Prečo mi to nikto nepovedal? je ďalšia motivačná/sebarozvojová kniha v mojej knižnici. Tento typ kníh mám rada, aj keď niekto ich zaznáva, ale ja si v každej nájdem niečo pre seba. V tejto konkrétnej sa mi najviac páčila kapitola o strachu. Samozrejme, niekto už niečo podobné možno napísal, ale takto zhrnuté mi to padlo vhod, nakoľko sama s rôznymi strachmi bojujem a táto kniha mi vnukla niekoľko nápadov, ako sa s nimi popasovať. A ja należę chyba do mniejszości, która muzyki nie słucha 🫥 Zastanawiam się ilu takich alienów jak ja jest wśród Was 😉👽 I to nie tak, że nie lubię muzyki, nie o to chodzi. Lubię różne piosenki, mam nawet swoich ulubionych wykonawców, ale na co dzień absolutnie nie odczuwam potrzeby słuchania muzyki i nigdy tego nie robię. Radio w samochodzie - OK. Kto też tak ma?🤓 Zapytałam o muzykę nie bez powodu - w książce ze zdjęcia odgrywa ona ważną rolę, co widać już po tytule: "The Songs You've Never Heard". Napisały ją wspólnie dwie kobiety związane z muzyką: Becky James i Ellie Wyatt i sama książka też opowiada o dwóch młodych kobietach: Meg i Alanie, które możecie zobaczyć na ilustracjach dołączonych do książki. Dziewczyny są od siebie różne jak ogień i woda. Meg to atrakcyjna influencerka, obserwowana w sieci przez bardzo duże grono fanów - nie bez powodu, przecież jest siostrą gwiazdy popu, pochodzi z wpływowej rodziny, ma markowe ciuchy i bajeczne życie. Niestety tylko na pozór. Meg ma bowiem mnóstwo kompleksów, mierzy się z hejtem w internecie, ciągle stara się sprostać oczekiwaniom rodziców, żyje w nieustannym cieniu sławnego brata. Januar 2022, um kurz nach 22:00 Uhr Ortszeit, begann für mich, für meine ganze Familie, eine neue Zeitrechnung, eine neue Ära. Es begann die Zeit ohne Daniel. Nur eine Woche nach seinem 20. Geburtstag starb mein Sohn unter tragischen Umständen. Nach einem nur knapp zwei Jahre dauernden Kampf hatten die Drogen gewonnen. Mein Kind erfror im Drogenrausch in einer eisigen Nacht neben einem Bahndamm. Er kämpfte immer wieder, versuchte, sich aus dem tödlichen Kreislauf zu befreien, doch ein überlastetes marodes Gesundheitssystem und ein wahrhaft „tödliches“ Umfeld führten letztendlich zur Katastrophe. Keine Mutter, kein Vater sollte sein Kind beerdigen müssen. Wenn es mir gelingt, mit diesem Buch nur ein Leben zu retten, habe ich mein Ziel schon erreicht. Denn mag unsere Jugend es auch denken, vertraut mir: Sie sind nicht unsterblich! 𝑴𝒆𝒊𝒏 𝑳𝒆𝒔𝒆𝒆𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒓𝒖𝒄𝒌 Kleine wichtige Info vorweg - man braucht viele Taschentücher!!! Wow.. das war hart und sehr emotional. Letztes Jahr hätte ich es definitiv nicht lesen können, denn dieses Buch ist für niemanden geeignet der frisch einen geliebten Menschen verloren hat. 🫣 Aber davon mal abgesehen ist es ein wirklich grandioses Buch. Mal aus einer völlig anderen Perspektive geschrieben, denn hier redet die Mutter zum verstorbenen Sohn. Macht ihm Vorwürfe, die absolut berechtigt sind, die man auch raus lassen darf. Dann trauert sie mehr als offensichtlich und bewältigt irgendwie ihren Alltag und lernt mit dem Verlust zu leben. Es ist ganz arg schlimm und toll zugleich diesen Weg zu verfolgen. Es liest sich - in dem Fall irgendwie Gott sei Dank - sehr schnell weg, denn irgendwie ist es schwer das Buch aus der Hand zu legen, trotz der Thematik. Ich bin wirklich froh über dieses Buch, dank Bookstagram, gestolpert zu sein. Denn es geht nicht nur um den Verlust, sondern auch den Umgang mit Drogen und einem Drogen abhängigen Kind. Mal davon abgesehen, dass Drogen der Endgegener ist, Suchtpotential gibt es in der heutigen Zeit genug, egal bei was. Absolute Empfehlung meinerseits!

Have you read any book set in different continent? Book Review A Choice Of Love by Vijay N. Koli is a contemporary romance fiction that narrates the story of an immigrant girl who is in a dilemma because of cultural conflicts. This is the story of Avanti, a girl who grew up in the authoritarian Tambram family in Tamil Nadu. And while she was there, she started learning Bharatnatyam from Anjali and developed a close bond with her. But when her father decided to move abroad, things took a turn for her. The constant clash of cultures – Indian vs American, takes a toll on our protagonist. And it is about this choice of choosing her own identity, that the novel talks about. The romance part of the book also contributes to this theme, aligning with the storyline. Read the book to know more. The first part of the book shows the story of Avanti’s parents and becomes crucial in formulating the background for her life. It throws light on the patriarchal society and its norms and how it affects one’s life. This is the part that stands out well for me. Some of the scenes were very real. It shows the character development and helps us connect more with the story. Especially when we move ahead with Avanti’s story in the next part, the initial upbringing and the context behind the father’s behavior become very helpful. But with the later parts, I was not able to connect. Many characters were coming and going in between which didn’t contribute much to the character's development. The romance part also had huge potential and the emotional dilemma of choosing a partner from the one you love and the one who is chosen by the family could have made it more connecting and interesting. The story, set on different continents, connects the reader with its easy writing style. There were some minor errors but those didn’t impact the storyline. The novel holds huge potential given the themes introduced by the author. I was provided a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. Jane Austen, the 19-year-old amateur detective, finds herself embroiled in a murder investigation when a woman's body is discovered during a ball. When her brother George is arrested for the murder, Jane is determined to prove his innocence and find the real culprit. The first 30% of the book was enjoyable and promising, but my interest waned once I realized that Jane is naive and not very intelligent. I knew she was only a teenager, but as the main character of a murder mystery novel, I expected her detective skills to investigate things properly and not just accuse each suspect in turn rather than thinking about the clues. She just publicly accuses anyone she suspects without evidence. Nevertheless, Jane's determination ultimately leads her to the killer. While the book starts strong, the pace can be a little slow at times, and the numerous side characters can be a bit overwhelming to keep track of. However, the letters from Jane to her sister, Cassandra, help tie everything together. The book has a secondary plot involving Jane's romance with Tom Lefroy. I quite liked the romance and the thoughts about marriage consideration, but it doesn't add significantly to the story. Although I was not fond of Jane, I liked some side characters, such as her first cousin, Eliza, and Jane's brothers, Henry and James. Their scenes were enjoyable and bring out some fun in the story. Overall, Miss Austen Investigates was a decent murder mystery novel. The book felt a bit too long towards the end, but the final revelations were exciting! The Salvation is the fourth book in Her Monstrous Boys. In this book we finally get to know more about Merikhs history and it is just as dark as you'd expect, if not darker. We also find out more about how he and Kyan met which I was very interested in finding out. This was definitely the darkest of the four books and maybe even a tiny bit too dark for me to fully enjoy it, that being said, I still loved it and don't regret reading it one bit. There were some twist I saw coming, and some I didn't but I loved all of them, and yelled at the characters a lot...😒 The only thing that makes me slightly disappointed, but at the same time a bit happy, is that their story didn't end here like I thought it would, which makes me happy because there's more to read but frustrated because I can't read it right now.😂😅 All in all, I would definitely recommend this series to those who like dark themed books with a lot of monster smut 😈🥵. Be sure to check the trigger warnings before you read though because it’s definitely not for everyone, especially since Quintessa loves to feel everything, both pleasure and pain. #książkistarealejare Czas na kolejny wpis z cyklu, w którym przypominam książki wydane przed kilku laty, które wciąż w jakiś sposób są mi bliskie. Mam nadzieję, że trafią w ręce kolejnych czytelników - czy to dorosłych, którzy nie trafili na nie w ich "prime timie", czy to młodszych, którzy akurat do tych pozycji dorośli. Dziś przedstawiam wam jedną z moich ulubionych książek dla młodzieży, która zrobiła na mnie piorunujące wrażenie przy pierwszym czytaniu. Oto "Rok, w którym nauczyłam się kłamać" Lauren Wolk od @dwiesiostry To fantastyczna, poruszająca lektura. Dwieście pięćdziesiąt stron literatury na najwyższym poziomie. Uniwersalnej, skierowanej może do młodego czytelnika, ale porywającej też (znam to z własnego doświadczenia) dorosłego. Lauren Wolk stworzyła ponadczasową historię o końcu niewinności. O przełomowym momencie, gdy w pewien sposób kończy się dzieciństwo. A wszystko to przez kontakt ze złem. Ta konfrontacja ze złem będzie najważniejszą lekcją, jaką odbierze od życia mała bohaterka. Autorce świetnie i bardzo wiarygodnie udało się wykreować postać Annabelle. Wprowadza nas w sielski, choć niepozbawiony zgrzytów, świat dziewczynki, a następnie pokazuje, jak bardzo jej dziecięcą perspektywę zmienia pierwszy kontakt z niezrozumiałym i niewytłumaczalnym okrucieństwem. Obserwacje autorki są bardzo trafne i możliwe do przełożenia na każdy grunt i epokę. Udało jej się rewelacyjnie zobrazować moment, kiedy dziecko zaczyna uważać, że kłamstwo może być jedynym wyjściem z sytuacji. Cokolwiek nie napisałabym o tej książce, nadal wydaje mi się zbyt mało, by oddać wrażenie, jakie na mnie zrobiła. Pod względem językowym, fabularnym, emocjonalnym. Choć porusza tak trudne i bolesne sprawy, wciąż jest niepozbawiona ciepła i pełna wyjątkowego uroku. Spokojna, nieprzekombinowana narracja, ujmująca w słowa wszystko co najważniejsze, i pozostawiająca szerokie pole do przemyśleń. Takie powieści naprawdę warto podsuwać dzieciom do czytania. ☆ Recensie ☆ Ann Lindell heeft ontslag heeft genomen bij de afdeling Geweldsdelictenn in Uppsala en is een nieuwe carrière begonnen als kaasmaker in het afgelegen Rasbo. Dan belt een onbekende man Lindells voormalige kantoor en staat erop haar te spreken. Hij zegt dat zij "de enige is die luistert" en voegt eraan toe dat "er iemand dood kan gaan". Voordat de boodschap Lindell bereikt, sterft er een vrouw in de brand die een oude school in Rasbo volledig in as legt. Het gebouw wordt gebruikt om politieke en oorlogsvluchtelingen te huisvesten. Hoewel de onderzoekers geen sluitend bewijs vinden, is men het erover eens dat het brandstichting was. Lindell voelt zich tot de zaak aangetrokken, zelfs als ze het doelwit is van een onbekende vijand, die een opengesneden dode das in haar bed achterlaat... 'De nacht van het vuur' is het elfde deel van de serie met Ann Lindell in de hoofdrol. Ik had nog geen enkel voorgaand deel gelezen, dus ik was benieuwd of het verhaal mij zou gaan bevallen. Het duurde een hele tijd voordat ik een beetje in het verhaal zat. Nu weet ik niet zeker of dit door de schrijfstijl kwam, of omdat ik misschien voorgaande informatie over de verschillende personages miste. Ook moet ik zeggen dat ik het verhaal redelijk traag op gang vond komen. De flaptekst sprak mij enorm aan, maar ik moet eerlijk zijn: dit verhaal viel mij toch een klein beetje tegen. Ik denk dat ik er gewoon meer van had verwacht. Overigens heb ik geen vergelijkingsmateriaal, aangezien dit het eerste deel was dat ik van deze serie las. Ik weet dan ook niet of dit gewoon net even een minder deel is, of dat de hele serie redelijk traag is. Het is ook allemaal best gedetailleerd en uitgebreid beschreven, dus daar moet je ook maar net van houden. Voor mij stopt het in ieder geval om deze serie verder te lezen, sorry uitgeverij. Maar ik wil @uitgeverijdegeus natuurlijk heel erg bedanken voor het recensie-exemplaar. Hopelijk een volgende keer beter! Laat je overigens absoluut niet door mijn recensie tegenhouden hè, het blijft tenslotte een kwestie van smaak. Beoordeling: 2,5 ⭐️

Read this if you loved: "Interstellar" Genre: science fiction Age group: adult My rating: 4.25/5 💬Have you read "To Be Taught, If Fortunate" by Becky Chambers or do you want to? "To Be Taught, If Fortunate" by Becky Chambers is about astronaut Ariadne O'Neill. During the twenty-second century, scientists advanced in space travelling allowing astronauts to adapt to any planet's environment. Ariadne leads an expedition to four potentially habitable planets located fifteen light-years away from Earth. Back on Earth, significant changes have occurred, changes Ariadne and her crew isn't aware of due to being in deep sleep cycles while travelling. Have the world moved on, forgetting Ariadne and her crew? I have always struggled with science fiction, but there's something about Chambers writing that makes it understandable. Maybe it's her approach to the genre and the themes. Anyhow, I really liked "To Be Taught, If Fortunate". What I enjoyed most were the conversations and musings about humanity and our place in the universe. What impact does humanity have on space, on planets? There are scientific conversations about ecology, but they are told in such a way that it was understandable for me, someone who doesn't know much about that. I loved Chambers writing and world-building. With the astronauts, we discover the different landscapes of alien planets, which is skilfully described. Her strength lies in the portrayal of the characters and their feelings. Although set decades in the future, the characters were recognizable and felt real. I was like I was there, feeling their hope, loss and confinement. I liked how the crew worked together, and understood that they needed to be dedicated to the mission and each other. All in all, "To Be Taught, If Fortunate," was an excellent told story about humanity, our place in the universe and how we affect it and it us.

Read this if you loved: "Frankenstein", "Bridgerton" Genre: historic fiction Age group: young adult My rating: 3.75/5 "Immortality: a love story" by Dana Schwartz is the second and last instalment in the "The anatomy duology". The books are set in Edinburgh and London during the 1810s. Hazel Sinnett is from a titled family and destined to marry her cousin. She doesn't want to be a wife, she wants to become a surgeon. If only women were allowed to go to university! She takes matters into her own hands. She starts working with Jack Currer, who's a resurrection man. Now Hazel is process the events that went on. Events takes her to London. I adored "Anatomy" and such high hopes for "Immortality". Sadly, I was a bit disappointed. and I wasn't as invested as with the first book. Not that it was bad, it didn't feel as new and inventive as the first. There's much is going on and a lot of new stuff is thrown in, like a secret society, royalties, famous people and so on. Events in this book didn't fit that well with what happened in the first. There weren't as many medical descriptions and gore in this one. Neither did it have much of the gothic atmosphere of Edinburgh. Rather, it was centred around the royals of London. It reminded me of Charlottes story in "Bridgerton". I enjoyed reading about women's lives and how they were to behave during this period of time. I loved how Hazel and the princess rebelled against how a woman "should" be and behave. I didn't like how the book was set up. I would love to have heard more about what is going on with Jack, where he is and Hazels thoughts about that. I think it would have been better if the story followed both of them. Jack and Hazel's feelings for him were a bit forgotten. All in all, I liked "Immortality" but not as much as the first instalment.
