Coming in a just over 17lb, smaller of 2 fish caught during some tough conditions the other week @willowparkfishery. . @rnaacarp 2nd match of the season. Coming out in the bottom 3rd of the match draw and with the lake not particularly fishing well, I always knew it would be a struggle. . On the morning of the last day however I spotted a few fish to my left down a little arm of the lake and it did not take long for this lovely common to be sulking in the bottom of my net. . Are y'all ready for a Melissa Ramble? So many feelings are happening inside of me. Sleep eluded me last night, and that's usually something my body does when she feels like I'm not honoring Her. This morning, I had to reach out to my Debbie to let her know that I could no longer be part of the Garden tour that happens in our small town. It has been causing me so much stress and anxiety and so many other things, and I felt it pulling the joy away from what I've created here. I was looking at things in a different light, I didn't like that feeling. This needs to get done. Oh my goodness, the porch needs to be redone. You can't have people here with boards all disheveled. The shed window, the edging over here, my goodness the ivy mess needs to be tamed, the cement bench needs to be lifted...it went on and on and on, the list kept growing and I felt myself getting smaller. As soon as something or someone robs me of my peace or makes things feel heavy, my body says no before my lips do, and we have been working so hard on getting well. Disappointing people has always and will forever be something that I do not take lightly, but honoring me is the most important. I am a little disappointed. I do want to show people another style of gardening, that there are other ways of tending to the Earth, and nurturing your land in a harmonious way. I love showing people what we've created here, but I'm not ready for the world just yet. I can't wait to frolic through the gardens this morning, enjoying the beauty and calm instead of the heavy. I went home yesterday. I escaped from the people's and I headed outside. How beautiful was the air. She felt like Summer and smelled like Spring. I talked to the muscovy duck and asked him if he wanted to come live with me. I clambered up slowly into the treehouse over looking the pond. There are framed pictures up there of my babies when they were little. I didn't stay up there too long because the woods were calling. I hugged my Tree friend, I placed my forhead on His bark and breathed Him in. I recalled the moments I loved most when I was a child. If y'all didn't know, I have very little memories of that part of my life, but some things you don't forget. And for me, it was the forest things. My friend Elizabeth and I would frolic in those woods. We'd tie black garbage bags around our boots so we could go real deep. So much mud, we'd make stick tippies, forts, pick wildflowers. I apologized to the Forest floor for picking too many woodland phlox flowers. No one told me when I was a child that if you pick too many and aren't mindful, they could disappear. I saw some yesterday, I smiled, and I cried a little inside. It's not the house. It's the forest that is my home. Letting him go was one thing, but letting go of the land is another. A few weeks back I met a chap at one of the gatherings I hold down here in the woods who told me he wanted to take some pictures of my lifestyle and what I get up to. Well here's one I thought I'd share with you. The Ash tree I'm sat on has seen some sights, a tree that whenever I pass, I can't help but sit with for a moment. This tree has witnessed so many emotions with me. It's been a place I visit when I need comfort, a source of inspiration, it's been with me in those quiet moments of happiness, I remember sitting there at one of my lowest, tears on my face and the soft moss comforting my back. Of all the beautiful trees in the woods, it seemed only appropriate to take the photographer to this one. I find such peace when I'm in nature, I also find an incredible calm when I make music. This picture makes me smile a lot, its such a great representation of encompassing my passions of making music, being amongst nature, growth, creating and the sun on my back. Or allowed yourself to unwind, to let go, and just play? This hands-on session invites you to embrace all weather conditions, to engage fully & to embrace the joy of experimentation. Expect to get smudged with smoke, splattered with mud & gloriously dirty. You’ll have the opportunity to savour woodland fare, partake in guided reflection sessions & hone your wilderness skills. Fraser boasts over 20 years of experience in the outdoor industry. Raised amidst camping trips and mountain climbs, he’s taught canoeing & rock climbing & serves as a survival instructor for the Bear Grylls Survival Academy. A fervent advocate for outdoor pursuits, Fraser champions nature’s therapeutic & grounding effects. Having personally experienced burnout in a city career & witnessed it in his peers, he transitioned to coaching. Simultaneously, Fraser founded Primal Warrior, where nature intertwines with dialogue. @primal_warrior_uk gathers men monthly for candid conversations, mutual support & community empowerment. Through platforms like Primal Minds podcast, Fraser encourages individuals to reconnect with nature & engage in meaningful discourse.
