Why woman are scared to get too muscular at the beginning of their fitness journey? Many women are initially apprehensive about getting too muscular because of societal perceptions and stereotypes about femininity. There’s often a fear that building muscle will lead to a bulky or overly masculine appearance. Additionally, the emphasis on slimness as the ideal body type in media and popular culture can deter women from pursuing strength training or muscle-building exercises. Fear of judgment or not fitting into societal beauty standards can also play a role. When just starting to work out, it’s important to understand that building significant muscle mass doesn’t happen overnight, especially for women. Women typically have lower levels of testosterone, a hormone crucial for muscle growth, compared to men. Therefore, it’s unlikely that women will accidentally become too muscular from starting a fitness routine. Instead, focusing on strength training can help women develop lean muscle mass, which contributes to a toned and sculpted physique rather than a bulky one. Plus, building muscle offers numerous health benefits, including increased metabolism, improved bone density, and enhanced functional strength, all of which support overall well being. Rather than focusing on the weight you have to lose, I encourage you to instead focus on the muscle you should build. Current research is showing us that one significant commonality in people who are overweight and/or obese is low muscle mass or impairment of muscle. We are finding that obesity causes insulin resistance in the brain—a sort of “type 3 diabetes” of cerebral matter—that can lead to dementia. And with excess body fat comes lack of strength to perform certain basic movements and low physical tone - AND blood lab markers that indicate unhealthy and/or undeveloped muscle. So, the bigger issue here is not really about body fat....rather, it is about the corresponding lack of sufficient healthy muscle tissue! By focusing on just fat, and trying ALL the things to get rid of the fat, too many continue to fail to get healthy, no matter how hard they try. Instead, to improve your health AND lose excess fat, the true key is TO BUILD MUSCLE. Yes, shifts in food (fuel) will play a role. But take the emphasis off of fat loss, and re-frame your thinking and your actions toward building strong, lean muscle. By focusing on improving muscle growth, tone, and strength, you will be reversing insulin resistance and it's damaging effects on the brain - as well as completely changing (improving!) your body composition. A muscular body is far healthier than a fat body. Every. Single. Time. No, ladies - you will not start to look like Arnold Schwarzenegger just because you focus on building muscle. Current condition we be cooking🔥 Smashing through this prep potentially 4 weeks out from my first show of the season. Keeping my energy militantly high vibrational. The process of fat loss requires patience and precision. As my cals are much lower than they were in my off season I’m ensuring I’m making every set and rep count focusing a-lot on the mind muscle connection and time under tension for now while still pushing heavy weight. Watched a lot of content talking about how they are shocked after finding out celebrities have a body transformation in 1 to 6 months from zero to superhero. Or how one become muscular from changing their diet to beet juice or heaps of chicken breast and broccoli. And worst it's highly promoted by fitness magazines and influencers who are trying to dumbdown society feeding into their believes need. But of course after knowing the route these celebrities take doesn't mean it should encourage fitness seekers to take the same route especially for the young, naive and hopeful. Knowing the side effect of that route should be the top most priority. If after understanding the sacrifices to that outcome and side effect still doesn't deter you from taking that route, who am I to stop you rite? It's quite despicable for many of these influencers and sellers to promote it as the only route to body goals. Even with subtle manipulation claiming how bad for them to lie in a cover up to promoting the substance to the only way to achieve it, and hiding the facts that it can be achieved if they are willing to have the strict discipline, determination & time to take the right path. So take your own time, don't rush. Set your own goal and work towards it without comparing yourself to the influencers. Because they have their own agenda and goals that Is different from you. ATLANTICS 2024 🏆: P H O T O D U M P 2️⃣ 📸 A weekend so nice ya get to see it twice 😉 As I stated, here’s the finale of this years biggest amateur bodybuilding show on the East Coast 🇨🇦⚓️ I just didn’t have it in me to leave any of yas out tbh 😂 With 100+ competitors this year, which includes the always inspiring transformation challenge it was great to see the numbers rise up this year once again which made for great competition in all categories especially this years Goddess Showdown where the ladies blew the roof off the place with an extra special touch 💃🏼 Also, as you’ll see in one my pics an extra special shoutout to my man @adamhambrookfitness for receiving the prestigious Ken Black Sportsmanship & Humility Award for his service and contribution to this sport here on the East Coast. How much should one train legs? I think everyday, my 2 cents. Probably it's because I train legs everyday alternating hamstring / glutes & quads with calves done everyday. Why? I guess it's because it's the foundation of one's stability. Other than a good strong lower back, we stand and walk on our legs (other than some that stands and walks with their hands) And I don't train them to be massive. Just symmetrical and athletics. Just my own choice cus i always imagined iv to run away from lions. Hahaha. My gf always asked me where did I come up with that imagination. But it's just an example of what I mean. I want to train till I can function at situations that needs me to function well. But that's just me, my choice to be athletic fit and symmetrical. I can't be walking or running fast if I have 36" quads. (No scientific proof but just my own opinion) and there is no hate on those who choose to grow huge quads to godzilla size as it's their goal and preference and their beauty standard. But just train ur legs to be functional strong and fit. Train it to be muscular. Not just big in size, bloated and fatty just to take bubbly round buttocks to th1rst trap social media. Because muscles are the game changer not the size without muscles. '24 Bodybuilding Prep Update🚨 For those who don't know, the show I was already 90 days into prep for- Summer Shredding Chicago, was canceled due to not enough admissions. This was a massive blow 1 month out, given the effort I've put in since December, closing on 4 months of prep. We were nearing the finish line and the line itself disappeared before our eyes. This prep meant a lot to me. I set my eyes upon it for a distinct reason to overcome the storm in my mind & heart. That is why I'm not abandoning this prep. Houston, July 12th & 13th. I'll be continuing prep to compete in their first rendition of Fit Physique, which is Summer Shredding's first tested division. Who would opt to suffer more than they already are? Who would choose to engage in a bodybuilding prep for nearly 8 months? If not me, then who? The saying goes "Gaze unto the abyss, the abyss stares back." Let's reframe that. The abyss gazes unto me, I stare back. 88 DAYS OUT🗡
