Author stack! My introduction to Christopher Moore was "Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal," and immediately loved his style. I've read nearly everything he's written and highly recommend them as light comedy reads. Most of his books take place in the same small town but are good stand-alones. Pick one up!

L’info ne vous aura pas échappé, on célèbre les 150 ans de la naissance de l’impressionnisme. Expos en pagaille, docs Arte, hors-série Télérama, de quoi s’en mettre plein les mirettes. Et pour sortir des sentiers battus : Sacré Bleu de Christopher Moore. Vous ne le connaissez pas ? Veinards ! Vous allez pouvoir découvrir des romans uniques en leur genre, mixant avec audace et jubilation histoire, gaudriole et fantastique. Alors elle ne dit pas que ça peut plaire à tout le monde ; c’est même sûr que non vu la propension de l’auteur à partir loin dans le délire (à son apogée dans Le lézard lubrique de Melancholy Cove, excellent, mais déconseillé pour commencer). Pour une approche en douceur, il y a L’agneau, soit la vie de Jésus racontée par son pote d’enfance, le 13e apôtre ; brillant, iconoclaste et très drôle ; il y a aussi Un blues de coyote (son chouchou), originellement dans la Noire de Gallimard, un bijou ! Whether you find it sacrilegious, hilarious, or both, Lamb is truly a masterpiece of creativity. Filling in the significant gap left out of the Gospels regarding Jesus’ childhood through early adulthood, this irreverent take on Christ, via his best friend Biff, has made me appreciate the Bible far more than any church or synagogue. For those observant enough to find this hysterical book blasphemous, I encourage you to look beyond the more off-color liberties taken to the core of the story; that of loyalty, trust, and, most importantly, friendship. Note de lecture : ❤️🤍🤍🤍🤍 J’aime quand le polar rencontre l’art. Ouvrir ce roman semblait donc un choix naturel, mais j’aurais dû m’intéresser de plus près à l’intrigue, me méfier de cette incursion du fantastique. Je dois reconnaître que l’auteur propose un roman très fouillé et que la postface prouve à quel point l’oeuvre est documentée, mais je suis malheureusement passée complètement à côté de cette histoire qui avait pourtant tout pour me séduire. L’intrigue s’ouvre sur l’enquête qui suit l’assassinat de Van Gogh. Henri Toulouse-Lautrec se lance et ensuite nous retrouvons tous les peintres du Paris de la fin du 19e siècle : Pissarro, Manet, Monet, Renoir, Whistler, Degas… Je n’ai pas retrouvé la délicatesse des tableaux des Impressionnistes dans cette intrigue loufoque truffée de dialogues grivois et déjantés. Tout est bien écrit et recherché, mais je n’ai pas adhéré au concept. May 2023's trip was to the holy land, Ancient Israel, while discussing Lamb by Christopher Moore. We learned that the food- while pretty, was not really suited to our tastes. Which is totally fine given that many of the dishes were made with SUPER old timey recipes so seasoning & such was quite limited. And keeping in the spirit of the book, we definitely broke some holy laws regarding food. The unholy menu: Mujadarra - a lentil & bulgur pilaf type dish. It was really good and I'll probably make this one again. Pomegrate Glazed Chicken served over rice - not bad but definitely lacking something Labneh- this one I may play around with some more Pomegrate and Poached Apricots in a Honey Syrup- dried apricots are not good! Unleavened Bread- meh, this one was my fault. I made it too early. Eppure è felice, perché dopo secoli, avrà la possibilità di raccontare del suo migliore amico e di tutte le avventure che hanno compiuto insieme e che pare, nessun vangelo abbia saputo o voluto riportare. Questa è la vera storia di Gesù o almeno "Il vangelo secondo Biff, amico d'infanzia di Gesù" di Christopher Moore. Christopher Moore è un autore che non puoi definire in nessun altro modo se non geniale. Attraverso la figura simbolo del Cristianesimo, appunto la figura di Gesù di Nazareth, Moore racconta la storia, dalle origini fino ai 33 anni di Gesù, riempiendo, in maniera assolutamente irrealistica ma assai evocativa, anche quei vuoti lasciati nella narrazione. Los personajes son tan random (el grupo de compañeros de trabajo del humano protagonista _a cada cual más cafre_, la pareja de polis a la vieja usanza cigarrillo en boca, y el vagabundo entrañable que se cree emperador y cazavampiros acompañado de sus fieles soldados caninos y compañeros de calle😍) que hacen de la trama una historia redonda y entretenida. Aunque ciertamente es tan raruna en algunos puntos y algo carca en ciertas conversaciones que eso me ha saturado un poco a veces 😅 💛Me encantó que la voz cantante sea la de la chica protagonista, que se muestra fuerte, madura y con las ideas claras en todo momento mientras se esfuerza en encontrar a quién la ha convertido y lucha por sobrevivir con su nueva condición. Es maravilloso ver su adaptación y cómo descubre sus características vampíricas. Y el chico humano prota es entrañable siendo más joven que ella, un payasete, un poco desastre y cómo acaban enamorados. Me han parecido una pareja muy way. 🩸Sin duda es una lectura súper recomendable para quienes disfruten del género pero quieran encontrar una historia desenfadada y divertida, con la calidad y el humor tan particular que caracteriza al autor. 🤷🏼‍♀️No me gustó el título; ya que la madre de la prota aparece muy poco como para que sea ella quien dé nombre a la novela. This is one of the funniest books I’ve ever read, that had me laughing out loud and marveling at how smart, creative, and irreverent it is. It’s one of Jon’s favorite books — he’s the one who recommended it to me! The first time I read it was on a flight to New York and I loved it so much that I cancelled all my plans that night and stayed in my hotel room and read. What’s the coolest bookstore you’ve been to? Or Have you read Christopher Moore? . When we were in Durango for President’s Day Weekend, I found this amazing used bookstore in an old bank building. They even had 2 vaults as rooms for the books! And I found a signed first edition with blue edges that I just had to have. . I ended up listening to the audio for Serpent of Venice this weekend. It’s just as ridiculous and chaotic as one might expect of a mashup of Othello, The Merchant of Venice, and The Cask of Amontillado. While not as funny as Lamb (my personal fav), it was highly entertaining. *I will say if you have any issues with lots of blasphemy, Moore is not the author for you. UN TRABAJO MUY SUCIO por Christopher Moore. Mi primer libro del año, mi primera vez leyendo al autor. Me reí bastante, y también me hizo reflexionar. Considerando que es un libro que trata sobre la muerte y la pérdida de los seres queridos, creo que la comedia (y la fantasía) hacen que sea mucho más liviano y llevadero de lo que sería en realidad si fuera “serio”.
