Miss Morgan’s Book Brigade by Janet Skeslein Charles ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 I have read a lot about WWI, both fiction and non-fiction and this was on a topic that I knew very little about. Based on a true story, Jessie Carson, a librarian at New York Public Library, goes to France to work for CARD. Located just miles from the war, she and other women work together to help rebuild French communities - she is especially focused on a children’s library in a mobile van. It is told in alternating perspectives - in 1918 and 1987. The 1987 timeline is told from NYPL Librarian, Wendy Peterson. She starts learning about Jessie Carson and the CARDS - researching to write a book about them. The research done on this book was incredible. The story told was wonderful - heartbreaking and heartwarming all at once. I loved the dual timelines - i was never confused or unhappy reading from either perspective. Enjoy! Local Woman Missing Mary Kubica Physical 352 pgs ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ . . . Missing children, missing woman. Suspense, mystery, twists…I enjoyed this one! It was one of those “I need to know what happens next! I can’t put it down.” for me. It took a few chapters to get me hooked, but once it did, I was in it and finished in a day and a half! ✨️REZENSION✨️ Die Einladung - Sebastian Fitzek Ich bin aktuell dabei, meinen Sub abzuarbeiten, und hatte mal wieder richtig Lust auf einen Fitzek - wie passend, dass "die Einladung" noch auf meinem Sub lag. 🙉 Ich habe das Buch innerhalb eines Tages gelesen - wir wissen ja alle, dass man Fitzek-Bücher nicht aus der Hand legen kann. 🥲 Darum geht's: Klassentreffen wird zum Alptraum In Vorfreude auf ein verlängertes Wochenende in den Alpen folgt Marla Lindberg der Einladung zu einem Klassentreffen. Doch schon kurz nach der Ankunft wird ihr klar: Es gibt nur eins, was tödlicher ist, als das abgeschiedene Berghotel nachts im eisigen Schneetreiben wieder zu verlassen. Es nicht zu tun … Meine Meinung: 3,5 von 5 Sterne ⭐️ Story und Setting find ich super. So viele Rätsel, so viele Geheimnisse, ich war die ganze Zeit am mitfiebern und grübeln. Das Setting in einer abgelegenen Hütte, ohne Empfang und Entkommen, ist total gruselig und mysteriös. Es ist eine junge Geschichte, die Protagonistin ist 23 Jahre alt und auch der Großteil der anderen Charaktere befinden sich in diesem Alter. Trigger: Pädophilie, Selbstmord, Mobbing Das Buch ist zwar absolut packend, aber genauso verwirrend. Es gibt vergleichsweise zu anderen Fitzek-Büchern wenige shocking moments (das Badewannen-Video und den Planen-Mensch fand ich nicht schlimm genug 😅), denn hier stehen eher die Psychospielchen im Vordergrund. Teilweise habe ich ein Kapitel 2 mal gelesen, da so viel passiert und man teilweise schwer mitkommt. Wie immer bei Fitzek viel Wendungen und Irrwege. Die Plotttwists haben bis zum letzten Kapitel nicht aufgehört, und waren mir irgendwann zu viel. Als ich es beendet habe, hatte ich tausende Fragezeichen im Kopf. AGGGTM Review: just finished this book & OMG.. I’m still recovering 😅 honestly, at first I thought it was kinda YA & felt like it was predictable.. but once I reached part 2 of the book, things started getting more interesting & I was hooked. I absolutely did NOT expect the plot twist in the storyline, I was trying to figure out which character was guilty & I was superrrr wrong 😭 I know this is book 1/3, now I wanna finish the entire series cause I’m invested but I borrowed this book so idk if I will 🥲 BUT I did see that there is a show or movie coming to Netflix soon soooo I cannot wait to see it !! Ho amato, infatti, come ogni capitolo si apra col titolo di un romanzo diverso. Ho amato le tante citazioni presenti e i tanti scrittori menzionati. Queste pagine offrono, infatti, tanti nuovi spunti di lettura. Ho amato come questa storia insegni a non giudicare mai un libro dalla sua copertina. Un messaggio importante che diventa anche, e soprattutto, metafora di vita: non bisogna mai giudicare una persona basandosi sulla sola apparenza. I libri diventano lo strumento attraverso cui viene cucita una bellissima storia che ha la capacità di coinvolgere intensamente. Tra queste pagine troviamo, infatti, una bellissima amicizia, tanta ironia, dei personaggi caratterizzati alla perfezione. Ma, soprattutto, troviamo una storia d'amore che saprà conquistare il cuore di noi anime romantiche e sognatrici. È una lettura che ogni booklover dovrebbe assolutamente fare.
