Since 2017, I've trained solely to be a linear athlete (straight forward and backwards), but now I'm moving into an athletic sphere where I personally think I need to develop a high level of overall speed, power, strength, agility, and endurance to be a strong contributer. I know that building power and agility will be the hardest aspects of this training because being great at long endurance takes away from those two things, and long endurance is what I built for 3-4 years prior. Also, eating enough calories to add some size - that's challenging and expensive. All doable though! Burpees take two basic movements - squats into jumps and planks into push-ups - and join them together into a single dynamic series that requires explosiveness and finesse (i.e. core control). Commonly just done as a static stretch, doing this movement prior to holding the stretch can work on decreasing pain by moving through a full controlled range of motion first. Grip switches are super cool, aren’t they? 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼  To make them more dynamic the hips need to drive upward and create that moment of “float” to change your grip.  This is where I struggle...I can easily switch grips with brute strength alone, but I’m really working on getting that “pop”! So this pro tip comes from private lessons I took with @annavhh a few months back 😃  📌 PoleStrong Pro Tip: Train dynamically for dynamic movements! This exercise is a kettlebell hip thrust that gets the hips ready to pop in the air! 🔹 Note: Slow, controlled movements will build strength, but they won’t help with the power needed to drive the hips into the air. 🔹These will help with fonji prep as well! ✅ Grab a good sized kettlebell (15-25lbs) and stand with your feet about hip/shoulder width apart. ✅ Drop the hips back (like you’re sitting in a chair) and reach between your legs with the kettlebell. ✅ Drive up through the heels, let the kettlebell swing up to eye level (it won’t be heavy, momentum with lift it!) ❌Do not arch your back, squeeze your booty 🍑 at the top! ✨Give this a try as part of your warm up before any dynamic movements. 𝗞𝗡𝗘𝗘, 𝗙𝗢𝗢𝗧, 𝗢𝗥 𝗛𝗜𝗣 𝗣𝗔𝗜𝗡? Are you addressing 𝗠𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗧𝗥𝗢𝗟?⁣ ⁣ Have you been strengthening and stretching but the pain continues? Or did the pain subside for a short while, only for it to come back?⁣ ⁣ If so, it may be related to your 𝗠𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗣𝗔𝗧𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗡𝗦.⁣ ⁣ Movement patterns are those movements that your body does a hundred times a day. Those movements that have slight control deviation from the normal that build up repetitive stress over a joint or other area. Those movements you don’t even know you are doing.⁣ ⁣ This video shows a very athletic young man with good relative strength and good general movement patterns. He was able to squat with good form and was able to lift heavier weights without issue.⁣ ⁣ BUT once we added a secondary component to his squat (𝘔𝘦𝘥 𝘉𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘚𝘭𝘢𝘮 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘊𝘰𝘳𝘦/𝘜𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘳 𝘉𝘰𝘥𝘺 𝘗𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳), his right knee started to collapse in (genu valgus or medial deviation).⁣ ⁣ Did he start in a poor squat position? No.⁣ ⁣ He stayed in a fairly good lower body squat position until he started to slam the ball down. In this video, his right hip stabilizers were not doing their job to control the knee. ⁣ ⁣ So we need to address this -- BUT not only with strength and stability exercises, but with creating 𝗖𝗟𝗜𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗔𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗘𝗦𝗦 to their 𝗠𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗣𝗔𝗧𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗡𝗦. When you do this, you are improving the brain-to-body connection with awareness to the proper pattern. Repetition of this improved pattern then builds a stronger foundation for proper movement control.⁣ ⁣ So make sure you are 𝗔𝗦𝗦𝗘𝗦𝗦𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗗𝗬𝗡𝗔𝗠𝗜𝗖 𝗠𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗦 beyond your squats and lunges to “tease out” those movement patterns -- look at their jump, hop, integrated body movements (like this!), cutting, running, and any other multi-joint or multi-planar movement. ⁣ ⁣ Check back tomorrow for ways to address 𝗠𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗧𝗥𝗢𝗟 issues!⁣ ⁣ #physiomovementandperformance #physio #pt #physicaltherapy #knee #kneerehab #hip #hiprehab #movementpatterns #movementcontrol #dynamicmovement #dynamicmovementtraining

Commonly just done as a static stretch, doing this movement prior to holding the stretch can work on decreasing pain by moving through a full controlled range of motion first. Most times, when we want CHANGE we have to FORCE IT!
