The whole place is made of shiny dark wood paired with marble, rattan, and leather. The mirrors on the ceiling provide additional depth and the dimmed lights create intimacy. In case you missed it, I completed my goal of reading 50 books in 2019!! What I liked about this goal: I love reading but sometimes it falls to the end of the priority list so making it a big goal helped me prioritize it!! What I didn't like about this goal: It did feel like almost too much (until I really discovered audiobooks through my library app) and so sometimes I was reading just to finish the goal and not because I really wanted to. What I'm going to do going forward for 2020: I'm going to loosely say 30 but not be super focused on it and going to read more for pleasure. Excited to dig into more books this year! #50booksin2019 #cinnamonwolfereads #goodbooks #whattoreadnext #audiobooks #bookshelf #books #onmyshelf

What a writer @yuval_noah_harari is. Books that make you think, without fail. I thought this would be a collection of essays rather than a single thesis, but the thread of relevance runs through them; these are our key challenges in 21C. I found here a lucid exposition on the issues of terrorism; immigration; technological disruption; civilization; justice and much else. Yuval is a historian who is so much more. He also meditates deeply, and his final two chapters, on meaning, and meditation, could only have been written by him. One of my top reads of 2019. #yuvalnoahharari #21lessonsforthe21stcentury #books #reading #meaning #50booksin2019 #50booksin2020

I debated whether or not to include this in my 50 books for 2019, but then I was like, "hello Cinnamon!! It's the biggest and most important book of all. AND you read it this year! So of course it should be included!!" Paul and I officially read through the entire Bible (not just the NT) during this year. We did it by using @thebibleproject plan through the @youversion app and we loved it b/c they include a lot of really helpful videos throughout to help give more context behind each book. This can be super helpful especially with some of the books in the OT. We learned a TON. It was great to experience some of the books that maybe I've read verses here and there but never the entire thing and overall just to be in the Word daily was really great. Of course this is one of the most impactful and controversial books out there. But ultimately because of it's message, my life has been forever changed in the absolute best way possible. Perfect book to round out my list for the year!! . . . . . #50booksin2019 #cinnamonwolfereads #goodbooks #whattoreadnext #audiobooks #bookshelf #books #onmyshelf #theholybible #thebible #Godistheauthor

Really only decided on this one because everyone talked about it forever and it was available in my library app to listen too. I read Eat, Pray, Love forever ago and kind of half loved it and half hated it, but wanted to give another of her books a try since I've heard so many positive things. It's probably a little too "woo" for me, but I did really like some of the concepts she shared particularly around your creativity needing to exist in this world even it's just for you. I also liked her ideas around inspiration and how we don't give our inspiration enough time and breathing room to take shape. I liked more about this than I didn't, and I think for any creative it's a good read that will help you think more about your creative work in a positive way. I'd recommend reading to highlight or listening was fine as well. . . . . . #50booksin2019 #cinnamonwolfereads #goodbooks #whattoreadnext #audiobooks #bookshelf #books #onmyshelf #bigmagic #bigmagicbook #elizabethgilbert

This one started strong and kind of fizzled out in the end. I also listened instead of read, which for fiction books is not my favorite thing to do. If you do decide to go for this one, I would recommend reading instead of listening. Its a decent story and really a unique premise but again...it kind of felt like the author didn't know where it was going when it started and just picked a random conclusion and went with that. Oh well!! . . . . . #50booksin2019 #cinnamonwolfereads #goodbooks #whattoreadnext #audiobooks #bookshelf #books #onmyshelf #thechainbook #adrianmckinty

My goal was to read #50bookswithjess in 2019. I made it to 46 (not to mention the countless children’s books I read daily 🤣). I wanted to give you a top 5, but a top 6 will have to do. 🥰 My top 6 favorite books of 2019 🥰 Where the Crawdads Sing, Delia Owens The German Midwife, Mandy Robotham November 9, Colleen Hoover A Woman is No Man, Etaf Rum Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine, Gail Honeyman Daisy Jones & the Six, Taylor Jenkins Reid FYI, I’m not a literary snob, I like most genres, I appreciate a good story, I love a good surprise, & I admire good writing. I’m not a critic, just your average mom who likes to read to escape this crazy life ♥️ I’ve also found that reading is an incredible way to connect with people- and that’s what I LOVE most!!!! Messages, texts, comments and real life conversations about books are crazy life-giving. I don’t know why- but man, there is POWER in sharing about books. I LOVE when you all share what you’ve read, your thoughts, and what you suggest for new reads!! I have an album where I post my thoughts of the books I’ve read, as well as the book description; and a few of us are starting a Facebook book club We’d love to have you join us ♥️ Link in my bio! #readersofinstagram #booksharing #reading #50booksin2019 #justamomwholikestoread #readtoescape #daisyjonesandthesix #eleanoroliphantiscompletelyfine #awomanisnoman #wherethecrawdadssing #thegermanmidwife @colleenhoover @authordeliaowens @etafrum @tjenkinsreid @mandyrobotham @gailhoneyman

The Woman in Cabin 10. Book number 50. This book was an easy one to finish out the year on. As I got closer to the end I didn’t want it to be over. We got home today from our Christmas travels and this sucker was in our mail too. After reading this book, I’m not so sure I want to get myself locked up on a cruise ship any time soon but my bags are packed so there’s always that... . This story was like most thrillers. It had some slow moments and then as it got going it was really good. I had no idea who was the killer and the ending took me by surprise as well. If you haven’t read this one, you should. . I’m still struggling with audiobooks. I don’t love the format as much as others do. I would have enjoyed this even more as a paper copy but sometimes there isn’t time for that. . Did you read this book? Did you enjoy it as much as I did? What did you read to wrap up 2019? #thewomanincabin10 #ruthware #suspense #murder #whodunit #50booksin2019 #whatwill2020bring #readmorebooks

12/31/2019, 10:29:09 PM

So, there we have it. The year has come to an end (nearly) and 55 books have been read. A few could have been missed, but most have been great. ... Here are six highlights - you can guess which award goes to which book: - Best novel - Most inspiring book to make you want to live life well - Book that will challenge your perspective the most - Best business related book - Best faith based book - Book that made me laugh the most Thanks to @scouts @sherylsandberg @bcwlindsay @frequentsee @johngrishamauthor and @amateuradam And for next year, I am producing a “list of betterment” that contains a number of classics, a number of books to re-read and some business books (plus all of those I just got for Christmas and Birthday). I don’t have a target for any number of books in 2020 but will keep posting them on here, even if only for me to keep a record. If you have any suggestions for “betterment” let me know. #50booksinayear #50booksin2019

She Speaks by Yvette Cooper 📖 8/10🎖My final book in the #50booksin2019 challenge and a really important one. ✅ Do read for feminist empowerment and remarkable speeches. ❌ Don’t read if you don’t like collections, this book is just lots of speeches with a foreword from the author.

And she’s only gone and done it - #50booksin2019 completed ✅ This summer I was throwing my book weight around in an airport suggesting books for my friends to read. Two random ladies over heard and asked me for my recommendations and then told me I should write a blog. Well, I’m far to lazy for that but I did create @thebookreport_ so if you fancy seeing the 50 books I’ve read this year then feel free to head over and boost my ego.

I did it! 😤Forced myself to read this book in 3 days, despite the alluring charm of youtube and webtoon (recently, it's hard for me to fight the tempation of watching youtube videos or reading comics😣). The 37th book of 2019 and I think one of the funniest novels I've ever read in my life. The author's (Jonas Jonasson) writing style, in my opinion, is similar to how Andrea Hirata writes. Hilarious yet full of hidden sarcasms, critics, and cool moral values. If you think that Andrea Hirata's writings are amusing, then I recommend you to read this book. Or vice versa😙. I giggled a lot while reading this book. I also learnt a lot about Sweden and many small chunks of history facts, since the main character is 100 years old. One of the most interesting things about the novel is how a big part of the story is set in Indonesia, specifically Bali. And kudos to the author--I suspect the author has went and stayed in Indonesia for some time at least once--for portraying the "uniqueness" of Indonesia's "amazingly professional" system pretty dang good.👍 Some quotes that made me smile from the book: "Revenge isn't good. Revenge's like politics, one thing always leads to another until bad has become worse, and worse has become worst." ___ "Life worked in such a way that right was not necessarily right, but rather what the person in charge said was right." ___ "It had been exciting, the entire journey, but nothing lasts for ever, except possibly general stupidity." ___ "Politics was often not only unnecessary, but sometimes also unnecessarily complicated." ___ "Indonesia is the country where everything is possible." PS.: I initially read this book just because it's thinner to be brought to IKEA than the Michelle Obama book, but it's very entertaining! #read #book #50booksin2019 #uus2019books

#55 of 50: sneaking one last book in that came in my stocking this year. Having watched the Gavin and Stacey Christmas special on Christmas Eve, and realised in the last few months of the year that not everyone immediately understands the use of “Coolio Iglesias” and”Sergio Ramos” in day-to-day vocabulary, this felt like a fitting end to the year. This book is a bit out of date now, but a thoroughly enjoyable insight from Salvation Army boy to who he is now (or at least up to a few years ago). #50booksinayear #50booksin2019 So there we have it - 50 books (or more accurately 55) #romeodone

My Best Books of 2019 FICTION Convenience Store Woman By Sayaka Murata A quirky novel about people who are different. The Dragonfly Sea by Yvonne Adhiambo Owuor A literary heavyweight: demanding, intricate, poetic. West by Carys Davies A fable-like rendition of obsession, quests and relationships. The Shining by Stephen King A classic, superb in its depiction of dread as a father turns on his own family. Asymmetry by Lisa Halliday Clever metafiction. The History of Love by Nicole Krauss A wise book about loss and renewal, superbly written. State of Wonder by Ann Patchett A mesmerising tale about science, civilisation and exploitation set in the deep Amazon. No One Writes to the Colonel by Gabriel Garcia Marquez A short masterwork about ageing, poverty and dignity. Exhalation by Ted Chiang ‘Thinky sci-fi’, short sories by a unique writer. The Buried Giant by Kazuo Ishiguro Just brilliant. The deceptions of guilt and memory, placed in Dark Ages England. NON-FICTION Essentialism by Greg McKeown The power of focus and of making choices. For true strategists. How to Be a Stoic by Massimo Pigliucci Ancient wisdom, updated for today’s world. Nine Lies About Work by Marcus Buckingham and Ashley Goodall Punchy and contrarian, a myth-buster about the workplace. Personality by Daniel Nettle An expert offers a readable but rigorous explanation of what makes us, us. Novacene by James Lovelock A goodbye note from an eminent scientist about what lies in wait for mankind and Earth. The Infinite Game by Simon Sinek How business looks very different to those who treat it as a game without end, rather than a brief grab-and-run. 21 Lessons for the 21st Century by Yuval Noah Harari Another epic from Yuval, about our century and its deep challenges. How Democracy Ends by David Runciman Don’t assume the democracy we know is inevitable. Being Mortal by Atul Gawande How medicine subverts natural ageing.

Ok, as my reading library closes for 2019 (no I'm not squashing one more book in to make it to my goal of 50, I've thought about it, but it wouldn't be a worthwhile read) yes I am gutted I didn't reach my goal, but it was MY goal and now I have something to aim for in 2020. I am really proud I got through so many varied texts this year; being a teacher I feel like I never get to do much pleasurable reading and being an ENGLISH teacher wide reading is so important and I was competing against no one it was just a little goal to set myself and keep me on task to make sure I was feeling something I LOVED. 📚📚📚 And what doesn't say I LOVE LOVE LOVE reading than book-themed bunting and a candy bar at your 30th birthday in a mustard dress (a little ode to Belle from Beauty and the Beast....the quintessential book loving protagonist!) 👌📖 . Set your own goals for the new year, but please make sure somewhere in there is a book goal. . “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”

📖Text Time!📖 #book 49/50 was Margaret Atwood's 'The Testaments' and it is right up there as one of my favourite reads all year....I might even call it....favourite reads....period. When you pair this with 'The Handmaid's Tale', the sequel to the 1986 literary classic there is just so much married together and so much answered... and talk about building up the suspense...this sequel was 35 years in the making. Worth it? PRAISE BE 💚💚💚 yes! I think what I really loved about this was the array of characters in this text that you're exposed to in Gilead and the perspective of characters in the midst of an established society, rather than early days Gilead, when it was first formed in the first text. I also really appreciated the character development of Aunt Lydia, her backstory was great and I really appreciated her character what an....I don't even know! Flawed, circumstantial, heroic monster! She certainly makes you question....what would I do? I just love @therealmargaretatwood I am so so excited to see her speak in February next year and I while I am 1 book shy of my reading goal for this year I am soooooooo glad I finished with an AMAZING book. No wondering this one the @thebookerprizes for 2019. 5/5. 🌌🌌🌌🌌🌌

#54 of 50: the fourth and final recommendation from @hopeandginger, which came with a health warning, given my inability to watch any form of medical procedure without nausea. This was a really fascinating insight into a working world that most of us never knowingly interact with, tracking well known disasters with which many will be familiar. A thoroughly enjoyable read - the accolades speak for themselves. #50booksin2019 #50booksinayear

12/30/2019, 3:09:27 PM

#53 of 50: this recommendation from @pete.coxy has probably been the slowest progressing book of the year, not because it is not excellent, but because I had to frequently re-read pages/ sections / chapters in order to work out what was going on. By the end, I reckon I understood around 75% of the book, which I will take. A really interesting (sort-of accessible) insight into some of the make-up of our planet and universe - why stuff happens the way that it does. Sadly too often (generally though misunderstanding) science and faith are viewed as mutually exclusive alternatives. Whilst the authors did not specifically set out to achieve this, for me this book was really helpful in bringing the two together. #50booksinayear #50booksin2019

12/29/2019, 8:31:25 PM

📖Text'The Time!📖 #book 48/50 and it is my last #audiobook for the year. Alexandre Dumas' 'The Three Muskateers' what can I say about this text? I finished it....28 hours of my life I can't refund. I can't believe that something can be created from the same author as 'The Count of Monte Cristo', one of my ALL TIME favourite texts and film adaptations, can make ' The Three Muskateers'...well I can, and he did, and it was boring. In its own right it had fighting, and death, and romance, and vengeance, and sub-plots, and double betrayals....but I was just not into it, it was very dialogue heavy, very formal and just not relatable in terms of themes, perhaps because it was more adventure based and not as dark as 'The Count of Monte Cristo' but I am just thankful I finally powered through it and get to count it as one of my reads for this year. Phew! Two to go! And three days... ...I don't know......🤔🤔🤔🤔 2/5🌌

New book review: The Assistant by Mani Mann 📚📚
Summary:
Jesse runs a multimillion dollar company until her father passes away from a tragic disease. Jesse wishes to take time away from the strenuous job to spend time with her family. She goes through an extensive interview process to find the perfect assistant for her husband, Emory, and to help as a nanny for her son. Charlotte joins their family as Emory's assistant to learn the ins and outs of their family. The chapters change the point of view between Emory, Jesse, and Charlotte throughout the novel.
📚My Thoughts:📚
It's hard to say anything regarding this book without giving away the proceedings and ending of the book.
I was speechless at the end. Every assumption I made really was incorrect.
After reading this, many people said it had similarities to Verity. So after reading this book, I took on the feat of attacking Verity. Finally finished my 43rd book of the year! #dexterinthedark by #jefflindsay This was a stressful read!!! But in a good way! I love the twists the books have compared to the series. I did find the ending was quite rushed though this time and it didn't grip me as much as the first two, but still a really enjoyable read! 7/10 #dexter #dexterseries #dextermorgan #darkpassenger #orionbooks #serialkiller #crimethriller #crimefiction #bookstagrammer #bookstagram #booksofinstagram #reading #novel #43rdbookof2019 #50booksin2019 #fiction

Of this I have no doubt: a hundred years from today Kazuo Ishiguro will be revered as one of the all-time great novelists. This is because he is a true original. He writes in a way no one else can. The prose is gentle and straightforward, stilted even, yet deliberately so, because it is disguising an underlying turmoil. His narrators are often maintaining a studious facade in order to cope with what cannot be uttered. On the face of it, The Buried Giant is a departure. It depicts a distant England of ogres, dragons and pixies. But don’t be fooled: this is no fantasy novel. It is a bold leap into an era of which little is known, but the personal terrain is very familiar: the repression of memory, the problem of identity. Axl and Beatrice are an elderly couple, afflicted with selective amnesia. Try as they might, they just can’t remember certain things. And more bizarrely, nor can their countrymen. They set off on a quest to find their long-lost son and to lift ‘the mist’ that clouds their memories once and for all. On the way they encounter strange creatures, warriors, monks, knights - and the dragon that may be causing the mass dementia. If you’re a fan of the author, this gripping story is vintage Ishiguro. It is about how people deal with war and slaughter, about the tales and deceptions that are our coping mechanisms. One of the hallmarks of a great book is not only what it teaches you, but what it provokes you to learn after the final page. This work of fiction led me to discover more about about the origins of English identity, and the human psyche, than whole textbooks would have conveyed. It is nonethless a wonderful work of art, an allegory for the modern world set in a faraway time. It is also a deep description of love and companionship. The final chapter, when all becomes clear, is devastating. Despite all the mists and mysteries we encounter, we realise that we knew all along what this story was about, and that it could only have ended in the way that it did.

The 36th and the best book I read this year for sure. This book is also the best physical gift I recieved this year, thanks bro @m.abdurrahman_bedur ! I've respected @michelleobama for some time before I read this book, because of her attitude and her messages. Thanks to this book, I respect and adore her even more now. Reading this book is like watching many genres of hollywood movies; drama, romance, history, comedy, etc. It reminds me of The Help, Akeela and the Bees, Chasing Liberty, My Girl, some K-dramas, etc. It made me laugh, it got me motivated, ashamed (reminds me how I haven't tried hard enough), but mostly it made me tear up BIG time. I learnt (some more) about so many people from this book; Nelson Mandela (didn't even know he died already) and his wife, Barack Obama (I didn't know that he's freakin' smart!), Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ella Fitzgerald (read this book while listening to her songs one time), also Alma Thomas and her beautiful paintings. I discovered new interesting things, like the Selma march (will watch the movie asap!), the huge US presidential security protocol, how extremely more messed up the gun control problem in the US (waaay more than I initially thought of), the Buckingham palace compared to the White House, etc. The number one reason of why I am amazed by her so much is because she started from a low point, as in she was not from the "priviledged" family, which represents most of human being I know (not priviledged). So she inspires me more than any present woman I know. I screencaptured some quotes that I love from this book, but won't translate. One quote that I like from her is the famous one, "When they go low, we go high."❤ PS: won't reach 50 books this year, but that's OK, this book is thick, so.. 🙈 PPS: she publishes a new book already and I just finished this one.. 😫 #book #read #50booksin2019 #uus2019books

Bok 35/50 (Lol, jeg veit) Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. Muligens den beste Harry Potter-boka. En av de beste jaffal. Endrer mening hele tida uanz. #50booksin2019 #ilovebooks #harrypotter #reading #kos #hygge

#52 of 50: before I picked up this book, I knew nothing of Transforming Lives for Good. The name seems to be a positive aspiration, but as with many things in life, it is only when you get into real stories with real people that anything actually matters. An encouraging and challenging story of a 20 year journey impacting the lives of young people for whom, often through no fault of their own - a product of their circumstances - continued education was an unlikely prospect. This is a story of hope, of action and of results. #50booksinayear #50booksin2019

#goodreadschallenge2019 finished! This is my third year taking part and the largest number of books I've ever logged myself reading in a year. I'm super chuffed with it, even if I know it's partly because of starting reading some quicker material like graphic novels and short stories. Although compared to my favoured 500+ page fantasy epics most books are shorter and I did still read a few sizable books this year. Next year I'm going to focus on reading some big fantasy series I have borrowed so I can reduce the amount of books I need to move to a new house, so I'll be setting a smaller target as seeing how I go. How's your reading been this year?

New book review 🎄🎄Date Night by Samantha Hayes 📚📚Summary: Can you imagine coming home from a date night and your babysitter missing?? Libby and her husband return from a date night to find that their babysitter is missing without a trace. Does it have anything to do with the threatening note that Libby received on her car days prior? This novel is a suspenseful thriller leading down different twists and turns to find out what happened to Sasha and does the possible adultery by Libby’s husband have any involvement in Sasha’s disappearance. 📚My Thoughts:📚 I listened to this on Whispersync on Audible and read on the Kindle. This was a quick paced page turner. I was pleasantly surprised at how suspenseful this book was and how it kept me engaged. Samantha Hayes did a great job of creating the suspenseful aura throughout the entire novel. I definitely did not see the ending coming! Very surprising twist at the end. #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #reader #readingtime #50booksin2019 #igbooks #igreads #pittsburghblogger #booklove #reading #reader #readabook #bookworm #bookaholic # #bookblog #bookblogger #booklife #booklover #booksbooksbooks #instabook #thrillers #winterreading #samathahayes #datenight #bookreview #newbookreview

📖Text Time!📖 #book 46/50...stories collected by Alvin Schwartz and drawings by Stephen Gammell; 'Scary Stories to tell in the dark' (this was actually three books in one; 'Scary stories to tell in the dark', 'more scary stories to tell in the dark', 'scary stories 3: more tales to chill your bones'....but I am only counting it as one, because it came as the one book...and I'm not that desperate to reach 50 books....yet...I still have time 😉) . Anyway, 'Scary stories' is good...if you're 12, which I'm not, this will be awesome when I need to terrify my nephew and Goosebumps just isn't cutting it and I REALLY NEED something so he can't sleep at night, but for me....not so much. . This has recently been made into a film and I can see then inspiration and I also like the research behind the ubrabn legends, but reading this now as an adult, it doesn't have the same impact, but definitely scary for young kids. . Also the illustrations are fantastic and add to the overall tone of the stories, loved them, very creepy. . 3/5🌌

On my 50th book of the year and thought I’d end the year with a bang. “The Raven Boys” has been on my TBR ever since I started watching @booksandlala on YouTube earlier this year. 📖Text Time!📖 #book 45/50 for the year and smashed this bad boy out by the pool yesterday and under a blanket today (MELBOURNE) . Madeline Miller's 'Circe' was pretty good, had an interesting twist on Greek Mythology (I did a bit of Greek Mythology studies at uni and it was kind of nice to be so familiar with the tales in the narrative) and it was good to see it from the female POV as women are often physically and emotionally pillaged and employed as bartering tools in such tales, so it was good to have a protagonist hold her own, though Circe was at times still naive and frustrating....but that's what drives the plot🤷‍♀️...and it was sort of a romance to some extent...so.....OF COURSE she does dumb stuff....everyone does because emotions.....gross...; but anyway I enjoyed it, it was well written and I enjoyed the undercurrent of witchcraft throughout, I am really enjoying texts with this theme in it...and if that means I have to endure a smidge of romance well...meh...now back to our regular reading of HORROR!!! 4/5🌌

TBR to finish my year to a round 50 books. I didn't make any reading goals this year but I just counted and I'm at 46. Here are the books I plan to finish the year reading: ✨ Confessions of a Bookseller by Shaun Bythell ✨The Year of the Monkey by Patti Smith ✨On Christmas by Gyles Brandreth ✨ Dog Poems I think it's achievable and I have a couple of backups on my kindle if I don't want to take the bigger ones on holiday! #tbr #50booksin2019 #upsidedownstack #poetry #christmasreading #bookstagram #readingiscool #booksaboutbooks #pattismith

I heard lots of great things about this book and while it started strong, about half way through I got a little tired of it and honestly thought about not finishing. BUT I pushed through to the end. Super interesting to hear the behind the scenes of a lot of Disney and especially about the inception and beginning stages of Disney +. If you like memoirs and/or Disney you'll probably be motivated to finish this one! . . . . . #50booksin2019 #cinnamonwolfereads #goodbooks #whattoreadnext #audiobooks #bookshelf #books #onmyshelf

New book review 📚📚 Summary: Avery Greer lives in a small beachtown in Maine that encompasses two worlds: the wealthy vacationers and the locals. Avery is a local girl living in the town when she meets Sadie Loman who comes from a wealthy family owning many properties in town. Every summer Sadie and Avery have fun and are together every night. Until one summer when Sadie is found dead. Some people are quick to blame Avery, although it is ruled a suicide. Avery works hard to try to clear her name. 📚My Thoughts:📚
I read this back in September and am just getting to my review.
This book is less of a thriller and more of a mystery. I love how Megan Miranda creates the realistic scene and environment of a small town. I read two of Miranda's previous books, and I have enjoyed her previous books more than this one.
Don't get me wrong; this is a good mystery but it is pretty predictable.
It would be good as a quick read for a vacation or weekend getaway because it is an easy read.

New book review: Escape Room by Megan Goldin 📚📚 Summary:📚
Jules, Sylvia, Vincent, and Sam are required to attend a "team building" activity that begins in an elevator. The foursome believes it is an escape room activity. They work in finance in a firm on Wall Street. The novel examines each character's background specifically throughout separate chapters to let the reader know what happened on the journey to get to this point. The major question that arises is "Where is Sara Hall?" Sara was an employee at their firm that disappeared after leaving their firm. Throughout their "escape room" activity, the reader finds out more and more information about Sara and her experience with the firm.
📚My Thoughts:📚
I really liked this book! It was a bit predictable and there are a lot of clues and foreshadowing to let the reader know what is going to happen, but I enjoyed the ride of suspense! It really made me question corporate America and if this is the way corporations are run! The author really kept me on my toes by writing an engrossing storyline that I couldn't stop reading!
