This needed a permanent spot in my feed. It was another one of those last “firsts.” My youngest lost his very first tooth yesterday! And my mom heart felt it🥹 It took me back to a few years ago when my oldest lost her very first tooth and how exciting that was. Of course little Dom was super excited and proud but I was a little sad. These younger years just seem to speed up with each child and I find myself spending more time trying to slow them down. Maybe that’s the point of the fleeting feeling, to have us (parents) intentionally be present, soaking up all the little things, because the little things like the tooth fairy and the joy of toothless smiles, are short lived. #thesearethedays

We are nearly at the halfway mark with this sweet little babe — I cannot believe it and yet it feels like it has taken forever to get here. We rounded out our most magical 2023 holiday season with news of our new baby and I surely could not think of a better way to begin our 2024. Our experience this second time round has been so very different than our first; in the hardest and very best ways. Although, that’s parenthood for you — the challenging makes the good so very sweet. We are savoring every moment of this pregnancy. So deeply grateful to share that we are welcoming our precious, miraculous baby girl come September. Grateful to be sitting at peace in my second trimester. Grateful for a second opportunity to mother another soul along side my best friend and partner. Grateful for our sweetest little girl who is the most excited to be a big sister to her new little sister. Grateful for my sisters + friends who have nestled themselves along side me through the trenches of my first trimester and now in the blissful second. We were all jumping for joy when we heard that you had won the Spirit of Singapore Book Prize. 👏👏👏 On World Book Day on 23rd April, our favourite Singapore author, the extremely gifted author, Mr Woon Tai Ho, founder of Channel NewsAsia, whom our children absolutely adore and endearingly know as and call, Kor Kor Tai Ho; won the inaugural Dr Alan H.J. Chan Spirit of Singapore Book Prize for his book, Soul Of Ink: Lim Tze Peng At 100 (2021), a biography of Singapore’s oldest living pioneer artist. Kor Kor Tai Ho was presented with the award and $30,000 prize at the dinner ceremony. Truly deserving of Singapore’s richest book prize, Mr Woon has written this masterpiece with so much depth and at the same time in an easily comprehensible manner that even our children could read on their own. They absolutely loved and enjoyed the book. ❤️ Through this book, we have also learned more about Singapore’s history from an artistic perspective. Beautifully written in a lyrical-like manner, this autobiography is truly a work of art, a must-read!

Dear Zoo at The Customs House . Seeing the delight on Montgomery and Alouette’s faces today @customshousesouthshields is a memory I’ll treasure forever! . We love Rod Campbell’s classic book Dear Zoo, so were very excited to see the stage show. . I think it’s a wonderful experience for toddlers and preschoolers to visit the theatre, and this is the perfect show to ensure they’re mesmerised throughout! Plus the one hour running time is ideal for their age. I find The Customs House a very easy theatre to navigate with young children, with ample free car parking right outside and the theatre entrance as soon as you enter the building. . The characters brought the story to life and it was EXACTLY like the book, so much so that Montgomery was shouting out which animal would come onto stage next! There was lots of audience participation throughout and 18 month old Alouette was also very involved shouting out, waving and dancing! . A wonderful, magical experience! I’ve been doing the @fiveminutejournal (gratitude practice) for about a week now and I noticed something tonight that felt really amazing. I had a really challenging day with my (almost) 2-yr-old. There was blood (his), bruised eyes (mine), tears (both of us) and mountains of frustration (both of us again). Here is the visual: carrying him as he attached his body to a bike that he found in the store through the parking lot kicking and screaming because of course he wants to ride said bike in the busy parking lot while I am sweating bullets also carrying all the bags as they dig into my elbows. Ok, Back to the journal. There is a section where you’re asked to list your highlights from the day. The first highlight I thought of was going through the trenches today with my little guy. 🤯 Looking back on it all, I felt like it actually brought us closer together in someway. Added some grit to the otherwise giggles and endless snack requests. And you know what else? I then felt grateful for the connection with a friend who made me laugh about how these toddlers can be “so rude” with her own story of a morning adventure gone awry. And it brought light to my gratitude around having a loving husband who gave me a long hug when he got home and lovingly told me to “get out of here!” Then on a long (LONG) walk, how happy I was to feel the sun popping in and out of all the houses and really appreciating how beautiful my neighborhood is in the Spring. And the list just snowballed from there. So - my point. ONE : End of the day reflection is so beautiful. TWO : Perspective can shift massively when given a loving space to blossom. The journey to parenthood for queer couples can be a journey, to say the least. After tracking ovulation and trying at-home insemination with donor sperm from a Californian sperm bank, Amanda and Thea found out that it was unlikely that they’d get pregnant without assistance thanks to a PCOS diagnosis. They went through surgeries, and another 6 assisted IUI treatments in clinic to create their family. We share their special journey, openly and honestly, over on the blog today.
