🍃 o morro dos ventos uivantes, de Emily Brontë (1847) Nossa terceira LC com meu clube de leitura 📖 | “vida sinistra, é desta casa” Um livro que eu não esperava reencontrar tão cedo quando fiz a primeira leitura em 2018. Sabia que algum dia o veria de novo, mas não tão breve; muito menos que o impacto que me causou esta releitura seria tão intenso… uma história que te coloca contra e a favor de literalmente todos os personagens, como se Emily Brontë quisesse que você tentasse jugá-los: “você teria coragem?” conseguiria até ouvi-la dizer. Não vou te contar do que se trata O Morro, talvez você já saiba, mas vou contar sobre esse personagem, Heathcliff, e você tire suas próprias conclusões do que encontrará nesta narrativa. Um homem sem origem que sonha em se vingar de todos, onde sua mão pesará até mesmo naqueles que nem viviam ainda, “vingar-se das próximas gerações” ele poderia ter dito. Queria provar que a “criaturinha morena e cigana”, também teria a chance de ser uma pessoa afortunada e maligna. Ele passa por cima de quem ama e odeia, de quem o encheu de beijos e quem o abusou; seduzirá, fugirá, voltará… um novo homem, nova criatura… provando seu furor a quem tentar cruzar seu caminho. Maltida hora que foi levado à Wuthering Heights, pelo bom moço Sr. Earnshaw. 🪻 Cime tempestose 🪻 [Emily Brontë] 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟/5 Il mio viaggio a Thrushcross Grange e Wuthering Heights è iniziato a gennaio, un po' per caso. Non avevo alte aspettative, dato che nel 2022 ho iniziato Orgoglio e Pregiudizio ed è ancora fermo sul comodino, con un pezzo di carta che tiene il segno a pagina 198. Ho sempre associato, involontariamente, questi due romanzi, ma forse per le traduzioni differenti, per lo stile delle autrici o per il momento in cui ho intrapreso la lettura, posso affermare che in comune hanno solo il tema della denuncia sociale, sviluppato e articolato comunque su due fronti ben distinti. Non ho letto la trama prima di acquistare questo classico, e credo che questo sia stato fondamentale per godermi ogni singola frase perchè non avevo aspettative. La storia di Heathcliff, narrata dalla governante Ellen, è una storia difficile, rude, segnata dalla perdita di Cathy e dalla violenza che contraddistingue il periodo storico dell'800. Ho amato la descrizione e lo sviluppo, positivo e non, di tutti i personaggi. Più volte mi sono trovata in difficoltà ad inquadrarli, a capirli, ma credo sia normale. Almeno apparentemente viviamo in un'altra epoca, che non è detto sia migliore. Cime tempestose fa parte di quei classici che o si amano o si odiano. Bianco o nero, niente grigio. There are some brilliant quotes expressing love and passion. The story is full of passion, ghosts and regrets: very dramatic as I like it. The only problem I have is that almost all characters are highly privileged and act like spoiled children. Heathcliff is just so bitter, it's hard to sympathize with him. 🇨🇵 C'est un classique et même si le début est long, c'est passionnant à lire. Il y a des citations brillantes exprimant la passion et l'amour. L'histoire est pleine de passion, de fantômes et de regrets: très dramatique comme je l'aime. Le seul problème que j'ai est avec les personnages qui, pour la plupart, sont très privilégiés et agissent en enfants gâtés. Book: The Gilded Cage Author: #luisaajones Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “1897. Rosamund bows her head and steps slowly down the aisle. The satin of her gown whispers against the stone floor and a single tear falls into the bunch of yellow roses twisted in her trembling hands. Despite rumours of his cruelty, Rosamund has no choice but to become this man’s second wife.” I normally don’t read historical fiction, but I will read more now. I absolutely loved this book! I loved everything about it from the beautiful cover to the amazing storytelling. It was like I was transported into another time. It’s like Wuthering Heights meets The Bridges of Madison County. There were great characters, some I loved and some I really couldn’t stand such as Phelps and of course, Sir Lucien. What a fitting name! I loved Nelly and Rosamund and how their relationship blossomed. The narrator did an amazing job. The author chose the perfect narrator for this story. She really helped to create the atmosphere. I really loved the romance in here. It was realistic, human and refreshing. I didn’t know there were real romance stories without all the smut. I much prefer ones like this where it mirrors real life more. It was so well written. After reading I just wanted to talk about it with others because I loved it so much! ‘Wuthering Heights’ (1939) is up next in the 𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐲 𝐌𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐧. I’m only assuming this was one version He has seen, seeing as it stars Laurence Olivier, whom Morrissey admires. Merle Oberon stars as Cathy and David Niven as her Husband, Edgar. I was interested to read that this film was shot entirely in Thousand Oaks, California. Also interesting is that Cathy’s no-good brother is named “Hindley”. I’m not a fan of classics, to be honest, and although I knew the storyline I have never read any Brontë. It was ok - I’m not going to gush about it. The best bit was the ending! (And Olivier made for a brooding Heathcliff.) Finalmente li O Morro Dos Ventos Uivantes! Tanto ouvi falar desse clássico e, como sempre acontece quando leio um, foi uma experiência de leitura fantástica! Temos uma história familiar, casamentos e descendentes ao longo de anos de suas vidas, com seus diversos confrontos e problemas interpessoais. Os personagens se amam e se odeiam em igual intensidade, vivendo suas vidas com vinganças e amores. É uma história difícil, sombria e gótica, com uma escrita extremamente melancólica desde seus personagens profundamente depressivos até os totalmente afetados por suas paixões ardentes e avassaladoras. Gostei muito da experiência, foi a segunda irmã Brontë que li. Ambas foram ótimas e muito diferentes uma da outra. Book No.4 Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë Rating: 4 / 5 Coaxed into reading this one, not only by Kate Bush but a blurb that portrayed a simple love story entailing impossible desires, violence and power. Although these topics are touched on in this book, the tale did take me by surprise. With majority of the story being told in second, even third hand accounts, it can make you question the validity of the story and enables you to form your own bias towards certain characters. Emily illudes the reader into thinking the story is solely about Heathcliff’s love for Catherine and his relentless revenge to sober himself from losing her. Yet she moves on to tell another convoluted story of the children across the Heights and neighbouring Grange. I loved the way certain moments or thoughts were described, especially Cathy and Lintons vision of heaven, which was practically pictorial. Although a difficult read at times, I would definitely recommend to people wanting to broaden their horizon in what a book has to offer. My college copy of Wuthering Heights, enjoyed reading it then and reading it now. Brontë's classic novel is a beautifully written, evocative love story.
