Déçu par les armes de la lumière. Ayant dévoré les précédents romans de Ken Follett (saga les piliers de la terre) avec passion, je me suis plongé dans "Les Armes de la Lumière" avec une grande impatience. Malheureusement, mon enthousiasme s'est vite dissipé pour laisser place à une certaine déception et j'ai peiné tout au long du livre et fini avec difficultés. Dès les premières pages, j'ai eu du mal à m'immerger dans l'histoire. L'intrigue, centrée sur des conflits politiques dans une époque moderne, ne m'a pas paru aussi captivante que les récits historiques auxquels l'auteur nous a habitués. J'ai peiné à m'attacher aux personnages, et j'ai eu beaucoup de mal à les reconnaître, les trouvant moins profonds et attachants que ceux de ses romans précédents, me demandant constamment : qui est qui. L'intrigue centrée sur la politique moderne, n'a pas réussi à m'accrocher. C'est peut-être l'époque qui m'a perdu. J'ai souvent décroché, du revenir en arrière etc ... J'ai également trouvé les méchants de l'histoire sans reel caractère et vite oubliable contrairement aux autres romans de la série. La fin longue et peu crédible. Attention spoilers Presque tout les personnages décident de s'expatrier en Belgique soit pour le commerce soit pour suivre leur proche engagé dans la guerre contre Napoléon et la bataille de Waterloo. I subsequently became obsessed and wrote my own story based on the murder of Thomas Beckett, which the novel depicts. Fu ricostruita per volere di Papa Clemente XIV e terminata sotto il pontificato di Papa Pio VI nel 1782, diventando poi Cattedrale nel 1805. Siccome fu danneggiata dai bombardamenti del 1943, venne restaurata nel 1950.⛪️🇮🇹📚 Essa è formata da una sola navata e si presenta con un’alta facciata barocca a doppio ordine ionico, un’ampia porta centrale inserita in essa e un’ampia scalinata. Autant, j'adore quand un personnage soulève un lièvre si gros que sa vie s'en voit menacée et qu'il persiste jusqu'à ce que la vérité éclate, autant là... Bon, on peut pardonner car l'un des "méchants" est dans une sorte de délire hitlérien, donc, ça devient un peu plus crédible lorsque l'on pense à ça, sauf que... Ce n'est pas assez étoffé pour que tout soit fluide. En plus, j'en ai un peu marre de la platitude de la plume des auteurs actuels... Långa skuggor, och långa dramaturgiska bågar. Det är något särskilt med riktigt tjocka böcker, tegelstenar. De som inte bara är 4-500 sidor långa, utan snarare 1100. Och där teckenstorleken snarare är 8 än 12, och marginalerna nästan obefintliga. De böcker som tar många veckor att ta sig genom, även om du läser varje möjlig minut, och som biter sig fast i ditt medvetande. Böcker där dramaturgin snarare kan jämföras med en tv-serie än en långfilm. Där protagonister både kan födas, få barn och dö, misslyckas och lyckas, och lämna över huvudrollen till andra karaktärer i senare delar av boken. En sådan bok-serie är Katedralserien av Ken Follett, där hela serien kretsar runt den fiktiva staden Kingsbridge i medeltida England. I den inledande Svärdet och Spiran byggs den enorma katedralen på 1100-talet och alla vi som vuxit upp nära en domkyrka har väl fått höra historier om hur dessa byggnadsverk tog generationer att bygga, och att det bildades små samhällen runt dessa byggen. Vi följer ett antal olika huvudkaraktärer, där några är hedervärda (munken Philip, katedralbyggaren Tom och grevedottern Aliena), men även långt ifrån sympatiska (riddarsonen William). Ett genomgående tema är kampen mellan kungamakten och kyrkomakten, därav den svenska titeln. I uppföljaren, En värld utan slut, har det gått 200 år, men vi är kvar i och runt Kingsbridge katedral, vars kloster nu även fått ett nunnekloster. Huvudrollerna innebar barndomsvännerna nunnan Caris och brobyggaren Merthin och de genomlever då Digerdöden härjar, stadens enda bron rasar samman, och motsättningar mellan nunnekloster och munkkloster. Den tredje delen, Den eviga elden, utspelar sig under religionskrigen på 1500-talets England. Och nu när jag skriver detta får jag syn på att det kommit ut en fjärde del, då det är 1700-tal. Dessutom finns en prequel, utspelad på 900-talet, där vi får veta hur stadens grundades. Aos poucos vamos sendo apresentados a vários personagens que estão abordo dessa aventura com cerca de 30 horas de Southampton, na Inglaterra,à Nova Iorque, nos Estados Unidos, cada um com seus dramas familiares, seus infortúnios, seus amores e os reais motivos para essa longa viagem. Como sempre o autor Ken Follet nos presenteia com enredos históricos e bem construídos onde pesquisas não faltam para as suas histórias, posições políticas e sociais da época são bem definidas aqui, os personagens logo no início são apresentados como, por exemplo,um cientista alemão fugindo dos nazistas,o casal de amantes Diana e Mark,o charmoso ladrão Harry Marks, e a jovem lady Margaret Oxenforddentre outros como sempre enriquecem a história. Der Modigliani-Skandal von @kenfollettauthor aus dem @bastei_luebbe Verlag war ein eher zufälliger Fund von mir. Viele andere seiner Bücher habe ich schon verschlungen und bin stundenlang in andere Welten getaucht. Der dritte Zwilling ist dabei immer noch mein absoluter Liebling. Ich liebe es, wenn (wie in diesem Fall) ein Buch von Anfang bis Ende durchdacht ist und das Ende auch wieder zum Anfang der Geschichte führt. Auf den Spuren eines verschwundenen Meisterwerkes begegnen wir vielen unterschiedlichen Menschen, deren Wege sich immer wieder zufällig oder auch nicht kreuzen und die die Londoner Kunstwelt auf ihre Art ganz schön durcheinander wirbeln. Es geht um Betrug, Kunstfälschung und der immer wiederkehrenden Frage, was ist Kunst wert und wer macht sie so wertvoll. Ken Follett hat es tatsächlich wieder geschafft, dass ich jede freie Minute im Familienalltag lesend verbracht habe und vielleicht auch das ein oder andere Mal etwas später geschlafen habe. Es gibt mit Sicherheit viele andere gute Bücher von ihm, dies aber eins, dass (auch Dank seiner Kürze) nicht nur eine Urlaubslektüre ist. Già prima di iniziarlo sapevo che mi sarebbe piaciuto, e infatti è stato così. Siamo circa 200 anni dopo le vicende del secondo libro, e la differenza si nota! Amo il modo in cui l’autore riesce a modificare il modo in cui le persone parlano e pensano in base all’epoca in cui si svolgono le vicende. Il modo in cui si intrecciano le vicende storiche con quelle della storia è perfetto, creando una storia capace di catturare l’attenzione del lettore. Ci sono dei colpi di scena, anche se non sono abbondanti. E nonostante questo, le 900 pagine si fanno leggere davvero molto velocemente. Descrizioni, pensieri, personaggi, tutti descritti in maniera magistrale, cosa che ci permette di farci un’idea precisa di quello che sta succedendo. In true Kingsbridge style, we follow several families over a couple generations, taking in their personal relationships and historical developments at the time. This book covers the Luddites, reform of the legal system and the Napoleonic War. I was fully absorbed in every action of all the characters and I struggled to put it down. I am just genuinely obsessed with anything written by Ken Follet. His characters are so well written. He is the type of author who can make you love deeply and hate aggressively. Though caution to the faint of heart because some scenes are very graphic. That being said if you can get through the bad parts the end is always happy.
