Sunrise partners with up to 25 local school districts in the Pittsburgh area to provide educational and vocational services, life skills and assistance with transitioning into adulthood. Sunrise works with the community to provide job experience, as well as additional educational opportunities. The money used to participate in the race benefits the work that the school does.ย I plan to participate in at least two more 5Ks before my birthday, in June! ๐ (I have four on my list, and I might end up doing all four!) The theme and my goal is to participate in 4 5Ks B4 40! Just finished week 11 of this amazing journey Iโm on. Only two more weeks left! Thatโs bananas to me!!! Iโm a mom of four so I know how much time flies, but this is unreal. Mentally I feel like I just started. But today as I did certain exercises I realized some things. *how much what I was lifting increased *how much more stable my core is *how much less my knee actually grinds during certain moves *how much I smile during the workout It takes serious dedication to start something new, but it takes a burning passion to stick with something. I actually LOVE meeting the kiddos on the first day of school. They are so sweet and nervous and excited and it makes me forget alllllllll about my OWN nervousness ๐๐คฃโค๏ธโค๏ธ. I'm on day 2 of not being able to work out due to back pain. Hoping the chiropractor can help that situation tonight. My soul really misses it. I manage the day, stresses, and emotions when I work out and am moving my body. These experiences when they happen make me grateful for a body that can move, exercise, dance and run. I haven't always treated it well. In fact we've had many years of poor treatment with under eating or over eating. GET IN THE GAME Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. EXPLORE. DREAM. DISCOVER. Talk about dreams may be bringing up some thoughts and feelings for you. ๐ค Are you hearing any whispering in your heart? โฅ๏ธ โจI believe God plants these aspirations in us for a reason. Particularly for us to take risks and act on them. Passion in this sense is more than just a superficial feeling. It's more than hype. It's more than motivation. It might be something that is engrained in our DNA. And it's something people can't take away. It was a hard decision to give up my career as a teacher after 20 years to follow my passion for health and fitness and to coach. Everyone probably thought I was crazy....while those closest to me lent positive support. I also heard some not-so-positive thoughts from others. Things like "You're too old" and "It's a pyramid scheme". It mattered more what was in my heart than what others said or thought. I didn't know what the outcome would be, but I was committed to the journey. Let me explain my mindset at the time- whenever I would think about health and fitness and helping others, I'd get excited! ๐ The kind of excitement that runs deep in the pit of a soul. It wasn't about the money. I'd make practically nothing to start. It would be long and hard work to potential success. Simply put, I love fitness and helping others. ๐ You might have a passion to follow a dream, to start your own company, to rally a community together for a cause. How do you know it's something you should pursue or even spend time considering ? Those are tough question to answer. I'm not in the business of telling people what to do, but I will say that it's important to have the courage to pursue what's in your heart if it lines up with your values. Pray about it. ๐๐ป Don't be afraid to take a risk. Don't let fear, criticism, or doubt cripple you from making a decision. I didn't know what to expect, but I was ready. Not a great picture but ya, know? Documentation and accountability, right? Teachers went back this week and I've been putting in a LOT of hours getting ready for this year. My husband commented that I seem less stress than previous years and we really think it's because I'm still committed to my goals. Alarm clock goes off at 5:15, I'm up doing my workout and taking the dog for a walk. My food has been on point and I'm drinking plenty of water. The other difference is I'm sleeping better than I have in years which helps regulate the emotions and stress levels. The sweat drip and glut burn was intense during this workout. I pushed through even when my brain kept trying to tell me to slow down or stop. It felt amazing! I love seeing the change in my body but even more I love seeing and knowing how much stronger I am physically and mentally. Today my focus is on mindset and water intake. What's your focus?
Recovery day felt so good. (*ignore all the dog hair, my puppy was really cuddly this morning ๐). I don't usually love Recovery days but today I could tell my body needed it. Went for an extra long dog walk to help make up for not having cardio in my workout. Now for a good nutrition and water intake day! โก
I did not want to push play today. I only slept 2 hours last night and so doing a workout seemed like it would be awful. But i read my note to myself that I hang in my office reminding me of my why and my commitment to workout at least 5 days a week. It may have involved a big sigh but I did it. This weekend I ran, swam, hiked, and walked instead of pushing play. It was awesome to move my body around in nature. BUT it felt good to push play today. Day 5 of #mbfabeachbody workout done. Whole body workout right in my living room! So fabulous! My husband commented that he could tell areas of my body are toning up and my FIL asked if I've lost weight. It felt good to hear those things especially where the number on the scale haven't changed a lot. I'm in it to win it and achieve those goals! I want to feel confident, happy, and healthy. I want to be able to move my body and to live a bold, brave, joyous life. MBFA workout day #4. Dang Mountain Climbers in today's workout! The burn was real but I did it! My goal was to not modify unless I absolutely couldn't hold position anymore! The best thing I've done for myself on this journey besides starting and working on nutrition is (of course) is finding a workout program that I enjoy enough to commit to. My head was pounding this morning and I've been awake since 3. Part of my brain said "just skip your workout, go back to bed or run to the gas station and get some caffeine." The other part said "your headache is pretty mild now, just push play. You know you won't regret it." I decided I'd push play and if the headache got worse, I'd stop. Guess what??? I made it all the way through and it felt good! Also made it on a 20 minute walk with the pups. We'll do another 20 minutes tonight. Now to focus on water intake and food portions today! So glad I'm learning to believe in myself on this journey. Need an accountability partner, I'm here to cheer you on too!

Jumped back in with #mbfa today and it was awesome! I forgot how much I love this program and pushing my body! Decided on specific goals for August: WW: blue dot 24/30 days. (Giving myself some cheat days for events with people I love) Water: 90 oz per day Portion control: listen to my body, work on smaller portions (use containers) Workout: 5 days a week and complete the #mbfabeachbody program. Also 30 minutes of walking everyday. Selfcare: journaling and reading 20 minutes each minimum daily Therapy: 1 hour every other week I'm excited to work on these goals and to work on myself. I know I can do hard things and get through funds. I know I can accomplish my goal of losing 80 lbs so that I feel better and healthier.
I woke up before 3:30am today and couldn't get back to sleep. I made it through work and a couple errands but I wasn't sure if I was going to manage getting a workout in today after sleeping so poorly. I was trying to do some homework and couldn't concentrate so I figured why not push play and wahoo... work out done today! I actually even feel a little more energized now so bring on the studying. Yesterday's food log. I am working on carb cycling, adding more fruits/ veggies & protein, and portion control. I had a lighter lunch because I knew my dinner would be a little heavier. I did have about 5 Lily chocolate covered peanuts for a snack too. My body and mind feel better when I eat this way. The great thing is with carb cycling, I'm not denying myself anything. I'm just being selective of how I fit it in and how much I fit in. I know even when I get to my goal weight and am fitter, this is something I can maintain. It truly can become a lifestyle instead of just a "diet". I don't know about you but that's what I'm aiming for. I got to work out in our new home today with absolutely nothing surrounding me and it was glorious! Now I'm home from teaching summer school and trying to decide between doing homework and packing?! I was late getting my work out in but I did it...even with glasses on, boxes taking up the majority of the living room, and a tired puppy zooming around. I am making sure to show up for myself everyday because I WANT to build good habits, be strong and healthy, and to lose this unhealthy weight. I know that my body and mind deserve it. It's not always easy. Sometimes you find yourself doing the workout in inconvenient situations or after a long, hard day. But I know if you keep going, you won't regret it! Far too many of us accept blindly the vision which is handed to us by society, without even asking ourselves what we truly want. We are told to find school, go to college, get a job, work for 40 years at that said job, retire. And for many, this is far from the life that brings them happiness. This is exactly where I found myself after becoming an emptynester. Still teaching, just changed my audience. Yes.... we all have a purpose in life, we all are unique and have a gift to offer this world. I may not have lost any weight this week, but guess what. The scale IS NOT THE MOST IMPORTANT THING. My body is toning up. I am tightening my core, building upper body strength, and feeling better about myself everyday. It doesnโt happen overnight like we wish it did; it happens by SHOWING UP EVERYDAY FOR YOURSELF. Seriously, my arms are one of my biggest insecurities, but I can see the flab going away. I have an athletic build. That means when Iโm not ACTIVE I gain weight and my muscle turns to fat. It also means that I have to push myself to reach my goal. I would LOVE to reach 145 and a size 6 pants. Thatโs realistic for my body. We started week 3 of #muscleburnsfat today! ๐ฅ Only one week left then its on to another round until #mbfa drops. . The last several weeks we have been doing our workouts together. MBF always starts the week off with a leg workout and leg day is my favorite! ๐ Not so much the hubbyโs favorite tho ๐ ....but heโs embracing this new challenge with me. ๐ .
