I took a workout class today that celebrated the 10 year anniversary of 21 Day Fix. It was so fun to honor and revisit something that was so transformative for me, but it wasn't because of the workout. I had been on my fitness journey for probably six years, and had never followed a nutrition plan. So when I did the OG 21 Day Fix way back in 2017, I decided to try the nutrition plan that went with the workout. These little colored containers were my first intro to a whole foods nutrition plan, and they taught me that I had been a chronic undereater for years! Once I started using them & visualizing what I needed to be eating to fuel my body correctly, I finally started having some ab definition & obliques that I'd never had before! I thought I just wasn't working out hard enough. For awhile I actually did two workouts a day just to try to get a six pack. 🤦‍♀️ It didn't work. 🤣 But when I started eating double what I had been eating and working out less with these 30 min workouts & simple nutrition? Voila, abs! The containers were also my foot in the door to my whole foods, healing, anti-inflammatory nutrition that I prioritize today, but at the time knew nothing about! Anyways, it was fun to revisit one of my faves today! I'm so grateful for this workout, and this nutrition, that taught me so much and changed my life! Little meal prep to set myself up for this week! At least the first part, yo girl eats a lot. 🤣 Breakfast for myself & the hubby for tomorrow. I really like having my breakfast ready when I get up, when I do fruit, I pour about 3 cups of frozen berries/mixed fruit in a bowl in the evening, and it's thawed out for my breakfast in the morning. I'm not scared of fruit, my body feels the best when I eat a lot of brightly colored berries, so I aim for at least 3 cups a day! You want those bright colors! Cauliflower rice. Quinoa. Roasted peppers & onions. Meal prep doesn't need to be complicated! Keep it simple. I batch prep a lot so I can throw things together and go. The most DELISH whipped carrot hummus from my gut health plan! It was a new fave the minute I made it for the first time a few weeks ago! So good! And how pretty are my sweet potato nachos? I had tummy issues for years! Bloating, food sensitivities, and losing and gaining the same 8lbs that I suddenly couldn't seem to consistently keep off. It was so frustrating, and I couldn't figure out why. I also had ongoing issues with joint pain, and my body not feeling great. Y'all know I love my hippie books and podcasts, and I started reading & listening to a bit about the gut microbiome, and how vital your gut health is to your whole body health. I was so fascinated with what I'd learned, but knowing where to start with healing my own gut, or if I even needed to, was overwhelming. It was perfect timing that early last year, a new version of my whole foods, holistic nutrition plans was introduced. A gut health & anti-inflammatory inflammatory plan that guided me through a four week process to see how what I was eating made MY body feel. And this shit has been a GAME CHANGER for me, and my body. Bloating is few and far between, instead of several times a week looking pregnant, and feeling like crap. I'm not constantly inflamed on the inside, which means WAY less joint pain! 🙌 I notice such a big difference in my face, and my skin! And if I DO have an inflammatory gut flare (too much sugar or stress can do me in), I have a plan that I know exactly what to do to feel better. This isn't about my weight, it's about how much better I FEEL! However I'm not gonna say I'm unhappy that the inflammatory weight isn't hanging around. 🙂 This is a lifestyle of health & longevity for me, and this is just another tool in my wellness toolbox to help me take THE BEST care of my most important investment.
