Happy Friday Eve everyone! This week has brought us some amazing new book releases so tell me in the comments what you plan to read this weekend. I’ll probably start Funny Story like everyone else 😆 One of this week’s new releases is FAKE FLAME by @adelebuck_author. This was a super cute, very quick read from a new to me author. The pacing was quick, and I enjoyed that it was told from both POVs and that it changed back and forth a lot - made the book very easy to read. I am generally a sucker for a firefighter hero, and Sean was adorable. Eva’s a great heroine and I absolutely love seeing more books with heroines in their 40s. The third act conflict was realistic to people their age and stage of life, and I appreciated the way it played out. This book had me hooked from the very first page. I like how this book was a very fast-paced romance book. I am also such a huge fan of the fake dating trope so this book was right up my alley. I also really loved Sean he is now one of my book boyfriends. The way that he made Eva feel seen and loved was just so cute. I also really loved that throughout this book Eva really came into her own and learned that she is worthy. This book also had a really cute dog in it. This was book was just everything that I love in a romance book. I also found out this author is local to me and I love supporting local authors. Fake Flame OUT 04/23🔥 I really enjoyed this cute, steamy romcom. It has some of my favorite things like fake dating, age gap, older couple, and dual POV. Eva, a professor and Sean, a firefighter, have an unorthodox meet-cute when he's dispatched to her campus to prevent her from starting a fire. Eva is fed up with her ex, a fellow professor who is literally playing a piano in the quad, as a grand gesture to win her back. After Sean sees how manipulative her ex is, he suggests to Eva that they fake date to deter him. Of course, they develop real feelings real fast! Sean is younger, hot, reads Jane Austen, has a job and friends, is good with animals and kids, and likes pleasing his woman!🥵 He's almost so perfect it's unbelievable. Lol Sean is sincerely invested in Eva's safety. I really appreciated how the story addresses the domestic violence subplot. Except for Eva's naivete. Lol I understand some women can be in denile about the threat their ex poses, but for being so smart, she acted pretty clueless sometimes. I'm glad that she ultimately handles the situation herself in a realistic manner. It was a good resolution. But she's lucky Sean was a first responder and knew what to do to help. I don't usually care for third act break-ups, but this one felt like something that a couple like this would realistically face. I really liked the ending! They are such a cute couple. I hated to see them apart at all. Bo is a strait laced planner so they are complete opposites but of course it works for them, as they both help each other be the best versions of themselves. I was hoping for a little more suspense, and there ended up being none, but there is a lot of action as they venture through the Belizean jungle. This never bothers me personally, but it is a little on the insta love side, as although they go through a lot together, it’s in a short amount of time. Perfect book if you would like to read about others going on a crazy adventure as you lounge at the beach or pool!

Romancing Miss Stone M. C. Vaughn 🌺Release date - June 25, 2024🌺. Let’s just start out with if Harlequin is the publisher you know it’s gonna be a good one. And… this one was just that so so good. My absolute favorite trope is banter (is that even a trope?), but the banter in this one was spot on the FMC Alexandra doesn’t cut the MMC Bo any slack. She is constantly pushing his buttons just to get under his skin and it’s so stinking funny. This one was spicy. For proximity, one tint and one bed. Their chemistry was undeniable, and oh so hot. The book gives Romancing the Stone vibes, but the roles are reversed. (Fun fact, that was one of my favorite movies growing up) It was an incredible action adventure romcom. She decides they should take some time apart as she embarks on an archeological dig in the jungles of Belize. Bo is totally fine with this (he’s not). Not concerned at all (he is). He knows they’re meant to be (or so he thinks). But then the day Destiny is set to return home, Bo is surprised by a breakup. Via text message. From Belize. Bo decides he’s going to win Destiny back by traveling to Belize. In order to navigate the jungle, he hires an expert, Alex. Bo finds Alex annoying, impulsive, and frustratingly gorgeous. Alex finds Bo to be uptight and rigid. But the chemistry between these two is undeniable 🔥 I’m about halfway through this book so far and will be finishing this weekend! It’s one of those books that totally hooked me from the first page. I absolutely love the author’s writing style and the characters are so freaking lovable. Starting right off the bat with Bo’s rescue cat, Lorelei 😻, then his no nonsense twin sister, Delilah, and currently Alex and Bo’s rocky, but adorable relationship. Please heed the trigger warning as there is active grief associated with parental death by cancer as well as depictions of panic attacks. This adventure romance is a perfect pick up for me. I love road trips and traveling so it speaks joyfully to my wanderlust heart. Bo’s staid life is getting wild!
