line over again, and my mind was wondering to anything other than the book. The blurb intruiged me though, and I wanted to read on. The chapters were quite long and alternated between Henrys POV and then Sophias POV in the form of her diary entries. To start with, I preferred Henrys POV, but as we went on, I started to quite enjoy both parts, but it wasn't long before my mind started to wonder again, and I debated carrying on. There was nothing wrong with the writing, it was very descriptive, and I could easily imagine the places described, but ultimately, I found it very slow going and quite boring. I got to almost 50% and put it on pause for my buddy read and have absolutely no inclinination to pick it back up. Nothing has really happened yet, and I feel like nothing will probably happen until about 90% - I might google the ending just to see what it was all about. I can't say I'd recommend this one, especially if you dont like spiders. Shame because I wanted to like this. DNF Do you DNF? What was the last book you DNF'D

The 20 Book Review 📖 Finally getting these five star thrillers that I've been waiting so impatiently for all year. What a ride this was. I was hoping it was going to be a good one after loving The Echo Man last year, and this one did not disappoint. I'd say it was better! Right from the prologue up until the last page, this book had me well and truly in its grip! I felt chills, it was creepy, especially the chapters from the perpetrators POV, where people were being watched 👀 I double and tripple checked my doors were locked each evening while reading. The chapters were short and packed one hell of a punch. There was gore, twisted characters and a lot of indecision from us in the buddy read about who the killer was, I think at one point we guessed, but we changed our mind so many times after - @samhollandbooks definately kept us on our toes. A brilliantly written thriller that is a must-read for thriller fans. Absolutely cannot wait for Sam Hollands' third book to be out soon. 5⭐️ Thank you Susan @mynextreads and Amy @amylostinbooks for the buddy read 🫶🏻

Then She Was Gone Book Review 📖 When I saw Lisa Jewell just over a week ago, she spoke about writing Then She Was Gone, and the mood reader in me started screaming pick it up..pick it up now! So here we are. I picked it up, I read it, no, I devoured it, I was obsessed. I read in four days. This is the thriller I've been waiting for. It's just one of those books that has you sucked in right from the start. The short chapters made it really easy to read, and before I knew it, I was half way through. It's split into five parts, with both alternating timelines and POV that leaves you on the edge of your seat. I had absolutely no idea where this was going, and it literally made me 😲 so many times. This book goes to places that you absolutely would never imagine. There is not a single thing I guessed. It's definitely a darker read, and it absolutely delivered what I've been waiting for, and then some. All the stars, this book is brilliant and a must read for thriller fans. 5⭐️

The Dream Home Book Review 📖 Like a few other books I've read, written by T.M.Logan, this is told predominantly from the POV of Adam. It makes a really nice change to read from a mans point of view, and right from page one, I was sucked into his story, the short chapters making it easy to keep turning the pages, however it didn't take long for me to realise that I found Adam to be quite an annoying character with his constant need to find answers. In saying that, the theories and ideas were soon running through my head as I started to build a picture of where this was going. As much as Adam frustrated me, I felt really tense as things spiralled out of control for him, and what was great about this book is that you could never be quite sure who to trust, and my theories were proved wrong on several occasions. The first half of this book is very much a slow burn, but as I hit the halfway mark, the pace ramped up more, and I struggled to put it down. I definitely felt creeped out in parts. For me however, the pace felt up and down throughout the second half of the book, one minute I was hooked and turning the pages, the next I felt it was starting to drag, then I'd be hooked again. That last 10% though 🤯 I had my hand covering the bottom of the page, as I didn't trust my eyes not to flick down to the bottom and ruin it for myself. As always, Logan has delivered a great book, and while not my favourite, it is brilliantly written. Personally, my preference as a reader is not to have the main character 'turn detective', which is what perhaps let this one down for me. There was also, one aspect of the story line that I wasn't fully on board with, and if it it been slightly 🤏 shorter it could have been a 4 star read for me, but unfortunately, due to those little points I give this 3.5⭐️ Saying this, I'd absolutely recommend this, and I'm looking forward to the other three T.M.Logan books I have on my shelf. The Murder After The Night Before Book Review 📖 After reading and loving Katy Brents debut How to Kill Men And Get Away With It, I couldn't wait to jump into this one, and went in completely blind, and I think that is where I went wrong - my fault and not the book. Looking on Goodreads, Im well and truly in the minority, so don't be put off. I think I was expecting similar vibes, and it certainly starts off that way with the witty humour, and then it takes a different turn, which I wasn't expecting. It's a very current read tackling the toxic side of social media, and I found it very engaging. Molly was a great main character, but I wish we found out more of her back story rather than the one chapter at the end. Despite everything you can tell she is a very loyal person. It's super easy read and I had no problems turning the pages, but I just didn't get that 'Im loving this and cant wait to pick it up feeling' until we got closer to the end. I was grateful for the shorter chapters, especially after the long chapters in the last book I read. Overall, I'd give this 3.5⭐️ but again, don't let this put you off if you're looking forward to this one, as looking at Goodreads there are soo many five stars! I’m starting a new routine ✨ Weekend mornings are for cozy reading. So, if you don’t know, I work in end of life care. Another term you may have heard of is hospice. It’s beautiful work. Sacred work. Rewarding work. And it is also heavy work. My soul has felt heavy, my heart has felt sad, and as much as I practice compartmentalization I still need to find routines of comfort. In the past I’d go to the bookstore and spend $100 easy. This year, I’m not. In the past, I’d eat crap food and be lazy. This year, I’m working with a therapist to evaluate and process my relationship with nutrition and fitness. I’m becoming more mindful of how I feel when I eat, how food tastes instead of shoveling it, and working out with my neighbors who make me laugh and sweat and cry. I’m trying and for me, that’s all that really matters. I’m coming into a new season and I’m excited. So for now, I’m starting my weekends slow. Diving into worlds that are beautiful and intricate and intriguing. All with a coffee in my hand and a cozy blanket over my lap. Happy Wednesday! January has always felt like the longest month of the year and this year was no exception. This is where most of us Oregonians are beginning to constantly day dream about sunny summer days in order to get through the rest of the grey, cold, and rainy weather. Today my daughter had math tutoring which meant one hour of uninterrupted coffee and reading time which has become my favorite escape from the weather. What is your preferred reading format? Mine has been the kindle lately because it’s easy and convenient and it fits in almost any bag I have. ————————————— !Feliz miércoles! Small Secrets Book Review 📖 I've seen a few reviews for this and loved the sound of it, so when @kayleyisreading gave me the heads up it was on kindle unlimited, I was straight on it. I decided to listen to it and loved the way the first chapter was really like a podcast. It had me reeled in straight away. I seemed to plod on slowly for a little while wondering where it was going (this was probably more down to me not having a lot of time to listen) when suddenly something happened that made me sit up and think, and I was hooked again. I loved the fact that there were podcast episodes throughout, it made it seem more real. It started to get really tense, and I had to switch to reading as I couldn't wait to pick it up. I do have a big red flag when it comes to thrillers, amd thats when the MC starts doing the investigation themselves, and at times I wanted to shout at my kindle 'why are you doing this?!' but i looked past that as i was enjoying it so much, and once the perspectives switched, I just wanted to devour it. At one point or other, I suspected everyone, and ultimately, I was right, but it was a great ride getting there. I got real 'The Echo Man' vibes with this, so if that was something you enjoyed, then I think you'll like this too. 📚 Coffee + My Kindle 📚 This is where I am escaping my life currently. #coffeeandcurrentlyreading Good Elf, Gone Wrong #currentkindleread #kindleandcoffee Quick life update… First of all, thank you everyone who reached out and messaged with kind words and support. It was uplifting in a very stressful time. Second, our basement no longer is full of water. Yay for that! But, we are slowly going through the clean out phase now. Everything down there was damaged and ruined. There were so many sentimental things that just can’t be replaced. On top of that our boiler/furnace ended up breaking due to being submerged in water. We had no heat for a couple of days. But, it is all fixed and we once again have heat!! Thank God I had already done all our Christmas shopping so our teens will still get gifts. Thank God we had the right amount left in emergency fund to cover the repairs. The amount is still something that makes me want to vomit but, we will get through. Third, I’m still dealing with the sadness of the things that are a loss. This happening just before Christmas has put a huge damper on the season for me. A holiday season that I was already struggling to feel the joy in. So my posts will be slow going. Thank you all for still being here and not unfollowing. You all mean the world to me. If you have read this far I want to wish you and yours a very joyous and Merry Christmas!! Thorn In My Side Book Review 📖 Oh ceej what have you done to me 😟🥺 how can you leave it there!?! Things happened to my eyes 😅 I've been looking forward to this one since I finished Dead Head in February last year, and it did not disappoint. Rhiannon was back on form with her sarcasm and wit, there were so many moments that made me laugh out loud, but at the same time I feel like we get to know Rhiannon, or Ophelia as shes's now known, just that little bit more. I don't think you can beat that freshness and unexpectedness that comes with Book One in a series, but I still laughed, I still rooted for Rhiannon, and I saw a new side to her too. Shes's a great character and can't wait to find out how her story ends. 5⭐️ Thank you to @netgalley for an advance copy of this book!
