It can take time to get back into the routine after vacation. Here are 2 easy & high protein dinners we’ve have this week so far as we’re adjusting back to our work schedules! 1️⃣ Fish tacos. We used frozen @gortonsseafood ancient grains crusted fish. Add a scoop of beans to each for more protein, then top with your favorite toppings - we used lettuce, tomato, shredded Monterey Jack cheese, hot sauce, & guac. 2-3 tacos are a great serving. If you need 3 to be full, go for it as you’ll be more satisfied later and won’t craze tortilla chips or anything after! (If you want tortilla chips, add a small handful into a small ramekin-sized bowl to easily control portions. 2️⃣ @costco cauliflower pizza & a chopped salad kit. This pizza is only 320 calories for about 3 slices and contains 14 grams protein. To bump the protein further, add frozen chicken, canned chickpeas, or frozen edamame to your salad. This was ready in 15 mins and required little to no thought, perfect when you’re drained after a long day and didn’t have a chance to plan. Remember that eating healthy should taste good and doesn’t have to be complicated. You can utilize frozen and convenience foods when you need it, and find easy recipes that don’t take up your energy. I used to workout just to burn calories. I thought that the more calories I burned the faster I would lose weight. I now understand this is the exact opposite. By going too hard too fast, I was burning myself out physically and mentally. All those high intensity cardio workouts I was doing to “burn calories” made me even hungrier! And then I would feel like a failure when I couldn’t stick to my deficit. This created a restrict and binge cycle, ultimately slowing down any attempt of fat loss. Then the opposite fostered… In an effort to “reach my goals” I would hyper restrict and I equated the calories burned from my workout as a way to “earn” my food, resulting in some pretty disordered patterns. YOUR MACRO COACH SHOULDN’T BE GIVING YOU MACROS IF THEY’RE NOT A DIETITIAN OR DOCTOR 🍎👩🏼‍⚕️. Yep. I said it. 🫣 Did you know that it can actually cause a lot of problems and negative effects if you’re given macros that are not appropriate for you? 🤯❌ I did a fitness challenge one time from a personal trainer that I LOVE - it came with “personalized” macros so I looked at them out of curiosity 🤔. She recommended 1200 calories! 1200!! The requirement for a TWO YEAR OLD 👶🏼. That’s a recipe for decreased metabolism ⬇️, decreased leptin levels leading to extreme hunger, out of control eating and binging 🌭🍟🍕🍿🍩and weight GAIN in the end 🤦🏼‍♀️. No thanks. Delicious, heathy dinner: Sweet Potato, Black Bean, Spinach and Cheese Quesadilla with sour cream using a recipe from @onebalancedlife The original recipe called for this to be cooked between two flat tortillas but I couldn’t figure out how I would flip that without all the ingredients falling out so I split it into two folded tortillas instead. Weekly weigh in I’m going based off 2 weeks ago actually bc I missed last Friday. This was the first week I actually made a real effort to track and stay within my calories. As you can see I also started daily weigh ins bc I was so out of the habit of weighing myself that I just wanted to get back in the habit and it was actually helpful to keep me on track. Not bc of the number but bc it just felt like it goes hand in hand… tracking food, eating with purpose, & to yes see a number but all in all to be accountable. I had a couple of crappy body image days while we were on vacation last month. I didn’t feel super comfortable sharing photos where I don’t feel my best, but in effort to show more REAL life (bodies don’t look the exact same every hour of every day, even with healthy habits) here I am! It was PMS week, we were somewhere hot and humid, and I was holding a lot of water. I felt bloated, my muscles didn’t look as defined, and my clothes were fitting tighter. I felt a little crappy thinking that my body didn’t reflect all of the work I put into it and I know a lot of you can relate to that feeling. It’s days like these when I turn to practicing body image flexibility. I can’t help those initial thoughts from popping in my head, but I can notice the thought without judgment, and continue to follow through on behaviours that support my wellbeing and that are in my best interest. Here’s how I put that into practice: - I didn’t view those negative thoughts as ‘true’ thoughts but rather identify them as a negative body image thought - I still followed through on actions that would make me feel my best– continuing to eat as normal, continuing to hydrate, continuing to have fun in the pool and at the beach. - I chose to wear outfits that had a bit more give so that I felt comfortable in my clothes rather than wearing something that was fitting too snug and would make me feel more uncomfortable. - And I applied context to the situation. I was dehydrated, it was really hot, I wasn’t eating normally, and I was about to start my cycle — all reasons that contribute to water retention. We all have negative body image days. But with a little bit of body image flexibility, we don’t need to let negative thoughts influence our actions or happiness :)

My Weight Loss Transformation story~ In my mid to 20’s I was the heaviest I’ve ever been at 184 lbs… I ate Pancakes and eggs for breakfast or cereal. Chef Boy R D daily, (with extra sauce and cheese) Suzi Q’s for snack. Dinner was a processed frozen meal and dessert was 8 scoops of ice cream! (With whipped cream, chocolate syrup and cherries) Later I would drown my sorrows in a bottle and a half of wine per night…. This was my life… And sadly my daughters too. Selfish, so horrifically selfish…. Later I began smoking cigarettes, which lasted two years. I was smoking a pack a day! I’d eat Red Bulls and donuts for breakfast. It was nothing for me to take my kid to a movie and eat an entire large popcorn with butter and a nachos with extra cheese all by myself…. Eventually, God got a hold of me and I began seeking Him and a deep relationship with Him. I was so on fire for Him that I couldn’t get enough of Him. I began to work on myself and the journey has never stopped. I gave up all alcohol and smoking and changed my diet and lifestyle… I’m a work in progress and will never stop allowing Him to peel the layers to my healing. I have gone through a lot in life and it is a process to expose things. Remember to be kind to yourself and be patient, but never allow yourself to stop growing… 20 something years later, I’m 40 lbs lighter, a Holistic Fitness Trainer, Health Coach and Specialist in Detoxification. I didn’t come to this easily, like you, I’ve had to work my bleep off for any successes I have. Nobody is exempt from hard work. When we see ourselves as God sees us, at least to some extent, we see that our temple belongs to Him and it’s a gift we need to love and care for. Do you ever get the feeling… That even when you know what is coming your way, You see it - and it still completely takes your breath away. Like you actually cannot believe the sight in front of you. Rhi’s transformation is that. When she sent me these photos - I just kept opening and closing them. I couldn’t believe it was her. Like seriously, is it even the same person?! Actually - it’s not the same person. I mean it’s still Rhi, but Rhi isn’t the same Rhi who started this journey. This Rhi: 🚀Feels in complete control of her diet - no longer feels ‘guilty’ for enjoying foods she likes (and may had even deemed as ‘bad’ before working with us) 🚀Gone from never going to the gym to consistently to smashing it 2-3 times a week 🚀Has signed up for another 6 months as she now believes in herself and has committed to this journey for life Old Rhi would have probably looked at new Rhi now and said ‘that’s impossible’.
