These are my pantry staples, which I like to store in glass jars. They're airtight, food lasts longer stored in airtight glass than its original packaging, they are less likely to be exposed to pests, I can see exactly how much is in them and they look good. Only problem is when you have a deep pantry, you have to put them one in front of the other, and you can't easily see or access what you have. I have now moved these out of my pantry into the draw below and it has been a game changer. I can see everything with ease and I only need to move the jar I am after. If you can't find and access the pantry staples you need, then you're unlikely to use them resulting in costly waste and a tendency to then opt for convenient and usually less nutritional options. If you want to eat healthier, then cooking from scratch and avoiding processed foods is so important. CROHN'S/ ULCERATIVE COLITIS How is your GGUT HEALTH? How we eat not only effects our weight, but also our GUTS! Many of you know that my husband has had Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn's disease since 2007. We had no idea about diet back then. We ate low fat, low nutrient dense foods thinking we were healthy. His body told us otherwise. He has been in remission for years with some flare up, and took daily medication. . He was told to eat HIGH FIBER, lots of grains to help heal his inflamed colon. We have since learned that FIBER is basically razors running through his intestines. Yes, you may go #2 more often, but that doesn't mean it is a good thing. . His previous Colonoscopy was before 2020 and it showed that he had active colitis, moderate severity diverticulitis and hemorrhoids 😮. . His most recent colonoscopy showed NO SIGNS OF COLITIS, NO DIVERTICULITIS, NO HEMORRHOIDS! . I'm grateful that he is willing to eat what I feed him. He typically fasts daily for 16 to 18 hours. Drinks coffee with heavy cream, collagen and monkfruit drops. I feed him high fat, lots of protein, light carb lunch and maybe a dinner of fatty meat and veggies if he doesn't go OMAD. He did a couple CARNIVORE experiments which really helped heal his gut and allowed it to rest. #meatheals . He still eats out, and doesn't go bunless all the time, but makes different choices than before. (Less Subway, more Flying Dutchmen at InNOut). . Overall, his body has responded positively to his LOW FIBER diet. . If your belly aches after a meal, LISTEN to what it is telling you! Apple & Berry Crumble w/ Ice Cream Crumble topping: - Almond Flour - Mixed nuts - Honey Filling: - Mixed berries - Apples - Coconut milk - Chai seeds Ice cream: - Greek yogurt - Milk - Vanilla - Honey Crumble recipe: 1. Cook off the berries and sliced apples on a medium heat for 10mins 2. Add coconut milk and chai seeds and let simmer until apples are soft and the consistency of the sauce is thicker 3. To make the crumble topping, you mix honey with the almond flour so it gets sticky and a few bits clump together. Then add the chopped nuts. 4. Add filling into a tray and spread a layer of crumble on top. 5. Whole food plant based meals 자연식물식 식단 3주동안 2.7kg 빠진 식단 공유해요. All natural clean plant based eating gave me so much more energy, health and mental clarity. Some days, it's hard to continue. My body craves junk food! There are days I don't want to cook, I'd rather order a pizza. Especially after a very long, hard day of work! But this picture reminds me of my why! I want weight loss, no doubt. But I want health more. I have had to look at food as fuel or poison. There is no in between! So when I see the scales not budge for 2wks. I am forced to look at the other results I am getting. Like better blood pressure. Less headaches. More energy and the ability to cross my legs again. Frozen Yogurt Bowl Ingredients: - Greek Yogurt 200g - Chocolate Protein (As much as you want) - Frozen Blueberries 100g - Cocoa Powder 1tab - Coconut Oil 1tbs Other topping: (Optional) *Use as much as you want or switch them out for other things* - Mixed Nuts - Peanut Butter - Coconut - Banana - Cocoa Nibs Method: 1. Hassleback Butternut Squash w/ Tahini Yogurt Hassleback: Butternut Squash 2tbs Olive Oil Goji berries & Hemp seeds (optional) Seasoning: Italian Herbs, Salt & Pepper Tahini Yogurt: 4 tbs Natural or Greek Yogurt 2 tbs Tahini (runny) 1 tbs Maple Syrup Seasoning: Salt & Pepper Method: 1. Preheat the oven to 200c fan 2. Peel Butternut Squash and then make incisions 3. Rub in Olive oil and then add seasoning. Use as much as you like. 4. Place in the oven for 50mins 5. Make Tahini Yogurt by simply adding all ingredients to a bowl and mixing 6. Spread yogurt onto a plate and remove butternut squash from the oven and add on top. 7. Carrot & Apple Crumble I love carrots so I’ve been thinking of ways I can get it into desserts outside of a cake so I thought I would give a crumble a go! Carrot & Apple Mixture: 3 carrots 2 apples 1/4 cup Maple syrup Cinnamon (you choose…I love it so I used loads) Splash Water Crumble: 120g Oats Coconut flour (you can also use almond flour or whey protein powder, if you prefer) Honey Pinch of salt Optional: Nuts (I like to grab a handful and crush them up) Custard: Greek Yogurt Vanilla Protein Choose the serving size depending on the consistency you like. *Disclaimer - Yes, I know It’s not actually custard but it tastes the same so that’s what we’re calling it 😁 1. Preheat over to 190C fan. 2. Peel and grate carrots, then thinly slice the apples. 3. Add the carrot and apples to a saucepan and add the remaining ingredients. Add a spalls h of water and cook on a medium to low heat with the lid on as you want the ingredients to stew. 4. Once the apples are soft, drain most of the liquid and then add to your baking tray. 5. I’m a bowl, mix the oats and almond flour before drizzling on the honey. Use a fork and mix together until it looks like a crumble mixture and then add on to the other carrot/apple mixture. 6. Bake in the oven for 20mins striXly insights - Youre probably it’s a bit weird, but it went down a treat. Sundays are for feasting, so yesterday we tucked into a Beef Brisket with a few sides and it went down a treat. Beef Brisket: 1.4kg Beef Brisket Dijon mustard (1/2 cup) Water (1/4 cup) Seasoning: Paprika (4tbs), Garlic Powder (4tbs), Onion Powder (3tbs), Salt (2tbs), Chilli Powder (1tbs), Cumin (1tbs) Pumpkin: Pumpkin Coconut Oil (2tbs) Seasoning: Cinnamon & Salt Onions: 4 Onions Seasoning: Salt & Pepper Capsicums: 2 capsicum Brown lentils (200g Mushroom (30g) Zucchini (30g) Goats cheese (40g) Seasoning: Salt & Pepper 1. Cover the Brisket in Dijon Mustard and then seasoning. Ideally do this the night before but if you can’t, try and do it least a 2-3 hours before cooking. 2. Preheat the oven at 140c fan. 3. Cover the Pumpkin in coconut oil and then sprinkle on Cinnamon. 4. Prepare Lentil mixture by cooking Brown Lentils (see packet for instructions). While they are cooking, dicing Mushrooms and Zucchini. Once the lentils are done, mix with Mushrooms and Zucchini (uncooked). 5. Cut your Capsicum in half and fill with the Lentil mix. 6. Put your Brisket into an oven tray and add onions and garlic cloves around your Brisket. Pour water around your beef then cover with foil for cooking. 7. Put your Brisket and Pumpkin into the oven at the same time and set the timer for 3.5 hours. 8. After 2 hours, place your Capsicums into the oven. 9. After another 1.5 hours, take the beef out of the oven and let it sit for 20-30mins before cooking. 10. Place your Goats Cheese on your Capsicum and after 15mins, get the rest of your food out of the over. Now you’re ready for your feed… Enjoy! **We also had a side salad so if you want one, throw one together while everything else is cooking. striXly insights - The Brisket was spot on! Tender, great flavour and went well with the rest of the food. Chickpea Pizza Crust We’re always trying alternative pizza crusts and this one is definitely up there. Pizza base: 1 can chickpeas (Drained) 100g Rye Flour 3 Egg Whites (Large) 1 Teaspoon Arrowroot Optional Seasoning: Garlic Powder, Salt & Mixed Herbs Toppings: Whatever you want… Instructions: 1. Preheat oven to 200c Fan 2. Chuck all ingredients into a food processor and blend. The consistency isn’t like dough, more like an extremely thick hummus. If it’s too runny, add a little more flour. 3. Place some baking paper down on a pizza tray or oven tray and spread out the mixture until you have a thin base. 4. Place in the oven for 12-14mins. 5. Once you take it out, add your toppings on, give it another 10mins and you’re good to go! striXly insights - Great taste, crispy and light. Sweet Potato Banana Bread The weekend is here so we have to start with some baking. After a request from OG follower Mrs @sassie.vonborstel , all recipes will now be included. See ⬇️ 2 Bananas 240g Sweet Potato 200g Almond Flour 1/3 cup Coconut Oil 1/3 cup Maple Syrup 2 tsp Vanilla 2 tsp Baking Powder Pinch of Sea Salt Optional: Chocolate chips (you can but them but I made my own with 100% Cocoa Powder & Coconut Oil) 1. Preheat oven to 175C 2. Mash and combine the Bananas and the Sweet Potatoes (remove the skin) 3. Add Coconut Oil and Maple Syrup and mix until well stirred 4. Add Almond Flour, Baking Powder, Vanilla and salt then stir until well combined 5. Fold in Chocolate Chips if you want them in 6. Chuck in the oven for 60mins and done, you’re good to go! striXly insights - good flavour and not too sweet.
