✨ Supported Leg Raise ✨ Supported Leg Raise is an even softer restorative version of legs up the wall. Using props of blocks and a bolster to make a little Stonehenge structure under the knees to lift the legs and suspend them comfortably. The bend in the knee allows less strain through the hamstrings and the back of the legs. Legs raised is known to have benefits for the circulatory system as the legs are higher than the heart. This posture helps to reduce blood pressure and lower heart rate and generally support Venus return of blood to the heart. Think of it as a reset for your cardiovascular system. In Restorative yoga the goal is to support a relaxation response that engages the parasympathetic nervous system (responsible for rest and digest). You can find an easier version of this asana in the Yoga Sequence for Your Heart Chakra post, which istraditionally practised after Sarvangasana , Halasa and Karnipadasana, on the way down as a counterpose but you can also practise it by itself. Here's the photo from my reel earlier today. It had been a long time, at least a few months since I had used my diabolos so yesterday I thought why not take some photos as the last photo of me using them was may 28th 2021 so thought it was about time I took some new ones. This shot was taken by one of my nieces after I had struggled for a good half hour running back and forth to and from the camera to press the shutter button and utilise the 10 second timer for me to try get the diabolo to a speed I could do a trick, but by that time the timer had run out and taken the photos, but my nieces timing was perfect in capturing this shot with the high shutter and burst mode.
