We learn to wring magic from the ordinary.’ It’s impossible for me to precisely put into words how these books made me feel. These were astonishing reads that I’ll never forget (but don’t ask me if i can explain the heist I’ll need a reread for that🫢😳). Leigh Bardugo is so incredibly talented. She uses vivid details to describe gritty and treacherous Ketterdam that I actually like I was there. It’s very evident every character was carefully constructed just like their city. A band of misfits where each one has their own difficult past, own ulterior motive and great character development. This story emphasizes how they form strong bonds even if each of them is different to one another. I will forever hold them dear to my heart ❤️‍🩹 The schemes, strategies and unexpected twists made me stay extremely focused and connected to the story. I’ll admit though, it took me a little bit too long to finish Crooked Kingdom because I didn’t want to say goodbye. I hope SoC 3 comes soon enough. ‘No mourners. No funerals. Among them, it passed for good luck.’ Not much to say just the this is one of my favorite duologies of all time. 🐉 Fantasy Freitag 🐉 Hast du mehrere Ausgaben von einem Buch? 🥰 Nach einer längeren Pause bin ich auch mal wieder beim Fantasy Friday dabei. 🥰 Ich hab kaum Bücher in mehreren Ausgaben, weil ich immer gesagt hab, das ist ja das gleiche Buch, wieso sollte ich es mehrmals haben? Irgendwann hab ich mir dann House of Night auf englisch gekauft, weil ich mein Englisch damals verbessern wollte. Danach hab ich ganz lange keine zweiten Ausgaben mehr gekauft. Inzwischen hab ich auch von der Six of Crows Dilogie zwei Ausgaben, einmal auf deutsch und eine englische Schmuckausgabe und ich muss wirklich sagen, seitdem bin ich immer wieder versucht weitere schöne Editionen meiner liebsten Bücher zu kaufen. Ich hätte zB wahnsinnig gerne die Owlcrate Ausgaben von Shadow & Bone gehabt. Die waren nur viel zu schnell ausverkauft.🥲 Auch bin ich momentan am überlegen die neuere Ausgabe von Vampire Academy zu holen, weil ich sie einfach so schön finde! fear nothing, luzia cotado, and you will become greater than then all ——— 🦂 (5/5 ⭐️) i finished this gorgeous book last night and needless to say, leigh bardugo has done it AGAIN. this book was the perfect blend of historical fiction and fantasy, with writing so fresh and enveloping that it was hard to put this book down - to leave the world of Luzia Cotado and her milagritos. i adored the vast blend of characters throughout the book, each with an important role to play, each growing and changing as the book goes on - Valentina was a particular favourite of mine. the last 100 pages of the familiar were a ROLLERCOASTER- at multiple points, i thought i knew where it was going to go, only for another twist in the tale to be magnificently revealed. and that ending - no spoilers but let’s just say it was wonderful. the familiar is a gloriously breathless tale of a girl trying to survive in a world where she has no sanctuary, thriving against all odds, and creating miracles as she goes - it was magical. 🖤

Finally Posting my TLTBU review!💙 Decided to do something different with my reviews and I love the picture so much💙🫶🏼 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 4.5 stars I really really loved this! I couldn’t put the book down at all when I was reading, and I needed too as I had exams🙈 I really liked Andy’s writing style and the characters were great and so loveable, it was fast paced and drew me straight in from the very start. The plot was mixed, at times it felt very character focused but then went to the plot, personally I felt it was the perfect ratio. There was loads of action in the second half of the book and I was really excited to see where the story was going! I seriously cannot wait for the next book to continue the storyline. The characters were so diverse and it wasn’t in a “tick the boxes” way, they felt natural and I really liked how mental disorders and mental health wasn’t a “Taboo” topic in the book and how it was spoken about surrounding Alexis in a proper way that didn’t sound condescending or even childish, I really enjoyed this debut from Andy Darcy Theo and would recommend you all to read it! Inej Ghafa from ‘Six of Crows’ For my version of Inej, I wanted to create a practical ensemble for all of her wraith-ing that also felt personal and adapted by her. Her costume is made from several garments that each feature a different textile technique. Her prints are softer than other characters, showing her trying to keep hold of her morality. “Inej checked her knives, silently reciting their names as she always did when she thought there might be trouble. It was a practical habit, but a comfort, too. The blades were her companions. Kaz Brekker from ‘Six of Crows’ For my version of Kaz, I wanted to keep the harsh tailored lines and black fabrics from the book, and bring in smaller crow prints that are used throughout his costume. Laser cut velvet and flocked wool are used to add texture and dimension. “Kaz Brekker didn’t need a reason. Those were the words whispered on the streets of Ketterdam, in the taverns and coffeehouses, in the dark and bleeding alleys of the pleasure district known as the Barrel. Criminal mastermind Kaz is just as smart and I love him just as much. It’s not even like I loved him despite his dark actions. At one point, he was like, “I murdered a child” and my reaction was just like “you go babe.” 🙃 . Anyways, the second Six of Crows book worked way better than the first. The characters were far better suited to grungy Ketterdam than the Ice Palace, and the layered gang politics, actual politics, and economical schemes were so fun for my brain. Every time I thought I knew what would happen next, I was proven wrong. Even emotionally. All the characters surprised me in the best of ways. . Things get really dark in this sequel, but it’s actually brighter than the first because it isn’t weighed down by everyone’s aggressively traumatic backstories. The past still rises to haunt every character, but I didn’t have to sit through prolonged flashbacks. . I would love to see so much more from these characters. I’d love short stories or even a single novella following their lives and schemes and crimes after the novel ends. Also, I’d love to see Netflix burn to the ground for cancelling the show (and Crows spin off!!)- especially in the same year they cancelled Lockwood & Co. I know I’m late to both these parties but I’m just as bitter as any fan. “Stop punishing yourself for being someone with a heart.” - King of Scars 👑 I went into KoS not really knowing what to expect but assuming it’d be something akin to the classic fantasy feel of Shadow and Bone or the grit of Six of Crows. What I got instead was something surprisingly bizarre and I couldn’t be happier about it. 👑 King of Scars deals with the emotional and political aftermath of SOC and S&B, told from the POVS of Nikolai, Zoya, and Nina (icon). I won’t even try and begin to explain the plot but it gives a very interesting view on what happens after “the end”…essentially showing that there is no such thing. 👑 Leigh’s witty yet emotional dialogue continues to impress me and leave me feeling like I’m in the room with the characters, and her world is beginning to become one of my favorites. "No Mourners. No funerals." ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 Buddy read with @minalreads 🩷 I just finished Six of Crows, and let me tell you, it deserves every single star. I couldn't wait to sit down and write this review because I loved it so much. The characters are absolutely fantastic. Each one felt real and alive, and their interactions kept me glued to the pages. What really got me hooked were the morally grey characters and their found family dynamics. It's rare to find such depth and complexity in a cast of characters, and I found myself rooting for them despite their flaws. And the romance and TENSION? Oh, it had me swooning. The chemistry between certain characters was electric, and I was completely invested in their love story. The banter between the characters was another highlight for me. It was witty, sharp, and had me laughing out loud more times than I can count. By the end of the book, I felt like I was part of their crew, like they were my friends too. Let's talk about world-building. It was phenomenal. The author created such a rich and immersive world that it felt like I was right there alongside the characters, exploring the gritty streets of Ketterdam. And the writing? It was so descriptive, it was like a movie playing in my head. I could picture every scene vividly, and it made the story come alive in a way that few books do. The ending was a rollercoaster. The twists and turns had me on the edge of my seat, and that sort of cliffhanger? It left me REELING. I'm kicking myself for not reading this book sooner, but now that I have, I can't wait to dive into the next one. Six of Crows is a masterpiece, plain and simple. Wydany nie zachowuje wartości." • Szóstka Wron | Leigh Bardugo 🐦‍⬛ pierwszy raz czytałem tę książkę chyba 1,5 roku temu i już wtedy wywarła na mnie wielkie wrażenie. po przeczytaniu jej po raz kolejny wyobraźnia autorki nadal mnie zadziwia i pozostawia w ogromnym szoku. bohaterowie — AAAAAAA — są po prostu niesamowici. przede wszystkim bardzo spodobało mi się to, jak dobrze napisane są postacie żeńskie. kocham inej. kocham ninę. nie wspominając już o kazie, jesperze czy wylanie, którego lepiej poznajemy w 2 tomie. uwielbiam ich wszystkich, z matthiasem włącznie (don't judge me). przez to, że zostali przedstawieni jako nastolatkowie miałem większą możliwość do zżycia się z nimi i zdecydowanie lepiej potrafiłem postawić się w ich sytuacji. nawet jeśli myślałem, że nikt nie wyjdzie z jakiejś akcji żywy, oni zawsze mnie zaskakiwali. podziwiam to, jak dobrze potrafili sobie radzić w najtrudniejszych chwilach i znajdywali rozwiązanie na przeróżne problemy. książka ma wspaniały klimat. jest to powieść fantasy, zdecydowanie różniąca się od innych, które czytałem. nie ma tu elfów czy politycznych potyczek. zagadki, intrygi, układy, tajemnice — to główne określenia tego dzieła. wyspa kerch ma moje serce: mroczne uliczki ketterdamu, porty i kasyna tętniące życiem, to coś co na długo zapadnie mi w pamięci i ciężko będzie mi ponownie zostawić to miejsce na jakiś czas. leigh bardugo stworzyła istne dzieło sztuki, które zarazem jest jedynie literkami na papierze, a także moim domem, do którego przy każdej możliwej okazji uwielbiam wracać. Ce fut clairement un échec, impossible de rentrer dans l’histoire, j’ai pourtant persévéré, mais je n’ai pas été conquise. Il y a peut-être trop de dialogues qui m’empêchent finalement d’imaginer les scènes, l’ambiance et l’environnement. Le livre a été adapté sur Netflix : Shadow and Bones : la saga Grisha. Par contre, j’ai beaucoup aimé. Le souci n’est donc pas l’histoire, mais réellement la narration du livre. Certes, la série n’adapte pas seulement Six of Crows, mais d’autres romans. Je ne vais donc pas continuer avec les autres tomes. • Book Review • "No Mourners, No Funerals" My Rating (for both): ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ As ever, I am late to the party! I got Six of Crows in a book advent calendar and I am soo glad I did! As soon as I finished it I rushed to the book shop to get Crooked Kingdom. Leigh Bardugo has created an incredible world and her writing is phenomenal. What sold me most on this duology was the characters. You truly go on a journey with them both literally and metaphorically. I loved that in Crooked Kingdom we really start getting into the back stories of the Dregs. It was truly difficult to decide which character I loved most. Sometimes with a duology or series you end up confused on the plot line or it's difficult to keep up with characters but I didn't find this at all. I was also worried about Crooked Kingdoms ending but I needn't have been, it was perfect! I've now ordered the 'Shadow and Bone' series and am very excited to get started! "'My ghost won’t associate with your ghost.'"👻 Second ghostie post with my lovely @soulcatcher.cosplay ! Having a bedsheet ghost photoshoot sounded light and easy in the beginning. But it was actually also quite the challenging experience, to be honest! Since the bedsheet had no holes for the eyes and I wasn't able to wear my glasses to see anything in front of my feet anyway, I was completely blind during the experience. Therefore, it required a lot of trust towards our photographer @augen_blick_licht in order to make these shots work! He directed us so wonderfully and made me feel so safe during this rather vulnerable state of being. Even when I had to roll my Cospartner over a parking spot in a shopping cart while I was not able to see where we were heading, Tom just gave me the confidence to go for it and luckily stopped me early enough before I could tip Paula over the curb. 🌦PŘEČTENO ZA DUBEN🌦 . . . . Půlnoční knihovna od Matta Haiga 3,5/5 ⭐ Duben jsem začala s touhle knížkou, která mi ležela na poličce nepřečtená už hodně dlouho. Tak jsem ji zkusila. Noo, bylo to asi takové, jaké jsem to čekala. Bylo to emocionální, hooodně filozofické, velmi odrážející realitu a vcelku fajn. Knížka se četla vážně hodně rychle a doporučila bych ji lidem, co se chtějí nějakým způsobem zamyslet sami nad sebou, nad tím jak žijí svůj život a třeba litují svých minulých "chyb" a mnoho věcí si vyčítají. Mně osobně přišel děj místy nedomyšlený, ale to ze mě možná mluví fantasy reader, kterého baví číst válečné strategie 😆 . Šest vran od Leigh Bardugo 10000000/5 ⭐ Sázka na jistotu. Po druhém čtení jsem zjistila, že se mi Prohnilé město líbí ještě víc než Šest vran. Naprosto. Geniální. V této knize je narozdíl od jejího prvního dílu větší důraz na minulost postav a její dopad v budoucnosti a na pomstu. Láme mi to srdce, směju se, jsem absolutně v šoku, skáču po pokoji radostí a to vše klidně v jedné kapitole. Vůbec se nebojím napsat, že tohle dílo je skutečně Dílo s velkým D. Umění. Jedním z hlavních motivů této série je vlastně i nalezená rodina, kterou každá z postav bolestně potřebovala. Hach, Leigh Bardugos Bücher sind ein Traum. . Schade das ich mich so lange geweigert habe sie zu lesen.🤣 Aber ehrlicherweise, fand ich die Shadow & Bone Trilogie auch nicht so wirklich berauschend. Trotzdem hab ich eindeutig zu lange für ihre anderen Bücher gebraucht, auch für dieses hier! . Es ist mal was ganz anderes, eine Sammlung von Märchen und Geschichten aus den Grishaverse. . 6 Märchen insgesamt, eins aus Novyi Zem, drei aus Ravka und zwei aus Kerch. Ich hätte mir tatsächlich mehr Märchen aus Novyi Zem und Kerch gehabt, da ich diese Länder wesentlich interessanter finde als Ravka. Nichtsdestotrotz lasen sich alle Märchen wirklich gut, ich hatte zwar bei dem ein oder anderen Schwierigkeiten reinzukommen aber als ich dann mal drin war flog ich nur so durch die Seiten. Man merkt aber das es einige Jahre her ist, dass Bardugo die Texte geschrieben hat. Ich fand sie nicht ganz so „raffiniert“ wie ihre neueren Texte, trotzdem waren sie sehr gut geschrieben und hatten einen tollen Erzählstil. . Die sechs Märchen geben einen wunderbaren Einblick in die verschiedenen Länder aus dem Grishaverse. . Noch dazu ist die Aufmachung des Buchs wirklich sehr cool gemacht! Die Illustrationen auf den einzelnen Seiten weiten sich im Lauf der Erzählung mit aus und passen zur Erzählung. Also es fängt mit einer kleine Sache am Rand neben dem Text an und endet in einer wirklich wunderschön ausgearbeiteten Illustrationen. . Diese Märchensammlung ist jetzt kein must-read aber für Leigh Bardugo Fans und Fans vom Grishaverse sicherlich eine klasse Ergänzung zu ihren Grishaverse und Six of Crows Romanen.🤗
