Waahhooo! I made it out of the house for a walk up a hill! It’s been 22 days since I was last out on a ‘proper’ walk… perhaps my longest break from the hills in years! I was starting to feel like a caged animal… between being poorly and work commitments I’ve not managed more than a few evening walks along the prom. Today though, I had to prioritise a walk. I was too restless and irritable, my early warning signs that stress is creeping in, but fortunately I know my cure! Also when the paths or trail is super bumpy, rutted, icy, chaotic, I love that too, it’s more fun to navigate, more of a challenge! That’s why most of us love mountain biking! When the rest of your life feels like that however, and you are barely clinging on to the handle bars, or the ice is cracking beneath your feet, it’s not such a good feeling. New paths can be exciting, or they can be scary and uncertain, and it’s okay for them to be either. First of all, as much as I love my new GooglePixel4, these were shot on my Iphone6! 🔹 These were taken on our first experimental trip around Derwent Water with Leo at one month old. In September Holly began a solo hike of the Te Araroa, New Zealand - 3000 kilometers from the top of North Island to the bottom of South Island. “During my walk I aim to promote sustainable outdoor recreation as well as low waste living." With Winter fast approaching, what could be better than this? ❄❄❄ "My first taste of winter! For a while, Ben Nevis has been on the bucket list for me and my dad. This year we began to discuss it more and more, going back and forth trying to decide if we should go for it and when the best time would be. Summer came and went and we put the idea to bed. Until this week, we decided it would be the best way for my dad to spend his birthday, out on the snowy mountains. We set off in the dark and couldn’t have started with better views of a clear starry sky! As the light came up we caught a beautiful sunrise clipping all the other peaks around us! Once we reached the top, we thought we had already been blessed enough, until we then caught an epic cloud inversion which just totally made the day! I’m back at work today; thrown in at the deep end with a 13 hour shift after 11 days off! . . Work can be tough, stressful, emotionally challenging and at times down right frightening. . .
