Day 16 and I’ve found some new favorite flavors!!! Purple is red cabbage with apple. I’ll do this everyday! Green is red kale, green kale, apple, oranges, pear, carrot, lime. The orange is papaya, pineapple, orange, mango. I went for a run today and had the cabbage and apple combo right after.. It gave me so much energy! Immediately after drinking!! Blessed!! I’m finding that I can no longer do smoothies sadly, they’re to heavy on my stomach now. Juice, water and herbal tea here on out. 16 days down and only 24 more days to go!!! Me and my husband are vibing high on the juice! Body feels great! Energy is though the roof! I can’t even force myself to take a nap even if the thought was there 😂 Weight is falling off! Life changed when I linked my desire not to harm animals with my inherent discomfort at watching them being killed. It didnt make sense to continue eating them. Most restaurants are happy to accommodate a request for a raw or healthy high raw meal. Yes, sometimes the options are a salad, salad, or salad, and often not a meal-size one either. But hey, I absolutely love salad and appreciate the conversations such a request can lead to. Generally, wait staff is excited to come up with something and I ALWAYS share my gratitude for their effort. I had this lunch two days in a row when hubby and I spent time at #rickettsglenstatepark and #worldsendstatepark . In this episode of “it doesn’t have to be a pretty pic to taste delicious” we have fresh 🍍 with 🍌 and 🍒. Need to eat smaller meals throughout the day for a few days so this was breakfast and lunch. I also just finished a few smaller-size steamed yellow potatoes with a dollop of No Fuss Tahini Sauce but didn’t snap a pic. No Fuss Tahini Sauce roxcipe: 2 TBL raw tahini small splash of maple syrup pinch of your preferred salt pinch of granulated onion pinch of garlic powder pinch of dried (or fresh) parsley water to desired consistency Note: 1. So after a bit too long of not eating the way I want I've committed myself to being more conscious and planning my food. Each morning, as usual, I eat as much fruit as I can 🍉🥭🍌🍓 then at lunch I've been making various different raw salads from one of @rawfoodromance books of which I have many! Then snacks are always more fruit and then a simple dinner usually consisting of potato's, greens and dressings. These dressing are the smoky bbq and mangonaise from Lissa's burger book. It was so good. Hands down the BEST papaya I have ever had the pleasure of eating. It was a smaller size with perfectly yellow skin, the inside had lots of plump, healthy seeds, and the creamy sweetness was bomb. My little guy wanted Panera, so we got Panera. Luckily, the menu can be easily modified on the kiosk! Mediterranean salad with red onions, olives, peppers, kalamata olives, pecans, cucumber, avocado, greek dressing. Not a perfect whole raw foods meal, but dang close while still being able to enjoy a lunch date with my kiddo. Most of the days (75% of the time) I am eating 3 meals a day…Today was also Day 1 of @sharanindia #7daydetoxprogram and we are following a similar eating pattern 3 meals a day Breakfast is green smoothie n fruits Lunch is the heaviest meal with grain Dinner can either be grain free cooked meal or raw This is what I had from morning to night for my 3 meals Meal 1 at 11.30am was green smoothie with frozen banana jackfruit lemon zest basil n water blended together and was god send in this blazing summer heat of Mumbai. I had about 3 glasses of this Lunch/meal two was the heaviest meal with brown rice, moong dal tadka (no oil) mix veg sabzi no oil n some pieces of grilled tofu with big serving of salad Meal 3 was some nice juicy mangoes (all of 5 mangoes) and now day has ended at 7.30pm… Feels like I have eaten a lot of food for detox right but if you look closely 2.3/3 meals are raw All meals are gluten free No nuts or oil in the meals (low fat) High fibre diet so keeps the body alkaline! Picked up some perfectly ripe honey mangos and am already itching to go back for more. I find these little yellow gems to be sweeter and creamier than a few other varieties I’ve tasted. (Did you know there are literally hundreds of varieties of mangos?) Mangos are perfect to eat when the skin slightly gives in to a gentle squeeze and are typically at their juiciest and sweetest May through September—but—these cuties are perfection right now! Though edible, mangos that are not quite ripe don’t have that juicy sweet taste that keeps us going back for more. Mangos that are overripe, on the other hand, have a sour taste (and smell) as the process of fermentation kicks in. So how do you store these delicious fruits to make them last longer while in their sweetest, juiciest stage? Unripe mangos are best stored at room temperature so they can continue to ripen, becoming sweet and slightly soft over the course of a few days. Like bananas, the ripening process can be accelerated by placing mangoes in a paper bag at room temperature. If you can’t eat all your countertop -ripened mangos right away, storing them in the fridge will buy you three to five extra days as Cool storage slows down the ripening process. Need more than an extra three to five days? Mangoes are high on the list of fruits that fare fantastically in the freezer, making freezing the perfect option to lock-in the sweetness of perfectly ripened mangos for three to six months. Follow these tips for freezing: 1. Peel ripe mangos and slice or cube them. 2. Put the pieces in a single layer on a parchment paper lined baking sheet making sure none of the pieces are touching one other. 3. Freeze for a few hours, preferably overnight. 4. Did you know that if you are lacking healthy fats in your diet, THAT could be the cause of your acne? This is a common reason for diet related acne (remember, this is different than hormonal acne!) While your fats should only make up about 15% of your total daily calories, it’s important to get that fat from healthy sources.Things like nuts, seeds, avocado and coconut. Add more anti-inflammatory fats to your diet like plant sources of Omega 3. Flax, chia and hemp seeds. Try taking a zinc citrate supplement (30-50mg) Drink plenty of clean, filtered water. Your best bet, especially if you aren’t sure what’s going on, is to have a health coach assess ALL of your symptoms so you can be sure what the cause is. If you’re on medication or have been working with a healthcare provider, it’s important to continue to do so. Blood work is also VERY helpful. It could be strictly hormonal, it could be strictly dietary/inflammation, it could be a combo. It’ll take you much less time, frustration and money wasted on supplements, lotions and potions that are probably making the problem worse to get to the bottom of the issues right away. Not to mention finding out if the underlying issues are potentially more serious and health harming than just acne - chances are they are. For example, if it’s a result of the gluten you’ve been consuming for years, there’s a chance you may also have leaky gut. If it’s the result of a poor diet high in processed foods and unhealthy fats, you may have candida. If it’s due to hormonal imbalance, that can lead to a ton of other health issues/concerns. If it’s the result of chronic inflammation, there’s a laundry list of issues that you may be experiencing that you think are totally unrelated to the acne, and if you’re not experiencing them now, they may well crop up later on. Inflammation is the driver of disease and auto immune issues.

Day 8 of my 40-Day Daniel's Fast Hummus, Jackfruit Tuna & Sweet Potato Bowl This bowl was quick and easy to chuck together with roasted sweet potato, jackfruit "tuna" sweetcorn, beetroot, tomatoes, cucumber, onion, grapes, with homemade hummus and on a bed of lettuce. I've noticed my energy levels have increased since starting this fast. I feel super inspired and motivated for the project I'm working on atm. I have also been experiencing a greater sense of mental clarity, this I know is a favorable benefit of my high strength medicinal mushroom blend, which I've been taking the full dose of religiously every day since starting instead of the usual half dose. The jackfruit tuna is a delicious and sustainable alternative, packed with flavour! This girl likes a big dinner but I had trouble finishing last night’s fully raw, fully fantastic feast. I succeeded but it wasn’t easy! Fresh herbs offer a smorgasbord of nutrients and making pesto is a great way to incorporate them. Whether thick and pasty or lusciously creamy, I find herb pesto to be fabulously versatile. For this meal I left it super thick-n-pasty to mix with coodles and green and yellow zoodles. (I find a thicker sauce better for coddles as the moisture in the cucumbers thins out the sauce.) Last night’s herb pesto roxcipe: *Didn’t measure everything but used a generous amt of herbs. *Use whatever herbs you want. fresh basil fresh cilantro fresh parsley fresh dill 1/2 cucumber, peeled juice of 1.5 to 2 lemons 1 to 2 TBL unfortified nutritional yeast 2 TBL soaked sunflower seeds lrg clove of garlic water to desired thickness pinch of salt (I use Kosher) Optional: 2 TBL hemp seeds With all those herbs this pesto has the deeply robust garden-y flavor that I’ve come to love! It's Day-7 of my 40-Day Daniel's Fast Today, I went to visit a boating friend to check out the river there to see if it's somewhere I can put my boat later this year! The conditions of the visit were that I was to bring "some amazing lunch" their exact words (they know me well). 😂 So that's what I did! The 3 of us sat on the roof of the boat and enjoyed a yummy, high raw picnic that I had prepared at home and brought over. I made some of the creamiest, most delicious hummus I've ever made! Alongside another batch of my white bean salad, roasted sweet potato, tofu 'egg' cress salad, orange and beetroot salad, more white cabbage slaw, broccoli sprouts, and grapes. There was also more lemon and coconut energy balls for afters. 😋 I also had a walk around and loved the area. It's really pretty there. It's about an hours ride on my motorcycle from where I am now. However, it's still in the garden of England, which is where I want to stay in the meantime to be closer to my family. I can actually drive my boat up the coast from the river I'm on now, to the mouth of this river, and drive up to this location, as my friend did last year. Plus, I saw my first boat here in the same marina, small world! Food went down great, company was fab, the area amazing, and the weather just perfect. Happy Sabbath, and welcome to Day-6 of my 40-Day Daniel's Fast Today was leftovers day as I set aside extra of everything I made yesterday for an easier day today. I did a lot of prep and washed a lot of dishes, so it was nice to have the day off with this "Grab and Go Salad Bowl." I enjoyed a bit of everything plus some giant Israeli couscous and some papaya my friends gave me to take home. Both the slaws tasted even better the next day, so be sure to check out the recipes for those. What can you eat on a Daniel's Fast? On a Daniel's Fast, you can enjoy a wide variety of cooked and raw plant-based foods in their whole and unprocessed form. This includes fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds. You can also consume plant-based beverages such as water, herbal teas, and freshly juiced fruits and/or vegetables. The diet allows very minimal to no added oils such as olive oil. You can also use herbs, spices, and seasonings to flavour foods, as long as they truly do not contain additives or artificial ingredients.
