(ahhhhh - great message!) Dog also cautioned us to trust our intuition this week - if something doesn't smell right, it probably isn't. It's fascinating to see the reactions of friends and family when I mention that I've decided to stop drinking alcohol. Their response often resembles the shock one might expect if I had announced I was starting to use heroin. They ask if everything is alright, and I reassure them that I'm simply making changes to improve my overall health. My Dad always teased me about my food choices, especially my preference for meat and vegetables over the classic Italian pasta dishes. To him, it seemed almost sacrilegious for an Italian-American. He would ask me if wanted to live forever? However, during the same meals, he would mention how the doctor advised him and my mom to lose weight and reduce their medication intake. Despite their resistance to giving up dessert, I suggested starting with smaller portions. About a week later, my mom excitedly reported their success with the smaller portions. Fast forward to our next family dinner, and my mom proudly unveils a Costco-sized container of mini pastries, proclaiming how well they're doing by switching to smaller dessert portions. Whew, today I decided to try and work out with my Nina. She was even nice enough to loan me some of her hair ties to keep my hare out of my eyes, lol. I mean, ears. Her virtual exercise coach was very inclusive & allowed me to join in on their session today without any fuss.
