So, yeah I finished this book instead of the one I said I was currently reading, don't worry I'm actually reading the other one. Anyway let's talk about this one. I loved that cover so I picked it up. I think it's a nice story, sometimes I felt a bit repetitive of the same problem but it was mainly okay. I think it's a nice young adult book about love, friendship, life and family. I liked the story as a whole and the idea, maybe the way it was told wasn't as entertaining as I wanted it to be but maybe a younger reader won't feel like I did. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Always Isn’t Forever by J.C Cervantes 💕 YA Romance 💕 Second Chance (done differently) 💕 Emotional 💕 Multiple POV 💕 Audiobook included on Spotify Premium “For every loss there is a gain and for every gain there is a loss.” When I read that this is about a boy who dies and comes back in another body to be with the girl he loves, I knew I needed to read it. I was a little hesitant because it is YA but trust me it doesn’t matter. The storyline is that good! One of my favorite shows ever is Ghost Whisperer, something similar happens in that show but in a different way and I loved it just the same. I didn’t read the whole synopsis so I’m not sure what it all says. I won’t go into detail so it doesn’t spoil anything. I initially started reading it on my kindle but I found the audiobook on Spotify and it was included in my premium subscription so I switched to that. The audiobook was perfect, there are multiple POVs but it’s super easy to follow. I felt all the feels while reading this one and at one point I was crying. I know this is fiction but I always said if something happens to my husband he better come back to me and make me fall in love with him again. The storyline makes you feel that nothing can stand in the way of love and I’ll forever stay in my fantasy world and believe it. Everything about this plot is so captivating. I know it’s something that could never happen, I just loved feeling like it could while reading this book. It gave me the same feelings as You’ve reached Sam by Dustin Thao. Hart Augusto and Ruby Armenta will always have my heart🫶 💕“Love sort of sucks,” I blurt. “Like, it always ends in goodbye. No matter what. Trologi "The Storm Runner" karya @authorjcervantes ini adalah salah satunya. Setelah seluruh triloginya lengkap yang versi bahasa Inggris, aku langsung ingin membacanya. Mulanya aku ingin menunggu agar ada penerbit yang mau menerjemahkannya ke bahasa Indonesia, dan ternyata ada—@mizanfantasi, tetapi baru buku pertamanya saja. Karena aku yakin tidak bisa menunggu, jadi kubeli yang versi bahasa Inggrisnya saja, hehehe. Secara keseluruhan, trilogi ini bagus dan menyenangkan. Cocok jadi bacaan anak-anak sampai dewasa loh. 🪐🍂Il primo mese del 2024 ormai è giunto al termine e nel corso di queste lunghe giornate ci sono stati dei libri che mi hanno fatto compagnia. Freut ihr euch schon auf die neue Percy Jackson Adaption? Habt ihr vielleicht schon die ersten Folgen geguckt? 🤩 Ich bin richtig gehypt. Höre gerade den grandiosen Podcast "The Newest Olympian" und lese "Rick Riordan presents"-Bücher, wie die Sturmläufer-Trilogie von J. C. Cervantes, in der es um die Maya-Götter geht: "Zane soll den Maya-Gott des Todes befreien? Nur weil irgendso eine olle Prophezeiung das voraussagt? Nie im Leben! Doch dann überschlagen sich die Ereignisse und Zane muss einen Deal mit dem Todesgott eingehen. Es wird schon nicht so schlimm werden ... Oder?!" b o o k • r e v i e w 📚 - the storm runner (the storm runner 1) by j. c. cervantes - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - I didn’t love this but it was still fun. This felt the most Percy Jackson-esque in both story and gods out of all the Rick Riordan Presents imprints I’ve read so far, and I also feel like there were a lot of Harry Potter similarities (besides referring to the bad guy as “You Know Who”). - I like Zane, and I’m kinda indifferent on everyone else but I’ll keep reading. - The writing was quite jumpy throughout, there were a couple times that things were stated as happening/ending that I hadn’t even known had started. That happened at least twice, that I had to go back and reread looking for info that wasn’t there. It took me out of the story as I was confused about what was happening. - I feel like there were some weird and unnecessary descriptions of how people looked, but always the wrong people because I can’t personally remember what any of the main characters is supposed to look like. 💀 - Another complaint I didn’t have until closer to the end was how “what” has been abbreviated to showcase stammering; “wha… wha?” just drove me up. the. WALL!!! Jednak przez początki książki moja niechęć do bohaterki się utrzymywała. Dużo bardziej za to podobały mi się rozdziały z perspektywy Hart'a/Jameson'a. Currently reading The Enchanted Hacienda. This is the kind of light read that I always enjoy, with a female protagonist and a little magic mixed in. I love that the family is based in Mexico and that the main character is Latina. So far, I’m enjoying it.

Happy All Hallows Eve eve! Today I'm carving my pumpkin and preparing for Halloween tomorrow. As one of the prompts for my October reading challenge was to read and eat a Halloween treat, I attempted to make little spider shaped jam turnovers while I read this cool middle grade anthology. I think they turned out okay (and I also made a pumpkin pie for back-up). The Cursed Carnival and Other Calamities by Rick Riordan et al is an anthology of stories by authors in the Rick Riordan Presents imprint, along with Riordan's first Irish mythology-inspired story. This is a fun collection, but I really don't recommend it for people who haven't read the books by the authors, since I don't think any of the stories truly stand alone. I'd also suggest keeping in mind that this anthology was created while some series were still in progress, so some stories in this anthology occur between books in the authors' series. I loved the first story, "Calamity Juice" by Carlos Hernandez, the best. The Sal and Gabi multiverse is very zany and happy. It was also fun that a couple of other stories had brief mentions of Sal. Other standouts were "The Initiation" by Yoon Ha Lee, "The Loneliest Demon" by Sarwat Chadda, and "My Night at the Gifted Carnival" by Graci Kim. The final story showed Riordan's skill at character voice and creating a world through glimpses. Our protagonist has a simplistic view of life, but he also craves companionship. Sure, there's a lot of killing, bad decisions, and rejection for an 8-10 year old, but Riordan leans into the folk tale quality with the way he tells the story. I'm hoping we eventually do get more of Finn. Wróżbiarstwo, tarot, życie po śmierci - to wszystko znajdziecie w „Zawsze nie trwa wiecznie” . ₊☆·੭ Jedyny jej minus to taka wolna akcja, czasem miałam wrażenie, że dzieje się jedno i to samo w kółko. Tak w podsumowaniu myśle, że jest to idealna książka na wyjście z zastoju, mnie osobiście w tym pomogła. Daje jej 4.75/5 ★, ponieważ jednak czegoś mi tutaj brakowało podczas jej czytania. Book review: Tortilla Sun by Jennifer Cervantes Middle Grade Twelve-year old Izzy is sent to live with her Nana for the summer in a village near Albuquerque. While there, she makes new friends, uncovers family secrets, and immerses herself in the culture of the village. She never got to meet her dad because he died before she was born, and her mother rarely speaks about him, but here in the village, she slowly discovers new details about him. There’s a little bit of magic, and a whole lot of the magic I experience in this state - cottonwoods down by the river, fresh, hot tortillas, watermelon sunsets etc. It was SO fun to read a book set where we live, but the story felt a bit scattered and didn’t feel quite pulled together emotionally. Good themes of gradual storytelling, grief and family secrets, but characters felt a bit flat. I would read more from this author, though. ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 Bonus: there is a tortilla recipe at the back!
