Q: Murder mysteries, yay or nay? If not, what’s a genre you tried reading and ended up enjoying? A: I was looking forward to this one after reading the previous books but somehow it fell flat for me. Other murder mysteries I’ve enjoyed are : 💜Stalking Jack the Ripper series by Kerri Maniscalco 💛 Anatomy by Dana Schwartz 💜 The Jackaby series by William Ritter 💛 The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. I have in my tbr, Veronica Speedwell series and also the Charlotte Holmes novels by Brittany Cavalarro . Growing up, I really enjoyed all movies and shows involving Sherlock and solving puzzles/riddles, and even played some games in my DS like Professor Layton where you had to solve problems to discover the mystery. There’s something oddly satisfying about gathering clues, finding out motives, suspects and piecing it all together to find out who did it. 🕵🏻♀️💜

Mas como leitores, nós sempre queremos saber o que vem depois. Queremos sempre matar as saudades dos nossos personagens favoritos. E é ai que “The box in the woods” aparece. Ele não faz parte da trilogia, é um livro único que reune nossos personagens para um novo mistério. Dessa vez em um antigo acampamento, onde um terrível crime aconteceu em 1978. Ver Stevie e seus amigos em ação novemente é extremamente satisfatório, e o alivio comico que Nate e todos os outros nos proporcionam deixa o livro incrivelmente leve e divertido, como uma brisa fresca naquele dia quente de verão. Descobrimos também se ambos estão conectados e, se sim, como, e se não, o motivo das novas mortes. Para mim o terceiro livro é o segundo melhor da série, logo depois do primeiro. Assim como a obra que deu o pontapé inicial, The Hand in the wall realmente prende o leitor do começo ao fim. Apesar do caso Ellingham já ter sido solucionado no final do livro passado, foi muito bom ver as peças que faltavam, mesmo que apenas como adereços, completarem o quebra cabeça, e diz o que aconteceu com Alice. Já a respeito dos casos novos, foi uma pessoa que eu suspeitava desde o primeiro livro mas que não era a que estava em número um, assim que gostei! Avaliação: 4.5/5⭐️

It is a miracle that I finished this book in 3 days considering the amount of work I had this week. But I was really motivated to finish this book right away. There are no dull moments for me, though, I must say that I stopped for a few minutes last night just because I am getting too irritated with David and Stevie and their confusing relationship. 😂 but mostly irritated at David. 🙄 . Stevie is on the verge of solving the case, regarding Albert, Alice, Iris and with the recent deaths in the school. The inclusion of Senator King’s candidacy is a distraction, I was thinking at first how it relates to the case, but it’s because of another area of Stevie and David’s relationship. . If I were to rank the three books, I like the second book the most and maybe a tie with the first and third. She’s always listening to true crime podcasts and is particularly interested in a certain case at a special school in Vermont, where the president of the school’s wife and daughter were kidnapped in the 1930s and a ransom note in the form of a riddle was sent after they disappeared, signed by a mysterious “Truly Devious”. Ever since the note was sent, no one has been able to figure out what happened to them, but Stevie thinks she can solve it. To her surprise, she gets an invitation to study at Ellingham Academy, the very school that this took place in. Ellingham Academy is a special school where the students can focus on what their passionate in- in Stevies case, the Ellingham kidnapping. But when Stevie arrives and starts investigating, things start going badly quick- more bodies start showing up on school grounds. And Stevie needs to figure out what’s going on before more people end up dead. • • I decided to write a review for the series as a whole, since writing an individual review for each book felt wrong, considering all three follow the same story. I loved this series SO much. Stevie is my spirit animal and I know we would’ve been best friends in high school. I had so much fun following along as she tried to find out what was happening and was left guessing for a lot of it. I loved that the story was told between present day when Stevie is attending Ellingham Academy and flashbacks to the 1930s, explaining how the school was started and what happened during the initial case. Overall the series was just a lot of fun with a great well rounded group of characters, and an interesting and twisty murder case at the center of it. I know there’s a 4th book coming out later this year, and it sounds like it’s focused around Stevie investigating a different case, which I love the idea of and will absolutely be picking up!

YES! I learned something about myself. I’ve struggled to settle in and read during this Stay at Home order. Reading this, book 3 of a series, was way easier than learning a new world! Review: Look I most definitely went to the book store to take this picture because I read the e-books of this trilogy, and I don’t have hard copies of them. I also was pretty disappointed that they weren’t all hardback so there’s that. Anyway I loved all three of these, and basically waited a year for each of them. There’s two mysteries going on, one in the past and one in the future that unfolds as you read the books. Stevie the main character has anxiety, and the way it’s written is sometimes spot on, on how it feels to have it. There were some quotes that I could really relate to. She’s also in to true crime which I am also. Through out the books she is at a boarding school basically for the soul purpose of solving a cold case from the 1930s. Finishing this book in the #trulydevious series inspired me to talk about 5 book series I love on #theradpodcast (coming Friday!!!) because SO GOOD. I loved how this one wrapped up the trilogy, tied up loose ends, kept me guessing, and put Stevie and her detective skills in the spotlight. Such fun reads, such great twists and layers, and so worth reading. I read Truly Devious recently and Stevie is a crazy but awesome character and I loved how her character developed throughout the book, whenever I got to know more about her I kept thinking of Eleven from Stranger Things, the way she gets so excited about murder mysteries , her inquisitive mind and how she opened the lock underground, how she was always making witty retorts. So “She’s our friend and she’s crazy” goes equally well for her in my head. ☺️ . . What is your favourite Detective Fiction series, I guess I’ll always choose Sherlock and Agatha Christie but this series comes really close to fun mystery books and I really enjoyed this thanks to #bnbreadathon that I got to them finally. So happy to know the third and final installment will release soon and the title is “A Hand in the Wall”. ❤️☺️.
