Day 6 of LRD – Reaching a breaking point 💧💧💧💧💧💧 I started off my day pretty good with my usual cold brew with a shake mixed in. I cleaned the apartment with my husband. Then he suggested Grant's Farm – for non-STL people, it's Ulysses S. Grant's old farm property, full of lots of wildlife, you can feed goats and llamas, see the Clydesdales, and in the biergarten, you can get 2 free Anheuser-Busch beers, brats, Bavarian pretzels, BBQ, etc. I thought that sounded like a fine idea. I planned on allowing myself one of the free beers. No matter what I'm drinking, I'm just so damn hungry. I just did not expect what happened next. My husband got a brat and fries for himself. And then I couldn't help but start crying right there in the middle of the crowded courtyard. I think I was just overwhelmed by hunger, after all, I'm only taking in 500-600 calories of liquids all week. My husband started apologizing profusely, "I'm sorry! I should have eaten something before we came here. I'll get rid of this," and he quickly finished the bratwurst, ate some of the fries, but threw the rest away. Meanwhile, I'm apologizing back for ruining our outing by publicly crying. I could feel people staring. I tried to pull a Big Daddy and put on my sunglasses in an effort to become invisible. I took half a Xanax and asked to leave. I pulled it together when we got in line for the tram back to the entrance. I had to pretend I was okay because someone I knew sat in front of us and was trying to talk to me. I didn't want to try to explain what was going on to her. At the gift shop, I couldn't decide on anything I wanted because I'm hesitant to buy T-shirts that will soon be too large and I don't need any more stuffed animals. So I grabbed a Monster Zero for $6.97. (Sorry, hub.) Although this weird emotional outburst occurred, I DID NOT GIVE UP AND EAT ANYTHING. My husband is seriously the sweetest. He was not the least bit mad, annoyed, or upset by my overwhelming emotions. He completely understands that I'm just so hungry. [Continued in the comments]

My Food Freedom I Never Thought I’d Have: Eating out with my husband and not worrying about tracking every single bite that was going into my mouth to ensure I was getting enough protein or going over my calories. As an all or nothing, this is huge. How: 1) I have eaten enough protein to visually know about how much in a meal I need to stay on track for the day. I stay with protein first. 2) my protein is a goal. If I miss it one day I won’t shrivel up. 3) I don’t eat this way often & therefore, outside of a sodium scale shift, this isn’t going to make me wake up 275lbs again. 4) I listen to my full cues & stop when I’m full which keeps me from over doing it. 5) I choose to do this IN THE MOMENT because that is the lifestyle I want. I want to fuel my body the best I can day in and out but leave room for participating in moments that are special to me. Holidays, bdays, vacations, dates etc. To me that is a LIFESTYLE vs a DIET Who would have ever thought that I could have arrived here!? What percentage of your food comes from pre-packaged INNER AISLES of your grocery store (and highly processed) versus OUTER AISLES of your grocery store? ⚡️ Eating healthy does not need to be boring or gross. ⚡️ Eating healthy does not need to take hours. ⚡️ Over time, eating more whole foods and less processed foods improves both weight loss outcomes and overall health. Please remember that this ALSO is not about demonizing foods but looking at it from the perspective of PERCENTAGES. This is why in my books, I talk about the 80/20 rule in terms of nutrition. When you are eating whole, healthy foods more often, your body can easily access and process the nutrition. Where are you getting your FOOD from? How is it nourishing your body? Remember, we want to enjoy the foods we are eating AND make sure we are getting nourishment. What small steps can you take to create space for REAL whole foods in your NEW bariatric lifestyle and for the longevity of your journey?? Okay yall, can we talk? Yesterday, I was part of an amazing exhibit and as overjoyed as I was, I was self conscious. Lately, I’ve noticed in photos my chest is noticeably low, my bat wings, my turkey neck. After losing over 300 pounds and being almost 3 years post op, I think it is time for a change. Day 60 post #wls and #360bodylift I was getting ready for work and accidentally grabbed my “sad pants” - size 2XL scrubs that used to ride up my bum! Yup, I kept a pair of old stretchy scrub pants to remind me how far I’ve gone. I call them my “sad pants” because the size made me sad, the fully-stretched-while-wearing-them elastic made me sad, the idea I let myself get that big made me sad, and when don’t think I’ve lost enough weight makes me sad, I put these on to remind me I DID IT, I LOST IT, I HAVE CHANGED, I AM HEALTHIER, I AM LEANER, I AM DOING AMAZING! We met up with my best friend and another friend and had something to eat and drink (I enjoyed another peppermint tea) while we people watched at all the lovely Goth people in Whitby. It's nice to get out the house, even if it's just for something as simple as tea in another town. . On a personal note, I was able to stand for a lot longer than I thought waiting for the Park and Ride bus, as well as wander a little bit.
