As promised I’m catching up on posting my Christmas reads. This was just a short one, a little Christmas novella and I thoroughly enjoyed it! As much of a thriller lover as I am, I don’t tend to read many Christmas thrillers, taking a break from the dark stuff for one month of the year so this one was my exception and it made a nice contrast to all the Christmas romances. I really like this author’s writing style and he sure knows how to write a twist! This one really took me by surprise 😳 and I loved that! Are you a novella fan? My first read of 2024 was therefore a Christmas book 🎄✨ and this one I liked! Este es el preámbulo para hablarles sobre esta maravillosa novela recomendada por mi querida Marga @desdemiterraza_ La puerta de las estrellas de la noruega Ingvild H. Rishøi, una historia que está basada en el hermoso cuento de Andersen "La niña de los fósforos" muy famosa entre quienes dedicamos este tiempo para leer cuentos sobre la época. Esta es la historia de Ronja, una niña de 10 años que con su inocencia se permite soñar con un gran árbol de Navidad, pero también nos habla de su hermana Melissa que siendo un poco mayor, ya tiene la dureza de un corazón que le ha tocado madurar rápidamente para hacerse cargo de ella y de su pequeña hermana, protegiéndola de la cruda pobreza y de todo lo precario en que les ha tocado vivir al tener un padre alcohólico. Un libro que toca el corazón desde la primera página y que nos envuelve con una narrativa dulce y a la vez dolorosa. Una historia emocionante y a la vez conmovedora, triste pero a su vez afable, tanto que nos entibia el corazón con toda su bondad. Es una novela llena de constrastes, como la vida misma, escenas que recrean la realidad que viven muchos, como aquella donde el padre pierde trabajos por entregarse a la bebida, así como vemos a dos tiernas niñas abrazándose por las noches para darse calor tanto en el cuerpo como en el alma, solas y acompañadas al mismo tiempo, porque se tienen la una a la otra. Una historia que es imposible no derramar, así no quieras, una lágrima, por lo sencillo, pero a su vez, potente relato. Recomendada al 💯. Leer esta novela me ha cautivado totalmente y me ha llenado tanto el corazón que no me queda más que cerrar este tiempo de lecturas navideñas y prepararme para comenzar un nuevo año lleno de promesas. Gladys starszej pani, którą żartobliwie można określić monitoringiem osiedlowym. Katherine matki dwojga dzieci, której grozi niebezpieczeństwo. Jest też On - tajemniczy prześladowca z okaleczoną psychiką, który więzi Katherine z dziećmi i grozi im pistoletem. Jeden dzień, jedno przeczucie połączyło te osoby. To historia, która nie zwalnia ani na moment. Mamy tu ogromną dawkę emocji oraz spektakularne zwroty akcji. Autorka genialnie przedstawiła bohaterów, i doskonale manipiluje wydarzeniami. Trope porusza w książce bardzo trudne tematy: rozwód, alkoholizm, nienawiść oraz ukazuje jaki ogromny wpływa na dorosłe życie dziecka mają zachowanie najbliższych osób oraz wydarzenia z jego dzieciństwa. To także historia o ludziach, którzy pragną się zmienić i chcą by ich przeszłość nie kładła się cieniem na ich przyszłości. To kawał przyzwoitej lektury, która wciąga i wymaga skupienia. Momentami historia może i trochę naciągana ale czyta się ją z zaciekawieniem, szybko i przyjemnie. Un bon petit ennemies to lover de Noël. J’ai bien aimé. Au début j’ai eu un peu de mal à rentre dedans mais au final c’était simpa. Il y avait une alternance des points de vue et c’est pas de refus. J’ai trouvé qu’il y avait parfois des longueurs, et que au contraire à la fin il y a trop d’événement en peu de chapitres. J’ai bien aimé suivre l’enquête de Salomé et j’ai bien aimé suivre nos tourtereaux qui sont 2 opposés. Un livre de Noël terminé le jour de Noël. Si je ne suis pas accro aux téléfilms de Noël où le connard du début se transforme en prince charmant pour sauver la demoiselle en détresse dans un chalet entouré de neige au son des chants de Noël et sous une couche de cadeaux, bûches et sapins plus Noëlesques les uns que les autres, je dois dire que la version roman m'a plutôt captivée.. Même si le scénario est du même acabit, et qu'on se doute de comment ça va finir, le déroulé des événements donne envie d'en savoir toujours plus sur la suite... Et l'histoire est assez légère que pour être lue rapidement et sans prise de tête. Llegando casi al final de mis lecturas navideñas, que han sido maravillosas y he disfrutado de este hermoso ambiente festivo con variadas historias en diferentes escenarios. Hoy les traigo una belleza. Es una recopilación de 35 cuentos elegidos magistralmente por Marta Salís (@albaeditorial ) que nos narran sobre cuentos, leyendas y tradiciones occidentales. Totalmente mágico por el desfile de grandes autores que nos presenta, comenzando por los hermanos Grimm y su cuento "Los táleros de las estrellas", Hoffman con su turbio "La aventura de la noche de San Silvestre" pasando por Joyce con "Los muertos", Dickens con su "Cuento Navidad" y su terrorífico Señor Scrooge. Jeanette Winterson es una escritora inglesa, cuyas obras se pueden situar dentro del ámbito posmodernista. De su libro Dias de navidad: Cuentos y recetas (2018) quiero hablarles hoy. Este libro fue catalogado como uno de los "mejores libros del año" según The New York Times. Y el "Libro del año" según The Sunday Telegraph. Es una novela que recopila 12 cuentos intercalados con recetas navideñas (sí, de cocina) presentadas entre anécdotas personales y breves historias que nos deleitan con su narrativa ágil, lírica e intensa, llena de imaginación acompañada de una oscura diversión, dónde refleja su alto conocimiento en la historia, cultura y religión. Es un libro que a parte de lo mencionado, es muy ameno, y está lleno de mensajes y reflexiones ideal para estás fechas. Durante años la autora ha escrito un relato cada Navidad: cuentos llenos de fantasmas, tradiciones, de carámbanos, de trineos y de muérdago, con una alta dosis de ironía y profunda reflexión, mismas que favorecen a la unión de la familia, además que contiene bellísimas ilustraciones, y con las recetas (todas íntimamente personales) acompañan la explicación para dicha preparación. Sinceramente yo dejé pasarlas porque soy muy mala para la cocina 😅, lo que sí atesoré fue la anécdota que las acompaña como tentempié de cada una de ellas. El primer relato "Pascua de Navidad" (por mencionar uno) desvela "los motivos de algunas tradiciones y momentos mágicos navideños, recordándonos, por ejemplo, que el traje rojo de Papá Noel es solo fruto del poder de una conocida, y misteriosa…, marca de refrescos", etc. No puedo hacer otra cosa que festejar este maravilloso libro que me ha llenado el corazón con su magia y afectuosos relatos que nos ofrecen una atmósfera familiar. El físico se lo pedí a Santa, me encantó 🤞🙈. Realmente me ha sorprendido esta lectura, sobrepasó mi expectativa, y creo que es uno de los mejores libros contemporáneos referentes a la Navidad que he leído hasta ahora. Sí quieres leer algo distinto para perderte algunos días en una excelente lectura, este es el ideal. Amé a la autora y en el 2024 trataré de seguir leyéndola. @coloniadellibres #merrydecember

Believe it or not, thriller lover that I am, I haven’t read any Lisa Unger! What a perfect little novella to start off with at this festive time of year. Christmas Presents, and a fitting title for several reasons, is perfect for thriller, horror, crime, mystery, and dark fiction readers. It’s darker than a cozy mystery of course, but doesn’t tread into unsettling descriptions or the like. It rather tells the story through survivor and bookstore owner Madeline, when she helps re-open a cold case, and solve some new crimes with possible links to the old, with a famous true crime podcaster who comes to town. Her best friend, Badger, and her dad (who was the Sheriff but has suffered a stroke and is unable to speak, walk, or help) through his office files, also assist in ways. I liked how she wove the business of the bookstore during the holiday season, the merits of long-lasting friendships, having family you love and then family you choose as family. I loved the hope on many levels that this novella brings as well as the positives and negatives of people running true crime podcasts. I loved the idea of the presents which created tension throughout. It was a really seamless read with lots of Christmas references and twinkling lights but woven around a quick dark mystery. Recommend for holiday reading! I’ll pick up more of Lisa Unger - she’s a really good writer. Se acerca el fin de este maravilloso año, pasó prácticamente "volando". Con mi familia cumplimos nuestro primer año viviendo en USA, y también me inicié en este hermoso mundo de compartir sobre libros, para hablar de ellos, pero han sido ellos los que me han hablado por medio de sus bellas recomendaciones. Agradezco siempre a los libros, pues me han dado vida, emoción, conocimiento, crecimiento personal, también amigos y una red con quién compartir y conversar, a veces, no solo de ellos. Me han inspirado ❤️ Dada la fecha, he preparado un bookstag, siguiendo la iniciativa de mi querida Anna @llegir_entre_somnis , pero lo he variado con "tradiciones navideñas" de mi país, pero seguro ustedes también las comparten. No son lecturas para nada navideñas, pero calzan perfectamente con los enunciados. Se me ha hecho muy difícil escoger mi mejor lectura del 2023, todas han sido espectaculares, pero puedo afirmar que son muy especiales, mucho más la que está en "Estrella de navidad": 📚El hombre que paseaba con los libros. Siempre lo recomendaré, una lectura "feelgood" con un hermoso mensaje de amistad. 🥳Una habitación propia. Tuve mucha expectativa por haber sido mi primer acercamiento con la autora. El mejor ensayo sobre feminismo, claro y preciso. Fascinada. 🤓Ensayo sobre la ceguera. Un libro que ilumina. Me generó un nuevo despertar con la narrativa y el mensaje de Saramago. 🥹El color de la leche, una lectura de altura, sin igual, por aquel impacto que surgió con la trama y sobre todo por el contraste entre cómo lo narra versus a lo que narra. 🥰Como polvo en el viento. La construcción de sus personajes sumado con el estilo narrativo de Padura la hacen una novela afable. 🤗Pequeñas cosas como esas. Quién no ha leído a Claire Keegan se está perdiendo de conocer a una autora que con su calidez narra sobre duras realidades. 🤯Dos amigas. Una lectura corta pero poderosa, solo cuando terminas de leerlo es que comienza la verdadera reflexión de lo leído. Fantástica. ☺️Matar a un ruiseñor.
