Baskıları, tasarımları ve çevirileri başarılı devam edebilirlerdi. Tek Kurşun serinin 9. kitabıdır. Her yayın seriyi parça parça çıkarmış. Artık sorgulamıyorum. Kitabımız 5 kişinin ölümüyle başlıyor. Şehrin göbeğinde usta bir keskin nişancı katliam yapıyor. Bütün deliller eski asker olan James Barr işaret ediyor. Polis olayı anında çözüp basit bir dava olarak görüp tutuklamayı gerçekleştiriyor. James'in istediği tek şey Reacher'ı bulun. Böylelikle adamımız olaya dahil oluyor. Tabii ki onu bulamıyorlar kendi çıkıp geliyor. James'i tanıyor ve bir şeylerin doğru olmadığını düşünüp araştırma sürecine giriyor. Bu serideki kitaplar ya çok aksiyonlu ya da aksiyona nazaran durağan geçiyor. Jack Reacher and secrets don’t mix. At least, when people don’t want him to look too closely at them. Then Reacher not only looks, he brings them out to light and smashes his way through with them. Going back in time, this book is set in the 90s when Reacher is still in the Army. Put on a special task force, Reacher is charged with finding the person behind the killings of respected men who worked on a government project in the 60s. There’s fantastic plot twists, two sisters set on a mission, a politician scrambling to keep his secrets locked up, Reacher using his fists, and so much more. 📖 Book Review 📖 The Secret – Lee & Andrew Child ‘Chicago. 1992. A hospital patient wakes up to find two strangers by his bed. They show him a list of names and ask a simple but impossible question. Minutes later he falls to his death from his twelfth-floor window . That attention comes from the Secretary of Defense, who calls for a task force to investigate. Jack Reacher, is assigned as the Army’s representative. If he gets a result, great. If not, he’s a convenient fall guy. Reacher may be an exceptional military investigator, but office politics aren’t what gets him up in the morning. As he races to identify a cold-blooded killer and uncover a secret that stretches back 23 years, he must navigate around his new partners.’ The latest Reacher book is a breath of fresh air into the series, not that the quality of those before has been bad, it’s just that The Secret is a flashback story to Reacher’s younger days as a MP in the Army, one of my favourite Reacher books is another that goes back to his army day, The Enemy...I hope we get more of these in the future as a break from the usual. This allows the authors to play around a bit more with the formula as Reacher isn’t just a lone man sorting out small towns problems, he has the resources and partners available to take on something bigger...even if he still prefers to go it alone. The Secret was another solid Reacher book that plays out like a good action movie, the pace is fast, the violence is brutal and there are plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing. The edition I have includes a bonus short story and is signed by both authors..I love a signed book! Has anyone read The Secret? What are your thoughts? One Shot by Lee Child (Jack Reacher #9) Genre: Thriller, fiction My rating: 4.5 • Goodreads: 4.24 • StoryGraph: 3.96 Jack Reacher is my palate cleanser when I’ve binged too many romance books, and I have definitely binged too much romance lately. This is one of my favorite Jack Reacher books yet and I can see why this is one of the books that was turned into a movie. That being said, I haven’t seen the movie yet but the fact that it stars Tom Cruise makes me never want to see it. Literally the entire premise around Jack Reacher is that he’s a huge guy—tall, big, strong, imposing—not at all the stature of Tom Cruise. But, I digress, back to the book. It’s action packed from the first page to the last. The plot is fairly easy to follow and it’s easy enough to keep track of who the bad guys are, but it still took some plot twists that I didn’t quite see coming. I enjoy Jack Reacher’s no-nonsense badass-ery and the action sequences. It kept me interested and turning pages the entire book. I’ll definitely be continuing the series over time, and perhaps one day I’ll watch the movies or series—but nothing can ever justify Tom Cruise or anyone under 6’2” (at least) being cast to play Jack Reacher. 2024 Book Review • Killing Floor by Lee Child • ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5 stars . Ok, I have made a commitment to read all the Jack Reacher series in order! I watched the TV series and really enjoyed them so, I’m going to read all the books! I hadn’t realised quite how many there were so, to save money, I’m going to limit myself to the library and charity shops! This one was from the library! I really enjoyed this book even though I knew how it was going to end. I always think reading a book when you know the ending is less enjoyable however I did still enjoy this! I knew the ending, the plot and the characters but I couldn’t not read the first one. Like I say I still enjoyed it, I enjoyed the style of writing and actually it was a good way to ease into an absolutely huge series. Luckily I have already found the the second one in a charity shop so I’m good to go for the next one! . Synopsis - Jack Reacher jumps off a bus and walks fourteen miles down a country road into Margrave, Georgia. An arbitrary decision he’s about to regret. Reacher is the only stranger in town on the day they have had their first homicide in thirty years.The cops arrest Reacher and the police chief turns eyewitness to place him at the scene. As nasty secrets leak out, and the body count mounts, one thing is for sure. Bad Luck and Trouble by Lee Child This is the 11th published book in the Jack Reacher thriller series. They’ve also just adapted the book for Season 2 of ‘Reacher’, which I plan on watching at some point. Finished: 3 March 2023 It was enjoyable, but I didn’t enjoy it as much as some of the other Reacher novels. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Jack Reacher is a great character. He’s a tough, 6ft 5 ex-military man. He’s a great fighter, has a strong sense of justice, takes no bullsh*t, and he’s very smart. He also loves coffee and women (and women love him back). My favourites in the series so far have been Killing Floor (book 1), set in a small town in Georgia, and Echo Burning (book 5), set in rural Texas. Have you read any of the Jack Reacher books? To me Reacher is larger then life he’s a big man with good morals that sometimes cause him to do bad things for the better of the good so when someone starts killing old friends and members of the special investigator’s unit Reacher drops everything and meets up with his other team members to find out what is happening. I like in this book how author Lee Child writes about the women characters they are really strong and self-reliance women that’s always a plus for me. Reacher has a good group around him The Special Investigator’s team are all loyal to each other I would love to have them on my side anytime. Düşman kitabını Nadir 'den aldım. Okuyacağım daha iki kitabım var. Şimdi serimizde söyle bir durum söz konusu. Kronolojik sıra ve yayın sırası olarak ikiye ayrılıyor. Kronolojik olarak baktığımız da buçukluk kitaplardan sonra Düşman kitabı geliyor. Diğer sırada ilk kitap Öldüren Kumpas olarak geçiyor. Düşman'ı ilk kitap olarak okumak daha mantıklı. Çünkü Reacher hala orduda, abisi Joe hayatta ve annesiyle olan bölümleri mevcut. Demem o ki Öldüren Kumpas'dan önce Düşman okunmalı ✅️ Maceraperest Kitaplar, aslında iki sıralamaya göre serinin ilk kitabını çıkarmış ama devamı gelmemiş. Tasarımı ve çevirisi güzeldi tüm seri çıksaydı diyorum.. Okuduğum diğer kitapların aksine bunda aksiyon azdı. Çünkü Reacher orduda görevleri, hesap vermesi gereken üstleri var. Diğerlerine göre kasaba kasaba gezip kendince adalet dağıtamıyor. Kitabımız, bir generalin otel odasında ölü bulunmasıyla başlıyor. Bunun için Reacher görevlendiriliyor. Basit bir kalp krizi gibi görünse de olaylar daha farklı boyutlara çıkıyor. Reacher gibi 20 subay aniden görev yerlerinden farklı yerlere çekilmiştir. Berlin duvarı yıkıldıktan sonra bir kişi orduyu baştan düzenlemek ister ve bu doğrultuda harekete geçer. Bir toplantı olur toplantıya katılan general otel odasında ölü olduğundan gündemi bulmak tabii ki Reacher'a kalır. Yetkileri kısıtlanır, tutuklama kararı çıkarılır, başka birliklerden tehdit edilir hepsini çözmek zaman alır. Aslında durağan değil ama sakin derin devlet içeren bir kitap. 📖 Lee Child Collection 📖 Similar to Michael Connelly, I've been reading Lee Child books for ages so thought I'd start a series of posts on my Lee Child Collection. I actually had a reread of Lee Child's first book recently due to @ephedrareads reading it and then the @foliosociety version was in a recent sale so why not eh! Anyway onto the first in the Jack Reacher series.... Killing Floor Published: 17 March 1997 "Jack Reacher jumps off a bus and walks fourteen miles down a country road into Margrave, Georgia. An arbitrary decision he's about to regret. Reacher is the only stranger in town on the day they have had their first homicide in thirty years.The cops arrest Reacher and the police chief turns eyewitness to place him at the scene. As nasty secrets leak out, and the body count mounts, one thing is for sure. They picked the wrong guy to take the fall." I think this was an excellent introduction to an iconic character, it highlights his intelligence and brutal nature whilst also showing how his own moral compass works. Jack Reacher might be just visiting in search of information on Blues legend Blind Blake (turn sound on!) but something is right in town and Reacher can't leave without sorting it out, especially when things take a personal turn. The Reacher series gets a lot of stick for its unrealisticness and violence but I normally laugh at that, these books are like reading an action film and sometimes that's just what I need from a book! I like to have these collection posts as a break up from recent reviews so expect more of the Reacher series going forward... unfortunately they won't all feature beautiful Folio Society versions 🤟 Any Reacher fans out there? ✨Two For Tuesday: chronological reread completed & season 2 review (minor spoilers) ✨ . 📺 The casting for the new characters was really good. O'Donnell was so comical, and I enjoyed him so much. Dixon was good, but I went in knowing she's the token 'Reacher conquest', and I don't feel like she offered much more than that. However, I enjoyed another season with one of my favourite fictional friendships: Reacher and Neagley. Neagley's introduction in season 1 (despite not appearing in the corresponding book, Killing Floor) was perfect, and season 2 cemented them as a favourite pairing for me. Their casting is absolutely perfect! 🥰 . . . 📚 I finished my chronological reread in December 2023, and it was so worthwhile. Reading it chronologically only meant reordering a few of the earlier novels, but this time I read all of the short stories/novellas in chronological order and I also got hold of a few short stories/novellas that I hadn't read the first time around. Through this reread, I found a couple of new favourites (Worth Dying For and Past Tense), with both receiving higher ratings on reread. As a result of these increased ratings and because some good short stories/novellas were thrown in, my average rating for the series increased from 3.12 to 3.87. . 🙋🏻‍♀️ I had a number of responses to my stories as I was posting updated ratings, asking why I was bothering to reread the lower rated books if I didn't enjoy them the first time. Simply put, this a very long (28 books) and formulaic thriller series, so not every book is going to be a hit but some books, regardless of how dull the plot may have been, gave some additional backstory or insight into a character I'm very invested in. I'm also a very different (and more patient) reader now compared to when I originally read the series back in 2016-2020, meaning I appreciate the smaller details and the slower plots now. . ebook Review - Deep Down - Lee Child I like novellas - too long to be a short story and too short to be a full novel - because they showcase an author’s ability to develop and tell a good story quickly without losing the reader. “Deep Down” by Lee Child falls in that category. A short novella - 44 pages - that focuses on Jack Reacher’s backstory during his time in the Army Military Police. Reacher is sent to Washington DC in an undercover assignment to solve which of four high ranking female military officers are leaking top secret information about the latest and most technological sniper rifle details into the hands of terrorists, mercenaries, foreign arms dealers, and dictators’ militia. Reacher is an excellent detective and is charged with smoking out the mole. His hands get really dirty in this classic Reacher short story which is full of action, great detective work, and mystery. 📚 NON SPOILER BOOK REVIEW: THE ENEMY BY LEE CHILD 📖 ⭐⭐⭐ "Enemy" by Lee Child is the 8th installment; however, chronologically, it is the 1st book within the Jack Reacher series. The story follows Reacher as a military cop and depicts life within the military during a time of significant cuts. In this installment, Reacher finds himself working a case that lands him in the middle of a web of conspiracies, with danger lurking around every corner. What I liked about this iteration was the interaction between Reacher and his brother Joe. It was nice to see them share their intellectual processes during conversation. I would like to see more interactions with the brother in later iterations if Lee Child decides to revisit Reacher's past to fill in some knowledge gaps. It felt like Lee Child wanted to present a younger, less experienced version of Reacher who is still learning the ropes; however, I felt like this was not executed very well, as the character was only a couple of years younger than in previous iterations and has always been described as a perfect specimen. This iteration didn't really present Reacher as very intellectual, as he missed obvious clues and information. This may be due to the personal emotional complications he had to deal with at the time. I actually watch the show for Reacher when it first came out before I even read the first book. The Killing Floor as season 1 was a faithful adaptation of the book and continues to show how well Amazon does shows. I’ve read nearly 10 books in the series since. Reacher is such a strong character you don’t need the same continual supporting case to make it interesting. I also enjoy you can read any book from anywhere on the series and not be lost regarding history of past books. It’s almost like an anthology with the same main character. L’espoir fait vivre, Lee Child. 12e tome de la série Jack Reacher. Jack est de passage dans la ville de Hope. Lorsqu’il continue sa route en arrivant dans la ville de Despair, il se fait littéralement bannir et expulser de la ville pour vagabondage. Reacher refuse cette interdiction qui est contre ses droits et fera tout en son possible pour découvrir la vraie raison pour laquelle Despair déteste et rejette les étrangers. De multiples kilomètres de marche et de conduite en véhicules motorisés de tout genre, entre Hope et Despair. Je dois dire que c’est un peu trop long avec plus d’une centaine de pages de route. L’histoire a quand même ses points forts en tension, avec de bons moments d’action percutents. Mais malheureusement avec tous ces kilomètres de lecture, la fin m’a mise devant l’évidence : tout ça pour ça? Ce 12e tome n’est pas mon préféré, ça m’attriste de le dire. 🚘 Nothing to Lose, Lee Child. 12th novel of the Jack Reacher Series. Jack is heading West, spends a few days discovering the city of Hope. Then continuing his travels, he arrives in Despair. The troubles start. He is immediately cornered, banned and expulsed from Despair for vagrancy. No way that Reacher will accept being told what to do and where to go. His mission will be to do whatever it takes to dig all Despair’s dirt. Why do they hate strangers so much and reject them out of town? Miles and miles of walking or driving in motorized vehicles of many kinds, back and forth between Hope and Despair. I got a bit bored with it all – more than a hundred of pages of travels too many for me. The storyline still has some key elements that were quite interesting and action-packed, which all sustained my interest. But unfortunately, all this mileage didn’t work for me. Cześć wam. Dzisiaj u mnie się pojawia nowy autor. A wszystko za sprawą serialu "Reacher". Chociaż nie powiem, już kiedyś się zastanawiałam nad tą serią. Dzięki serialowi czytanie powieści wydawało mi się łatwiejsze. Wszystko chyba przez to, że łatwiej było mi sobie "wyobrazić" postać bohatera. Zarówno serial jak i książka porwały mnie równo. Pozwólcie na małe wprowadzenie do tej części. Detektyw Castello poszukuje Reacher'a na zlecenie pani Jacob. Odnajduje go w barze, aczkolwiek Reacher zaprzecza i nie przyznaje się, że jest osobą której poszukuje. Po kilku dniach para facetów w ciemnych garniturach szuka go w barze, w którym pracuje wieczorami jako bramkarz. Reacher stosuje tą samą taktykę nie pozbawiając sie przyjemności sarkastycznej wymiany zdań. Postanawia udać się za nimi i znajduje ciało zamordowanego detektywa, które oprawca pozostawił niemożliwym do zindentyfikowania. Reacher czuje, ze coś jest nie tak i postanawia udać się do Nowego Yorku, aby odnaleźć panią Jacob. Jak sie okazuje pani Jacob to kobieta z jego przeszłości kiedy jeszcze służył w wojsku. Reszty wam nie powiem, bo chciałabym aby ten opis was chociaz troszkę zaciekawił i dzieki temu sięgnęli po tem egzemplarz. Co do moich uwag w książce. Jest tylko jedna i w sumie bardziej tyczy się opisu od wydawcy. Matko moja kochana- gdzie tam wydawca wyczytał, ze Reacher i pani Jacob mieli kiedyś romans? Ja się pytam gdzie to jest napisane? Byli w sobie skrycie zakochani- skrycie. Ale żadne się nie wychylało z uczuciami. Tak poza tym to dla mnie 9.5/10 (ocena nie bierze pod uwagę opisu ze strony wydawcy). Świetny thriller. ❓Lubicie serie, w których każdy tom opowiada odrębną historię?❔ ⭐Lee Child - “Poziom Śmierci”⭐ Do sięgnięcia po tą książkę zachęciła mnie serialowa adaptacja i pochlebne słowa czytelników kierowane w jej stronę. Muszę przyznać, że pomimo niemałych różnic w prowadzeniu wątków, bardzo dobrze oddano tą historię na ekranie. Sama w sobie książka jest zaś naprawdę dobrym kryminałem i świetnym wprowadzeniem postaci Jacka Reachera. Jeśli czytaliście moją recenzję 1 sezonu serialu, dobrze wiecie, o czym jest ta książka. Reacher przybywa do niedużego miasteczka w stanie Georgia w celach rekreacyjnych. Zostaje błyskawicznie aresztowany pod zarzutem morderstwa, którego nie byłby w stanie popełnić. Sprawa szybko robi się dziwna i zagmatwana, a pozornie piękna i pogodna mieścina okazuje się mieć brudne, gnijące wnętrze. By udowodnić swoją niewinność, Reacher musi polegać na swoich umiejętnościach oraz pomocy dwojga policjantów, zdeterminowanych, by wyjaśnić całą sytuację. Debiutancka powieść Childa to kawał solidnego thrillera kryminalnego. Styl autora jest prosty i konkretny. Nie marnuje czasu na zbędne informacje czy nader poetyckie określenia. Dzięki temu powieść czyta się szybko i przyjemnie, mimo iż tekstu na każdej stronie jest niemało. Narracja pierwszoosobowa - choć porzucona w kolejnych tomach - pozwala się głęboko zanurzyć w psychikę Reachera i spojrzeć na świat jego oczami. Spojrzenie to jest dość intrygujące i nieraz potrafi on zaskoczyć swoimi przemyśleniami. Co najważniejsze, nie jest to bohater idealny. Nieraz popełnia błędy i kaja się za nie bez zawahania. Największym problemem książki jest wątek romantyczny. Nie tyle fakt jego istnienia, co jego realizacja. Jak na mój gust postępuje o wiele za szybko i przez to brakuje mu wiarygodności. Ogólnie relacje między postaciami są tu trochę niedopracowane. Mam wrażenie, że pewni bohaterowie poboczni ufali Reacherowi odrobinę za łatwo. Mimo wszystko jest to groźny, obcy facet, o którym nie wiadomo prawie nic, a niektórzy zwierzają mu się z bardzo prywatnych spraw ledwie po kilku dniach znajomości.

Did you know that when Agatha Christie went missing, she was traced to a hotel in Harrogate? Every year, the Swan Hotel hosts a crime writing festival where up and coming and well known crime authors hold forums where they discuss all things crime fiction. My step-mum has recently had her 3rd crime fiction book published, so every year she attends and the last few years, I have been lucky enough to attend alongside her. It is quite surreal meeting the faces behind some of your favourite books! They also have their own book shop within the hotel which hosts many of the newest crime dramas that have been signed by the author’s on sight and if you are lucky enough to catch one of them at the bar, you can get them to personalise the signing too. This summer I went to the festival and a whole host of famous faces were there. Most notably was Lee Child and his brother Andrew Child who has begun to take over his Jack Reacher novels. I have always been a Jack Reacher fan (mostly due to my parents), so of course I bought the most recent book of the series and I got both of the Child brothers to sign it. 📚 NON SPOILER BOOK REVIEW: PERSUADER BY LEE CHILD 📚 ⭐⭐⭐ "Persuader" by Lee Child is the 7th installment where Reacher finds himself in an undercover operation involving an old enemy from his past. The story primarily focuses on Reacher's past, adding a deeper layer to his character and exploring the motivations that drive him. While it was enlightening to gain a better understanding of Reacher, I didn't appreciate how Lee Child handled the flashbacks, with transitions consistently marked as "10 years later." The standout aspect of this story, for me, was the introduction of an adversary larger and stronger than Reacher, unlike in past installments. This added a sense of realism, as Reacher couldn't simply overpower his opponent and had to devise an alternative method to incapacitate them. Overall, "Persuader," like the previous installments, can be read as a standalone. 📚 WITHOUT FAIL BY LEE CHILD NON SPOILER BOOK REVIEW 📚 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Without Fail" by Lee Child is the 6th installment where Reacher is approached by the Secret Service to assist in protecting the Vice President-elect from a potential threat. This book focuses on the intricacies of security detail and the meticulous planning required for protection. The narrative delves deeper into Reacher's mindset as he strategizes and executes plans in a more structured environment. Lee Child is great at writing gripping thriller books, especially within the Jack Reacher universe. The twists and turns within these books are just mind-blowing. However, within this iteration, I felt that there were aspects where it was clear what would happen next and didn't provide much suspense or thought. ⭐ November 2023 Monthly Wrapup ⭐ A small batch this month as I had a lot going on but read some amazing books. As you can tell the new series I started (Songs of Chaos) by Michael R Miller has become a favourite as his books are just getting better with each iteration. The disappointment for me was Amber Spyglass as the ending just didn't provide the satisfactory ending that I think the series deserved or could have potentially been. WHAT THIS WEEK 🫶🏻 What I’ve been reading: I’ve been hooked this week on the Bridgerton Series. I don’t really know why I’ve taken up reading the whole series in one go, but I’m so glad I did. I’ve very much enjoyed it. It’s such an easy read and something I don’t need to look so deeply into. I’ve also been continuing on with buddy reading ’The Memory Keeper’s Daughter’ with my sister. This book really breaks my heart and I’m so glad it was our December pick. December has pretty much been a series month for me. I’ve started a lot of series in 2023, and I definitely need to start to get through some of these going into 2024. So this month I prioritised Sherlock Holmes because I just love it. I also read the second books in the Jack Reacher series by Lee Child and also the DCI Ryan series by L. J. Ross. What I’ve been watching: Well, I wouldn’t be on bookstagram without watching book tube. I absolutely love this time of the year where we find out what were the favourite books of 2023 and anticipated reads for the upcoming year. So, if you have any recommendations then be sure to let me know! We’ve continued binging Criminal Minds which I’ve decided is one of my favourite shows! We are absolutely hooked on it and to be honest, this type of show is our go-to type, they are very intriguing! I’ll be probably writing that I am watching this for half of 2024 too because we are only on season 6 out of 20+. What I’ve been doing: Well, I’ve been doing a lot of shopping (which my husband will tell you is my favourite activity apart from reading)! Christmas is just around the corner so I’ve been attempting to get some treats in, like gingerbread houses and other goodies. I have also visited 2 books shops, and although as I said in a previous post, there’s no English books it is still so interesting to peruse the shelves. I love looking at the different covers and all the other little bits they sell, like stationery, souvenirs etc. {continued in comments} 🍓

What I’m reading: The Secret by Lee Child. My dad, my sister and I all read the Jack Reacher books and we love discussing them. They are so entertaining and so funny too! Jack Reacher is a great character. I talk about him like he’s a real person: Jack Reacher says you should always eat when you get the chance, Jack Reacher says you can always sense when someone is in a room, and the best of all Reacher says nothing. When someone tries to provoke him he always just stares at them and is silent.
