Well, there are the MTB posts of course (pinned), but there is always more to tell! * So I was born with benign joint hypermobility syndrome, which was a little b*sh while growing up, but after my teenage years this got way better. * I was a pretty calm kid. Didn't need to be entertained or anything. (Words from my parents, not mine!) * I used to walk around, brabbling, and would suddenly shriek. After that, I would just continue. Made my parents crack up. * My mum used to call me Daffy/Donald Duck, because of my curls. As the sides grew longer, they would curl something resembling a duck's end. * I grew up with German Shepherds and Malinois dogs. * We also used to have Persian cats and that's where my love for these cats came from. * There was this time I was genuinely convinced I could become Jiminy Cricket. Turns out I can't and he's fictional? * My parents always tried to ground me, but forgot I was the one who loved to read in his own room in silence. * I always wanted to go to theatre school. * I remember this cabaret class in high school, where my teacher said: you're pretty good at this. It was a fun class, for sure! * My favorite Disney Princess is and will always be Mulan. * I still sometimes think of that Pokémon card we got at the screening of the first movie. Where did I leave that thing? * My fascination in Greek mythology started at the age of fifteen during a vacation on Crete with my niece, aunt and grandmother. It was the first vacation I went on without my parents. * I never understood why people hated Chikorita back then. It was my favorite Johto starter. * I love playing Smash Bros. Na de aztán felszívtam magam, mondom ez nem is egy vaskos könyv, ne szórakozzunk már, egy ültő helyemben elolvastam a könyv második felét😅😅 A történet alaphangulatát az adja meg, hogy egy pedtis sújtotta helyszínen vagyunk egy olyan hőssel, aki maga is a járvány egyik túlélője. Cassia egy olyan hős, aki BÁRKI szívébe egyből belopja magát, mert kedves és jó, de közben nem negédes, hanem fanyar és higgadt.❤️ Mellé csatlakozik be Lena, aki szintén nem egy tipikua női karakter, hanem nagyon szerethető volt számomra. Imádtam a kis párbeszédeiket, csipkelődéseiket, a közös nyomozást, meg azt a kis érzelmi szálat amit nagyon finoman, épphogy csak jelzésértékűen szőtt köztük a szerző.🥰 A krimi része nekem nagyot ment, tudtam együtt gondolkodni a hősökkel. Találgattam velük a “tettest”, sőt egyébként kellemesen meg is lepett végülis a vége, mert váltig biztos voltam egy megoldásban, de tudott beletenni a szerző egy csavart.🙊 Könnyed fantasy, fiatalabb ès érettebb korosztálynak is, nagyon pörgős, semmi felesleges adalékoldal, nekem nagyon tetszett. Hej! Lubicie malowane brzegi w książkach?😊 🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸 Z książkami, w których pojawia się motyw fantasy ostatnio nie było mi po drodze. Jednak gdy przeczytałam opis "Fallen Princess" poczułam, że muszę zapoznać się z tą historią. Czułam, że to może mi się spodobać. I tak właśnie było. Historia wciągnęła mnie już od pierwszej strony, czytało mi się ją naprawdę dobrze. Główna bohaterka chodzi do szkoły, która ma za zadanie przygotować ją do jej pracy i przyszłych obowiązków. Pochodząca z uważanej rodziny dziewczyna już od najmłodszych lat miała zaplanowane to, kim będzie. Jednak los chce inaczej i krzyżuje plany, sprawiając tym, że wszyscy są w szoku. W dniu, gdy przewiduje ona śmierć kolegi staje się jasne, że nie odziedziczy daru uzdrawiania po matce. Zostaje ona przeniesiona do innej części szkoły, gdzie jej mentorem zostaje chłopak, który potrafi wyrwać duszę z człowieka. Ma on pomóc dziewczynie oswoić się z nową sytuacją, jednak nie może ona się pogodzić z wydarzeniami dni poprzednich. Wtedy zauważa, że osoby z akademii skrywają różne tajemnice. Również Dylan, który przestaje być jej obojętny. Jak to wszystko się potoczy? Wszystko według mnie dobrze się tutaj łączy, dając nam historię, która po prostu wciąga. Klimat akademii, magicznych mocy, wszystkich tajemnic sprawia, że chce się ją czytać, by dowiedzieć się co wydarzy się dalej. Byłam naprawdę zaciekawiona tymi wszystkimi wydarzeniami, do końca nie wiedząc co będzie dalej. Zakończenie bardzo mnie zaskoczyło, nie spodziewałam się zupełnie wydarzeń, które miały tam miejsce. Całość składa się na naprawdę dobrą historię, przy której nie zwraca się uwagi na upływ czasu, a która daje naprawdę wiele emocji. Sama jestem zaskoczona faktem, że w końcu jakaś książka fantastyczna tak bardzo mnie wciągnęła. Beaucoup d'actions dans le l'histoire, une enquête dans lequel j'étais plonger très rapidement. Il y a une petite romance mais qui n'est pas prédominante, ça mets une petite douche d'amour entre les combat. Ce qu'a vécu Rune dans son passé est dur. L'histoire est fluide et l'auteur a fait en sorte qu'on se plonge dans l'univers très rapidement. L'histoire est très originale avec les sceaux, les arcanes, les hauts descendants, des ennemis plus dangereux les uns que les autres. La puissance qui se dégage lors des combats est addictive. Book Review: Mrs. Lincoln’s Dressmaker (Rating 4/5) It was fascinating to hear Jennifer Chiaverini discuss her book, “Mrs. Lincoln’s Dressmaker”. This slice of history is told from the viewpoint of Elizabeth Keckley, the dressmaker of President Lincoln’s wife, Mary Todd Lincoln. I listened to the audiobook narrated by Christina Moore. Elizabeth Keckley purchased her and her son’s freedom from slavery and moved to Washington, D.C. where she established a business as a dressmaker. Her skills were sought after by many, and Elizabeth became Mary Lincoln’s dressmaker, as well as her friend and confidant. The story follows Elizabeth through the onset of the Civil War to its end. Included are President Lincoln’s assassination, and the fate of Mary and Elizabeth in the aftermath. The author relied heavily on a memoir that Elizabeth Keckley wrote about her experiences during the Civil War and her friendship with Mrs. Lincoln. She also included notes about material she interjected into the story when no historical information was available. I was riveted to the first half of the book. The story slowed in the middle when many Civil War battles were detailed and less was written about Elizabeth’s experiences. I was also surprised at how little was included about the assassination of President Lincoln. Compared to the inclusion of war time events, the lack of focus on the assassination surprised me. I’m glad the author included the final outcomes for Mary Lincoln and Elizabeth Keckley. Even though I learned more about the Civil War and the human stories within it, I’m curious to read the original material written by Elizabeth Keckley. Pictured is the quilt that Elizabeth Keckley made from materials left over from sewing Mrs. Lincoln’s dresses. Annak ellenére, hogy milyen fontos neki az iskola, ezt kevésbé lehetett érzékelni, mert állandóan fejjel ment a falnak. Szinte kísértette a szerencséjét. A gyilkos kiléte számomra nagyon hamar lelepleződött, így inkább az hajtott előre, hogy kíváncsi voltam, végül mi történik Williammel és Elizabethel. William nem tévesztett meg, azonnal éreztem, hogy játszik, hogy minden cselekedete, mondata jól megfontolt, hogy mindent okkal tesz, így a vége sem döbbentett meg igazán, mégis úgy érzem, hogy akarom a folytatást! Vannak részletek, amik kicsit valótlanul hatottak, a szereplők fiatal kora, a gyilkosságért ítélt időtartam, de mindezt figyelmen kívül tudtam tartani, mert érdekelt, hogy mi lesz a végjáték. Remélem, hogy lesz folytatás, mert kíváncsi lennék a miértekre… És azt hadd említsem meg, hogy eszméletlen a könyv kidolgozottsága, a fekete lapok, a több nézőpontos betekintés, az illusztrációk! Jane individua ben presto un nesso tra l' orripilante rituale del serial killer, denominato "il chirurgo" per la sua conoscenza delle tecniche operatorie, e quello di un assassino che anni prima, a Savannah, aveva violentato, seviziato e ucciso diverse donne. Jane scopre anche che l'ultima vittima del killer di Savannah è riuscita a sfuggirgli e a ucciderlo e che, dopo il fatto, si è trasferita proprio a Boston, dove lavora come chirurgo. Opinione personale: Non male, finalmente una storia abbastanza interessante, anche se, la trama non spicca di originalità, una fitta tensione mi ha accompagnato nella lettura e per un thriller è senz’altro una nota positiva, i dettagli spesso raccapriccianti hanno donato al romanzo un filone horror. Ostatnio natomiast czytałam "Dzień zero" i dziś zapraszam na kilka słów o tej książce ⬇️ Książki autorki zawsze biorę w ciemno, jeżeli chodzi o zaspokojenie moich literackich kubków smakowych. Ruth Ware nawet dla doświadczonego czytelnika thrillerów jest w stanie przygotować coś świeżego, nieoczywistego i zaskakującego. Tak było i tym razem. "Dzień zero" traktuje o niebezpieczeństwie w sieci; wyprzedza myśl technologiczną, a jednocześnie kotwiczy w życiu zwykłej kobiety, szczęśliwej mężatki. Ta równowaga pozwala zachować nutę niepokoju, która trwa przez całą powieść, a jednocześnie autorka doskonale oddaje emocje, jakie targają człowiekiem po stracie krewnego. Jack zajmuje się wraz z mężem testowaniem zabezpieczeń firmy. Kontroli podlegają alarmy, oprogramowania, sieci komputerowe, drzwi z kartami dostępu lub z kodem oraz tak przyziemne kwestie, jak postać ochroniarzy. Ware tonuje emocje, sączy niepokojące wydarzenia nieustannie, a z drugiej strony pięknie i bardzo realistycznie opisuje ból po stracie, z którym można się utożsamić. Zakończenie, oczywiście według mnie, jest nieco przereklamowane, winny nie zaskakuje (bo można to już zauważyć na dość wczesnym etapie) i trąci słabym chwytem, ale i tak spędziłam z książką dobre chwile.

Apenas te das cuenta que pasas de uno a otro y eso es algo que me encanta porque es imposible que se te haga pesado. 2- Me encantan sus personajes principales y los secundarios más de lo mismo. Maya y Julio son la leche, tan naturales como la vida misma y te hacen reír casi todo el tiempo. Pero también tienen sus momentos que te harán llorar. 3- Para mí ha sido una historia que ha merecido la pena leer de principio a fin. Te hacer llorar de risa, te hace llorar de pena y te hace llorar de felicidad. Two weeks later and I am still thinking about Ahmad and Fa’iza in “Broken Not a Halal Love Story” by Fatima Bala. Fatima Bala is one of those Nigerian authors I will be purchasing her book with no questions asked( When I tell you that Fatima Bala ate!! She ate & left no crumbs writing this book). At some point I had to stop reading and go search her on ig 😀😀. Broken is a fascinating story of Ahmad and Fa’iza, how they navigate the challenges facing their relationship. To be honest,I didn’t see how Ahmed and Fa’iza were going to work out, considering how difficult their situation is , but it safe to say, they really surprised me. •I love how relatable the book is especially the Hausa language in between. • I love how it depicts our shortcomings in humans, and how we deal with our choices in love. • I love how as humans we try to make efforts to be better for ourselves and the ones who meant a lot to us. • I love how Ahmed loves Fa’iza and fought for their love.
