April 2024 🖤 Wrap-Up I feel like my brain was too busy this month, between the last month of assignments for this semester filled with big projects; my first ever visit to the ER; the Eclipse; TS’s Tortured Poets Department; and so much more I felt overstimulated, and my writing productivity suffered a bit. I did get rid of all the chapters I knew I wouldn’t use anymore and that brought my word count down. I hoped to finish my draft before my trip, but decided instead to focus on getting good grades. I ended the month returning to my Mexico, which I think will help my writing a lot. We celebrated @sarahhodierne ‘s birthday my going to see Hozier and that was absolutely magical. At the library we had a Renaissance Faire, and I helped with the teen craft tables. I did a takeover with @lifeoflibrarians where I got to share about my workweek. And I had a program for earth day (Toys for Dogs), and Deal or No Deal which the teens took ownership of and were their own presenters. In April I read 10 books, my favorite were: ⭐️ Aru Shah and the End of Time by Roshani Chokshi | it was funny and so delightful. ⭐️ Six of Sorrow by Amanda Lindsmeier | it arranged my brain chemistry in the best way! ⭐️ The Ballad of Black Tom by Victor LaValle | it was uncanny and I enjoyed it a lot I’m still in Mexico feeling super inspired for my book, and I got a new idea for another story, which will live in my phone notes. ✨🌧️ April Reading Wrap up 🌧️✨ This month was definitely the month of the short reads. I mentally could not get myself to sit long enough to read a whole book because I was focused on spontaneously applying to college (and I did get it in~ 💅🏽✨). Onto the books; 📚“The Phoenix King” - I listened to this on audiobook and honestly I love how each pov has their own narrator as it really helps you get more immersed into the story,the world and its characters. 📚”Viciously Yours” - I only read it because it was all over my booktok FYP and I did not have a good time. I was screaming at my bestie on discord the whole time I was reading it. 📚 “The Six Deaths of the Saint” - For this to be written so beautifully and effectively in 30 pages made me wish it was longer so I can stay in this world and learn more about it. 📚 “Forged by Magic” - Gave cozy fantasy another go and I like this better than “Legends and Lattes”. #aprillikokkuvõte 🌼 Raamatuid tuli küll kokku 5, mis on sellel aastal kuu lõikes kõige vähem, kuid kes hoolega vaatab, siis üks õnnelik oli 1300 lehekülge paks, mis on kuskil 4 raamatu asemel 😀 Ma olin tegelikult enam kui kindel, et ma ei saa "Tuulest viidud" läbi aprilli jooksul, kuid üllatus üllatus, mulle kukkus sülle paar päeva, kus ma sain lihtsalt üksi lugeda ja see andis väga palju juurde. Kuu lemmikuks osutus @kirjastuspegasus "Saladuslik külastaja" mis pole väga suur ime, sest Molly on üks minu lemmikuid raamatu tegelasi. Minu jaoks ehk natuke pettumust valmistas Matthew Perry raamat. Worthy of a special mention is Ten Seconds, the latest thriller from Robert Gold and The Garnett Girls by @georginamooreauthor which was a fabulous palette cleanser and a nice change from my usual genre. ✨☘️March Reading Wrap up☘️✨ This month was a rollercoaster! Finally managed to finish ‘A Little Life’ and omg that was a journey. I’ve been at this since mid-February 😭 (I blame my partner for choosing this as my next read) As I’ve mention to a few others I had to take breaks the whole time because not only was I semi-triggered but it was just painful the whole time. So now my curiosity has been satisfied and I don’t know if I regret picking it up. The rest of the month was basically spent recovering from that whole experience and trying out different genres till I’m feeling a bit more sane. February Wrap Up and random photo dump💗💗 My main goal this month was to read more books from my shelf. I’m realising that having a lot of books I haven’t read gives me anxiety and as much as I love book shopping I don’t really enjoy hoarding books. January wrap up. January is officially a time where we begin everything newly and hope for the best for the coming months. So , I too thought to try and experience new things and to start over again newly from this year. I thought to read on my own pace and not to rush this year. And finding new way to read various books. This January I joined a readathon called #literaryhanami to read Japanese books. I was thinking to read Japanese books but It wasn't happening so joining such readathon of your own convenience makes reading interesting and help to reach your goals. So in addition I thought to read only Japanese books in Japan. Except one book which I was reading for #gameoftomes another yearly readathon for classic that I joined. Books read 1. komi can't communicate (vol-30,31 &1)- 4/5 2. Japanese fairy tale- 3.6/5 3. The traveling cat chronicles- 4.5/5 4. A Japanese boy- 3/5 5. Before the coffee gets cold- 4/5 6. The count of Monte Cristo (still reading) - I'm loving it from the very beginning. I tried to listen to podcasts many time but I didn't like any even the popular ones that everyone likes. Then this year I thought to give one more chance and listened to these 2 podcast channels. Podcasts 1. Wallflowering with litwits (all episodes)- I loved all the episodes of these channel. Yes I liked it so much that I've listened all the episodes. Unfortunately they didn't continue but still it's worth listening. They talked about different genre and aesthetics. 2. Read Japanese literature (5 episodes)- as I was reading Japanese books in January so thought to listen to these series too which I randomly came across. It is a wonderful series to get into Japanese literature for the beginner who wants to know more about Japanese literature. Then tried to cope up with my old hobbies like drawing and journaling. Helping others as much as I can. Socializing more and keeping myself warm and cozy in the chilly winter month. 💮 JANUARY WRAP UP This was a great reading month! Not only did I read a lot, I also found a new favorite! I mentioned in my first post I wanted to find a new favorite this year and I already did 😁 And one of the things that helped this month be so good was that I read more adult high fantasy (thats not romantasy) because I felt I didn't read enough last year for a genre that's one of my favorites (since I read 12 book it was still not a lot in comparison, but 3 in a month its way more than I used read last year). December Wrap Up! . What book did you finish up the year with? . I finished two SUuuPER chunky books last month (Les Miserables and Gone With the Wind) so my book stack looks super cool. 😎😂 My favrote read last month was The Frozen River which I will be reviewing this week but already put in my top ten books of 2023.
