🎥 Braveheart (1995) 🔽 Winner of 5 Oscars, including Best Picture, Braveheart is Mel Gibson’s crowning achievement and a historical epic about Sir William Wallace, a brave Scottish warrior who led his army in the first war of Scottish independence. Although many pointed lots of inaccuracies, we can’t deny the beauty of its natural landscapes, since it was in great part shot in the actual Highlands. Here they built a fort and some houses on the same style as the ones in St Kilda, a small island off the Scottish coast. The crew spent 6 weeks shooting on location, starting on June 1994. The main area used to recreate the village of Lanark was Glen Nevis Valley, near Fort William. The task wasn’t easy since it is one of the highest precipitation zones in Europe. So I can imagine lots of umbrellas and waterproof jackets off cam! This is where most of the first hour of film takes place. We see Wallace’s early years, his romance with Murron (played by Catherine McCormack) and the attack on the village, where he slits the magistrate’s throat (played by Malcolm Tierney). Lots of other sequences were filmed in nearby places, like for example on the other side of the river. The guy from @going2themovies has a great video guide and covers most of (if not all) the locations from Braveheart. After shooting, the set was dismantled. ・ ・ 🎬おうち映画2023年No.100🎬 『Dangerous Beauty』 （DANGEROUS BEAUTY・ A DESTINY OF HER OWN／1998） ・ 鑑賞日：2023.12.29（Amazon Prime） 今年100本目のおうち映画。 全然投稿できてなくて不完全燃焼気味が続いてますが、キリのいいところでとりあえず投稿！ 劇場公開時に映画館で鑑賞して以来、ずーっと観たかった作品。 配信終了前にやっと観ました。 当時は『娼婦ベロニカ』のタイトルでの公開でした（このタイトル、B級っぽくてイマイチなのよね、正直、タイトルで損したと思う）。 配信時にタイトルが変わってしまうと（というか原題に変更？）見つけられなくて…早20年…😅 観た当時はたぶん号泣したはずなんだけど…。私も階段を昇ってきたんだなって思いましたよ。 さて、こちらを初めて観たとき、『高級娼婦』の存在を知りました。この作品の舞台は中世ベネチア、“女性は男性の所有物“と見なされていたと。そんな時代にも強く生きる女性はいたわけです。 ベロニカは実在の人物だったようで、この方について出版された1990年代の本をもとに製作されたっぽいのですが、Wikipediaなどを調べてみると、やっぱりちょーっと映画とご本人の生涯は違うのかなぁ（きっとわかってないこともたくさんあるのでしょう）、という感じでした。 衣装は豪華、主演のキャサリン・マコーマックは美人で目の保養になるし、新しいことを知るきっかけにもなるという意味で観る価値はあると思います。 あと、ブレイク前のナオミ・ワッツが、“おっ"という役どころで出演、印象的です。 （ちなみに日本での公開は『エリザベス』と同時期だったらしく、それと比較したら、まあ見劣りしちゃうよなぁって感じました） allcinema解説より -——— 1580年代初頭のベネチアを舞台に、実在の詩人ベロニカ・フランコの華麗な半生を映画化したラブ・ストーリー。 1583年、商業都市として栄えたベネチアだが、女性は男性の所有物としてしか扱われていなかった。ベロニカは青年貴族マルコを愛していたが、身分の違いを理由に結婚できなかった。当時のイタリアでは、お金に恵まれない女性に読書や教養人としての道が開かれ、特権階級の男性とも接触でき、大金を手にできる道はコーティザン(高級娼婦）になることしかなかった……。 -——— #DangerousBeauty #娼婦ベロニカ #ADESTINYOFHEROWN #キャサリンマコーマック #CatherineMcCormack #ルーファスシーウェル #RufusSewell #オリヴァープラット #OliverPlatt #ナオミワッツ #NaomiWatts #マーシャルハースコヴィッツ #MarshallHerskovitz #映画好きな人と繋がりたい
