Justin and Emma meet online and they both believe they have the same curse—everyone they date and break up with goes on to find their soulmate. In a bid to find their own soulmates, they decide to date to cancel out each other’s curse. I’m in love with this book, with this story, with this author. This is exactly what contemporary romance should be. There’s so much care with how this story is delivered, so much love with how the characters are written. The banter, the drama, the yearning, the angst, the chemistry, the sisterhood, I didn’t want this book to end. I cried, I laughed, my heart was just so happy reading this. The characters are absolutely delightful (where is my Justin ooo 😩), and the storytelling is incredibly beautiful. Vulnerability is an important part of any romance I take seriously and I’m always so glad to read new Jimenez because she improves on her romance writing craft with every new work and if that’s not laudable, I don’t know what is. Another element I really enjoyed was the easter eggs and how the story tied together from the other books in the series. I could go on and on. Run to pick this one up. 🥺❤️
🩷book review: The Next Best Fling by Gabriella Gamez🩷 Pub day: July 9, 2024 Before I picked up this book, I was in a HUGE romance slump. I was DNF-ing romance after romance & I had only enjoyed one ALL YEAR. I had decided to take a break from the genre for a while, but I randomly picked this book up and I’m so glad I did. This book has renewed my love for romance🥰 This is the perfect romance read! It had everything I ever want in a love story. It had lovable main characters, so many adorable moments, lots of pining, and even drama👀 I loved the characters so much. Marcela and Theo were so great. They had such amazing chemistry. Their relationship had such depth. And the characters individually, had so much depth as well. ALL of the characters were so well developed to the point where I understood everyone, both the good and the bad parts. Theo has made his way into my book boyfriend hall of fame. From his grand romantic gestures to how attentive he was to her feelings. He was the perfect man. Fake dating is my favorite trope and this was fake dating done well. The scenario which caused the fake dating felt so natural to the story. And this book had a third act breakup that made perfect sense. It wasn’t just some miscommunication where grown people don’t know how to explain their emotions. There were layers to it that they really had to sort through in order to come back together. I feel like this review doesn’t even begin to convey how much I loved this book. This story had me cheesing and giggling at all the cute moments & beautiful confessions. It had me cussing people out. It had me tearing up. It just took me through so many emotions, in the best way. It was literal perfection from beginning to end. This book is for the real lovers! I have loved each book in Miranda Liasson's Seashell Harbor series but The Summer of Second Chances is my favorite! I don't know if it's because you have two books worth of tension leading up to Darla and Nick's story or if it's because you can also see the aftermath of Hadley's and Kit's stories but the third installment is so good! I have a really bad habit of procrastinating on reading books by my favorite authors because I don’t want to wait a whole year (or more) for their next book! I’m TRYING to do better, especially since my Netgalley shelf is about on overload. Anyone else? Or do you read a highly anticipated book the second you have access? Anyway, Just For the Summer, by Abby Jimenez, is one of those books. Thanks @readforeverpub for the gifted ecopy! Imagine if all of your exes found their soulmate right after you break up with them. Justin and Emma both have this “curse” so they decide their best chance of breaking it is to date each other, then when they break up, they’ll each meet their soulmate. Well, just guess how that turns out for them. I think what I loved most about this book is that it touches on deeper topics in a way that lends to the story. Emma has a lot of baggage thanks to her mom, and it adds layers to her character. Justin has his own issues, such has getting custody of his siblings while his mom serves a prison sentence. He was a bit needy for my taste - or maybe not needy but very up front about his feelings in a way that would have made me, personally, uncomfortable. (Maybe I’m just weird, who knows). I loved their chemistry and their banter, and the bits about the Toilet King cracked me up. Thanks @readforeverpub for the gifted copy 🫶🏼 👍🏼: I loved many things about this story including second chance romance, flashbacks to the past, road trip vibes & a runaway bride. It was a super fun plot as Emma & her past fling, Finn, go searching for their best friend, who is supposed to be getting married that weekend. I truly enjoyed the first 80% of the story with the banter, steam & fast paced plot! There were lots of fun and soul searching moments that made it an easy & enjoyable read. 👎🏼: The last 20% of the story is where things started to fall apart for me when I realized we still weren’t getting any answers we were looking for & building suspense towards throughout the story. Apparently, there is going to be a sequel coming, however, the story unfortunately left me unsatisfied & having more questions than answers 😭 I do love an ending that’s left up for interpretation in some genres? But typically not romance 😂 I will definitely be looking out for a sequel though if the rumors are true to get more of the story I was looking for!! Overall, this was an impressive debut fiction novel for Hannah Brown & enjoyable most of the time! • OUT JUNE 11 • ONE LAST SUMMER by Kate Spencer Contemporary Romance 320 pages ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thanks to @readforeverpub for the #gifted ARC! Clara Millen likes things nice and tidy and organized and predictable. Relatable, amirite? She’s forced to take some time off of work on a mini sabbatical week and heads to her friend group’s annual summer camp reunion. Rekindling the flame with her childhood crush and seeing what she’s missing out on prioritizing work over her friends has her questioning if she’s really living the right way. ONE LAST SUMMER was a cute, nostalgic read. I really enjoyed the friend group and how close-knit they were after so many years. The second-chance romance trope made a lot of sense here, but I was also struggling to really feel the connection between Clara and Mack. In general, I think the group just felt a little immature and not quite 35 — @exercise_read_repeat and I were chatting and agree it seems like they were more 25ish. I did love the call-out for how much people experience burnout in corporate jobs and how important it is to prioritize people over work and to take breaks. I think this one is for you if you’re in that position, or if you ever attended summer camp as a teenager! Did you go to any summer camps?

📚Pub Day Review📚 Author: @authordebmason Publisher: @readforeverpub Debbie Mason writes the perfect small town, sweet romances. And this book was no exception. I loved getting to return to Sunshine Bay. Willow was our quintessential sunshine. With her fun lobster costume that she does the weather in, to her unending optimism. I loved all the escapades she got into trying to do her reports. Add in some second chance, friends to lovers with Noah and we had a recipe for a good book. We also get the added bonus of her big Italian family and all the drama that entails. Teenaged Cami had me laughing out load with all her antics. And I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Amos. Because who doesn’t love the token grumpy old man. This was a heartwarming read about not just love, but family and forgiveness. Definite recommend for those looking for a summer/beach read. //✨ What was your last 5 star read? ••• ••• ••• ••• ••• ••• ••• ••• ••• REVIEW✨ Not Another Love Song By Julie Soto This is the perfect spicy, high-level chemistry romance with lots of elements of flaws and emotions that will give you butterflies. Gwen and Xander’s chemistry is off the charts! I couldn’t stop reading! Gwen is an inspiring violinist that plays for the Manhattan Pops. When she is working a side gig with her roommate she meets Xander Thorne, the cellist for the band Thorne & Roses who Gwen loves but she also knows Xander’s reputation from playing with him in the Manhattan Pops. There meetings starts off very rough but there is a chemistry that neither of them can deny. I thought that Soto did a magnificent job writing this book, I have a very basic level of understanding music and I loved everything that I learned and I never got lost. The smút scenes were fabulously done and I may have read them a few times over. I loved this book so much! I had a feeling that I would since I loved her first book so much! This book featured little appearances from characters in the first book but it is a stand alone novel. It was so nice to see a little bit of Ama and Elliot from Forget Me Not. I will be highly recommending this book to everyone and I can’t wait for Julie Soto’s next book. I firmly believe that this is the best romance of the year and quite possibly my favorite book of the year. I am obsessed. 😍 Julie Soto has mastered the Reylo fanfic game in my book. I was absolutely enthralled by the author’s intro note, alone, and then I promptly DEVOURED this book. Who knew a first violinist and first cellist romance could be so freaking hot?! 🥵 The characters are amazing, the plot is on point, and the spice is hotter than a ghost pepper. 🌶️ This book seriously has it all. I’m a huge instrumental music fan, so it was nice to turn on my reading playlist and just let it go. Somehow, it felt like it always managed to sync up with the story perfectly. Mistakes We Never Made by Hannah Brown ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ Emma is the type-A mom friend of her friend group. When the gang gathers for Sybil’s wedding Emma has everything planned to a T, unfortunately things don’t go according to plan, starting with Finn showing up unannounced and ending with bride Sybil disappearing. Finn and Emma have a complicated history but when Finn is the only one who can help Emma track down Sybil, she takes him up on his offer to drive to San Diego then throughout the southwest. On their journey they work through their shared past and Emma works through some of her more personal issues. I am aware of Hannah Brown but I never watched her seasons of Bachelor / Bachelorette or any of the other reality series she’s been on, and I do want to acknowledge the book does have a ghost writer, Emily Larrabee. I enjoyed Mistakes We Never Made. It was easy to read so much so that I read it in one day. I love second chance roadtrip romances so this was right up my alley. Emma was a complex character, but where the book was entirely from her perspective the other characters, including Finn, felt less fleshed out. There were several plot elements that were never resolved or things that were mentioned like they had been part of the story the whole time, but had never been mentioned before (ex. Finn randomly references he’s a person of color around 60% in and it’s not referenced anywhere else), but the story still flowed nicely. I am interested to see if Hannah’s future books sticks with this same group of friends. NOT ANOTHER LOVE SONG follows Gwen Jackson and Xander Thorne – two string players who fight their attraction for each other as they compete for center stage in a spicy and emotional romance. I loved that the author thought of this story after attending an orchestra event and she had seen how the seating arrangement of the two first chair musicians could make for an interesting and spicy romance opportunity if they were to get involved. And she’s not wrong!! This is a classic example of grumpy sunshine / enemies to lovers and the tension that builds between the two is exhilarating. I enjoyed learning more about orchestra life since I wasn’t familiar before reading and I think it made for the perfect romance setting. Also, the cover?? THAT scene… IYKYK. I’ll be honest, the romance seemed to come out of nowhere for me. Xander is an asshole and unbearable 60% of the book and I feel like there’s not enough conversation or buildup between the characters before they jump into getting steamy. Their romance just felt off to me from start to finish and I was never truly rooting for them. At one point, I seriously didn’t even think they’d end up together, given how Xander acts most of the time. As a die-hard romance reader, this just didn’t live up the hype for me personally, but I still enjoyed the orchestra/music component, how Gwen and Xander grow as musicians and people and learning more about their upbringings (completely different but bonded by one special person). When the bride seemingly gets a case of cold feet and runs, Emma and Finn are begrudgingly on the road trip to find the bride. Close quarters and long hours in a car make them face past mistakes and future decisions. Debut novel by reality personality Hannah Brown. I jumped on the chance to read this because I enjoyed her outspoken honesty on the bachelorette. I thought this was well written. The author put so much of herself in the book, since watching her on TV, I felt I knew much of this book. It was a fun story line, but it seemed to drag out in places and I felt frustrated with the characters, and never really connected with them or felt their chemistry. They all felt immature and shallow. Emma and Finn’s personal issues were handled with empathy, lending well to their development. The ending wrapped up quickly, but some of the storylines were disappointing and ambiguous. Can you say sequel? Enjoyable enough beach read, enjoy with a glass of sangria. Not surprising, since Sally Hepworth & Abby Jimenez can do no wrong! ⭐REVIEW FOR TWO⭐ ✨DARLING GIRLS 5⭐s Jessica, Norah, & Alicia were raised by their foster mom, Miss Fairchild. She seemed like the perfect mother. But behind closed doors, she was an abusive monster. Years later, when a body is discovered under their former home, the foster sisters are called in as key witnesses…or perhaps suspects? ___ This was a difficult read, covering the horrors of the foster care system & child abuse, & how you can never get closure or even an apology from an abusive parent because they’ll never be convinced that they did anything wrong. But I loved how the bond between the sisters helped them survive it all. ❤️ The writing was flawless. Hepworth expertly alternates between multiple POVs & timelines. She reveals the scandalous details of the mystery drop by drop, leaving you DYING for more. But that plot twist at the end beats all. Just for the summer. “In theory…when we break up, we’d both find our soulmates (25).” ___ This was another difficult read about a foster kid. The scenes with Emma’s mom, Amber, made me feel bad for Emma but also frustrated because she can’t see her mom for who she really is. And I hated Amber. She’s a dead ringer for Shameless’ Monica Gallagher (selfish, neglectful, bipolar, & a bad mother). On the positive side, Emma & Justin were spectacular. Their banter was hilarious, their chemistry was scorching, & there's a scene where Justin crossed a river on a unicorn floatie to come to Emma’s rescue! 🥰 Also, the guest appearances of characters from Part of Your World & Yours Truly were a fun surprise! ✨Book Review✨ “Sometimes, Emma, making the mistake is the best part about love.” Hannah Brown is one of my favorite bachelorettes, so I was excited to get into this second chance read, but it just didn’t work for me. Emma and Finn have almost ended up together time and time again, but when her best friend Sybil runs away from her wedding, the two are thrown together on an adventure to find her and the longer they search, the more sparks rekindle. I had a hard time ever liking Sybil, there was never enough explanation about what happened with her and honestly not enough moments to show the strength of their friendship how Emma sees it. Sybil is not a girl’s girl. Plus there was a storyline with Emma’s dad that just didn’t seem to match Emma at all. I liked how much Emma cared for her friends but she’s hard to connect with overall, I had a hard time actually getting to know her. I liked her and Finn’s banter and the pacing was good. But I ended up just getting frustrating, I wanted more explanation of what happened to Sybil, I wanted more moments of friendship, I wanted more romance and growth. As a second chance romance, there was some cute moments and my heart went out to Emma, but I just wanted more. Thank you @readforeverpub & @netgalley for this ARC. Happy Friday, friends! What are your plans for this weekend? 👗The Three Lives of Alix St. Pierre by Natasha Lester Thank you to @ReadForeverPub and @NetGalley for a copy of the ebook! All review opinions are my own. I love how Natasha Lester writes strong women. As with The Disappearance of Astrid Bricard, once I started this one, I devoured it. I did not want to put it down. The story mainly focuses on Alix St. Pierre’s life during the Second World War, when she served as an American spy stationed in Switzerland, and after the war, when she worked as the head of publicity for House of Dior. The 1943 and 1946 storylines are interwoven, with bits and pieces of the past coming to light and illuminating the why behind Alix’s actions and reactions during her time at Dior. Honestly, I adore watching Natasha Lester’s characters take on the patriarchy. I loved the support system that Alix cultivates, the heightened sense of danger, the touch of mystery, and the love story that unfolds. I can’t believe I sat on this one for so long. I’m eager to read my way through Lester’s backlist. If you are a fan of audiobooks, I highly recommend picking up this one. 🌸𝕃𝕒𝕥𝕖 𝔹𝕝𝕠𝕠𝕞𝕖𝕣 - 𝕄𝕒𝕫𝕖𝕪 𝔼𝕕𝕕𝕚𝕟𝕘𝕤 🌸 Thank you St. Martin’s and NetGalley for providing me an ARC. I have read some of Mazey’s previous books and really enjoyed them. Opal is currently in limbo with her job, and she recently ended a relationship with her boyfriend, leaving her grieving the breakup. She suspects that her best friend, Laney, might be dating her ex, Miles, and believes that Laney may have been unfaithful with him. Pepper lives and works on her grandmother's farm. After her grandmother's recent passing, Pepper has been unable to locate the will. Opal wins $500,000, purchases a flower farm, and embarks on a reboot of her life, hoping to find inspiration and focus on her art. She discovers that Pepper is already living there, unaware that her mother had sold the property. Both women are neurodivergent and struggle with relationships and friendships. They end up sharing the same space and navigating various challenges together. The book is written from both of their perspectives. I enjoyed the narrative style and the inclusion of neurodivergent main characters, though I did not feel like the primary audience for this book. I found some aspects of the book overly spicy for my taste and would have preferred more closed-door scenes. Some parts of the storyline were overly simplified and could have benefited from more depth. I would rate this book 3.5 out of 5 stars.
