Before that, they were used for medicinal purposes, added to meals, planted in gardens or pots. Personally, they are my favorite flower. I’m having the oil changed in my car this morning—finally getting some quiet time and rereading Michelle Magorian’s GOOD NIGHT, MR. TOM. It was the first book I connected with on a personal level. It’s Member Spotlight time and we’re pleased to highlight Megan Emmot! Many of you already know her from our Sparks Sessions as she creates our brilliant prompts for us. We can’t thank her enough for inspiring us every single month! Megan is a writer, whose essay was published in a book called LIVING THROUGH LIMINALITY. She is currently writing mostly picture books and poetry. We love what she had to say about being a creator: “The most important thing I’ve learned in my creative practice is that I have to be open to vulnerability. It’s clear when I’m trying to hide behind pretty words or dance around something at arm’s length because the work feels superficial, like it has nothing solid on which to grow. On the other hand, when I’ve brought a full, open heart to the work, it grows into something beyond myself and offers a place for others to connect in meaningful ways. Got to meet @amy.harmon.author last night and she was an absolute DELIGHT. Authentic, kind, humble, and generous with sharing her time and experiences. I’ve had a hard time envisioning the long run of what balancing writing and motherhood will look like now that my mom is gone. She was incredible and always willing to help with the kids for a few hours if I was really in a time crunch, even in the midst of all her own treatments and appointments.
