Recovery or rest days are necessary to prevent injury, exhaustion, and overtraining. ⁣⁠ ⁣⁠ Here’s what recovery does for you: ⬇️ ⁣⁠ High-intensity exercise relies on carbohydrates to fuel your workout. If you feel sluggish, you may have depleted your glycogen levels, and your body will start catabolizing protein for fuel instead of using it to repair muscle tissue. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In general, the more muscle mass you have, the more calories you burn, so when you catabolize lean muscle/protein, you are making it more difficult to lose that last 5 pounds! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Alternatively, when you rest, you give your body time to replace the carbs/glycogen, giving your body ample fuel for the next workout. On that day of rest, your body also repairs the tissues damaged from the mechanical and metabolic stress of exercise. HOW DID I OVERCOME THE HARDEST TIME OF MY FITNESS JOURNEY ⁉️ ➡️Continued from last post ⬇️ Just when I was feeling better I injured my back and bicep in the same week. After injuring my back in the gym I broke down and left again. But I came back anyways and modified my training around the injuries. Eventually It took all the strength I had to pull myself out of this and turn my life back in the right direction. I blocked all the negative news coming from my country for some time even though my head and heart was with my people! I started to see my uplifting friends again! Started going back to my regular gym instead of only going to my apt gym. My mom came for a visit and helping her losing so much weight kept me more motivated and accountable too! (I will share her transformation on a separate post) I discovered a great cycling class with such a happy energy and great music 🎵 I reestablished a healthy relationship with food, enjoyed variety of my favorite foods but stayed accountable! Never restricted myself again throughout this process. And worked hard in the gym as I always did! Six months later around May-June 2023, I was finally back to where I was, feeling and looking my best again and I’ll never let that happen again! I celebrated myself and my work doing a photoshoot again so I can always remind myself! Today, I stand stronger and more resilient than ever before. My journey serves as a testament to the power of perseverance and self-belief. In our fitness journey, we all encounter challenges, ranging from injuries to battles with eating disorders. I am a human just like you,and I’ve battled so much ups and downs. To those facing similar struggles, know that it’s never too late to rewrite your story and reclaim your strength. 🧠 brain dump 🧠 •If you find talk of eating disorders difficult right now, please scroll by and don’t read on. I’m sending you a giant hug though and please know you can message me whenever you need someone• ⬇️ ⬇️ ⬇️ Spending my mid teens to early twenties being consumed by an eating disorder really warped my view of my body for a very long time. My body wasn’t there to be active in a healthy way, to enjoy movement and food, to be nourished. In my mind, my body was never going to be small enough and I needed to do everything I could to satisfy that need to be as small as possible. I was obsessed and in those years.. nothing and no one was going to stand in my way. Until luckily I got the help I desperately needed and pulled myself from the grip of the disorder. Lately I’ve been thinking and I feel like I’ve learnt that from those years of HELL I can tackle anything that comes my way. Nothing and no one will stand in my way.. for the right reasons this time. Every single thing I set out to do is to make sure I’m 1% better than I was the day before. In the pictures above I’m happy in both of them. I see a strong woman, either way. Since recovering I’ve been all sorts of numbers on the scales and sizes in clothes and that’s okay. My life doesn’t revolve around that anymore. I gotta say, I’m really proud of the progress I’m making this year though and the changes I can see. The goals have never been purely aesthetic based and with hybrid training I do what I need to do for my body so it can perform how I need it to. Be proud of how far you’ve come and where you’re going 🤍 Your clothing size does not determine your worth or capability.

Consistency is the most important exercise 💪Consistency will outweigh intensity in the long run. I was severely ill for more than a decade, which meant that I couldn’t always do intense workouts or even workout at all. However, every day I did as much as my body would allow me to do that day - even if it was just a 5 min walk. This mindset allowed me to make progress despite difficult circumstances.
