bookish(ish) thoughts ੈ✩‧₊˚ FIRST OFF USERNAME UPDATE WHO?! I changed my username from tinyreadssbooks to thebookfaes 🕊️🤍✨ Why? I wanted a unique name that reflected my interests (romantasy books, of course). It also has a double meaning - “the book phase”. I often say my hobby is collecting hobbies, and this username is a nod to that 🤭 I also am (finally) inching towards having my name tied to this account. I honestly was a little embarrassed by the idea of someone I knew finding my bookstagram. Something about people knowing I was trying to do this — sharing my opinions, making content — was very nerve-wracking for me. I kept thinking, “What if they make fun of me?” And although I’m still using a nickname, I realized am EXCITED to share more of who I am with you all. This is OUR safe corner of the internet, and I don’t mind if those people discover it. Because I am proud of you, my bookish friends, and the creativity we share. Hello friends 🪻 This is my wrap up for the month of April: 📖 In terms of reading I had a slow month with only 1 finished book, now I can see why Flowerheart is included in every spring book recommendations, I wanted more in some areas but overall it is a good read for the season. I’m currently jumping between two books The Hatmakers and Stardust. 🎧 For Audiobooks I’m almost done with the Jane Austen Collection, I got stuck with Northanger Abbey and is taking me a lot to power through. 🪩 One of the things I’m really enjoying during my time of is making friendship bracelets for the Eras Tour, I’m also learning how to do other designs and now I can make my friends pretty bracelets. 🎵 For music the beginning of this month was for Noah Kahan, I really like his style and music and without a doubt since TTPD was released I have been listening non stop, I’m a Folklore and Evermore girl so this album feels like a third child, I have no words to describe how I relate so deeply to some of the songs I simply don’t understand how she do it. My April wrap up🐉❤️🔥✨ Spoiler free mini reviews⬇️ - Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban 5⭐️ My husband and I are listening to the audiobooks together then watching the movies one at a time and it’s so much fun. 10/10 recommend! - A court of mist a furry 5⭐️ This book fully invested me into the series. It made me fall in love with the characters. I cried, I laughed. It was definitely my favorite read of the month..🥹 - The guest list 2⭐️ This book moved very slow in my opinion, almost DNF. The last few chapters were entertaining but kind of predictable. 90% of the book is back story. It just wasn’t my cup of tea! - A court of wings and ruin 4⭐️ I was fully invested in the series at this point and flew through this book. It was kind of slow at certain points, but overall definitely enjoyed it. - The seven year slip 3 ⭐️ Highly anticipated and is absolutely everywhere right now! This was a fun idea. Romance with a magical element! It just didn’t draw me in the way I hoped. The characters fell a bit flat for me. Meet the Bookstagrammer ✨ Hello bookish friends 👋🏼 I realised the other day that April was my 2 years bookstaversary, time flies! With a few new friends here as well, I thought I’ll say hello and do an intro of “these are a few of my favourite things” 😊 💜 Disneyland - yes, as you can see from the photo reel, I love going to Disneyland especially Tokyo Disney, where their approach to people experience helps create such an immersive magical experience! I love the Disney rides, the food including various popcorn and churro flavours. Not a fan of those long queues though haha 💜Purple - my favourite colour, especially lilac. Navy blue is a very close second. 💜Noodles and dumplings - my ultimate comfort food. Especially those Korean NongShim packet noodles and vegetarian dumplings. 💜Gaming - that’s my other hobby since I’m married to a tech guy/ gamer. Sims 4, Animal Crossing, Fae Farm and Hogwarts Legacy have consumed many hours of my time outside of bookstagram. 💜Fashion - I’ve always wanted a side hustle as a fashion designer, and use to dabble in fashion photography and blogging. Can literally feel my breathing slow down to a calming pace when I’m reading a fashion magazine with those beautiful editorial photos. 💜Paint by numbers - this is a hobby I picked up during the pandemic as our city had the world’s longest lockdowns. I usually put a documentary or movie on and listen while I paint, and it really helps to take my mind off things! 💜Yoga - I’ve been practising yoga for 15 years and each time I practice, I learn something new. Well, here we go! This past January I made it a goal of mine to start reading more. ✨ Meet the Bookstagrammer ✨ I officially joined Bookstagram in August 2023 right before I got my Microlocs and I’m tired of looking at that old post with the silk press! 😂 Plus, I’ve met so many book friends since then. It was time! 💫 Mood Reader and Mood Poster Extraordinaire. Whatever I’m in the mood for reading and posting. You know life be lifeing and my needs & wants may change. I read a little of everything but you’ll always see me run back to literary fiction, thrillers, historical fiction, and my newest favorite: romance. It’s been a hot minute since I’ve introduced myself, so here we go. 🖤 I’m closing in on my last couple years of my 4th decade (nearly 48) 🖤Mom to a pretty remarkable 20 year old. 🖤Wife for 23 years to a very patient man. 🖤Always been a reader but kind of got away from it while my boy was little. 🖤Was a supervisor in a daycare for a very long time. During Covid (2022) I left early years and became an EA in a private school, with absolutely no regrets. 🖤Dog mom - 2 golden retrievers (dog hair aka golden glitter is now an accessory) 🖤Coffee over tea, always 🖤Fantasy reader, spice and anything fiction. Not a fan of autobiographies. 🖤I can’t get into audiobooks. I can’t focus on them and find myself listening and not absorbing the story. 🖤 I like murder podcasts, and always looking for recommendations. 🖤I only read on my Kindle. 📚 The TBR Challenge 📚 *~*~*~*~* 📚 A book that I need to get ASAP: Rein Me In by @kaylawriteslife! I’ve heard and seen that she writes about plus sizes queens which I love, then you add in a cowboy with a filthy moth? Who couldn’t want this book! Also, the cover is adorable. 📚 A book that I’ve been putting off: The Roommate by Rosie Danan! I have no idea why I keep putting it off, I feel like it’s because I’m a mood reader and I want to read it, but I just keep leaving it on my shelf? Someone needs to encourage me to read it! 📚A book recently added to my TBR: Love You Mean It by @jillygagnon! Truth be told, I added it straight to my TBR via Goodreads because of the cover, it’s as simple as that. I also find the name intriguing. 📚 A book I’m scared to read…: Magnolia Parks by Jessa Hastings. I have seen SO much love for this book that I’m worried it won’t live up to the hype. It’s PART of the reason I’ve been MIA (I’ve been avoiding completing it and work has been overwhelming). ANYWAY- This was (technically) my second attempt. My first attempt was a year ago and wasted/damaged supplies ended up in the trash. HOWEVER, I am super proud of myself for getting this done! I f**ked up on the HTV (I don’t have a heat press or iron, but I have a heat gun!), the spine was def half an inch too thick and the cover boards were an inch too small off the top/bottom. It’s still cute and I didn’t have to pay a fortune for an illegal bind. Thank you to @stephysbindery for the typeset. Heute mal nicht wirklich Buch-related😄 ich dachte mir, ich stell mich mal vor. Hello, ich bin Michelle, 26, und liebe Bücher. Ich habe diesen Account vor 2 Jahren erstellt, beim ersten Mal allerdings ohne wirklich Plan. Anfang des Jahres habe ich dann durch @surfing_through_books wieder damit angefangen. Meine Liebe zum Lesen begleitet mich schon seit Kindertagen. Mein Papa hat immer gesagt, wenn mir ein Buch gefällt, dann bekomme ich es. Er hat das Hobby also von klein auf unterstützt. Neben den Büchern habe ich zwei Hobbies die mich sonst sehr gut beschreiben. Vor über 20 Jahren saß ich das erste Mal auf Papas Motorrad, damals noch eine CBR. Mit zehn durfte ich die erste große Tour mitfahren, mit 16 hab ich dann Klasse A2 gemacht. Seit dem sind 10 Jahre rum, ich habe beide Aufstock-Scheine gemacht, und seit mittlerweile acht Jahren fahre ich meine CB500F. Mit ihr und meinem Papa zusammen bin ich 2017 nach England gefahren, letztes Jahr dann von Österreich wieder nach Hause. Was leider immer wieder in Vergessenheit gerät, ist das malen. In der Abi Zeit habe ich die Aquarellmalerei für mich entdeckt und seitdem auch schon das ein oder andere Tierportrait als Auftrag fertig gestellt. Sonst gibt es über mich nur zu sagen, dass ich sehr introvertiert bin und Zeit brauche, um aufzutauen. I want my kids to see themselves in adventure tales. I want them to believe in magic so they can see the world for all it can be. I want them to know that they can save the day, too. I want my kids to be curious and question authority. I want them to be empathetic. I want them to know how loved they are, no matter what.❤️ Just posting this as a quick reminder to myself and anyone who is reading this, don’t lose your WHY. My kids inspired me to write my first book. That paved the way to 4 more books and starting a publishing company! 📚Behind the Books📚 Feels like I’ve not long done an intro post, but I seem to have gained a few new followers lately, so here we are! Thanks so much for finding my little account in the sea of epic bookstagrammers and this wonderful community! 🤍 Here’s a little bit about me; - my name is Katie (not short for anything) - almost no one believes I am as old as I am 🤷🏼♀️😅 - I struggle with non-fiction books and autobiographies (so I tend to get them as audiobooks more which I rarely listen to) 🎧 - some of my favourite snacks/treats include; salted popcorn, white chocolate, pistachio nuts, cucumber, halloumi fries, mozzarella sticks, bourbon biscuits, white chocolate cookies, McDonald’s fries, lemon drizzle cake and brownies. - I’m on the (very long NHS) waiting list for official adhd testing/diagnosis and wish I’d realised a lot of my quirks and my anxiety issues all my life were attributed to this a lot earlier 🤷🏼♀️ - some of my favourite tv shows include; The Walking Dead, Friends, Gilmore Girls, Buffy the vampire slayer, the vampire diaries, Harley Quinn the animated series, the US office, Derry Girls, Sons of Anarchy and What we do in the shadows. - some of my favourite books; Belladonna, Gothikana, Heartless, Mina and the Undead, Soulmates and other ways do die, Harley Quinn: reckoning, Final Girls, Daisy Jones and the Six, Twilight, the Hunger Games, the Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, Bloody fool for Love and A Court of Wings and Ruin.
