Just finished this ARC, Bitter is the Heart by Mina Hardy. Review below 👇 This story follows a chilling and disturbing relationship between a mother and daughter. Tamar left home at eighteen after suffering years of abuse from her mother. She has now returned and has found herself in a situation where she is left to care for her mother, now frail and elderly. However, creepy things start to happen... This book was very slow begin with and took a long time to build. Personally I found it a little too slow and was left wanting a little more horror, as it was quite reserved. This book was more based around generational abuse and the relationship between mother and daughter, with a bit of horror thrown in at the end. Although I was left wanting a little more, I really enjoyed the storyline and the last 50 pages were brilliant and really kept me engaged! However, as for the rest of the book it was a little to slow paced for me. #netgalley #bitteristheheart #minahardy #crookedlanebooks #arc #kindle #kindlereads #bookreview #bookrecommendations #bookstagram #bookstgrammer #bookblogger #goodreads #goodreadsreview #arcreader

Thank you Crooked Lane Books and Net Galley for this eARC of Bitter is the Heart by Mina Hardy. This story evolves around main character Tamar Glass. Tamar left home as soon as she turned 18 in order to escape from her abusive, childhood home. As luck (or lack of luck) would have it, decades later, she’s back in her home state and thrust into taking in the very person she’d run away from - her mother. Her mother is elderly at this point, and her health is declining. As Tamar grapples with her suppressed childhood trauma, strange things start to occur in both Tamar’s life and home. I really, really enjoyed this read! this is the first book that I’ve ready by Mina Hardy, but I will definitely need to check out some more of her books after this wild ride! . . . #bitteristheheart #crookedlanebooks #netgalley #minahardy #bookreview #earc #arc #serareads #horrorbooks #horrorbookstagram #bookaholic #readersofinstagram #bookish #bookishlove #girlswhoread

Like A Mother by Mina Hardy Thank you for the ALC @netgalley and @dreamscapemedia~ Available Now To say I devoured this book is an understatement. I could not stop listening to this one. If you like psychological thrillers with twists that keep coming be sure to check this one out. Sarah seemed to have it all, the perfect husband, a sweet little girl and a baby on the way. When her husband Adam dies, all his secrets start to unravel. There are several parts in this story that never really got wrapped up for me. The more I think about them, the more they bother me. This book had my attention the whole time, so for that I give it 3.5 stars, but can’t quite get past the holes in the story line to give it more. ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 • #bookstagram #readingonsunset #reading #likeamother #minahardy #netgalley #dreamscapemedia

This book is a wild ride. Though at first it seems clear who the villain is in the situation, turns out there’s more to it than meets the eye. What a twisted tale. I never would’ve guessed the twist. And this book definitely have some twisted characters in it. Synopsis: She’s lost her best friend, her husband—and possibly, her mind. Five months ago, an accident left Diana Sparrow badly injured and missing a few months of her memory. As if that’s not enough, she’s started having recurring nightmares about the night of the accident. Dreams that feel so real, she’s left questioning: maybe she didn’t just slide off the road into a ditch. Maybe, just maybe, she hit something. Or someone. She can’t turn to her former best friend Val, who’s been sleeping with Diana’s husband Jonathan for months, but she might find some comfort in newcomer Cole Pelham. Yet the closer they become, the more Diana begins to wonder what really happened that night—and how Cole might be connected. Worse, it seems everyone else could be involved, too. Who was with her that night? What really happened? As her life unravels thread by thread and the dreams become too real to ignore, Diana will have to face the unthinkable—and do the unforgivable. #bookstagram #minahardy

Qotd: are you close to your parents? ⭐ This book has been described as suspense. And while there were some surprising events in this book, there was no tension. It literally made me feel so apathetic. I didn't even try to guess what was going to happen because I literally couldn't care less It felt like the author had multiple ideas for this book and just decided to merge everything. This resulted in a lot of questions and not good enough answers. When the twists were revealed, it felt very rushed and underwhelming There's also the religious fanaticism in this book, which got old very fast. The characters were not very well fleshed out. They felt like puppets doing the author's bidding, rather than what an actual human being would do. And while I did like the narrator, her voice for Ellie, the MC's child was very grating. Sarah and Adam Granatt had the perfect suburban life: a beautiful house, an adorable daughter, a baby on the way, and a once-in-a-lifetime love. They were the couple everyone envied until Adam died. In the wake of his death, Adam's secrets begin to emerge. The first comes out when a woman named Candace introduces herself to Sarah as Adam's mother. Adam had always said his mother was dead, so either Adam was lying to her, or this woman is not who she says she is. Candace proves that Adam was her son, but she admits that her relationship with her son was strained. But she's still Sarah's mother-in-law, and she's here to help. Struggling with finances after Adam's death, Sarah agrees to move in with Candace and to accept her help with her toddler and her pregnancy. Living in Adam's childhood home, Sarah begins to understand the life he had before they met - the life he buried along with his relationship with his mother. When Sarah notices Candace's strange obsession with her pregnancy, and the house begins to feel less like salvation and more like a cage, she realises that Candace might not be the caring mother-in-law she seems. Maybe Adam had good reason to pretend that his mother was dead. #likeamother #minahardy # bookstagram

✨BOOK REVIEW✨   Synopsis: Sarah and Adam Granatt had the perfect suburban life: a beautiful house, an adorable daughter, a baby on the way, and a once-in-a-lifetime love. They were the couple everyone envied–until Adam died. In the wake of his death, Adam’s secrets begin to emerge. The first comes out when a woman named Candace introduces herself to Sarah as Adam’s mother. Sarah is rightfully confused: Adam had always said his mother was dead. Adam also lied about making sure Sarah, Ellie, and the new baby would be taken care of, financially. The truth is, there’s no money. Candace proves she is who she says, but admits the relationship between her and Adam was strained. Her beloved son is gone, but she can offer emotional support and better yet, a place to stay until after the baby is born and Sarah can get back on her feet. Living in Adam’s childhood home, Sarah begins to understand the life he had before they met–the life he buried along with his relationship with his mother. When Sarah notices Candace’s strange obsession with her, and the house begins to feel less like salvation and more like a cage, she realizes that the secrets go deeper than she ever could’ve imagined. Candace might not be the caring mother-in-law she seems... My Thoughts: Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 I enjoyed listening to LIKE A MOTHER. Sarah went through quite a nightmare when her husband Adam died. Candice was a horrible person and I knew she would be from the start. This is a clever story filled with so many secrets. Like a mother by Mina Hardy 🎧 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 Like a Mother was a surprise read, I was just scrolling. Thought the title was good and thought why not. I'm so glad I did. The twist lurking in every chapter was fan-freakin- tastic. This thriller had some religion entwined into the story. But I'd classify it as a domestic thriller. As you all know I EAT THOSE UP! Can you imagine being married to a man, Who has told you nothing but lies since you met him? Suddenly he's taken from you and in the wake of his death you meet the mother he told you was passed on. This book had all my psychological thriller lover juices flowing. I highly suggest this if you're looking for an intense brain scratcher. #qotd What's the silliest lie you've told to someone? #Libby #libbyapp #Hoopla #hooplaapp #library #locallibrary #timberlandlibrary #audiobook #bookreviewers #review #likeamother #minahardy #author #reading #phychologicalthriller #domesticthriller #religiousthriller #religion

📖Book Review📖 Sarah Granatt just lost the love of her life, Adam, the father of her daughter and their unborn child. Now as she is coping with his death, secrets of Adams begin to emerge. His mother, whom Sarah was told was long dead, shows up. Also life insurance that Adam promised would be there to support Sarah and the kids after his death is no longer there. Sarah takes Adams mother, Candace up on her offer to take care of her and her daughter until the baby is born but when she gets there she notices weird things and realizes the reason Adam left home and cut off contact with his parents. This is the first book I’ve read by Author Mina Hardy but I really enjoyed the storyline and her writing. Short chapters, with a good amount of twists. I did see a couple of the twists coming but the ending was great and unexpected. This book does have a lot of religious themes to it which may not appeal to everyone, but overall I gave it 4 stars. #bookreview #likeamother #minahardy #booksbooksbooks #books #bookstagram #booklover #audiobooks #audiobookstagram #whatareyoureading #whatamireading #ilovebooks #readmorebooks #letsread #booksaremylife #readersgonnaread #letsreadbooks

🍀BOOK REVIEW🍀 Like a Mother by Mina Hardy ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 ➡️THOUGHTS: This book felt dark and ominous, but not in a supernatural way. In a vindictive kind of way. I felt so bad for everything happening to Sarah after her husband died. Their friends trying to take her unborn baby from her, amongst other things. There was a battle between judaism and christianity between our two main characters throughout. This was more of a suspenseful drama until the last 15-20% or so, when it became a thriller and someone was fighting for her life. There was lies, deceit, sorrow, and gaslighting in this one! It was great! ➡️PREDICTIVE TEXT: She was like a mother until….. #bookstagrammer #bookstagram #bibliophile #igreads #currentlyreading #bookreview #instaread #lovetoread #booksarelife #readingisfundamental #whatimreading #bookreviewer #bookaddicts #bookpost #tbrpile #justread #bookishphotography #whattoreadnext #readallday #bookworms #booksofinstagrams #bookwormproblems #bookaholic #bookpic #newreads #likeamother #minahardy

💫🤱𝓑𝓸𝓸𝓴 𝓡𝓮𝓿𝓲𝓮𝔀🤱💫 Like A Mother was an intense psychological ride. At first I wasn’t sure about it, but the more the story progressed the more I was invested. It was very fast paced and kept me intrigued, I needed to know the outcome. This story is so much more than a thriller, there was some messed up stuff. Also, be aware there is a lot of battle between the 2 FMC regarding Judaism and Christianity. I am usually not for religion being a main focus but the author made it work. There were so many secrets, lies and wtf moments which is what I loved the most. I thought the story was skillfully constructed, the twists were great. I would've just liked a little more questions answered at the end. People who enjoy a good fast paced psychological thriller will definitely be a fan of this one. 🎧 The narration by Gail Shalan was truly good. She had a tone to her voice that made everything so eerie and chilling. She was great at voicing the different characters and portraying the emotions. Like A Mother Mina Hardy ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ What in the world did I just read!! This book was such a wild ride!! Wow this was so good!! This starts quickly and just snowballs from there. I found myself several times being horrified by characters behaviors and the audacity they had to do the things they did! I am so glad this mother stuck to her guns and didn’t give in to everything happening around her. I am not sure what to say about this novel without giving too much away! Like a Mother by Mina Hardy The blurb on the cover says “deliciously sinister” and that is honestly a spot on description. This book was such a fun and wild ride! Was it believable? Not at all. But was it the most entertaining thriller I’ve read in a while? YEP. When a Sarah, young and expecting mother’s husband passes away, a woman she’s never met shows up at the funeral claiming to be her deceased husband’s mother. The weird thing is, he told her his mother was dead. Trying to get her life back together after losing her husband, Sarah gets closer to her newfound mother-in-law, but can she trust her? Buckle up. 😅 This book had me on the edge of my seat and literally gasping aloud at the twists and turns in this dark, twisted story. I binged this book in a day and absolutely loved it. Definitely pick this one up if you are looking for a wild story that goes down easy and flies by! What’s the last thriller you read that you couldn’t put down? Reading Between the Wines book review #12/130 for 2024: Rating: 4 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 Book: Like A Mother Author: Mina Hardy Available now! Sipping thoughts: So many secrets and lies that I did not know who was telling the truth even when it was right in my face. Sarah thought she had a perfect life with her husband Adam and daughter Ellie. After Adam dies, she realizes her whole marriage and life was based off of years of lies and deceit. I thought I knew where the story was going but it really threw me for a loop. I haven’t read a Hardy book since After All I’ve Done in in 2020 which had my mind blown and received 5 stars. When Sarah’s husband dies, she discovers he’s basically disinherited her, lied about his “dead” mother and promised their children to another family I cannot imagine how I’d feel upon discovering my dead spouse had betrayed me so deeply! I felt such empathy for Sarah and could hardly bare to see what more lies and struggles lay ahead Her decisions make sense but she clearly hasn’t read many thrillers herself, because being stuck in a house in the woods with no WiFi is a horror movie waiting to happen! The book is fast paced and builds in tension, the red flags coming thick and fast - mother-in-law Candace is clearly one sandwich short of a picnic!! I’ve been reading thrillers for many years, decades in fact and this is literally the first time I’ve felt represented! I’m Jewish and Sarah is the first Jewish character I’ve come across. Judaism isn’t just a religion, it’s a culture, that I think a lot of people don’t appreciate. I’m currently non practicing, but being Jewish is a huge part of my identity. Never having been represented in a thriller is actually really sad and I’m truly grateful to author Mina Hardy (Megan Hart) Note, this book is not about Judaism, (but it definitely touches on some unfortunate fringes of Christianity) The ending seemed a bit haphazard and the resolution, kind of abrupt. I prefer fully fleshed out scenes where conversations cover the conclusion, rather than a reflection of what happened, however I was satisfied with the ending and resolution Audiobook narrator Gail Shalan was fantastic as all the characters, especially Candace, the MIL from hell! Actually I did cringe when she voiced the toddler Ellie - is any child that shrill?!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️ The story centers on the fascinating lives of church cult communities. The main character distances himself from the community, but after his passing, his family ends up in his hometown under the influence of his mother, who has a vicious plan in mind. Overall, the story maintains a good pace. However, one part of the story leaves me puzzled. Adam's friend, whom he considers family, tries to cheat Sarah out of her husband's money, which is rightfully hers. The explanation for this is unclear, and I was hoping for a twist at the end of the novel that would provide a satisfactory explanation. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case. The cult part of the story is intriguing, especially considering the numerous stories in the news in recent years. Despite this, the story lacks the suspense that I expected. Nonetheless, it is a quick and light read that offers a glimpse into the world of cult communities. Thank you, @NetGalley, for giving me the opportunity to read and review an advanced copy of the novel. All thoughts are my own. This had me hooked immediately! Several layers deep of mystery and intrigue and build up throughout with each character. @grshalan absolutely killed it on audio and brought Sarah to life. Many thanks to @NetGalley @dreamscape_media @crookedlanebooks for gifting me an audio ARC of the new book by @minahardywrites, and perfectly narrated by @grshalan - 4 🌟! Sarah and Adam were the perfect couple, with a young daughter and baby on the way. Then Adam died from a rare form of leukemia. Besides being grief-stricken, things suddenly take a dark turn. Adam’s best friend and business partner, Graham, and his wife, suddenly become too interested in Sarah’s children. And the financial cushion they planned for was suddenly gone. Then enter Candice, who claims to be Adam’s mother, although Adam said she was dead. Desperate and scared, Sarah accepts Candice’s offer to live with her until she can have her baby and get settled. I really enjoyed this fast-paced thriller. It almost had gothic, creepy vibes with religious fanaticism in the mix as well. There were so many secrets that Adam was keeping that Sarah can’t begin to wrap her head around them. Plus, she mistrusts everyone and their intentions. The audio was fantastic - this is the second book I’ve listened to this week narrated by Gail Shalan and she does a wonderful job with all the voices. 🎧 A L C • R E V I E W 🎧 •  Title: Like A Mother Author: Mina Hardy Rating: 4/5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ •  Swipe for synopsis. •  Like A Mother is told in a single POV following Sarah as she takes on life after her husbands death. I really liked this one. Listen, I was rolling my eyes at all of the stupid decision Sarah made and at how she even allowed someone to tell her how to raise her child (don’t get me started). I didn’t trust any of the characters, rightfully so, they were all sketchy as hell. • I’m not even going to sit here and lie and pretend like I wasn’t positive that I knew how this was going to unfold to end up with complete whiplash at all of those twists thrown at you one after the other from about midway point until the end. Like A Mother is fast paced and hooks you right from the start. It’s a quick read and will have you second guessing exactly who you will let touch your children. Highly recommending this one to all my domestic/psychological thriller friends. • I listened to this one via audiobook and another Gail Shalan knocked this one out of the park. I am really vibing with her narrations recently. She did such a great job at portraying the fear and panic in Sarah but also the crazy in everyone else. Definitely check out this audio! • Like A Mother releases on 2/6, be sure to check this one out!! Huge thank you to @netgalley @minahardywrites and @dreamscape_media for the ALC in exchange for my honest review. • Do you handle people telling you how to raise your child well? 👶🤰Book Review: Title: Like A Mother Author: Mina Hardy Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/4 stars If you're looking to start off the new year with a thriller that has lots of twists, then grab this one releasing in February! I don't believe I've ever read any of these authors' other books, so I'm adding them to my #tbrstack! Sarah Morgan has just lost her husband and father of her children, Adam. In the aftermath of his passing, she soon learns that Adam kept many secrets from her, but not necessarily for deceitful reasons. He was keeping things from her to protect her and their children. After the funeral, Candace shows up who claims she is Adam's mother. Adam had told Sarah that his mother had passed. Adam's best friend/business partner, Graham and his wife, Ava, are revealing themselves to not have Sarah's best interests in mind. Somehow, Graham has wound up with all of Adam's money that should have gone to Sarah naturally. Candace jumps in to save the day by offering Sarah, her daughter Ellie, and her unborn baby a place to stay until they can get back on their feet. Worst decision ever! Secrets are revealed, and there are some major twists that made my mouth drop! I enjoyed this thriller! Very suspenseful! 𝐋𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐚 𝐌𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 by Mina Harding. Thanks to @crookedlanebooks for the gifted Arc ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⁣ ⁣ Sarah and Adam have the perfect life until he dies. Sarah thought he had their future set up, especially for their unborn child, but there’s no money. A stranger comes and introduces herself as Adam’s mother, who Sarah was told was dead. ⁣ ⁣ This was a fast read that I couldn’t put down. I finished it in one day. It’s very entertaining and fast paced. It’s one of those stories that you are so frustrated for the character and the nonsense she is putting up with. There’s a lot of religious controversy; in-laws and small town community not understanding one who is not Christian, which I’ve experienced first hand… so frustrating but real. ⁣ ⁣ “𝘕𝘰 𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘰𝘯𝘦, 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘬𝘦𝘦𝘱 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘴.”⁣ ⁣ Like a Mother comes out 2/6. ⁣ ⁣ Qotd: What do you do for New Year’s Eve? I have a party for the kids. That ends around 9-10 and then we stay up to watch the ball drop just my family. ⁣ ⁣ #likeamother #likeamotherbook #minahardy #minahardybooks #minahardyauthor #crookedlanebooks #crookedlanepublishing #crookedlanepress #igreads #currentlyreading #bookreview #instaread #lovetoread #booksarelife #readingisfundamental #whatimreading #bookreviewer #bookaddicts #bookpost #tbrpile #justread #bookishphotography #whattoreadnext #readallday #bookworms #booksofinstagram #bookwormproblems #thrillerbooks #thrillerreads #suspensebooks

BOOK REVIEW . Amnesia is one of those tropes that I absolutely loathe but somehow I constantly find myself always reading them. Five months ago Diana was in an accident, which has caused her to lose months of memories. Ever since the accident, she finds herself having these horrific nightmares that she is convinced are real. She can't trust her mind, but also can't trust her husband or her bestfriend, so what is she to do? Wowza, although I said I loathe Amnesia tropes this one may be the one exception. Yes, some of it was predictable (as with most Amnesia tropes) however, there was alot of it that I didn't predict. This is one of those reads that you cannot trust ANYONE, not even yourself. The ending was quick but also one I really didn't see coming. This is one you're either going to love or hate because it's so out there BUT it's one I ended up LOVING.★★★★★ Do you like to reread thrillers? 🏷 #afterallivedone #minahardy #thrillerbooks #thrillerbookstagram #psychologicalthrillers #psychologicalsuspense #reesesbookclub #booksonbooks #readersofinstagram #booktok #suspensebooks #bookaholic #readcrimefiction #bookdragons #booksparks #bookshark #bookreview #bookstagram #bookblogger #reader  #bookphotography #explorerpage #books #booklover

📚Book Review: After All I’ve Done by Mina Hardy ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Hmmm. After All I’ve Done had such promise. Starting off with a gripping tale of domestic suspense where the facts were perfectly hidden, I found myself spellbound. It, in fact, reminded me just a little of something B.A. Paris would’ve written. After all, it was stuffed full of delicious potential gaslighting, an unreliable narrator, and secrets for days. That was, however, until the climax. But I’ll get to that in a minute. Still looking at the positives, I found it wonderfully dark and twisted. From the confused amnesiac to her overbearing mother-in-law, each character offered me something I loved. Well, all except Jonathan, that is. He just didn’t do a thing for me, which left me struggling with how two women could possibly want him so badly. I was also intrigued by the near lifelong friendship between Diana and Val. With each glimpse into their past, I wanted to learn more. Unfortunately, that’s one spot where I think Hardy missed the mark as she didn’t explore their history in nearly enough detail. If only she’d given a tad more attention to the character’s backstories and developed them further… Well, perhaps even that could not have saved this one. Now for the bad news. The climax was the beginning of the end for me. Served up at the very last minute, it came too fast and hard as well as being altogether waaay too OTT. And the great revelation? Decidedly vomit inducing. On top of that, sadly, the multiple POVs were like a constantly revolving door. Instead of sticking with just one perspective for a scene, we were forced to endure seeing it from almost every side. In addition to being irritating, it was also rather repetitive and got on my last nerve. All said and done, while I did enjoy the majority of this novel, the conclusion utterly ruined it for me. I do have to give it to Hardy, though, considering that the slow burn bulk of this suspenseful tale kept me guessing. Ultimately, this was a mixed bag for me and I’m not sure whether I recommend it. In the end, if none of my triggers pose a problem for you, then maybe give this one a go. Rating of 3 stars. ⁉️QOTD: Do you reread books?

✌🏻Two new-to-me authors whose books I can’t wait to dive into! Help me welcome Mina Hardy and Charlie Donlea to my TBR! Crossing my fingers that these are both winners for me. 💭 After All I’ve Done by Mina Hardy Five months ago, a young woman had a horrendous accident that left her injured and with no memory of her recent past. Making matters worse, as she recovers she begins having nightmares about the accident, revealing possible memories of hitting something. Or someone. Unfortunately, she can’t turn to her best friend for help as she’s sleeping with her boyfriend, but she finds a new stranger who just might be the perfect support system. But the closer she becomes to him, the more she begins to wonder what really happened that day and whether he was involved. Are the dreams she’s having trying to tell her something, or is she losing her mind? 👀 Those Empty Eyes by Charlie Donlea A teenage girl falsely accused of her family’s murder is nicknamed “Empty Eyes” by the public. Ten years later, she is still searching for who was behind their deaths. Now a legal investigator, she works tirelessly to make sure others see justice done. But when she begins to look into the disappearance of a college student, she is shocked to find connections to her own past. Looking forward to diving into these two. Stay tuned for reviews on both! ⁉️ QOTD: What are you currently reading, watching, and listening to? 🗣️ AOTD: Reading The New Neighbors (aka The House) by Simon Lelic, watching either old episodes of NCIS or New Amsterdam, and listening to Matt Nathanson! #minahardy #charliedonlea #bookrecs #igreads #bookpic #bookaddicts #instaread #booksarelife #bibliophile #readingisfundamental #lovetoread #whatimreading #bookreviewer #tbrpile #mysterybooks #justread #bookaholic #bookstagram #bookishphotography #readallday #suspensebooks #bookpost #bookworms #booksofinstagram #whattoreadnext #bookwormproblems #booknerd #thrillerbooks #newreads

When I realized I left my book sleeve at work, holding my kindle and 2 paperbacks I’ve been reading and planning to finish this weekend, I decided to take the opportunity to work on my NetGalley backlist. Even though my reading plan was as busted as my basketball bracket, I made the best of it and got in some good reading time anyway! I promptly borrowed the audio for 𝑊𝑒 𝐾𝑛𝑒𝑤 𝐴𝑙𝑙 𝐴𝑙𝑜𝑛𝑔 from Libby, cranked up the speed, and listened to it in its entirety today. I really enjoyed this one and was super surprised by the ending! It was definitely more twisty at the end, with the beginning being more of a slow-burn domestic suspense, but it works. Tension is built, characters become more complicated, and the surprises are set up well. I recommend this book to all my thriller lovers and romance lovers wanting to get into thrillers! Definitely worth a read or listen if you’re looking for something quick and entertaining! 🖤 Add this book to your list if you love: - Domestic suspense - Slow burn tension builders - Long buried family secrets - lovers to enemies to friends to lovers to enemies? We Knew All Along — Mina Hardy Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Another decent thriller!! This one is about an unhappy Jewalann Jordan, who attends her high school reunion hoping to show everyone what they’ve been missing since high school. On the outside, she has it all, expensive clothing, a handsome husband, a beautiful house. But under the surface, she’s in an abusive and controlling relationship and has mortgaged the house twice to pay off her mounting credit card bills. She realizes something shady is going on when her husband rents their guesthouse to her ex-boyfriend, and starts acting even more controlling and angry than he usually is. What is going on with the Jordans? #bookstagram #booksbooksbooks #bookrecommendations #bookreview #booktok #weknewallalong #minahardy

I live for the days that I can dive into a good book while taking care of my patient. This is a great rainy day spooky read. ☔️ My patient is reading a spooky fantasy herself today 🥹❤️ If I could give this 6 stars I would! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ITS SO SINISTER that its GENIUS! Juleann, bad bitch. Shops at estate sales for designer red bottoms and clothing she could never afford off of the racks at the store. SAHM to one kid, and her husband travels TOO often. She suspects he’s cheating but, she has her own secrets so, they are even 🥴 At her high school reunion, the only thing Juleann is worried about is making all those now dusty fat must buckets at her former highschool and the boy who broke her heart, SEE HER. Puuuur! And baby they did. Christian, her old flame becomes obsessed with having her. He befriends her son, her husband and may or may not be hunching one of her homegirls to make her jealous. When we hop out the plane on this, baby the parachute doesn’t even come out for us. We SPLAT, hit the ground before we can ever see it coming. 🥴 Somebody knew all along but it ain’t us, the reader. Add it! I listened on Libby. #minahardy #spookyreads #thrillers #goodreads #libby #bookstagram #epicreads #healthcare #quiettime

QOTD- Any plans for the weekend? "Blame the booze, her shaky marriage, her troubled son, or a thousand other things. Jewelann Jordan has one thing on her mind when she attends her class reunion, and that's making sure her old crush Christian Campbell sees exactly what he lost all those years ago. A late night, a hotel room, a rekindled flame that burns even hotter than it did back then. What could go wrong? Everything. The night with Christian isn't the first secret Jewelann has kept from her husband Ken, so one more shouldn't be much harder--except that Christian shows up without warning, seemingly determined to do his best to mess up Jewelann's life in any way he can. Worse than that, he seems to have his sights set on charming her son, Eli, and befriending her husband. Revenge isn't so sweet when it bites you back, but Jewelann is determined to keep Christian from ruining everything she's worked so hard to keep safe, including her son. Fighting to keep it all from spiraling out of control, Jewelann discovers Christian is not the man he claims to be. When darker secrets emerge, even closer to home, Jewelann takes the chance to turn the tables on him. The more Jewelann digs for the truth, the uglier--and the deadlier--it gets." -Goodreads I feel like it is hard to be invested in a story when every single character is unlikable. While this book had my attention at first, it quickly felt redundant and I wasn't all that interested in what happened to the characters. Jewelann was absolutely insufferable. ⭐⭐⭐ #weknewallalong #minahardy #readingtime #bookpost #booksta #reading #booksbooksandmorebooks #bookloversofinstagram

AUDIOBOOK Review ⭐⭐⭐✨ This started out as an “Uh huh, I know where this is heading.” But this wild ride twisted and turned and finally dived right off the believability rails. The ending was far, far away from my earlier, “Uh, huh, I know where this is heading.” Jewelann plans to go to her high school reunion only to prove to Christian Campbell that he shouldn’t have taken her for granted and treated her so poorly. She is a determined lady who plans on making a point. And this time she’ll be the one in charge, not like in high school. However, her line of thinking has one big flaw, and maybe more. The biggest, however, is that she’s married. As an audiobook, this kept my attention, but then I seem to have more patience for a well-narrated story than I do when I’m reading. And, like most fans of this type of book, I love secrets and twists. And this started out with a twist that caught my attention. But then one twist turned to two, and a switchback, and well, this ride was heading to the finish line at breakneck speed. My Concerns It didn’t take that long before the twists and turns felt included to just prove they could be there. Even if I was willing to suspend disbelief, this was too much for me. And the ending felt rushed and not satisfying Final Thoughts If you like domestic thrillers you might want to give this a try. In my opinion, you will really like it or be disappointed regarding what it could have been. ◾️𝑸𝑶𝑻𝑫: Did you watch any football games today? { review } We Knew All Along by Mina Hardy Out now ! Thank you @crookedlanebooks & @netgalley for the eARC to read and review. Swipe ➡️ for synopsis ➡️ Are you a fan of a hot mess of lies, revenge, deception, and deceit? If your answer is yes, then pick-up a copy of We Knew All Along, grab a glass of wine and get ready to enjoy the ride. I can honestly say that I didn't see 90% of the ending coming. It came out of nowhere, but somehow worked. Everything in Jewelann's life is a mess and it’s pure enjoyable voyeurism to watch from the sidelines as she tries to resist the charms of her high school love, stop her compulsive shopping habit and figure out what on earth her husband, Ken, is up to. When her high school love Christian comes back on the scene, my mind kept singing the lyrics "bad, bad, bad, bad, boy, You make me feel so good...." Christian is the definition of the hot and unattainable guy that is irresistible to certain women… or so I’ve been told…. We Knew All Along is pure entertainment and pairs perfectly with a big glass of wine. Q - Any fun weekend plans ? I’m celebrating one of my besties birthdays tonight !

Full Review in Story Highlight “R^3” We Knew All Along by Mina Hardy, follows the trials, tribulations, and trepidations of stay-at-home mom and wife, Jewelann Jordan. Jewelann dolls herself up, putting on airs, to vie for the attention of a high school fling, Christian Campbell. She thinks her presence is reminding him of what he could have had. Amid the compliments and attention, little does she know that that wasn’t all she’s getting from this one night of playing catch-up. “Faking the funk” catches up and the seams of Jewelann’s life start to unravel. How do I know? Because I hung on with her to the very end and the end to that end before it became the end. My rating for this novel is 3.0 Stars for its entertainment factor. I recommend it. #zurajohnson #MinaHardy #weknewallalong #audiobooks #domesticsuspensebooks #bookreview #bookreviews

✨UNDERRATED AND/OR NOT TALKED ABOUT ENOUGH THRILLERS✨ I moderate a fairly large thriller book group on FB, and members are always asking for thriller recommendations. The answers are usually all the same. This year I plan on recommending older thrillers that aren't given enough love. The six pictured here are some thrillers I feel aren't mentioned enough or seriously underrated. ❤️ Precious You by #HelenMonksTakhar - "An obsessive power struggle between an editor and her millennial intern turns dangerous". Give me all the books centered around obsession! This was unputdownable! ❤️ I Let You Go by @claremackwrites. This book has the biggest twist EVER. I still think about it years later. Do yourself a favor and read this! ❤️Mine by @courtneycolewrites - A wife and her husband's mistress are trapped together during a hurricane. What could go wrong? Hop aboard the crazy train! ❤️Lying in Wait by @liznugentwriter - A story about a twisted family with an explosive ending that you will not see coming. I promise! ❤️After All I've Done by @minahardywrites - This one is filled with a cheating spouse, gaslighting, amnesia, a crazy mother-in-law, and a gasp out loud ending. ❤️The Social Affair by @britneyking_ - A dark story centered around social media, stalking and obsession. ❓What book do you feel is underrated❓ ________________________________________ #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookrecommendations #girlswhoread #thrillerbooks #bookrecs #underratedbooks #booknerd #bookinfluencer #readersofinstagram #booksbooksbooks #bookobsessed #HelenMonksTakhar #CourtneyCole #ClareMackintosh #MinaHardy #LizNugent #BritneyKing

📚🤓 Page-turner alert! I super enjoyed Mina Hardy's After All I've Done, and her newest, We Knew All Along, definitely gripped me. Thank you to @netgalley and @penguinrandomca for the eARC for review. The domestic suspense centers around Jewelann, a housewife whose husband Ken is controlling and domineering. Their teen son Eli is seen as the school "weird kid". Enter Christian Campbell, a man from Jewelann's high school days who might have more than a passing interest in her and her family. This book is a slow burn, and lays down a lot of potential for reveals. Ultimately there were some good twists, but some elements didn't feel fully fleshed out. There are some interesting pieces to the story such as addiction, infidelity and Jewish representation that added depth. Not my favourite suspense read, but for a quick romp, recommended!
