Kept it steady except for the last 150m running to the line to keep it on track for 9Hrs. Change of socks for me with only 5 miles left. I could feel hotspots on both feet. Just back from the annual 'lads' trip to the Lakes. Quality night in Gillside and a quiet pint in the Travellers Rest turned into an epic 9 pint special as a retirement do landed along with some live music. Cue the next day, hangovers from hell and a 22km route over summits including a ferry ride to Howtown to start. Once again, a beer garden beckoned and it took a lot of will power to start the hike to Angle Tarn. Decent route back to Sanwick via Place Fell and the Ullswater Way back to Glenridding. Absolutely destroyed but top memories and I'll defo sleep well tonight ⛰️ Tents did the business and many were used - I was in the @nortent_of_norway Vern 2 at base, @tarptent Stratospire 1 on the fells and the other lads in the @durstongear X Mid and Lanshan 2 did Paul well. Best takeaway from the trip? Memories. This is what it's all about..... Punta Fetita, La Salle. Ormai chiamatemi Smilla ché sto imparando tutti i sensi della neve. Oggi, ad esempio, la neve mi dava i bacini: si posava sul viso coi suoi fiocchi leggeri e svolazzanti e si scioglieva come un piccolo bacio. Evidentemente è arrivata fino al cielo la mia voglia di coccoline. Poi è finito il bosco, alla neve si è unito il vento e la pendenza è diventata una diagonale bellissima perché dritto x dritto = vetta. In discesa dalla cima, di nuovo il bosco e l'ho attraversato in silenzio perché l'equilibrio non va disturbato troppo se ad ogni passo puoi trovare il ghiaccio fra gli aghi di abete. Una volta indossati i ramponcini, il sentiero è arrivato presto fino al parcheggio. E i tre giorni fuori dal tempo sono finiti. Sarei rimasta in quel bosco incantato almeno una vita ancora: a seguire le impronte di caprioli, lepri, piccoli scoiattoli e arvicole, a salutare tutti gli abeti e imparare a riconoscere i ginepri uno a uno. E continuare a sentire i bacini di neve fino all'arrivo del giorno giusto anche per me. Pumlumon 752m is the highest point of the Cambrian Mountains in Wales (taking a restricted definition of the Cambrian Mountains, excluding Snowdonia, the Berwyns and the Brecon Beacons), and the highest point in Mid Wales. 🚨long post alert… I’ve been feeling really disappointed with myself recently, 6 years ago I lost 4 stone. The last couple of years my weight has creeped up. Life is very different now, at my lightest weight I was being emotionally abused, and the thought of food was enough to make me feel sick. I know that wasn’t good or a sustainable weight to be. I was all a personal trainer back then too, spending 7 days a week at the gym, and so much more active than I am now. Now… I’m heavier, I feel it, I see it. Yr Wyddfa ✅✅ 2nd time completing it It was stunning, weather on point if anything a bit too hot 🥵 but no complaining here, the views just amazing. Since moving here we had the aim of completing it within the first year and as It was jets first time so we decided on going Llanberis way. (We went Watkins path in January got 3/4 the way and it was blizzards so had to turn back) Definetly not the best route but it was still awesome.
