Long weekend hill hill run. It’s been a while since I’ve run the loop around the Lexington Reservoir and I didn’t know how long it was gonna take me! But, I was fueled by all the pasta from last night and I really didn’t stop. If you want to run the loop, you can park at the local high school and run alongside Highway 17 and then once you get to the dam phase you just run the perimeter of the reservoir. From the high school around the reservoir and back it’s about 12 miles or 19.3 km. Bath Skyline parkrun in -2 temps 🥶😂 Decided to tie in some parkrun tourism while in Bath for the Spa and the Christmas Markets. Quite a tight turnaround with an 11am checkout and a 1.5 mile run there and back (walk there because it’s all uphill 😳) but worth the effort. I originally chose this one for the views. If you’ve seen my story you’ll see there were none today 😂 BUT it was still stunning with everything all frosty. 1.5 loops on gravel and field with 37 steps on the first lap (this is usually where you get a great view of Bath) then onto a lap through the woods to the finish. A huge, huge thank you to the volunteers who stood in the cold to ensure we had a safe run - my fingers were numb until that second lap so goodness knows how cold they must have been! Lovely to get a chance to run this on their 400th event! Update, we are finishers of the 2022 Antartic Ice Marathon! This was an experience of a lifetime and an adventure. We knew we were going to be out a long while. Five weeks ago Kristi had a “no-running” VMO and Meniscus tear. The life you have is what’s in front of you and what you do with it. We were too late to cancel and had a short window to partial heal. We ran a 26.2 in Antartica because the will is greater than pain. Antartica is like nothing else, the white continent, too cold for life. A long story for another time when we return. Don't Sweat from Overdressing Don't overdress, or you could run the risk of sweating which can make you even colder. It's better to take off some layers when you get hot and then put them back on as you get cold than have clothing that are soaked. 4. Stay Hydrated It's a common misconception to think you don't need to drink a lot of water just because it's cold. In fact, you may need to drink more since the air tends to be dryer, thus pulling the moisture out of your body. 5.
