What are you currently reading/listening to? I’m reading book 3 of a YA trilogy by Caroline O’Donaghue about magical teens who are fighting off a fundamentalist cult. Also, reading The Chronology of Water (memoir) by Lidia Yuknavitch and it is absolutely and gorgeous gutting. Also reading The Black Unicorn (poems) by Audre Lorde. Also both reading and listening to a memoir by Daniel Sherrell called “Warmth: coming of age at the end of our world.” And lastly, I am listening to book 2 of a British crime series by Ann Cleeves. The main character/inspector is gay and his backstory is that he was rejected from his family and community for his gayness and refusal to conform to the rigidity of the cult-like faith he was raises in.

In this book the authors describe how the lessons they have learned in combat can be utilized in other areas of life, business, and organizations. I really appreciate the set up of the book. They describe the real world combat environment, the principle and the application. Leadership is dynamic and can be learned and improved upon. As I prepare to move to a new city and new job, I am preparing myself to practice the application of these principles to a new job and with my new co workers and environment.
Have you ever seen a puddle of water that was stagnant? There's no circulation, no fresh water source, and the water just sits there. If left over time and the sun doesn't evaporate it first, bacteria can form and the water can turn green. There's little life left. We can slide into stagnation. It happens a little bit at a time and often so slowly that it is almost imperceptible. Midlife crisis! 🐸 GRANITE HARBOR by #PeterNichols 🐸 (out 4/30) The body of a local teenaged boy is found mutilated and displayed at a historic preservation site in the small town of Granite Harbor, Maine. I really enjoyed getting to the bottom of this murder-most-strange (involves toads!!) through the eyes of writer-turned-detective Alex and the many residents of this small town, all of whom are shocked by the murder—but one of whom must be the perpetrator. A heavy dose of the gory and gruesome so beware. I will definitely be keeping this author on my radar in the future. More to come on @heartsanddaggerspod soon. Endnu en bog af Matt Haig, som jeg har haft lyst til at læse i et stykke tid, er ‘Når tiden går i stå’, som er udgivet hos Modtryk 👀🙌 OBS. af hensyn til fuld gennemsigtighed gør jeg igen opmærksom på, at jeg for nylig er blevet ansat som redaktør hos forlaget Svane & Bilgrav, der bl.a. har udgivet Midnatsbiblioteket.
BOOK DRAGON ALLIANCE APRIL READALONG 🐉 #whenwomenweredragons by Kelly Barnhill ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Book 75/100 #goodreads #bookchallenge I do love being a member of the @book.dragon.alliance group! They have such fun collabs and monthly readalongs. Do check them out! One of April's voted for #readalong books (there are a couple to choose to be a part of each month) was WWWD. I'd had this sat on my kindle for ages so decided this would be a good time to read it. I also listened to this on #audiobook while pottering about with chores. BLURB in comments, but this is a feminist tale set in 1950s America where thousands of women spontaneously transformed into dragons. 🐉 MY THOUGHTS - Was this what I expected? Not at all. I expected this to be more #fantasy than it was. While being about #dragons I think the fact it was set in 1950s USA and had a more factual feel to it meant it was more a #comingofage #womensfiction read than the #fantasyread I expected. Did I enjoy it? Yes, in a strangely confused but keep reading / listening way 🤔🤣 Once I got my head around the writing style and the way the book leaned in terms of genre I did enjoy this. I liked Alex, her strong determination and courage as she juggled different relationships and events (so no spoilers) and caring for her 'sister' I did feel at times that parts of the story were longer than they needed to be in the book 🤷♀️ and I could have probably enjoyed this more if so. That being said though there were also so many different aspects to this book, each one well writing and really swept you up into the time period. The coming of age, question what you are told and self realisation aspects of this book where interestingly interwoven throughout the book. The #saphicromance #lgbq 🏳️🌈 relationships where one of the best parts of the story I felt. Obviously in the 1950s feelings surrounding queer relationships were even more prejudiced 😢 and I loved the way the MCs just loved and respected each other here. Overall a 4⭐ read though for entirely different reasons than I expected 🤣 Have you read this one? Is it on your radar? Or any books that surprised you recently?

Reading update ☀️ My year of Sanderson continues! I have finally picked up Rhythm of War after a little break after Oathbringer. I wanted to space out the series a little more as Wind and Truth isn’t out until December but I couldn’t wait any longer, I needed to continue. I am a little over halfway and WOW this is such a good book. From what I have seen this is a lot of readers least favourite in the series but not for me at the moment, I am flying through it. We’ll see what my opinion is when I am finished 😂 The journey through the Cosmere has honestly been my favourite reading experience to date and I plan to have all the full length novels completed next month as I am also halfway through Mistborn era 2! I reread Still Life with Carrie @just.another.chapter.and.tea this month. The reason I reread this book was because I remember loving Ulysses’ story but was confused by the ending. I am so glad I took the time to slowly reread this story because reading this book without distractions made me LOVE this book. This is a beautiful story of friendship, fond family, love and community. How each of the characters impact each other without even realizing it is amazing. This is the type of book you want to both read the physical book and listen to the audiobook at the same time. However, you will want to sit down with a cup of tea or coffee or now that the weather is warmer a glass of lemonade. You want to be able to relax and savor this book and immerse yourself in the Italian culture and the amazing friendships in this ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ book. Here are a couple of my favorite quotes from the book: “There are moments in life, so monumental and still, that the memory can never be retrieved without a catch to the throat or an interruption to the beat of the heart. “ “the responsibility of privilege must always be to raise others up” “Nothing to do with patriotism. I believe in the unity of the world. I believe in the power of people working together.” These three quotes sum up the spirit of this book.
