⛸️ Book Review ⛸️ This book was such an easy read, and one that I enjoyed, while it didn’t blow me away I really liked the storyline and enjoyed being lost in it. In this book we have Sadie, she is a figure skater that has an alcoholic father and is working her self ragged trying to bring up her two young brothers while trying to hold on to her scholarship. Sadie is such a strong young lady, she is full of sass and sometimes she comes across as rude but honestly I think she is just drowning in her responsibilities. Next up we have Rhys, he is the hockey captain for the Waterfell university hockey team. He loves hockey, but after a bad accident during a game he is struggling to just get on the ice. Rhys is such a wonderful character, he is a bit grumpy to begin with but we soon work out the reason for that. He is very caring and loyal and will do absolutely anything for those that he loves. He has wonderful parents that absolutely adore him and that shows in the person that he is. If you love ice skating or ice hockey you will enjoy this book, actually even if you don’t love either of those sports I’d say the characters will drag you in. Great fun read with a lovely ending. QOTD: Do you enjoy ice skating? AOTD: I’ve not done it since Lucy was around 8 when a pop up ice rink was here in New Plymouth. Book Review: 4.5/5 stars ⭐️ . Unsteady by Peyton Corinne swept me off my feet and took me by surprise. I usually shy away from Sports romance (the only other sports romance I’ve read is about a made up sport, All for the Game if you know you know), but oh my god this was amazing! Unsteady follows figure skater Sadie and hockey player Rhys as they enter a unique fwb situation while both grappling with mental health issues and their real feelings for each other. I loved Unsteady because it highlighted mental health in both men and women, and Peyton Corinne didn’t romanticize mental health issues in a toxic way some other romance authors have. The mental health issues are a real and messy depiction of what PTSD and anxiety actually look like. I also really loved that neither character used the other as a crutch for their mental health or that a love interest wasn’t their sole motivator for getting better which is a toxic thing I see a lot in other romance novels that depict mental health issues. I really loved all the characters in this book and hope that Peyton Corinne returns to Waterfell so I can read about the other character (I would die for a Bennet book.) This had the right amount of angst and drama and chemistry and I had a great time. Rhys and Sadie were such an interesting match for each other. They had immediate banter and push and pull, both having the wrong first impression. I loved slowly watching these two have undeniable chemistry and also just lean on each other. I read The Four and Throne of Glass within a week and loved them both, then played Stardew Valley for the next two weeks whilst not reading a single page. Since then, I think I've been rather harsh on ratings just because nothing felt as engaged with my reads as I usually feel 😢 I couldn't post my wrap up and not show you the edges of Waterstones edition of Song of the Six Realms though. °•○~♡♡ May Reading List ♡♡~○•° This reading list is a big mixed bag but it's good I swear 🥰 I have books that represent Asian-American authors for AAPI month ❤️ The non-AAPI books are just as good to help me not feel overwhelmed with some of the tragedies in the AAPI books. Her Radiant Curse is the prequel to Six Crimson Cranes (which I absolutely love!) and it follows the story of the step-mom Channi in her younger years. Another fantasy I am excited to read is Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea. It's about a town affected by storms so women are sacrificed to the Sea God. It reminded me of the kdrama Bride of Habaek! The Poppy War and Strike the Zither are physical books I have that I am slowly getting into from my long list of TBR. I am delving into war-adjacent fantasy genre with these two. I am almost done with the Twisted series!! Twisted Lies is the biggest series but I'm excited to finish this so I can jump into her If Love series. Unsteady got a revamp and I love love love the original version. This will be my first read for the new version now that there's some new details and it's her first published book 🫶 This was the first book I read that heavily revolved around mental health representation especially from PTSD. A highly suggested read even if you aren't into sport romances. The Dixon Rule from my fave school, Briar University. Everyone online is raving about this book for the new release and BN needs to ship my pre-order soon! They said the spice is 🥵 I am finally starting the Mile High series especially since I am actively watching the Stanley Cup (go Canes 🌀) The whole series has been on my TBR forever and it's also a mental health representation book! I loved rhys and sadie, the struggles they both face aren’t what they should be facing whilst juggling school and sport and family but they came out stronger when together and it was honestly so beautiful to read about! rhys never gave up on sadie even when she tried to push him away and that was perfect! i just finished Unsteady by Peyton Corinne and this book was EVERYTHING. 💫 Omg. I am literally at a loss for words. The characters, the plot, the love story and RHYS KOTESKIY the man that you are<3 This book was such a sweet and pure story while also shedding light on serious mental health issues like ptsd, social anxiety and panic attacks. If you enjoyed Icebreaker you will definitely love this novel. CAN WE TAKE A MOMENT to talk about Toren Kane?! @peytoncorinneauthor he needs his own book like yesterday…. I WILL ALWAYS eat up the misunderstood isolated hot hockey player plot omg 🤭🫶🏼 I also loved the friends to lovers trope between Sadie and Rhys it made me feel a deeper connection between them and how they loved each other through the pain and heartbreak of their lives. An instant 5🌟 for me. Context: This novel follows Rhys Koteskiy who is a hockey player that is grappling with the aftermath of a hockey accident. He suffers from panic attacks and ptsd while trying to navigate a life back in to hockey. Sadie Brown who finds him in the midst of a panic attack is an ice skater who has had to grow up instantly due to her families disparity. She takes care of her brothers and must take on a maternal role in order to provide for them. Rhys and Sadie first meet when Rhys is helping young kids with learning hockey. Rhys is just getting back on the ice after a pretty bad injury during a game. Sadie is our figure skater who focused on training and taking care of her brothers. One morning Sadie is coming to practice and ends up finding Rhys during a panic attack and tries to help him. From then on they are brought back together and form this deep connection. 🏒✨⛸️ I really loved how Peyton explores not only their relationship but their growth as characters. They both have gone through some tough times and are navigating through the struggles and emotions that come with that. What started as a friendship and supporting each other turned into a strong bond and understanding of each other. They really showed up for each other. I also have to mention the other characters in this book because I ABSOLUTELY love them and can’t wait to see more of them!! Audiobook Review | Unsteady - @peytoncorinneauthor Oh look, its me talking about Unsteady again! I had the pleasure of reading this book as an ARC last year and it was one of my top reads from last year! It was recently re-released as a traditionally published book (YAY!) and now with an audiobook, so it was the perfect excuse to read it for the third time within 6 months. The narrators in the audio absolutely crushed it. @heyitsmaxmeyers and @kelseynavfoster were the PERFECT voices for their characters and captured their personalities so well. I already loved the book the first two times I read it, but having their voices in my head made the experience that much sweeter! The range of voices they did for all the different characters was flawless and I especially have to commend Max-narrator on their Max-dad voice. They got the slight accent down perfectly and I need a whole book of just Max as Max now. This was also my first time listening to either of them as narrators, but I definitely ran to their profiles to add other books they’ve narrated to my audio TBR! The trad published version also has seen a few updates, which were all done so well to add more to the story without changing anything we loved about the first version. A few plot questions were answered and there were a few rewritten scenes (that had me sobbing) along with a whole new chapter at the end! If you already read and loved Unsteady, I highly recommend doing a reread for all the changes! If you are an audiophile or a hockey romance lover, PLEASE read this book. I will not stop gushing about it to everyone, so just read it already. I promise you won’t be disappointed. Peyton Corinne is 💯 an auto-read author for me now. If you're into a spicy, tension filled, slow burn romance with hot hockey players and a talented, independent FMC... PLUS mental health rep... PLUS a sweet sweet golden retriever MMC... then look no further because this novel is everything. No complaints! Could not put it down. This one was equal parts spicy and deep/dark. Itll have you all up in your feels while the two main characters stories develop. I didn't expect so much character development and background story for both of the main characters, generally we see a lot of one side heavier than the other even with dual pov but that's not the case here. What book(s) have you recently hauled in? I blame my mood reader. I 100% blame my mood reader for this post. The sun is out, the weather is warming up, and so my mood reader wants more romance options. So that’s how I ended up getting Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez (a new to me author), Here We Go Again by Alison Cochrun (a beloved author of mine and a book I have the ARC for but ✨life✨ has kept me from diving into it), and Unsteady by Peyton Corinne (tbh this was an impulse buy sponsored by my mood reader being like “yes, sports romance, please!”). Their paths cross when Sadie finds Rhys on the ice having a panic attack. They become friends and he falls hard and fast. Sadie is emotionally unavailable because she’s been having to mother her brothers and also has a domineering figure skating coach. She eventually gives into her feelings for Rhys, but when she tries to run because her home life starts to unravel, Rhys has to show her she doesn’t have to go it alone. Will I ever stop screaming about @peytoncorinneauthor’s Unsteady from the rooftops? Also unlikely. 🩵 It was quite the ordeal trying to get the @atriabooks version of this in Toronto, but the saga finally came to a close when I found a few copies at Indigo in the Eaton Centre! Definitely run don’t walk if you’re thinking of getting a copy for yourself, this is still my favourite book of the year so far and I can’t wait to re-read it…once I get through a bit more of my TBR. 🫣 P.S. shoutout to @olgacree who loosely inspired the pose for my first photo 💕

I managed to read every book on my March TBR post last month, which was super surprising given how demanding my day job has been. So, naturally, I'm just as ambitious for the month of April.
