Happy Monday 😁! It was windy and cold in my face for this spring 10k run at -12°C. 😆 Nevertheless, it was fun and I prefer this temperature than too much heat. 😋 Happy earth day 🌍!!! The best option to protect the planet is to not buy anything you don't need. Happy Tuesday everyone!!! ☀️ First spring hike of the year. Not near Quebec City because trails are not ready but south, paths are dry. Every year I say this... But don't go on muddy/ snowy/icy trails at this time of the year because it causes way too much damage to the forest when everything melts and you run/hike on it. 😊 Preserve our wonderful nature please so everyone can enjoy it too. PR'd my Half Marathon distance this morning and I accidentally hit finish instead of pause when I went for my gel... 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ just about a 10 min mile Pace and right where I want to be for the Santa Barbara Half Marathon coming up on the 6th.. doesn't count on the AR app as a half or a PR but I'm still stoked about my performance this morning! Here we go Fierce Ones: Our Friday Prayer/ Battle Cry⚡️ Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. For the lessons we learned- the good, the bad, the ugly. For the hardships we faced & hope to overcome. For the wins that we celebrated & get to share. To the adventures in store. To the challenges we’ll face. To the blessings we’ll receive. And most of all for this precious gift of life we had the honor to have another day of…. And hopefully many many more 🙏🏻 … This week I had the honor & privilege to hold so many client sessions with women & men who I have seen grow & come into their own so much- especially over the past few months. I take the mentoring & coaching I do very seriously- if you trust me with your dreams, visions & heart, you better believe I’m going to do everything in my power to help you get there in a way that feels in integrity for you ⚡️ Not only this week, but this entire month has been filled with all the reminders of who I am, what I do in the world & how deeply I’m called to serve. And has brought with it not only all the visions of where it could go, but also the doubts & the fears. As big dreams & purpose & next steps tend to do 🔥 They can feel equally exciting & terrifying in the same breath- which often means we’re on to something amazing. Letting those fears point you in the direction of your desires not only helps, but often can set us free. And then turning that all into Fiercely Moving Forward? Literally life-changing & electrifying ⚡️⚡️⚡️ I plan to take that lesson with me as I’ll be dropping into a weekend of prepping for one of my FAVORITE local races next week- the @carlsbad5000 All Day 20k + lots of rest + tending my heart + as always- getting outside in the WILD as much as I possibly can 🌊🏃‍♀️🏝 I hope you all have a weekend filled with exactly the things you need, some adventures as you see fit & with a heart full of gratitude for it all Fierce Ones 🤍 Because we are here- with hearts beating & blood pulsing & souls dreaming- and that’s a gift I for one have made a promise deep in my heart to never overlook again. Forcing myself up and out when I didn’t want to this morning. Very slow run this morning but got to keep moving and I got it done. You’ve probably noticed I’m being a bit quiet but I’m just having a low energy moment. Also fell on my arse and slipped on the ice running this morning so that just summed it up. I lost 2.1 pounds this week so that’s 3.6 in total in Two weeks. Stayed in a calorie deficit and been running a lot more / netball so could be that contributing to the weight loss but I’m pleased and will continue . Im probably going to take some time out away from Insta this week but I’ll post now and again and I’ll be working out every day without fail. half marathon number ✌🏼is done!!! 🏃🏼‍♀️ it seriously amazes me what our bodies are capable of when we stop selling ourselves short by limiting beliefs. this run was HARD. I honestly expected it to be easier this time around but those mental and physical barriers were really difficult to get through as the race went on. I had to tell myself “you can do this” a hundred times when things were getting really hard + I knew I could. I finished strong and shaved 17 minutes off my previous time! 👊🏻 today though, I can’t walk 😂 thank you for the supportive DMs and to my dad + @didyouknowbrianruns for doing this race with me 💗 let’s do this again in 4 weeks! 🏃🏼‍♀️

two weeks from today I’ll be running 13.1 number ✌🏼 back in june I talked about how I wanted to train for this one differently than I did the first time around and I want to give an update on what that ended up meaning: • instead of over-committing and under-delivering, I set realistic plans based on my already busy schedule + allowed myself to take on more when possible if it felt good 🙂 this is also how I managed to increase my pace without unrealistic expectations • I pushed myself to do things I didn’t think I could just because I never tried — I was holding myself back mentally in so many ways just bc I thought I wouldn’t be good enough. this included telling myself that I am a good runner and the only person I’m competing against is myself yesterday 💗 • I actually ate the amount of food and kind of food I needed to eat (especially before long runs) in order to not only complete the runs, but feel strong doing it 💪🏻 sometimes that even meant eating more than I “needed to” because I knew I would need the fuel next day • I did more mid-distance runs (4-6 miles) than long runs because the long runs take a toll on my joints, hips, toes, etc. 😅 it allowed me to set a good foundation for when I did do longer runs and increased my confidence in my abilities bc not every run was a major struggle • most importantly, I listened to my body and constantly changed plans without beating myself up about it 🏃🏼‍♀️ I definitely didn’t do every single run that I planned and it all still worked out! at the end of the day, I’m doing this for me + I want to enjoy the other parts of my life too. so cancelling a run so I could see my friends was always worth it ☺️ sharing these thoughts to look back on when I need the reminder, thanks to everyone that’s been cheering me on! ❤️ even though today’s 10 miler was tough I’m feeling ready for race day 🏃🏼‍♀️

one of the biggest life lessons I’ve learned from running is consistency > perfection this past week was a biggg struggle for me, not just in terms of running but all aspects of life 🙃 I was facing extreme burnout and found it almost impossible to get any workouts in rather than following my plan exactly I cut it down and focused on prepping as best I could for my long run this weekend by getting some much needed rest, doing a shorter run + opting for a couple morning walks/stretching I had thoughts coming into my head during the week that I was failing, not living up to my plans + taking the easy route. but I know that’s not true. I’ve been consistently prepping for these runs for the past 3 months — fueling my body with good food, staying healthy + hydrated, getting out on the roads as often as I can, and keeping my eyes on the end goal 🏃🏼‍♀️ all of this work didn’t go away from one hard week! when we expect perfection from ourselves it can feel like a failure when we don’t meet that standard even though we’re working SO hard. I’m embracing doing this imperfectly — as long as I’m not quitting I’m succeeding. after a week of feeling down, I went out and ran 7 miles, crushed my pace goal + felt amazing ❤️ trust the process!!

I found running two years ago when I forced it into my life (like, signed up for a half marathon before ever running my first mile forced) I knew it would make me feel stronger but I didn’t know it would change the way I looked at every hard thing in my life 🏃🏼‍♀️ I found out how strong I was every time I tied my laces and got myself out on the road. every time I ran a little bit further, I was stronger for the next little bit further... and the next... eventually I became someone I genuinely didn’t know I could ever become — a runner. I used to make jokes about how my parents happen to be phenomenal runners and I couldn’t jog down the street, but I always really wanted to be able to do it. I was scared to start though — running is so vulnerable. the thought of doing the hardest thing I could think of, outside in my hometown neighborhoods, scared the heck out of me. but I kept going. I knew it was going to suck every time (and honestly it kind of did) but I fell in love with feeling stronger. I got out there every single week, with lots and lots of hard days, and often at a very slow pace, and continued to push myself. I’m still in awe that I ran 13.1 miles. It’s my biggest accomplishment in my life. It holds so many emotions that may seem silly to some people, but it’s everything to me. when I finished the half marathon, I realized how strong I really was. I refuse to believe there’s anything I can’t do anymore. I’m here with my crazy post-run hair to say: I just signed up for my next 13.1 for this october and I am so excited to do this crazy thing all over again. let’s do this!!! 🥳

🏃🏼‍♀️ MY FIRST 10 MILE RUN 🏃🏼‍♀️ . I feel so proud as this was... ☑️ My furthest run (16KM) ☑️ My longest run (1 hour 32 minutes) . Took a tiny cut back this week with 66 miles. Wrapped up our Sunday with 10 miles @ 7:42 min/mile avg, and attempted to catch the rocket launch which was uneventful because of the cloud coverage. . Hopefully this will be the last run (for the next couple days) that's in awful summer-like weather. It seems like whatever cold front coming our way won't be here for long though, because we have another storm brewing off the coast. 😭 . Thursday night group run was a success! We had some walkers, some runners, and distances ranging from 2-5 miles. Many of our Thursday night runners often arrive early to get in a few miles before to make it a midweek long run. First run of 2020 consisted of a 35 minute “tempo” run... minus the tempo. 4+ miles later followed by a short walk I couldn’t help but think that life is all about #perspective. I looked in one direction while #running and it was dark and gloomy. In the other direction, beautiful blue sky with flurries. We can focus on the negative or we can look another way and find the beauty. Preachy? Oh totally... but after what 2019 brought us... I’m not looking back and determined to find that bright blue sky in every day.

Speed work Tuesday • ⁣ ⁣ Today I had three sets of cut down intervals totaling 1200m with a 400m recovery. Honestly I didn’t give this workout much thought. Sometimes I look at my workouts ahead of time and overthink them and luckily I’ve just been too busy this week to do that. ⁣ ⁣ I think if I would’ve really thought about what I was doing, it would’ve freaked me out because having to get faster every 1/4 mile for 3/4 mile is a decently sustained effort compared to what I’ve done lately. It’s nice going into a workout fearless just ready to see what you can do. I hit almost all the paces, some too fast and a couple a little slow but I’m just really proud of where I’m at right now. ⁣ ⁣ @katherun26.2 posted about the mundane work we put in that no one sees and I’ve put in a lot of that mundane work over the last 6 months of injury in order to come back so much stronger. I’m thankful for the mundane and I’m thankful for exciting workouts like today. It’s all part of why I’m so in love with this sport.

Finished a great week yesterday with a 10 mile long run and 24 miles for the week! I love that it’s starting to feel natural again to add miles and go for longer runs. Every moment of that 10 miler was full of joy, even with the sweat dripping off of me and the temps increasing. I try to remember how much of a blessing it is to get to run, and it’s amazing how joyful 10 long miles can feel with a heart of gratitude. ♥️ Rested today and now I’m ready for another week of building. 🏃🏻‍♀️

Sunday runday! Back at it with the kids on the road, pavement and dirt. I missed the miles. I missed the meditation. I missed the views. I missed the freedom. - After I finished nursing my littlest, I hit a low. I had post-partum anxiety, the baby blues and possibly #ppd. I was good at nothing, responsible for everything, plus, it was the anniversary of my parents’ deaths and the time of year I get all my #preventativehealth screenings. - Everything stressed me out. I was immobilized by fear of not being perfect, feeling like I’m not being a good enough mom, feel like I’m not an empathetic enough friend or colleague. I stopped working out because “who has the time?” Everything took too long and I had no time for anything. I felt helpless. Then felt guilty for these feelings because We are lucky, blessed and privileged for the life we have. What a viscous cycle. - Once a friend of mine connected my feelings to the timing of my completing nursing i felt relief. There was an answer. I slowly got out of it with support of my family, hubs, mommy community and even some of these @beautycounter ladies. - New job(s), new appreciation for life and my children, new me! - I decided it was time to refocus on me. I got the @onepeloton, spent more time at @corepoweryoga and finally getting back to my @bobgearus for some runs. - Happy Sunday. - Make some you time this week. -

This mornin I realized the different daycares for the kids at the gym were actually gonna be open at the same time (its not ever like that on Saturdays), so we went over and I got in a 4th workout for the week! Skirt Sport pants!! First time I’ve tried them and love them! Nice compression and great waistband, by which ALL running pants should be rated! I was dreading what I thought was hill day and was pleasantly surprised when I looked at my training plan and it said Tempo Run! 1 slow mile warm up, 3 miles at tempo pace, and 1 slow cool down. Boxing Day Outting! 💪🏽😘 . Five Weeks Postpartum Tomorrow 🏃🏼‍♀️ . Last week I got signed off to start my return to running and this week I started.. I’ve been walking for 30 mins a day since I was two weeks postpartum and increasing the pace (I feel amazing), this week the plan is Walk 9 Light Run (jog) 1 min x3, followed by Walk 8 Light Run (jog) 2 min x3 and so on until I’m running for a full 30 mins! So I almost didn’t go on my run this morning.. my left leg was giving me pain last night before bed and I wasn’t sure I would be able to do my run this morning.. ended up sleeping in, my leg felt better so I decided to do my run but was going to just take it slow. It’s funny how the runs you don’t want to do can turn out to be your best runs!! I think a runners biggest challenge is knowing when to reset. Not every run is going to be perfect, and not every run will you hit pace or PR. • • Today’s run was 5 miles and ended with an average pace of 9:11, not bad right? What you don’t see with that time is the fact that I started at an 8:30 pace and couldn’t seem to slow myself down. The wind was so cold and strong that I felt like I was fighting to run up the hills, and mentally I kept saying “maybe I could stop for a second.” Despite all of my doubts and struggles I did finish my run. I acknowledged today wasn’t a perfect run and reset. It is so important to be able to acknowledge your good AND bad runs and remember that you start from zero every time you start a run. • • This was the first long run on my journey to my half in May and my full in October. It’s crazy to think that there will be a day that five miles will feel like nothing. I am so thankful for my “running team” who come out in the freezing cold to support me and cheer me on.
