🩵READ ALONG 🩵 Week 4 of the read along for Justice Mort Style by @aj_wilton_author I'm back with another question! ✨ Question 7: General: What was your favourite moment in the book so far?? 🩵Answer: Aah this is a tough question because I'm loving it all. I really love Mort and Susie's interactions but I also love Pig and how sensitive he is. I like how I've had a few chuckles whilst reading especially the scene where Mort and Pig meet with Don and Ryan. Ryan not listening to Mort's instructions and his frustration is clear as day. However I can't really pinpoint a favourite moment as the full story is so so good! ✨ Blurb ✨ In this thrilling sequel to You Killed My Wife, Mort's hunt for his wife's killer takes a huge u-turn, forcing Mort and Pig to question everything they thought they knew... Faced with unsolved data theft, an armed militia, a school bullying ring and the trauma of a victim of domestic violence, they never waver in their pursuit of justice. For Mort and Pig their search will culminate in a lethal battle spread across suburban Brisbane. With their skills learnt from the Australian army, combined with their unique computer hacking skills, Mort and Pig venture through many dangerous paths, creating an action thriller full of intrigue and suspense for readers to delve into and enjoy! #morticejusticemortstyle #justicemortstyle #readalong #ajwilton #bookstagram #crimethriller #crimethrillerreads #crimemysteries #newbook #bookclub #booktok #bookish #mysteries #mysteryreads #fiction #bookclubread #booklover #readersofinstagram #bookstagram #booksofinstagram #bookaddict #readmorebooks #booknerd #instabookstagram #bookrecommendations #instagramreads #instabooks #instareads #highlyreccomended #instareaders

🩵READ ALONG 🩵 Week 3 of the read along for Justice Mort Style by @aj_wilton_author I'm really enjoying this novel, I'm over half way through because I can't put it down 🩷 ✨ Question 6: Chapter 15 When we get in the van, Pig says, 'So you just gave Suzie' s card to the wife of a man who was holding her at gun point when you shot him, and told Beth that Suzie would be happy to help her. You sure of that?' ' Nah, Suzie, will see a woman in distress and go into full support mode. ' Would you help Beth if you were in Susie's shoes? Do you think Suzie and Mort made the right decision not telling Beth the truth about her husband's death? 🩵Answer: I can understand Susie's reservations regarding Beth however, I can't help but feel you can't punish a person for someone else's actions. Yes her husband was a terrible man but Beth didn't hold Susie up at gun point. So if I were in Susie's shoes then yes I would help her if I could. As for Mort and Susie not telling Beth the truth I think it was the right call, there's no need to tell her as it doesn't change the outcome. I just hope she doesn't find out though because that would be awkward. 🩵READ ALONG 🩵 Week 3 of the read along for Justice Mort Style by @aj_wilton_author I have two more questions but I'm separating the questions this time 🙂 Keep an eye out for Question 6 this weekend. For now here is Question 5.... ✨ Question 5: What are your first impressions of the book so far? Has A.J Wilton surprised you with plot twists that caught you off guard? 🩵Answer: I'm really enjoying reading Justice Mort Style. I thought You Killed My Wife was great and when going into a sequel you do have reservations as to whether it's gonna live up to the predecessor. I can confirm that so far it does, it feels so gritty and I'm loving the twists I've encountered so far. ✨ Blurb ✨ In this thrilling sequel to You Killed My Wife, Mort's hunt for his wife's killer takes a huge u-turn, forcing Mort and Pig to question everything they thought they knew... 🩵READ ALONG 🩵 It's week 2 in the read along for Justice Mort Style by @aj_wilton_author and I'm loving this book, it's so gritty!  I have two more questions to answer.... ✨Question 3:  Chapter 10: Do you think Benson is guilty? Does his formal Statutory Declaration seem legitimate? Discuss.  🩵Answer: I'm not entirely sure of Benson's guilt, I think there's too many anomalies especially since the Statutory Declaration is seemingly legit. I think we'll soon find out either way though. ✨Question 4: Chapter 12: Suzie and Mort working under the same roof could be a recipe for disaster and with a name like Dunnies Law things could quickly go down the toilet! Do you think this will strengthen or strain their relationship?  🩵Answer: I think with Susie and Mort working and living together would strengthen their relationship, they seem to be perfect for each other and like most couples I think they may experience some conflict but nothing to strain their relationship. ✨ Blurb ✨ In this thrilling sequel to You Killed My Wife, Mort's hunt for his wife's killer takes a huge u-turn, forcing Mort and Pig to question everything they thought they knew... 📚 Book Review 📚 Good Half Gone by Tarryn Fisher. Good Half Gone follows an incredible story of twins Iris and Piper Walsh. Iris watched her twin sister get kidnapped but no one except her Nan believes her. The cops think she is lying and expects Piper to be a run-away. With no evidence and the police not wanting to be involved, the case goes cold. Now an adult Iris is investigating what happened to Piper and ends up working at the Shoal Island hospital as an intern. She believes her sisters killer is one of the criminally insane patients in this isolated facility. Will Iris finally get the closure and answers she needs? Nothing is as it seems. An absolute gripping psychological thriller and one that ticked all my boxes. I loved the dual timelines of this one and trying to put all the pieces together. I was very much mind-blown at the ending with that major twist to the story. A signature Tarryn move. This was such a quick read for me and I found myself wanting to know how this story was going to end. Did I go out and buy a physical copy for my shelves? Yes, yes I did. I find this nice and fitting that this was my 100th Netgalley review. Thank you Harlequin Australia & Netgalley for a gifted copy of this e-book for my honest book review. #bookishtkreview #bookrecommendations #netgalley #bookreview #crimethrillerreads #psychthriller #gifted #givemeallthebooks #pageturner #ausbookstagram

📚 Book Review 📚 What Happened to Nina by Dervla McTiernan. Wow. Just wow. Thank you @lindabalogh5077 for buddy reading this one with me. What Happened to Nina starts off strong and keeps going. What an emotional rollercoaster. Simon and Nina are young and in love. They go away for the weekend. But when Simon comes home without his girlfriend questions are asked. Where is Nina? Simon advises everyone they have broken up but no one has heard or seen Nina since she left for the trip. Things are definitely not adding up especially with Simon's series of events. We do learn early on what happened to Nina but that didn't take anything away from the story (this is not a spoiler). I could not stop reading this book, the chapters just kept me one hundred percent committed. I wanted to know how this story would end. The book read like a mystery / true crime book and I thoroughly enjoyed it and at times it is emotional. This is my first Dervla book and definitely won't be my last. I recommend reading this one, definitely worth all the hype. Thank you Harper Collins for sending me a gifted copy for my honest book review. #bookishtkreview #bookrecommendations #bookreview #crimethrillerreads #gifted #harpercollins #ausbookstagram #crimefiction #bookworm #booksforlife

《 𝘽𝙊𝙊𝙆 𝙍𝙀𝙑𝙄𝙀𝙒 》 The Kept Woman by Karin Slaughter This was a slow one for me, but I appreciated it nonetheless. The more I read Slaughter’s writing the more I find myself googling “authors like Karin Slaughter” or “crime mystery fiction with some romantic elements” and come up short. It’s just hard to pinpoint what makes her work so unique. In this one, I appreciated the development of the relationship between Will and Sara, with the cracks in their relationship painfully showing through. The most severe insecurity being Angie. And Will’s inability to deal with Angie. He cannot see or accept her flaws at face value and both Sara and us as the readers are tired of his willful blindness where his spiteful ex is concerned. Oh Angie. I doubt you’ll ever find redemption. But if you do, you definitely won’t find it with me. The more I read of Slaughter’s books the more I am just in awe of her ability to craft scenes and depth of characters. It’s masterful. And yes, Amanda remains a scene-stealer (especially at the end—I was actually clapping!) and I’m here for it. ★ ★ ★ ★ 𝙎𝙏𝘼𝙏𝙎 ✎ Series: Will Trent #8 Author; @karinslaughterauthor Length: 461 pages Genre: mystery, thriller, fiction, crime Format: Paperback via @thriftbooks — #CrimeThrillerReads #SuspenseFiction #BookishThrills #PageTurner #BookstagramCrime #ThrillerBooks #BookishChills #bookobsessed #MustReads #bookrecommendation #willtrent #karinslaughter #bookstagram #booksbooksbooks #readwithme #readingrecs #bookreview #bookrecs

I love my local library so much. Such a wide variety of books. Of course, they have the 1500 James Patterson books, but they also have such a wide variety of other genres. Love them. I went to return books today and, of course, had to borrow more. If you think about it-I'm doing a good thing-more users of the library - the more funding it gets. Anyway. The books I borrowed are: 🔪 A noise downstairs by @linwoodbarclay Paul Davies got attacked a few months ago. Since then, he's been in recovery. Therapy helps, but not much. Paul thinks he's losing his mind - he's hearing things that nobody else can... is he losing his mind? Or does someone want him to think he is? 🔪 A good enough mother by Bev Thomas. Will find her account later. Dr Ruth Hartland is the director of trauma therapy unit. Her son is missing. A new patient arrives at the centre. He looks shockingly like her son. Who is he? 🔪 The children God forgot by @grahammasterton Witchcraft. Occult. Ghostly figures of children. A baby born with the face of an angel but the body of a tentacled monster.... 🔪The things we do to our friends by @hdarwent How much is an extraordinary life worth if others have to pay? Clare arrives at the University of Edinburgh with a secret. She wants a blank slate. Soon, she's caught up in a little project. Reckless, possibly perilous, but will it give Claire the life she wants? COOL RIGHT. Other news in my life *got a piece of glass stook in my foot, lmao. It's very small, tho so it's all fine. *stook on the side of insta where mothers think that teachers aren't needed and that they're clever enough to teach their children everything they need to know from home. *Thought @grahammasterton Was Graham norton for one minute and was like wow that is a career change. Lol. That's all from me. I hope you guys have a good day. Stay safe.

Wow? A truly compelling read. 10/10. Completely vile feel a little sick because of some of the characters, but oh well. Wow. I'm actually at a loss for words because this book was very, very good. It is based on the topic of coercive control and domestic violence. The way it's written? Wo. I thought the ending was quite fitting. I thought that Maria (wife who did the wacking of husband) finally stood up for herself and that she was truly an inspiration for doing so. Cameron, on the other hand? what a disgusting character. Actually made me nauseous. So many things in this book made me nauseous. There is also a large focus on self-harm, so be warned. The word Im looking for to describe Edward (husband who got wacked) is diabolical. What an evil character. Who else did I hate.... The psychologist professor worth-an incompetent lazy professor who should probably have his degree rescinded. (Is that the right word, and yes, im aware it's a fictional character) @helenfields_author did a wonderful job at writing this book. I read it in one sitting. I'm just still quite shaken over the self-harm part it's quite evil? You'll understand why I say that when you read the book. Have any of you read this book? And what did you think?

《 𝘽𝙊𝙊𝙆 𝙍𝙀𝙑𝙄𝙀𝙒 》 Fallen by Karin Slaughter There was so much about this book that I truly loved, I’m hard-pressed to find fault in it. This might just be my favorite Will Trent book? This book has been out for a while now so instead of giving you a synopsis or critic on the mystery itself, I would like to talk about the strong-willed leader at the center of Fallen: Amanda. As mentioned before, I’m a huge fan of Amanda’s. She steals the show from the smallest interactions, but we don’t get much of her. Fallen is different. In Fallen, Amanda plays is the headliner in our bloody show. She is a triumph. Fallen shows us Amanda’s omnipotence. Add in the polished manner in which she controls both the GBI and Will himself and you have someone you’d never want to cross. She is chic. She is sharp. She is poised and unshakable one hundred percent of the time. She’s the woman you want to be when you grow up. The way that Slaughter writes her is masterly, infusing just enough humanity and humor into the character to make us root for her (even as Will plots her murder under his breath). I lost my mind at what I’m dubbing 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙜𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙮 𝙂𝙤𝙡𝙙𝙚𝙣 𝙂𝙞𝙧𝙡 scenes. These women broke the glass ceilings and now they are out here commandeering mail trucks and going undercover carrying bibles. Magnificent. Don’t worry, we are told that Amanda returns one of Will’s testicles at the end so at least he’s got that going for him as we move into the next book. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Have you read Fallen? 《 𝘽𝙊𝙊𝙆 𝙍𝙀𝙑𝙄𝙀𝙒 》 Broken by Karin Slaughter It took me six days to figure out how to write a review of this heart-pounding book. Still, I can’t stop thinking about the gripping garage scene and the subsequent fallout. And every time I do I want to cry. It was my first introduction to Lena Adams, a main character from the Grant County series, and to avoid spoilers I’ll just say: not a fan. But man do I love Slaughter’s use of the unreliable narrator. There are parts of this book that were truly soul-crushing and emotionally devastating. It was gripping and evocative. I couldn’t put it down and now that it’s finished I feel haunted by its wake. ★ ★ ★ ★ Have you read Broken yet? What did you think? Insane. Deranged. Completely nuts. I loved it. I can't tell you much because to truly experience this book, you need to go in blind. I buddy read this with @jacks.bookshelf, and it was quite possibly the best book to have started in 2024 with. Other books simply won't compare. @catward66 writing style is seamless. It's compelling. I didn't expect the twist. I was speechless. Like my mouth was an actual 😮. So some things I'll say: 1)The bit about the names 😳 2) every single page 3)Irving was truly a pile of steaming shit. 4) omfd the beginning 5)omfd, the middle 6)omfd the ending?????? Wow. As you can see from my eloquent review, I really enjoyed this book. Other things going on in my life 1)I bought a new hoover and I've never had so much fun hoovering. I even discussed it with one of my friends for a good 10 minutes. She thinks im nuts. 2)My stomach hurts. Dunno why. 3) My sister bought me a triple chocolate hot cross bun. I didn't know they existed but it was very nice. I'm going to attempt to finish off "The herd" by the end of this week. What is everyone else up to?

📚 Book Review 📚 Love, Just In by Natalie Murray This was a book I didn’t know I needed. Love, Just In follows the story of Josie. Josie is a TV news reporter in Sydney when she makes a mistake on national TV causing her to be sent to Newcastle for six months to cover another reporter's spot while they are on leave. Lucky for Josie her best friend since highschool lives in Newcastle but they haven't properly spoken to each other for a few years. Zac picks up Josie from the train station. They now need to navigate the friendship lost. This was such a beautiful book and one I absolutely enjoyed reading 100%. From the very beginning I loved Zac's character - an absolute sweetheart. Throughout the book I was cheering on from the sidelines hoping that Zac and Josie would get together after everything they've been through. I really enjoyed the before chapters giving us a much needed background on the story of Zac and Josie. Please note this book navigates mental health including health anxiety and also a loss of a partner. 📚 Book Review 📚 The Retreat by Stephanie Hazeltine Short and sweet but packs a punch. The Retreat by Stephanie Hazeltine is a short and sweet locked room thriller that gets you invested from the very start. Introducing Celia Marsden a psychiatrist turned influencer. She is hosting a retreat for couples and singles at Sandy and Salt resort in Byron Bay. Everything starts off perfectly until things take a turn for the worst. Guests have been threatened, rooms broken in to and an assault. I enjoyed that this was a fast read with picturesque location and shady characters. I'm supposed to be sleeping, but I'm not because I needed to finish this book. How insane. How absolutely insane. I didn't see the twist. Should've but didn't. I really really enjoyed this book. It's nuts. The characters are nuts. All of them. The storyline was nuts. Completely so. Deranged with a capital D. Beth: inquisitve mc who has no concept of danger. None whatsoever. Dom: her husband, who is the complete opposite. This man could see a meteor falling and decide it's not his problem. Lewis:No comments Flora:No comments. Tbh, if I saw two kids who looked like they hadnt aged a day since I last saw them 12 years ago, I would take off my glasses, never put them back on then start praying ayatul qursi. Wow. It was a rollercoater from the beginning to the end. I'll put a description in the comments. I think @sophiehannahwriter did a spectacular job and that this was a wonderful thriller. My next post will be of the books I bought in the past few weeks. I'm putting myself on a book buying ban. (Hahahahhahahah)

This isn't me being financially irresponsible-it's me showing my support for a lovely human being. Therefore-technically, I'm being a good person. Slay. Moving on. Call me mummy, and nasty little cuts were two of the most traumatising books I've ever read. Did I enjoy them? No, I did not. They made me feel a little sick. But were they written fabulously, and were they thought-provoking? Yes. Yes, they were. Both books handle extremely traumatising topics with respect, sensitivity, and eloquence. The kidnapper in call me mummy? I couldn't help but feel awful for her. I wanted to cry all the way throughout because even though she did awful things-she was a victim too? Make me clean is about a cleaner who might be wiping away more than the dirt in her clients' houses. She's also wiping away the people her clients hate. Knowing Tina Bakers previous books, I feel like I'll cry. So I might not read this yet because I'm not in the mood to cry. I recommend both books so far by @tinabakerbooks that I have read. I rated them both 5 stars. Will inform you all how much I cry over. Make me clean when I read it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Last Resort by Heidi Perks Happy Publication Day @heidiperks_author! Erin and Will Harding seem to be the perfect couple. Happily married, living in a beautiful house with their daughter Sadie and their dog Coco. On Valentines Day, Will gifts Erin a necklace, but Erin flinched when Will touched her neck. She suddenly feels incredible uncomfortable in the presence of her husband. Things go from bad to worse when Erin's beloved dog Coco goes missing, and Erin blames her husband. Her mistrust leads to the decision to start couple counselling. They reach out to Maggie Day, but she can't work out whose version of truth she can trust. Then Erin is brought into the hospital in a critical condition following a hit-and-run accident. Now, everyone is desperate to unravel the truth. I was very excited to be able to read Heidi's next novel, and the Last Resort didn't disappoint. I flew through the book. I wanted to find out why the therapist Maggie Day was so invested in Erin's life. She definitely had her own reasons to unravel the story. The Last Resort is told in several POV and two different timelines. Cleverly done to reach the conclusion of what really happened. This is a gripping, slow-paced story filled with suspense. A real page turner. Many thanks to @netgalley, @penguinukbooks, and @heidiperks_author for the chance to read the ARC. ❓️ Which book are you reading at the moment? #TheLastResort #HeidiPerks #heidiperks_author  #penguinukbooks #NetGalley #Goodreads #bookreview #newrelease #upcomingrelease #novemberreads #loveforbooks #crimethriller #thrillerbooksaddict #crimethrillerreads #readmorebooks #whatiamreading #whatareyoureading #bookrecommendations #bookreview #bookstagram #bookstagramuk #ukbookstagram #bookcommunity #bookworm #booklover #bookobsessed #readerofinstagram #fictionatnight

📚 Book Review 📚 Kill Your Husbands By Jack Heath. Thank you @lindabalogh5077 for buddy reading this one with me. What a wild ride. Kill Your Husband's follows a group of six friends on a weekend away. Time for relaxation and a chance to connect. But the relaxation does not entirely come for the group. No phone or WiFi service makes this book even more interesting. The couples decide to do a partner swap but the catch is no lights and no talking during the swap. But when the lights come on one of them is found dead. Who is the killer? And why. I absolutely loved this locked room mystery. It had all the twists and turns I enjoy. Even though we had a fair few characters it was easy to keep track of everyone and what was happening. I also 100% recommend the audiobook for this one. #bookishtkreview #bookreview #bookrecommendations #crimethrillerreads #allthecrimebooks #givemeallthebooks #addictedtobooks #audiobookreads #bookworm #lovebooks

#fridayflatlay look at my @ashleywinsteadbooks flatlay. The last book I read of hers was a buddy read. Review is below. And I thought it was fabulous. I was talking to @jacks.bookshelf and he said that ashley makes the greatest titles. And I was like, really? So then I saw her book was called Midnight is the darkest hour and was like hmmm you are correct. This is a fabulous title. Then I accidentally clicked buy. Anywho. 🔪 In my dreams I hold a knife: our iconic fabulous mc goes to her college reunion and is thoroughly despicable throughout. I enjoyed this. Made me laugh. 🔪 The last housewife: It's about a cult. Shay the mc escapes but has to go out to find the murdere of her friend Laurel. 🔪 Midnight is the darkest hour: another cult lol. and also a vampiric killer. And a swamp with a skull. I read books at work too, and now, in the morning, the people in the common room get recaps and reviews. Quite a few of them are very alarmed. It's really funny to me. I should probably stop telling them about the books with such a big smile on my face. Lmao. Things happening in my life: Apparently, it's supposed to snow tomorrow, so I shall give you all an update. My stomach hurts. So does the fourth toe on my left foot. Not quite sure what's going on there. I've had an epipheny. If I go to sleep maybe my headache will go away. Good night all. Sweet dreams.

Jessica Miller is probably the best psychopath I have ever seen written. She was iconic. A queen. Loyal to no one but herself. And she hated herself. When I say she hated herself, I mean HATED. With a passion. This girl truly despised herself. She made my self-esteem issues look like childs play. An icon. Truly. I don't think I can put into words how insane she is. She goes to the reunion, and they start talking about Heather. One of their best friends who got stabbed 17 times. 17. And Miss Jessica Miller straight up is like this evening isn't about Heather, it's about me-how hot and successful I am. Everyone must praise me and envy me. I was more invested in her life than finding out who the murderer was. And that's not me saying it was a bad book. Thats me saying I found Jessica so incredibly funny (she wasn't witty or clever or anything: I just couldn't stop laughing at how much she hated herself but still thought she was gods gift to mankind- like babe. Pick one. ) She does things without any regard for anyone. At all. She does quite literally whatever the hell she wants to. The ending? "This homecoming turned out to be quite fabulous after all?" Completely insane after you read what happened. Didn't manage to work out who the murderer was, but that might have been because I was laughing at Jessica too hard. I buddy read this with @jacks.bookshelf He thinks me finding Jessica funny is alarming. I was thinking. How did Jess manage to get two guys to fall in love with her. But then I was like.. she's a psycopath. She's charming. A manipulator. I'll be serious now. She's awful. A self-centered selfish bitch who cannot believe shes not the best at everything she does. She can't face the fact that people don't worship the ground she walks on. Overall. I recommend this book. I read it in a day and think that @ashleywinsteadbooks writes a TERRIFIC psycopath. Some authors try too hard to make their characters psychopathic, but Ashley did it seamlessly.

📚 Book Review 📚 Vendetta by Sarah Barrie Crime Thriller | 400 Pages Lexi Winter is back! And I couldn’t be more excited. This is book number three in the Lexi Winter series and I absolutely loved it. Dawny is back and of course she has brought trouble with her – Trouble being Desmond has been taken hostage by a local motorcycle gang the exact same motorcycle gang Lexi was involved with many moons ago! This makes the investigation a whole lot more messy and interesting. To make things even more insane Arthur Cronin has been released from prison. With dead bodies, C4 and the bikie gang this book has everything. You are in for a roller-coaster of emotions and edge of your seat / nail-biting intensity when you read Vendetta. I could not put this book down (trust me it was hard to do but Mum duties). I'm so happy we got more of Dawny in book three, she is such a character. As this is book three in the series you will need to read books one and two to understand Lexi better and the dynamics of how everything works. Thank you @becsbookshelf for gifting me a physical copy of Vendata! You are amazing. #bookishtkreview #bookreview #bookrecommendations #crimethrillerreads #allthecrimebooks #givemeallthebooks #addictedtobooks #booksaremagic #bookworm #bookstagrammer

11/19/2023, 4:38:22 AM

The main character had crippling anxiety, and I was like girlie me too. Anyway. I really enjoyed this book. It was realistic. The only way I can explain it. The mc doesn't report the girls talking to the two men out of prison. And then the next day, one goes missing she blames herself for not reporting. She feels guilty. I got her hundred per cent, tho? What do you say to the police? (I would've had a mental breakdown bad enough to be sectioned once I found out the girl is missing, but that's just me, tho, lmao) our mc tries to get on with her life. She's not stupid. She does try to get help. She calls the tip line the minute she sees the news. I really enjoyed her povs. We're now going to talk about one of the biggest villains in this book. The gnarly rat that is sarahs mother. Why wouldn't you believe your own child? Why wouldn't you pick up on the fact that your second child also hates her father? I physically retched. Vile vile character who deserved prison. I think @tkdriscoll_author Handled the topics of suicide with elegance and respect. When sarah attempts suicide, I understood her. Teresa showed us that sarah didn't actually want to die. She just wanted the pain to stop. I recommend this book.

11/17/2023, 11:37:01 PM

Not deranged enough. The title makes you think there will be complete insanity in this book, but instead, all the characters have the communication skills of a goldfish. And theyre manipulative. And quite irritating. I really hoped it would be more nuts. It was not. I'm not saying this book didn't have any redeeming qualities, Im saying that the murders were quite, dare I say it, boring. I did say it. Frankly, the ending was too rushed, the last twist a sorry excuse to tie up loose ends. The entire family were a bunch of traumatised snobby arseholes who made me roll my eyes so far back in my head I saw my optic nerve. Everything was expained too well. And too easily. It took one sentence for the main plot line to be explained. I am not hyperbolic. One sentence on the very last page. Now for the redeeming quality. The narrator. An icon. Truly an icon. A silly, silly man who has main character syndrome so bad that the tiktok girlies would be scared of him. His whole motto? Gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss. The narrator is what got me through this book because I was like, will this idiot of a man get manipulated by his wife into forgiving her? The answer is yes. Will this idiot of a man get manipulated his mum into thinking he was at fault? Yah. Just realised I'm victim blaming. Ah, well. He is a fictional character, after all.

📚 Book Review 📚 A Game of Lies by Clare Mackintosh. Crime Fiction | 384 Pages They say the camera never lies. But on this show, you can't trust anything you see. Book two in the DC Ffion Morgan series. This time we follow the story of a new reality TV show called “Exposure”. Exposure is not what it seems, seven contestants have been given a false premise of the show, one contestant is not happy and leaves the show but is nowhere to be seen. Each contestant is competing against each other to keep secrets safe – Some secrets can ruin livelihoods and even family life. DC Ffion Morgan is called out to the case, but this is only the very start of the investigation. This brings Leo Brady back in to the picture to solve the case. When a murder occurs Ffion is against the clock, she knows every one of the suspects has an alibi but they all have a secret worth killing for. I am not a big fan of reality TV but I did thoroughly enjoy A Game of Lies. It was well written and had some great plot twists. I enjoyed that the characters are both likeable and unlikable. I am looking forward to book three in the series and being transported back to Wales. Now we all know how my mum evicted my books to the shed, right? So, today, I finished gillian mcallistors wrong time, the wrong place book. According to my page, I needed to post a stack before I could post a review. For some context, I get back from work, and the sun has already set, so it's quite dark. And we all know I have shit eyesight. quite atrocious. So I was like I'm going to go to the back and get some books, I'll be able to see-there is light from the streetlight, and I've lived here all my life... Yeah, no, I was being deluional. Couldn't see shit. Nearly slipped and fell. Had to turn on the torch and walk. I wonder how bad my eyes will be in a few decades. Actually, let's not. Another story to do with my eyes, the receptionist at the optometrist, laughed at how bad my eyesight was when she saw my prescription?? Like, sweetie??? My self-esteem is already on the floor, why are you digging a grave for it??? Anyway. The books are The interview by @c.m.ewan I enjoyed this, thought the mc had an unrealistically strong will to live. Review posted somewhere below. Rabbit Hole by @billingham22b I don't know if that's the right account that I've tagged. Lmao. The midnight lock by @officialjefferydeaver I've had this book for aeons never got around to it. But I have enjoyed the books from @officialjefferydeaver that I've read. They used to give me nightmares in high school, so I recommend them. Next up is hunting evil by @chriscarterbooksofficial I know I've posted this book a few times, but I started it and then got distracted. But. I've enjoyed Chris Carters books too so I look forward to this one. Lastly, A window breaks by @c.m.ewan Looking forward to this too because i enjoy his books. I've realised Ive not actually told you what these books are about just what I think of the authors. So. All are about murder. And crimes. Probably nightmare inducing. Enjoy. I hope everyone has a good week. Everyone is fed and warm and is safe.

When you look up the term narcissism in the dictionary, Robin comes up. Robin is the mc in this book, and she is an awful, irritating, nasty woman who has an incredible holier than thou attitude. She is so unimaginably unlikable. I don't understand how she managed to stay in a relationship for so many years. I hated her. Like full-on wanted to shake her. She is this incredibly angry person who enjoys being mean. She says it herself. She enjoys being mean. Her best friend is no better, but the way Robin treats Ellie is downright awful. Half of what Robin says is correct, but the parts where she's making fun of Ellie for wanting to have a pretty wedding? Downright awful. The writing is also something else. There are * a lot* of long monologues. Mainly, Robin spoke to us for pages about her political views. The ending was awful as well. There wasn't any build-up whatsoever. It was so anticlamatic that one would assume the entire purpose of this book was to simply tell us about Robins political views. I also think that the writer was living vicariously through Robin. She's telling us about what she believes in through this character. Also. The ending, where Ellie just writes a 4 page essay to robin to explain why she tried to kill her? Just very weak writing from the author tbh. There was no suspense or thrill whatsoever . In conclusion. I hated this book. It was a book that had the potential to be great but ended up falling short. I shan't be reading any more from this author.

Repost from @itsabookthing2021 • ⭐ BOOK TOUR REVIEW⭐ Thank you so much to @sjrichardsauthor for the copy of Taken To The Hills and to @lovebookstours for having me on this tour. I really enjoy a good mystery crime book and Taken To The Hills was no exception. I really enjoyed the writing of this novel, it kept me gripped throughout and the pages just kept turning with ease. I liked the characters, Luke was like the glue that brought his unlikely team together. I liked how all the characters were unique but brought the story together.  The twists and turns were a pleasure to read and this certainly was a great start to the Luke Sackville series Blurb Abductions and murder are not what ex-DCI Luke Sackville expected when he left the police after tragedy struck his family. Luke’s return to the workplace was meant to be a soft landing but when a woman vanishes after being accused of taking bribes, he is assigned a disparate team and tasked with tracking her down. Their search becomes more urgent when her disappearance is linked to the death of a second woman. When a third goes missing the hunt becomes a race against time. Luke’s return to work presents him with the most challenging case of his career as the murder victims mount. Murder and intrigue are peppered with humour in this fast-paced crime thriller set in and around the beautiful city of Bath in the southwest of England. Taken to the Hills is the first in the Luke Sackville crime series. If you like a team you can root for then you’ll love this page-turner. At first, I was like, "How sad. Then I got to the end and was like, "These people need therapy more than I do. It's a fantastic book. I read it in three hours. The storyline is nuts. I don't know who to believe. No matter whose pov you look from, they all contradict each other. Everyone is either an author or an actor. Both are able to twist reality. Do I think Adam got what he deserved?Yah. Do I think Amelia got what she deserved? I'm not sure. Was Henry Winter a bad person? No idea. I have another one of @alicewriterland s books, which I'll be reading tomorrow. Overall, a horrifying book with horrifying characters. 10/10 would reccomend.

Don’t let the cast of characters surprise you, they all intertwined very well and you can follow the along very easily. I enjoyed each and every character. It was such a gripping and fast read for me, full of mystery and suspense. I finished this one in a few days and can’t wait to read more from Susan Walter in the future. Thank you @netgalley and Lake Union Publishing for sending me a gifted copy of this e-book for my honest book review. #bookishtkreview #bookreview #bookrecommendations #crimethrillerreads #netgalley #kindlereads #bookworm #bookstagrammer #booklover #australiabooklover

Happy Publication week to Stop Them Dead by Peter James 🥳 About the book (not my review): A ruthless crime. A race against time. In the dead of night, a farmer hears a suspicious noise. It’s everyone’s worst nightmare: a break-in. When he confronts the intruders, he has no idea that just minutes later he will be left lying in a pool of blood. But the chilling truth lies not in the act itself, but what the perpetrators were willing to kill for. At the scene of the crime, Detective Superintendent Roy Grace senses something amiss. This is no mere botched robbery; it’s the tip of the iceberg of a nationwide crime epidemic. Ruthless gangs, operating with military precision, have discovered a new black market flourishing in the shadows – an unthinkable source of wealth even more profitable than drugs. Grace’s investigation into this deadly trade pits him against some of the most ruthless people he has ever encountered; people who will kill anyone who gets in their way, because where there is greed, there is murder. The clock is ticking, and the stakes have never been higher. Out of his element, and out of time, can Roy Grace put a stop to these criminal masterminds before more innocent lives are lost? 📚 Thank you @macmillanaus for sending me a gifted copy. I'm looking forward to reading this one. I hope you are all having a great Wednesday 💕 #bookstagrid #booksyesplease #crimethrillerreads #allthecrimebooks #givemeallthebooks #australiabookstagram #booklover #bookworm #addictedtobooks #bibliophilelife

📚 Book Review 📚 Lucky Number 11 by Jess Kitching. Crime Thriller | 348 Pages Publication Date: 25 August 2023. Wow Jess Kitching you did it again! Hannah Allen is “lucky number 11” she survived the serial killer known as Peter Harris. Ten years of therapy and friendship have helped Hannah overcome her past trauma. That is until a dead body has been found and bearing similar injuries to Peter’s victims. Hannah’s whole world is now completely spiraling. Do we have a copycat killer and is the killer someone close to home? I can safely say I devoured this one and enjoyed the audiobook immensely. The plot is fast paced, well written and absolutely gripping from the very beginning. What I loved most about the book was that it was written from the survivors point of view. The book had me guessing right up to the end of who the killer was. Thank you @all_of_our_books for organising the buddy read for this one and to my fellow buddy readers @mamas.high.on.books @bookwormdownunder @bookiebron, lou_b_reads @serenity.of.books @renzoreads for a great time. #bookishtkreview #bookreview #bookrecommendations #crimethrillerreads #allthecrimebooks #givemeallthebooks #addictedtobooks #allthebooks #australiabookstagram #booksareamazing

📚 Book Review 📚 All The Little Liars by Victoria Selman. Crime fiction | 384 pages Publication Date: 31 August 2023 I jumped at the opportunity to read Victoria's new book. I enjoyed her debut novel Truly Darkly Deeply and I knew I would enjoy this one too. We follow the story of Finn and Izzy. They are sisters and couldn't be any different. Izzy went through mutism when her Mum passed away and finally came back out of her shell. She has started at a new school and met two friends (she has never had a friend before) Plum and Lu. The girls went to a party and only two of them came home. Told in two time frames of before and after told in Finn's voice, we also get snippets from Izzy's diary. They help to fill in some blanks at the start when she meets her friends. What happened that night? And why have two of the friends confessed to murder? Trust me when I say you should go in to this book blind. All the Little Liars is an absolute page turner. It is a disturbing read full of toxic friendships, loss of a parent, sisterly love and manipulation/grooming. It is well written and feels like a true crime story when reading. It keeps you wanting all the answers until the last sentence. Thank you @netgalley and @quercusbooks books for a gifted copy of this book for my honest review. #bookishtkreview #bookreview #bookrecommendations #crimethrillerreads #allthecrimebooks #givemeallthebooks #addictedtobooks #netgalley #kindlereads #ebooks

Honestly, I sent a list of books I wanted to my collegues and friends, and they did not disappoint. (It was my birthday. I'm not randomly terrorising everyone for books.) 1) dark room by Tom becker. Darla is a psychic, and she is seeing visions of murder. 2)The party by @lisahallauthor Rachel goes to a party, and something awful happens. 3)The Thursday murder club by @misterosman 4 eighty year olds catch a killer. 4)Frozen charlotte and Charlotte says by @alex_bell86 honestly terrified to read these. Dolls and dead girls. That's all imma say. 5)Don't let her stay by @_nicola_sanders joannes step daughter wants her to he removed from the equation. 6)wrong place wrong time by @gillianmauthor murder time travel loop 7)stillhouse Lake by @rachelcainewriter ginas husband sends people to meet god. Ginas husband gets caught. Gina runs. Now, someone is offing people in the same way. Gina does not know why and is very worried. So. I've reread this and have possibly described these books in the shittiest way possible. But I've been awake since 5 25. So I'm giving myself a pass. Enjoying stillhouse Lake by @rachelcainewriter rn. The paper quality is very good. (So is the plot) I also got sacrificed by sharon bolton, but I really wanted to screech at the main character, so it's not included in the picture.

📚 Book Review 📚 The Good Doctor by Jessica Payne Psychological thriller | 380 Pages Publication Date: 14 June 2023 This is my second Jessica Payne book and as I have said before it won’t be my last. A medical thriller following the story of Chloe Woods, a recently graduated nurse practitioner who is looking for her next chapter with her new fiance’ Elton. Chloe gets a new job in Portland Hospital with her fiance’ (who is also a nurse) and is utterly shocked when she finds out she will be working alongside her ex-husband Jameson, especially when patients start dying. She thought she escaped him three years ago. Can Chloe’s new life be in jeopardy? The Good Doctor was a fast read for me and I enjoyed a lot of this book especially the hospital setting, never knowing who to trust and the serial killer theme. Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for the gifted e-book copy for my honest book review. #bookishtkreview #netgalley #bookreview #bookrecommendations #crimethrillerreads #kindlereads #ebooklover #booksarelife #livebreathebooks #morebooksplease

Repost from @itsabookthing2021 • ⭐ BOOK TOUR READ ALONG REVIEW ⭐ Aah it's that time, what a month and what a read!! I've thoroughly enjoyed taking part in this read along so thank you so much @lovebookstours @aj_wilton_author and @shawline_publishing for letting me join this fabulous read along and of course thank you again for the book 🧡 ⭐ REVIEW ⭐ I originally thought You Killed My Wife was going to be a psychological thriller but I got way much more with this crime thriller as I delved deeper into the world of spyware and hacking. This novel was so interesting, it was written so well, diving into the story and letting play out with an intensity which I felt gripped me as I was reading. The action scene was fantasticly described creating a great atmosphere which felt like it could pop off the page. The characters, I really enjoyed their realism, each adding to the story. Mort and Pig especially; ex military and out for vengeance created a dynamic that was great to read, their characters felt realistic to me and their interactions just cemented the naturalness of the projection of the storyline. I really like Maria too, she was strong and intelligent and definitely held her own. Susie again was a great addition to Mort. The storyline itself was great, the descriptions were rich and lavish pulling you into the story and the action I really enjoyed the ending too and I can't wait to read book 2. #youkilledmywife #ajwilton #lovebookstours #lbtcrew #readalong #bookstagram #crimethriller #crimethrillerreads #crimemysteries #newbook #bookclub #booktok #bookish #mysteries #mysteryreads #fiction #bookclubread #booklover #readersofinstagram #bookstagram #booksofinstagram #bookaddict #readmorebooks #booknerd #instabookstagram #bookrecommendations #instagramreads #instabooks #instareads

💀🔪 THRILLER BOOK REVIEW 🔪💀 BOOK: Genesis GENRE: Crime Thriller AUTHOR: @chriscarterbooksofficial STAR RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ REVIEW: My last read of August and I think I left the best till last! I had serious FOMO when this book came out but I wanted to read the whole series in order and the time finally came to read this book. Patience is a virtue and all that! It was a violent and graphic book. I won't lie about that. Like all his books, you get what you sign up for. Brutal murder. Elaborate deaths and twisted killers. I loved the detail and plot development in this book, weaving into an explosive and nail-biting conclusion that honestly left me speechless. I didn't guess the twists in this either. But they were so clever! The reality is that the underlying message in this book is extremely relevant and important. The murders! I have to admit even I got a little twitchy! And I read this book before bed every night...probably not the best idea but I didn't have nightmares so that's good. No doubt about it. Probably my favourite CC book to date...but then there's One by One and The Executioner and The Night Stalker and The Caller...You get the gist! Now I just need to wait till next year for book 13! #Genesisbook #chriscarterfan #crimethrillerbooks #crimethriller #crimethrillerreads #roberthunterfan #thrillerbookreview #thrillerreviewer

My new favourite @gillianmauthor book. Something has finally knocked 'How To Disappear' off the top spot! A woman is missing but the police officer in charge is being blackmailed into framing the wrong person. That, along with a previously unsolved case and her daughter's future on the line, leads to a mother making some difficult choices. I audibly gasped several times and shouted "I knew it!" to an empty house all whilst consuming this book in two days - unheard of for me. Some portions of the book can feel a little slow but you just never know when the next twist is coming... And the pay off is incredible. As always, a stunning study of relationships and impossible choices, with a few crimes thrown in for good measure. I'll forever be grateful to @the_book_taster Live 2022 for introducing me to this author, now one of my absolute favourites. #Bookstagram #2023Reads #BookReview #GillianMcAllister #JustAnotherMissingPerson #CrimeThrillerReads #LibraryBooks @kentlibraries
